Geez, someone better let the air out of my oxygen tank before I die! Well, I got a laptop now, which means I will be able to do more guides now. Maybe. The problem with the laptop is it is tough as hell for me to type on. I am used to the iMac keyboard and mouse, so I am doing this guide on my iMac, because it would be tough as nails for me to do this guide on the laptop. Also, I am able to download music while typing this guide, so it works in two ways. Now then, why Mystic Quest? 1. I love this game to death. It is one of my all time favorite games, and it was also my first role playing game. It is getting a lot of negative talk, and I never really understood why. I guess people just never understood the point of this game. It is a beginner's role playing game. I will leave it at that. Read my review if you want more. 2. It really isn't that bad of a guide to write. I enjoy the game, and will enjoy writing this guide, and the game isn't exactly complicated. It is by far the easiest Final Fantasy game. 3. I have always had a goal to do a guide for all the Final Fantasy games I like. When I finish this guide and Final Fantasy IV, I will only have to do guides for Final Fantasy III and Final Fantasy VII! And I already started my FF7 guide to a certain extent, so I am good to go! Of course, a year ago, I never expected to do a guide for ONE Final Fantasy game, much less all of them. :) 4. I want to be a writer one day, so doing all these guides now will give me some experience for down the line. 5. I am suddenly in the guide writing spirit again. I am a phase writer if there ever was one. I will literally not do anything for like 2 months. Just look at all the stuff I submitted this year before I did my COTM guide. I did about four reviews, and I might have worked on one FAQ back in January. I was never going to do another guide again, and then COTM came and changed everything. Those are the reasons. Anyways, enjoy the guide for this great game, and email me with any questions. Later! -Psycho Penguin mcfaddendaman@aol.com (Personal) psychopenguin24@aol.com (Game Related) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- ----- 2.0 Basic Information ------------------------------------------------- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- ----Here is a list of the basic information (storylines, controls, etc.) of this game.---- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- STORYLINE -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For centuries the Focus Tower had stood at the very heart of the World. It had been a center for trade and knowledge, and the people of the World had met there to peacefully settle their differences. But on one warm summer day, the Tower was suddenly transformed into a symbol of the purest evil. For on that day, powerful monsters battled their way into the Tower, stole the four Crystals of the Earth, and then took off with the magical Coins that had kept the Tower's doors unlocked. With the Tower doors sealed behind them, the monsters relaxed their guard and turned their attention to the Crystals. As they basked in the radiant glow of the Crystals, the monsters grew stronger and meaner and even more wicked. The more light the monsters consumed, the more the World was drained of its warmth and color. Tremors soon shook the land. The sky grew cloudy and dark. The seasons went berserk. Monsters appeared everywhere and terrorized the people. The World was thrown into total chaos. Something had to be done... Enter Benjamin. Benjamin was the most normal youngster you could imagine. Like most responsible villagers of his age, he arose at the crack of dawn to take his family's livestock to the upper meadow to graze. Other kids teased him because he read while tending his heard, and because a village Elder had taken him in as a promising student. Although Benjamin seemed mature beyond his years, he still dreamed of being more than he was -- faster, stronger and more daring. Little did he know his wishes were about to be fulfilled the hard way... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MAIN MENU/CONTROLS -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- All sub - commands, such as ITEM, SPELL, ARMOR, and WEAPONS, are selected from the MAIN MENU. Nothing fancy, since this game could probably be defeated blindfolded.---- ================================================================================ Location: HILL OF DESTINY Suggested Level: 1 Items Found: None Enemies: Behemoth Bosses: None ================================================================================ Wow, look at the pretty graphics. Watch the storyline scene, where the hero finds out about the crystals, Focus Tower, and the meaning of life. Press the B button to get over the various "obstacles" (heh, it's just hills sinking), and soon enough you will get to the first fight. The Behemoth is easy, but he can do critical attacks, and if he does one, and you don't do any, chances are you will die. So, just keep trying. The cool thing (?) about Mystic Quest is the fact that you can restart battles from the beginning when you die, so you never get game over. Win the battle is over, you will be in the Level Forest. ================================================================================ Location: LEVEL FOREST Suggested Level: 1 Items Found: Cure x3, Tree Wither Enemies: None Bosses: None ================================================================================ The old man will tell you to save the Crystal of Earth. Wow, what an unique storyline, eh? What's next, you have to save the Princess, right? The old man then tells you to save the Princess. Just kidding. Then, talk to the man in blue. Jump over him and push the boulder. You're his new Tajiri (japanese for hero), so he gives you the Sphere of Light (or the Tree Wither, you decide). He tells you to give the Tree Wither to this girl named Kaeli in the town of Foresta, so go there, but not before stealing some cure potions