Humanity has created a utopian world based on industrialism and expansion... but it would not last. Politics and the need for power have corrupted the world's leaders, and invaders from other worlds have taken the opportunity to destroy the world. The once great human cities have been destroyed and only a few patches of human existence remain. Some freedom fighters still exist, and now they fly their ships into enemy territory to defeat the aliens and save the world. The game was released for the Neo Geo in 1992. =============================================================================== ===== 2.0 THE BASICS ========================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.1 Game Start ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Press Start to begin the game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.2 On-Screen Display ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1P = ===== This shows the player's current score. H power ======== The H pick-up gives you cluster missiles. L power ======== The L pick-up gives you lasers. G power ======== The G power is two missiles that fly above and below you. S power ======== This will boost your speed and maneuverability. Z power ======== This will slow you down, so avoid it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.5 Ship Levels ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Level 1 - Just the ship with no orb. Level 2 - The orb and its green bullets. Level 3 - The orb and some lasers or missiles, depending on the power. Level 4 - The orb with maxed out lasers or missiles. =============================================================================== ===== 3.0 WALKTHROUGH ========================================================= ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.1 City Wasteland ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ah, the beginnning. Or should I say the middle, as you and your ship are already in the middle of a battle when the game begins. One thing you may not know about this type of shooter game: shoot everything! Don't go dodging attacks when you can easily shoot everything. This will also yield the valuable pick-ups which give you weapons boosts. Simply your way over the highway (you can shoot cars for bonus points) and concentrate your fire on the big guys when they appear. Once you reach the tunnel you'll be at the first check point. The tunnel will become very crowded very quickly, so if you have an orb I suggest you press B to lock it in front of you, then start spinning and firing. This will cause the orb to shoot in all directions and clear enemies that aren't just in front of you. Stick to the top of the screen to avoid the large floating guys, then attack the tank by staying above it, not on its sides. When you reach the end of the tunnel you will have reached the second checkpoint. Clear out the remaining small ships and that one big guy to get to an open area near a large crater. From that crater will emerge a terminator-like robot... of doom! Boss: Half-destroyed metal skeleton! This guy's already pretty trashed, so it's a cinch. Stay to the left and line up with the red orb where his twig 'n berries should be. Charge up your orb and keep firing at the crotch for a few seconds and immediately move down to avoid the fireball. If you stay to the far left his charge won't reach you, then you're free to resume pummeling his crotch. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.2 Flooded Wasteland ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It starts off somewhat like the previous stage. Get the H power from the first group of enemies and put those cluster missiles to work. Your orb may be free to rotate around, but I prefer to lock it in front as a shield in case of an emergency. Move up and down while shooting to get through the first enemies then begin firing at the snake's head when it appears. Use charged orbs to make it easier. A short distance after the snake you'll reach the ruins. Here you have openings where ship after ship appear. If you have the orb I suggest you to get to the opposite side (so if a ship launcher is below you, go up). Position the orb to fire at the ship launcher while your ship fires straight ahead to kill off incoming ships. Get past the three ship launchers to get to the eye of the needle. I call this stretch eye of the needle because getting through the mass of orange shots is like literally threading a needle. First, destroy the top and bottom rows of guns at the entrance by shooting straight at them. When you get to the middle it's best to pick the top or bottom, destroy the first gun in the row then fly along the floor or ceiling, depending on what you chose. Position the orb so it is in front of your ship but is firing straight up, to shoot the top guns. You fire straight ahead to take out the guns in your row. The orb is the only thing that can destroy the orange shots, so if it gets tight you can move and use the orb to clear a path. Get rid of the first few guns at the tunnel exit and then clear a path to quickly fly out. After that these guys should be easy. Shoot straight ahead to get rid of any enemies in your way, then prepare for another claustrophobic fight. Boss: Big floating trash heap! This guy's fairly easy to beat. His green snake things only fly through the middle, and his flamethrower never reaches the far left. Stay to the far left and fire at the long red, uh... thing at the front of the junk pile. Some small enemies will appear, but they're nothing. Keep firing your charged orb to defeat the mighty trash heap. