The objective is to invade your opponent's base with your ships. In this section you'll find the main rules and some other information you need to know. =-=-=-=-=-=-=- Rules of Ships =-=-=-=-=-=-=- 1) You can have up to 4 deployed ships at a time. There is also a limit to the amount of every kind of ship you can deploy in one game (see the Ship Listing section for details). 2) You must use an Aircraft Carrier or Troop Transport if possible to be able to invade your enemy's base. 3) If a ship on one team comes close enough to a ship on another team, a siren will go off. Either player may press "Enlarge" at that time to go into combat mode. If one person decides they want to fight, the other does not really have a choice but to try to retreat after the battle has begun. Some Other Information You Need to Know --------------------------------------- 1) The Two Modes: Main and Combat In the main mode, the mode in which the game is started and the one that you usually spend most time in, you move your ships around, plant mines with mine layers, etc. In combat mode, which you can only play in if two ships from different teams come close enough together and a player presses enlarge, you actually get the opportunity to kill your opponent's ship. See the Ship Listing section for a little more elaboration on this. =-=-=-=- Controls =-=-=-=- ___________ | | | | | 1 | 2 | 3 | __|___|___|___|__ | | | | | | |L1| 4 | 5 | 6 |R1| |__|___|___|___|__| | | | | | | |L2| 7 | 8 | 9 |R2| |__|___|___|___|__| | | | | |CLR| 0 |ENT| |___|___|___| | | |CNTRL DISC | |___________| Control Disc - Move 1 - Aircraft Carrier 2 - Troop Transport 3 - Battleship 4 - Sub 5 - Destroyer 6 - PT Boat 7 - Mine Layer 9 - Mine Sweeper 8 - Engage/Retreat Clear - Create 0 - Stop Enter - Deploy L2/R2 - Fire L1/R1 - Aim ----------------------------------------------------------------------- S H I P L I S T I N G ----------------------------------------------------------------------- - FORMAT - Number of Ships: Amount of those ships you can make per game Speed: Maximum speed Resilience: Amount of damage the ship can take before sinking (defense) Weapon Type: Either gun or torpedo Weapon Strength: Amount of damage the ship can cause Weapon Range: Firing distance from the ship Acceleration & Maneuverability: Self-explanatory. - AIRCRAFT CARRIER - Number of Ships: 1 Speed: 30 knots Resilience: 25 - moderate armor Weapon Type: Gun Weapon Strength: 10 - moderate Weapon Range: Long Acceleration & Maneuverability: Slow - TROOP TRANSPORT - Number of Ships: 1 Speed: 30 knots Resilience: 25 - heavy armor Weapon Type: Gun Weapon Strength: 7 - weak Weapon Range: Very short Acceleration & Maneuverability: Sluggish - BATTLE-SHIP - Number of Ships: 2 Speed: 35 knots Resilience: 30 - very heavy armor Weapon Type: Gun Weapon Strength: 12 - strong Weapon Range: Long Acceleration & Maneuverability: Average - SUBMARINE - Number of Ships: 1 Speed: 35 knots Resilience: 15 - light armor Weapon Type: Torpedo Weapon Strength: 20 - very strong Weapon Range: Very long Acceleration & Maneuverability: Quick - DESTROYER - Number of Ships: 3 Speed: 40 knots Resilience: 15 - light armor Weapon Type: Gun Weapon Strength: 9 - moderate Weapon Range: Moderate Acceleration & Maneuverability: Quick - PT BOAT - Number of Ships: 2 Speed: 40 knots Resilience: 5 - none Weapon Type: Torpedo Weapon Strength: 12 - strong Weapon Range: Short Acceleration & Maneuverability: Very quick - MINE LAYER - Number of Ships: 1 Speed: 20 knots Resilience: 20 knots Weapon Type: Gun Weapon Strength: 6 - weak Weapon Range: Very short Acceleration & Maneuverability: Average - MINE SWEEPER - Number of Ships: 2 Speed: 30/15 knots Resilience: 20 - light armor Weapon Type: Gun Weapon Strength: 6 - weak Weapon Range: Very short Acceleration & Maneuverability: Average ----------------------------------------------------------------------- T I P S ----------------------------------------------------------------------- * Surround your base with three ships and explore with only one at a time. Be careful with what ships you use and when you use them. * Look at what your opponent's ships every once and awhile and try to remember what ship is what by looking at them while fighting in combat mode. If you see a ship stopping in a spot for a few seconds, see it move to a new spot, stop there for a few seconds, and so on, they may be laying mines. As you may have figured out, observing is a major key to getting good at Sea Battle. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- C O N C L U S I O N ----------------------------------------------------------------------- =-=-=-=-=-=-=- Copyright Info =-=-=-=-=-=-=- This document is Copyright (c) 2002 the author, Alxs, all rights reserved.