from the chest. ================================================================================ Location: FORESTA Suggested Level: 1 Items Found: Cure x6 Enemies: None Bosses: None ================================================================================ This is a very interesting town. See, everything is all brown and stuff. Ah well. Go into the house in the lower right hand corner and talk to Kaeli. After an outstandingly fun scene, she will join your party. Yay! The Inn will heal you, but so will the bed in Kaeli's house, and the bed is so much more fun ;). Go through the back door in the top house (use the stepping stones in the water), and get the Cure spell from the house. You can't get the cure potions right now, but soon enough... ================================================================================ Location: LEVEL FOREST Suggested Level: 1 Items Found: Cure x6, Heal x3 Enemies: Brownie, Slime Bosses: Minotaur ================================================================================ You remember those trees that were blocking you earlier? Well, go back there, and Kaeli will chop them down using her axe. Wow. Now, you can go into the forest. So, go around, fighting enemies and getting items. When you are to Level 3, go up and face the Minotaur. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MINOTAUR Hit Points: 240 Experience Given: 102 Gold Pieces Given: 30 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you are on Level 3, this battle will be a lot easier, believe me. First off, have the hero use his normal attacks, while Kaeli uses her regular axe chops, as well. But, there is an easier way to win this battle. Have Kaeli cast Life on Minotaur and it will do a lot more damage. All in all, this battle really isn't that hard, especially if you got to Level 3 like I asked :) Kaeli will then give you the Axe, so you can use that to chop up trees and crap. Stock up on Heal potions here before you go, just keep going back in and getting more. They refill when you leave. ================================================================================ Location: SAND TEMPLE Suggested Level: 3 Items Found: None Enemies: None Bosses: None ================================================================================ Just go here, forget about the battlefields for now, you will be back to go to them soon. Tristam has taken the Elixir, but he promises he will give it to you if you take him through the Bone Dungeon to get some treasures. Now, go back out to the battlefields. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BATTLEFIELD #1 Location: North of Level Forest Enemies: Mad Plant, Poison Toad Reward: None Notes: These guys are easy, just have Tristam take out the Mad Plants and the hero take out the Poison Toads. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BATTLEFIELD #2 Location: West of Sand Temple Enemies: Basilisk, Mad Plant, Poison Toad Reward: Charm Notes: Same as before, with the addition of Basilisk, which isn't a terribly tough enemy. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================================================================================ Location: BONE DUNGEON Suggested Level: 5 Items Found: Ninja Stars x60, Cure x6, Bomb x20, Seed x3, Quake Spell, Sand Coin Enemies: Basilisk, Gorgon, Mad Plant, Poison Toad, Roc Bosses: Flamerus Rex ================================================================================ 1F: Fight all the enemies here now, to gain levels, and also because Tristam will leave you at the end here and you have to come back by yourself. Get the chests on both the left hand side, right hand side, and in the middle, then go in. B1: Jump over the water using the stepping stones, then go right and down into the water. Go left, up, and buy the bombs off Tristam. Say no the first time he asks to get them cheaper. Now, go back, and blow up the hole you skipped over, to get the Steel Shield. Go through the door you were at before, then go down the stairs. B2: Go right and get the chest. Go up and use the bomb on the long skeleton. Go right and get some Ninja Stars, then go left. Then go up and right. Go up the skeleton, go right, then down. Go up and bomb the skeleton head. Go all the way up, and get the chest. Go down, then left. Go all the way up here to get the Quake spell, then go right, and keep going. B2: Heal and fight the boss. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FLAMERUS REX Hit Points: 2,200 Experience Given: 120 Gold Pieces Given: Not Available -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Have Tristam keep on attacking, while the Hero can either use Quake or use Cure, either one will do a decent amount of damage. Have the hero also cure people as needed, as Flamerus Rex can do some pretty powerful attacks. Soon, he will be reduced to a pile of bones. This means two things. Yse, it means he is about to die. But it also means he will pull off this powerful attack called Rip Earth, which does a good amount of damage to each character. Keep on attacking him when he is down, and cure one more time, and he should die. After this, watch the scene where the Crystal of Light is restored. Yay. 1 down, 3 to go! Tristam will then live up to his word (in a Final Fantasy game? Wow, you know this is pretty basic), and give you the Elixir. Make sure to get the chest on the right hand side, which contains the Sand Coin. That allows you to advance in the Focus Tower. Now, leave here and go back to Foresta. ================================================================================ Location: FORESTA Suggested Level: 8 Items Found: None Enemies: None Bosses: None ================================================================================ Give Kaeli the Elixir and she will tell you to go to Aquaria via the Focus Tower. So, go there, skipping over the battlefield if you want. ================================================================================ Location: FOCUS TOWER Suggested Level: 