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.3 Cave Lair ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oh boy, you get to fight more of those lovely orange cannons. This first part of the stage with the ship will require a keen eye and some patience. Stay to the left and keep firing to shoot enemies that appear from the right, but don't get too close to the ship as that will probably get you killed. Use your charged orb to blow up the cannons on the ship's surface and keep firing forward to stop missiles and robots from reaching you. The ship will come up about four times, and after the fourth you'll move on to fly over dry land. The next stretch is pretty simple. Remain on the left side and up in the air so the small ships will fly up to attack. As long as you keep firing forward and avoid enemies you'll be fine. At the end of the cave you'll fight a floating metal eye. Shoot the eye and avoid his two small lasers when he fires them. The various small enemies should be easy to destroy. Fly along and destroy all enemies until you get to the large yellow robot. Boss: Gargantuan yellow robot! This guy has the same red orb that shoots fireballs, and it is also the weak spot. Charge your orb and fire straight at the red eye when it opens, but don't wait for the fireball to fly out and destroy you. Keep shooting and dodging to continue. The next phase involves attacking another red eye, but this one's on the top. Charge your orb and simply hold the orn next to the red eye. Sit there and attack then dodge the missiles when they come flying out. Also stay away from the middle as that is where some fireballs will shoot from the ground. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.4 Volcano Lair ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- One bit of advice: H power! With the fully powered H power you can sit back and fire to easily kill off most of the enemies. Make your way through hordes until you get to the floating lasers/asteroids. Get past the first really low asteroid and then stick as close to the ground as you can. From there just move left and right and use the orb to dodge orange shots. After a while on the ground you'll see a large spinning contraption. Shoot as many of the spinning things as possible and slip through underneath it. The next part requires precise movements. Collect any items you spot and then move forward past the first top column. Wait at the top between the first and second top column and then move forward when a space opens up. Stay along the top and move forward until you're left of the last short column in the row. Wait there until a gap opens and then rush forward. Get to the bottom and destroy those rotating guns to slip through, much like last time. You'll have to tap the control up and down to get through the gauntlet of flat platforms, but it shouldn't be too tough. Get through large robots that toss red orbs by destroying them before they get a chance to drop the orbs. Next up are six large cannons that ride on the ceiling and ground. Position yourself at about the same level as the cannon opening and fire straight ahead, but keep your orb at an angle so it fires at the cannons below. The main targets are the cannons in the middle, so once you clear out the left ones you can aim for the large ones. The G power comes in handy for this part. Next up is a tough fight in yet another tight space. Boss: Mighty extending robotic thing! If you have the laser orb I suggest just staying in the entrance and shooting straight at the green eyes when they appear. If you have any other weapon just stay below or above the machine and wait for it to close, then give yourself some space to fire at the eyes. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.5 Outer Space ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fly forward and stick to the top-left corner to get rid of the top gun, then move your way down. Once you've broken off that piece of the ship you'll have to slip through the fireballs at the rear and destroy the cannon above the fireball launcher. Wait on the left and move up and down to avoid the lasers and destroy the laser cannons. Oy, talk about a good final challenge. Move ahead and then down into the bowels of the space ship, but make sure to shoot all cannons in the tunnel walls. Stay in the lower-left corner and shoot straight into the room to fight off the enemy dudes, then retreat once that part is over. The next section is a doozy. Destroy the two cannons next to the robot launcher, then lock the orn below the ship and shoot the robots as you fly over. Also move around to shoot any missiles that my wander up to you from the next set of cannons. Once you get to the missiles some lasers will also appear. Remain over the missiles and leave the orb loose so it can shield you against missiles while you shoot at them and maneuver around lasers. When the screen starts to move again make your way to the right and avoid the last few lasers. Man, what a trip! Now charge your orb and focus on that cannon at the front of the ship that fires orange shots. Once you destroy that the whole front-end will blow, so quickly fly past the flames and get under the ship. Move left and use charged orbs to destroy the ship launchers above. Remain at the bottom and shoot up to destroy that pod thing when it opens, then head to the right. That's the end of the ship, but there's still evil to defeat! Head through the obligatory asteroid field and destroy everything, as always. Grab the L power when you reach the yellowish tunnel and charge in to quickly destroy the first wall. Start at the top and move down while shooting to destroy them quickly. Head along and keep destroying walls until you get to the room at the end. Boss: Big ugly alien of doom! Stay to the far left and around the middle. From there you can shoot straight ahead and blast the big ugly thing on the right, but move up or down when the mouth shoots out a laser. If you've destroyed the big ugly alien of doom, congrats! You beat the game! =============================================================================== ===== 4.0 CODES & SECRETS ===================================================== None that I know of. =============================================================================== ===== 5.0 LEGAL / MISC. ======================================================= ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5.1 Version History ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- July 31: Version 0.9 - - - - - - - - - - - Fingers... sore... damn shooters.