8 Items Found: Bombs x10, Fire Spell Enemies: None Bosses: None ================================================================================ 1F: Get the Bombs from the chest, then unlock the yellow door and go through it. 2F: Go left, and down, to get the Fire spell. Go back through the door on the top. ================================================================================ Location: LIBRA TEMPLE Suggested Level: 8 Items Found: Bombs x10 Enemies: None Bosses: None ================================================================================ Skip over the battlefield and talk to Phoebe. She will join your party after a lot of hassling. Heh heh. Girls. Now, go east to Aquaria, and skip over the battlefields along the way. ================================================================================ Location: AQUARIA Suggested Level: 8 Items Found: Heal x3 Enemies: None Bosses: None ================================================================================ The town appears to be slightly frozen. Go into the Inn and buy some bombs if you want. rest here, then go out and left into Phoebe's house. She says you need to get the Libra Crest from the Wintry Cave to use on the Libra symbol you saw in the Libra Temple, so I guess that's your next stop, eh? Get the Heal potions from the chest. Go out, and go to the middle of the town, and take the left bridge. Enter the house and buy the Steel Helm. Now, go out and fight all these battlefields. The first one is all the way back before the damn Focus Tower. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BATTLEFIELD #3 Location: East of Sand Temple Enemies: Minotaur Zombie, Sand Worm Reward: None Notes: These guys aren't too bad, as they were also found in the Bone Dungeon. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BATTLEFIELD #4 Location: East of Focus Tower Enemies: Mintmint Reward: None Notes: Switch to bombs and then just hold down the A button for an easy win. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BATTLEFIELD #5 Location: East of Libra Temple Enemies: Giant Toad, Mintmint Reward: None Notes: Pound away on these little gobbers, they aren't that bad. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BATTLEFIELD #6 Location: South of Aquaria Enemies: Giant Toad, Mintmint, Scorpion Reward: Magic Ring Notes: Use a lot of bombs and fire magic to get by here. Scorpions are weak against Fire magic. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BATTLEFIELD #7 Location: South of Wintry Cave Enemies: Edgehog, Giant Toad, Scorpion Reward: None Notes: Use a lot of bombs and fire magic to get by here. Scorpions are weak against Fire magic. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================================================================================ Location: WINTRY CAVE Suggested Level: 11 Items Found: Bombs x10, Heal x6, Cure x9, Refresher x3, Arrows x40 Enemies: Centaur, Edgehog, Land Turtle, Land Worm, Scorpion, Sparna Bosses: Squidite ================================================================================ 1F: Get the bombs on the left hand side, then go right, and up the wall, then left and down. You will fall here. Get the Cat Claw from Phoebe, and now you can climb up these walls. Go left, then up. Get the chest here and leave. Go right and get the chest, then go back left. Climb up the wall here, and go left and land on the ledge. Go down and left, then up to another wall. Go down, kill some enemies, go left, go up the wall, and blow open the door. 2F: Go up, then right, and go down to get some chests. Go up from here and through the door. 3F: Heal and fight. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SQUIDITE Hit Points: 2,500 Experience Given: 219 Gold Pieces Given: 6 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This guy really isn't that bad. He comes with 2 sparnas, so have Phoebe take them out quickly with her Bow. Have the Hero attack Squidite while Phoebe is killing off the Sparnas with her Bow. When they die, have Phoebe blast Squidite with Thunder magic, since he is really weak against that. Have the hero attack or cure as needed, since Squidite, while being weak defensively against Thunder magic, has some decent attacks, and he is not afraid to use them. After a while, he will die. Get the Libra Crest, leave, and head back to the Libra Temple. ================================================================================ Location: LIBRA TEMPLE/LIFE TEMPLE Suggested Level: 14 Items Found: None Enemies: None Bosses: None ================================================================================ Warp to the Life Temple, talk to the old guy, get the Wakewater, and head back to Aquaria. ================================================================================ Location: AQUARIA Suggested Level: 14 Items Found: None Enemies: None Bosses: None ================================================================================ Watch the scene, as you will automatically walk to the center of the town upon entering. Phoebe will use the Wakewater to wake up that darn Fern. Wow. Now, you have to go to the Falls Basin. Check out the Battlefield first, though. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BATTLEFIELD #8 Location: West of Wintry Cave Enemies: Desert Hags Reward: None Notes: Use fire magic for a quick win. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================================================================================ Location: FALLS BASIN Suggested Level: 14 Items Found: Bombs x10, Heal Spell Enemies: Desert Hag, Lamia Bosses: Snow Crab ================================================================================ Welcome to one of the most annoying things in Mystic Quest, and definitely the most annoying puzzle. You see the ice block? Push it 9 spaces up, 7 to the left, then 1 up. Go through the passageway, and then jump across the large gap to the left, using that ice block. Go down, and encounter yet another ice block. Move it 4 spaces to the right, then 2 spaces north. Go back left, up the stairs, and then go right. Jump across the ice block. Push this block 3 spaces to the left. Go back to the other block and move it 2 up and 11 right. Go back to the left, then down to the right, and up the small stairs. Jump across using the ice block. Go up, and push the ice block that is near the entrance 1 left, 1 up, 2 left, 11 up, 4 right, and 2 up. Go back on the ledge and jump across using the ice block. Cure and fight. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SNOW CRAB Hit Points: 3,000 Experience Given: 234 Gold Pieces Given: 6 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Start off the battle by casting Fire on all the enemies. Once the other enemies die, focus your attack on the Snow Crab. Have Phoebe use Thunder, or Fire (Thunder works better), and have the hero use Fire, or Cure (as needed). This boss isn't that tough at all. After the battle, get the Heal Spell. Phoebe will teach you how to use Jumbo Bombs. OK, that's it? Why go through there then? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BATTLEFIELD #9 Location: North of Falls Basin Enemies: Desert Hag, Lamia, Mage Reward: None Notes: Fire and bombs. Now that you have Jumbo Bombs, it should be easier. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================================================================================ Location: ICE PYRAMID Suggested Level: 15 Items Found: Refresher x6, Arrows x170, Bombs x50, Noble Armor, Heal x12, Cure x9, Magic Mirror, Knight Sword, River Coin Enemies: Desert Hag, Freezer Crab, Gather, Lamia, Mage, Phanquid, Sphinx, Stoney Roost Bosses: Iron Golem ================================================================================ 1F: Walk up to the statue and hit it with your sword. Go through the door, then go right, down, and right, and keep on going until you can't go up any more. Then go up. Then go right, and you can get the Magic Mirror. This allows you to see invisible enemies in the Ice Pyramid. Now, just search around the room, there are a lot of items here, but nothing too important. The stairs on the eastside of the room will lead you to 3F. 3F: Go right and hit the statue. Now, go left. The first door lets you get some items. Keep on going, and take the stairs. 4F: Go left, then down, and then go up the stairs. 5F: Go left, get some items, then press up until you fall off the side. 4F: Get the Noble Armor. Go back up the stairs. 5F: Go right, then move around until you get to the center of the room. You see the crack in the floor? Bomb it. Fall down that hole, and keep on falling until you see a room with 6 blue statues. 1F: Poke any of these statues, and then fall. B1: Go down, and get the Knight Sword. Put on the claw, and climb up. Go to the lower right corner and go down the stairs. Put bombs in front of the doors, then one in the left hand side. Enter that door, then go up, using the claw. 5F: Go in the door. Heal and fight! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ICE GOLEM Hit Points: 6,500 Experience Given: 246 Gold Pieces Given: Not Available -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This guy is really easy. Have the Hero attack normally, while Phoebe uses Fire (Thunder isn't bad, either.) Ice Golem has a few nasty attacks, but nothing too bad. Have the hero cure as needed, but if you cured before the battle began, you should get through the battle without needing to heal, since the Fire spell takes off a considerable amount of damage. Now, you have restored the Crystal of Water. Yay! 2 down, 2 to go! Get the River Coin and then leave. Go back to Aquaria. ================================================================================ Location: AQUARIA Suggested Level: 17 Items Found: Refresher x3, Steel Helm Enemies: None Bosses: None ================================================================================ Buy Cure potions at the Inn if you want to, and buy the Steel Helm from the house in the northwestern side of the town. Climb into the lake and go behind Phoebe's house to get to Spencer's Place. ================================================================================ Location: SPENCER'S PLACE Suggested Level: 17 Items Found: Venus Key, Cure x3 Enemies: None Bosses: None ================================================================================ Keep on going down, it takes a while. When you finally get to the bottom, talk to Spencer. He will tell you about a lot of stuff, mainly Captain Mac, a hidden shield, and Fireburg. He will give you the Venus Key. ================================================================================ Location: FOCUS TOWER Suggested Level: 17 Items Found: Venus Shield, Blizzard Spell, Cure x3 Enemies: None Bosses: None ================================================================================ Skip all the battlefields on the way here. 2F: Use a bomb on the door and open the chest using the Venus Key to get the Venus Shield. Push the statue you see 2 left, 5 down, and 5 left. Continue left to get the Blizzard Spell. Exit the tower and go in the other entrance. Go down the stairs. 1F: Go back left, through the yellow door, then open the blue one. Go up the stairs, and then go down. Jump across the statue, head left, and go up the stairs. 3F: Exit! ================================================================================ Location: FIREBURG Suggested Level: 17 Items Found: Refresher x3, Battle Axe, Multi Key, Mega Grenade Enemies: None Bosses: None ================================================================================ Skip over the battlefields. Find Tristam in the hotel. Buy some Seeds from the guy in the ticket booth. Go to the house next to the hotel and talk to Reuben, who will join you. Now, use the claw to go down the vine on the front of the hotel. Go to the house, which is locked. Go back and talk to Tristam to get the Multi Key from him. This allows you to open any locked door. Yay. Go back to the locked house and unlock it. Go in, and learn about the Mine, and gain the Mega Grenades. Buy the Battle Axe from the remaining house, and leave the town. Let's clear out those battlefields! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BATTLEFIELD #10 Location: North of Libra Temple Enemies: Phanquid, Sphinx Reward: Exit Spell Notes: Just keep on attacking. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BATTLEFIELD #11 Location: North of Wintry Temple Enemies: Freezer Crab, Gather Reward: None Notes: Just keep on attacking. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BATTLEFIELD #12 Location: West of Focus Tower (Fireburg) Enemies: Jelly Reward: None Notes: Just keep on attacking. The main thing to get in here is the Charm Claw. To get it, go towards the center and bomb the blocked room. There are other blocked rooms in here, but they just contain minor items like Cure Potions and Bombs. To get out of here, go down the gondola, go south, go east, climb up using the claw, go north, and go east. Heal and fight. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- JINN Hit Points: 6,000 Experience Given: 504 Gold Pieces Given: 15 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Make sure to kill off the Red Bones before going after Jinn. The Red Bones are not that bad of enemies, but the longer they are there, the more damage that can be caused to you, so get them out of the way first. You'll thank yourself later. After they are out of the way, have Reuben attack or use Life magic. Life restores all of a character's hit points while they are still alive, by the way. Have the Hero use Thunder magic or just attack with a Mega Grenade. He doesn't really have much weaknesses, so just hack away on him and he will die eventually. After this, go through the door and go right. Watch the scene, then leave. ================================================================================ Location: SEALED TEMPLE Suggested Level: 20 Items Found: Heal x3, Cure x3 Enemies: None Bosses: None ================================================================================ Use the Gemini tile to talk to the Old man. That's it. ================================================================================ Location: FIREBURG Suggested Level: 20 Items Found: None Enemies: None Bosses: None ================================================================================ Go to Reuben's house and talk to Arion. He will tell you go to to the Lava Dome. So.. head out of here, but rest up and buy more seeds before doing so! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BATTLEFIELD #17 Location: West of Volcano Enemies: Ghost, Red Bone, Zombie Reward: None Notes: Use cure magic on the undead enemies, and Mega Grenades, as well. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================================================================================ Location: VOLCANO Suggested Level: 20 Items Found: Cure x9, White Spell, Refresher x3, Heal x9, Mask, Bomb x20 Enemies: Ghost, Nitemare, Red Bone, Were Wolf Bosses: Medusa ================================================================================ Go right, then up. Go left and keep going until you get the White spell, which is one of the better ones in the game. Yay! Go up the stairs, and get the chest. Go back to the very beginning of the volcano. Go left, up, and jump to the right, then go up the stairs. Go left and get the Mask, then go right, heal, and fight. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MEDUSA Hit Points: 2,500 Experience Given: 510 Gold Pieces Given: 15 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As usual, kill off the other enemies, then focus on her. She is resistant to pretty much any magic.. except White. So use it, religiously. Have Reuben attack, or heal (Life magic) when needed. She ain't that tough, and will die soon enough. After this, take the stairs and leave. ================================================================================ Location: LAVA DOME Suggested Level: 22 Items Found: Cure x39, Heal x27, Refresher x6, Moon Helm, Life Spell, Bomb x50, Sun Coin Enemies: Adamant Turtle, Avizzard, Fangpire, Hot Wings, Iflyte, Ninja, Salamand, Stheno Bosses: Dualhead Hydra ================================================================================ Go right, and go down the stairs. Go down the next stairs, on the right hand side. Go left into the door. Go up, and go right when you see a red chest. Blow up the rock, and get the Life spell from the red chest. Go back left, and go up using the claw. Go to the lower left (the other way leads to some bombs). Use the claw to go down, and then drop. Drop down one more level. Go left, then up. Go up the stairs, and go left. Go left through the door. Go up, to the right, and get the three chests. Continue right, then down and keep going until you get to the exit. Push the switch, which will open the doors to the boss. Remember the chests that were surrounded by monsters? Go back there, then go to the upper left corner. Jump across the tiles, then bomb the rock. Go to the upper left corner and go up the stairs. Get the Moon Helm from the treasure chest. Go back to the three chests, and exit that room. Drop down to the next ledge, and go down the stairs. Go right, down the stairs, and get the chest. Then go up and through the door to the left. Follow the path, and in the second room, go up, then go back down and left. Go up the stairs and then to the ledge. Go left, then go right and down until you see a break in the wall. Jump across the gap. Go up and exit. Go through the next room, hacking up enemies. Go up using the claw. Go down the big stairway, and into the next room. Go down the small stairs to the right, and then go as far down as you possibly can. Go up these stairs, jump across the gap to the left, and then go down. Get all the items here, and thne leave. Go up, then right, then up, then right, then go down the stairs. Continue going down, then right, and go up the stairs. Go right, down, and left across the gap. Continue left, down, jump to the right, and go down the stairs. Use this exit. Go right and you will be at the big doors. Go in and up. Jump to the right and get the Cure potions. Jump the left, and go up. There's cure potions to the left and up. Go right and down, then go right. Heal, and fight. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DUALHEAD HYDRA Hit Points: 14,000 Experience Given: 429 Gold Pieces Given: Not Available -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I reccomend being on Level 25 before fighting him. He is not that tough, but can pull off some nasty attacks. I reccomend having the Hero keep on using White, while Reuben either attacks, cures, or uses Seeds when the Wizard magic counter of the Hero gets to zero. Have the Hero keep on using White, while Reuben heals and uses Seeds on the Hero, and this boss will soon succumb. Afterwards, the Crystal of Fire will be restored. Yay! 3 down, 1 to go! Reuben says there is another crystal in Windia, which is southeast of the Focus Tower. Watch as the Volcano erupts all over the mountains. Get the Sun Coin from the the chest. Jump to the right, and keep going until you exit the place. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BATTLEFIELD #18 Location: East of Volcano Enemies: Iflyte, Stheno Reward: None Notes: These guys are very dangerous, so pull off attacks like White magic. The fact that they are all unprepared attacks, meaning they attack first, certainly does not help the situation. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - ================================================================================ Location: FOCUS TOWER/DOOM CASTLE Suggested Level: 26 Items Found: Aero Spell Enemies: Chimera, Minotaur Zombie, Shadow Bosses: None ================================================================================ Enter via Aquaria entrance. 1F: Go down through the yellow door, and go into the purple door. Kaeli is in Aquaria, so go back there. ================================================================================ Location: AQUARIA Suggested Level: 26 Items Found: None Enemies: None Bosses: None ================================================================================ Go to Phoebe's house. Kaeli is in bed and Phoebe is tending to her. Phoebe tells you to see Spencer, so do so. Go to Spencer's Place and talk to him. Tristam will give you the Dragon Claw. Take the path until you get to another door. Go up, right, and then down. Cross the gap down for some chests, then go back up, and go up, using the claw. Go through the door. 5F: Turn right and go up. Heal, and fight. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GIDRAH Hit Points: 13,000 Experience Given: 729 Gold Pieces Given: 18 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This boss is really weak against Aero, so use Meteor and Aero for a quick win. Heal as needed, but you shouldn't have to, especially if you healed before the battle begun. Talk to the closed door, and the Giant Tree will carry you to Windia. Use Exit when he is done. ================================================================================ Location: KAIDGE TEMPLE Suggested Level: 30 Items Found: Cure x3 Enemies: None Bosses: None ================================================================================ Just talk to the old man, get some cure potions, and leave. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BATTLEFIELD #19 Location: West of Kaidge Temple Enemies: Ooze, Skuldier, Water Hag Reward: 2800 EXP Notes: Aero the Skuldiers, Bomb the Oozes and Water Hags. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BATTLEFIELD #20 Location: South of Windia Enemies: Waterhag, Vampire Reward: 2700 EXP Notes: Use your strongest attacks. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================================================================================ Location: WINDIA Suggested Level: 30 Items Found: Heal x9, Refresher x3, Bombs x10 Enemies: None Bosses: None ================================================================================ Buy the Cupid Locket from the woman in the first house to the left. Heal, and fight. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DULLAHAN Hit Points: 14,000 Experience Given: 750 Gold Pieces Given: 21 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Use Aero the first round, and both Vampires will die. Now, focus your attention on Dullahan. He is weak against Meteor, so have the hero use it, while Kaeli uses Cure or Aero. He has some strong attacks, including some that kill instantly, so beware of those. Make sure you always have a Life spell ready just in case. After you win, use Exit. ================================================================================ Location: WINDIA Suggested Level: 32 Items Found: None Enemies: None Bosses: None ================================================================================ Go to the Inn and talk to the old woman in the northern section to buy some seeds. When it is up, he will counter attack anything you do with a strong Wind attack. He will put it back down after about three or four turns, sometimes even five. He won't do anything while he has his shield up, so that is a great time to cure. When his shield is not up, use Flare and Aero to knock him on his behind. When he dies, you will go up the elevator, and the Crystal of Wind will be restored. Yay! You restored all 4 crystals! Collect the Sky Coin from the red chest, then cast Exit. ================================================================================ Location: WINDIA Suggested Level: 34 Items Found: None Enemies: None Bosses: None ================================================================================ Go to Otto's. This place isn't that bad, just follow the path usually. B2: Walk over to the right most ladder and make your way all the way south. Blow up the bones in the lower right hand corner and get the Aegis Shield. Follow the path along, blowing up bones, and soon you will get to the boss. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SKULLRUS REX Hit Points: 10,000 Experience Given: 759 Gold Pieces Given: Not Available -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- He ain't bad, just use Flare and White and he will die. 4F: Just hit all the statues, and once all the doors are open, go through the north door. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- STONE GOLEM Hit Points: 10,000 Experience Given: 762 Gold Pieces Given: Not Available -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- He is weak against White, so use it. Head down one level, and the stones are now gone. 5F: Go to the edge of the lava. Jump up 4 times, right 8 times, and go down, using the claw. Go up to the other edge, jump up 4 times, go to the left edge, jump left three times, down four times, and go left, using the claw. Jump up six times, head left, go down, right, and up. Go up, right, down, through the door, right, up the first chance you get, up the staircase, down, left, up, left, down, and right. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ZUH Hit Points: 20,000 Experience Given: 750 Gold Pieces Given: Not Available -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Zuh is just like Pazuzu, so use the same strategy. 7GF: Go up, get the chests, heal, and save. Guess who's in the next room? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DARK KING Hit Points: 40,000 Experience Given: Not Available Gold Pieces Given: Not Available -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You can use two strategies against him. One, you can have the Hero use Cure on him, and he will die in about 2 or 3 hits. That's a cheap way at doing it, but it's VERY effective. Otherwise, you can do it the normal way. Use Flare and White for 2 rounds. He will add weapons to all his hands. Cure, and keep cured. Use refreshers and seeds if you need to. Then, keep on using Flare and White. He will soon turn into a spider. Have Phoebe cure every round, while the Hero uses Flare. He will then turn into an Octopus. Have Phoebe keep on curing, while the Hero keeps using Flare, and he will soon die. Congratulations! Enjoy the ending! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- ----- 5.0 Boss Guide -------------------------------------------------------- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MINOTAUR Hit Points: 240 Experience Given: 102 Gold Pieces Given: 30 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you are on Level 3, this battle will be a lot easier, believe me. First off, have the hero use his normal attacks, while Kaeli uses her regular axe chops, as well. But, there is an easier way to win this battle. Have Kaeli cast Life on Minotaur and it will do a lot more damage. All in all, this battle really isn't that hard, especially if you got to Level 3 like I asked :) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FLAMERUS REX Hit Points: 2,200 Experience Given: 120 Gold Pieces Given: Not Available -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Have Tristam keep on attacking, while the Hero can either use Quake or use Cure, either one will do a decent amount of damage. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PAZUZU Hit Points: 25,000 Experience Given: 618 Gold Pieces Given: Not Available -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This battle is pretty easy, as long as you remember not to attack him when he puts up his Psychshield. When it is up, he will counter attack anything you do with a strong Wind attack. He will put it back down after about three or four turns, sometimes even five. He won't do anything while he has his shield up, so that is a great time to cure. When his shield is not up, use Flare and Aero to knock him on his behind. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SKULLRUS REX Hit Points: 10,000 Experience Given: 759 Gold Pieces Given: Not Available -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- He ain't bad, just use Flare and White and he will die. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- STONE GOLEM Hit Points: 10,000 Experience Given: 762 Gold Pieces Given: Not Available -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- He is weak against White, so use it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TWIN HEAD WYVERN Hit Points: 15,000 Experience Given: 600 Gold Pieces Given: Not Available -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Use Meteor and White to knock him out. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ZUH Hit Points: 20,000 Experience Given: 750 Gold Pieces Given: Not Available -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Zuh is just like Pazuzu, so use the same strategy. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- ----- 6.0 Battlefield Guide ------------------------------------------------- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BATTLEFIELD #1 Location: North of Level Forest Enemies: Mad Plant, Poison Toad Reward: None Notes: These guys are easy, just have Tristam take out the Mad Plants and the hero take out the Poison Toads. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BATTLEFIELD #3 Location: East of Sand Temple Enemies: Minotaur Zombie, Sand Worm Reward: None Notes: These guys aren't too bad, as they were also found in the Bone Dungeon. Rather than the typical MP system, all spells are considered to be of the same value of usages. For instance, if it says 11 under the White menu, that means that you can use Exit 11 times, or you could use Cure 5 times and Exit 3 times and Heal 3 times. All spells within a certain type of magic will always be equal. However, different types of magic have different amounts of uses. Wizard magic will always have the least amount of maximum uses because it features the most powerful of all magics! ===================================WHITE MAGIC================================== -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Name: Cure Description: It restores a character's or party's hit points. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- ----- 12.0 Secrets, Codes, etc. --------------------------------------------- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- ----Here is a list of secrets and codes for this game.---- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BEAT THE DARK KING EASILY! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Use Cure magic on the Dark King to knock him out in 2 or 3 rounds. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 99 FOR EACH SPELL -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After you beat the whole game, save right before you defeat the Dark King. Now go to fight until you get to level 41. You should have around 42 White Spells, 21 Black Spells, and 1O Wizard Spells. Now fight until you get around 1O,OOO,OO Extra Points. Your spells should have increased by 2 or 3! Do this until you have 99 in all three types of Spells. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BEAT SKULLRUS REX EASILY -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The first part of Doom Castle is guarded by another version of Flamerous Rex called Skullrus Rex.Ê Most people would sigh and use all the magic in their inventory.Ê Instead, just equip the hero with the Dragon Claw and scratch him once and he goes down.Ê His ninja flunkies shouldn't be too much trouble after that. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DEFEAT MINOTAUR ZOMBIE EASILY -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When you first start a game, you have to get Kaeli and go to the Level Forest to defeat the monster that poisened the trees. His name is Minotaur and is really easy to defeat. When he attacks Kaeli, you have to fight him. To kill him instantly, have Kaeli use the Life Spell on him and he's automatically defeated! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DOUBLE LEVEL UP -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When you fight in a battle field, fight the first nine battles and leave one. Go somewhere besides a battle field (for instance, the Bone Dungeon) and get to where your exp. points are very, very low.ÊAbout 1-100. Go to a battle field where you don't win anything and defeat the last battle.Ê You'll get two level ups instead of one. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FULL HEAL -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Using the Cure spell 4-5 times to heal yourself and quaffing tons of cure potions can be very annoying. To get a full heal, just use the Life spell. This works IN and OUT of battle, so when you find a boss that has a special attack that can mutilate your party in a few hits, use a Life spell to pump hp's back up. :) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GET PHOEBE TO JOIN WITH 680 HIT POINTS -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When Phobe joins press A 3 times to get her to join as a 680 hp character. She will be a powerful ally for a long time if you take care of her. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GET THE DRAGON CLAW SOONER -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Normally you're not expected to have the amount of money Tristan wants for the dragon claw when he gets it and offers to sell it. If you want to spend time trying to get $9000, though, he'll give it to you. Unfortunately this can take about as long as it would for you to normally get the dragon claw, depending how frivolous you are in spending your money. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- INFINITE POTIONS -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- At the beginning of the game, at the first forest, there is a treasure box carrying potions. Take the potions and leave the forest. Now go back to the forest and the treasure box will be full of potions again! Repeat this process until you have as many potions as you want. NOTE: You can do this in any town, forest, dungeon, etc. that has a treasure box with any kind of healing item in it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SUPER HEAL SPELL -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Once you get your Heal Spell,( Falls Basin ) you can really hurt an enemy. If you use your Heal Spell on an enemy, it could put them to sleep, paralyze them, poisen them, confuse them, and petrify them!! It works well against those enemys that are hard to kill!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ULTIMATE SPELLS -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Exit and Life Spells are very deadly. Most people think that the Exit Spell will stop the battle you are currently in, and most people think that the Life Spell will bring an enemy back to Life you have defeated! Well, the Life Spell kills almost everybody unless they are strong against fatal attacks. The Exit Spell kills everybody except the bosses. Have fun liquidating your enemys!!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- USING BATTLEFIELDS WISELY -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In the game, go to a battlefield and fight a couple times. Then leave for something else. When you get to a part of the game where you need more power, go back to the battlefields and clear it out. Then, when you come back you won't have to go through everything all over again! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GAME GENIE CODES -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Code Description Type ---- ----------- ---- EE20-DF0F Skip EXP and GP after battle Battle EE20-DDDD Skip EXP and GP after battle (alternate) Battle EE29-DDDD Shortened battle text Battle EE23-D464 Attack multiple enemies Battle EE2D-DD04 Attack multiple enemies (alternate 1) Battle EE23-D4A4 Attack multiple enemies (alternate 2) Battle EE26-DD0F Change Benjamin's name during battle * Battle AA22-D40D Level up after battle: Black Out (?)
