CVXFREAK approached me about taking over the guide, and I accepted. Also, Completed the "Walkthrough" and "Characters" sections, as well as the "Weapons" section, and a huge chunk of the "Items" section is done. Added the "Coming Soon" to the File section, too. I've been busy! If you see the name "ZoopSoul," "ZoopNOVA," or "David 'Zoop' McCutcheon" anywhere, I'm all the same person. No confusion, no hassle. Keepin' it reeeaaal. Or something. SEPTEMBER 3, 2002 UPDATE: Played the U.S. version, so I made some changes. Oh yeah, and the Russian Roulette is gone! AUGUST 20, 2002 UPDATE: I added more to the walkthrough, all the way to the area after controlling Oyu. AUGUST 18, 2002 UPDATE: I changed my e-mail address. Blame it on Klez. AUGUST 13, 2002 UPDATE: I worked on the walkthrough some more, after getting off my lazy behind. JULY 5, 2002 UPDATE: After getting off my lazy behind, I started working on the walkthrough again. JUNE 18, 2002 UPDATE: Worked on the walkthrough some more. JUNE 17, 2002 UPDATE: Worked on the walkthrough big time today. I covered the CAVE areas, and the PALACE that appears in the first Onimusha game. I also added more monsters. JUNE 16, 2002 UPDATE: I _FINALLY_ received the game! I started playing it, and I started the walkthrough. I know the FAQ is horribly incomplete right now, but that's because there is no language options (It's completely in Japanese, unlike Genma Onimusha and Onimusha: Warlords. But many of the sections have been worked out so far, and more work will progress throughout the summer. JUNE 8, 2002 UPDATE: Added more to the FAQ. JUNE 1, 2002 UPDATE: Ordered the game, formatted the FAQ. ======================================================================== CONTENTS ======================================================================== 1. ONIMUSHA 2: SAMURAI'S DESTINY FAQ INTRODUCTION ======================================================================== This FAQ covers the American version of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny for the Sony PlayStation 2. Onimusha: Warlords, Genma Onimusha, and Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny are copyright 2002 by Capcom Japan. I don't own any of the rights to those games. This FAQ may only be found on: www.gamefaqs.com www.neoseeker.com www.psxcodez.com Those websites keep the FAQ up to date, and are the most visited websites based on the PlayStation 2 console. This FAQ was originally for the Japanese version, but since has been cleaned up and in line for the American version. CVXFREAK's lines are intended for the Japanese version and move correctly with the American version, and ZoopSoul's part is intended for the American version solely. Relax, and enjoy this walkthrough and extras. Onto the FAQ. ======================================================================== 2. GAME BASICS ======================================================================== A. CONTROLS ----------- SQUARE: Slash sword R1: Ready sword, before slashing with SQUARE L1: Defense START: Item Screen SELECT: Options CIRCLE: Confirm/Action button X BUTTON: Absorb souls in battle RIGHT ANALOG STICK: Access the map D-PAD: Move character FORWARD + SQUARE: Striking attack B. FIGHTING TACTICS ------------------- SLASH, SLASH, SLASH! Kill and don't stop slashing. You may end up kicking a few enemies, but press UP to keep slashing. Try to stab them when they're on the ground for an instant kill. IMPALE DOWNWARD! Mention above and also one of the overlooked aspects of Onimusha 2 lies in the fact that, once your opponent is down, you can stand above them and, by pressing the Attack Button, you will take your sword through their body! This will instantly kill most any enemy. ABSORB ALL SOULS! Yes, they are crucial to your survival. The more orbs you get, the more upgrading you can do. If you're low on health, look for the ever-so- important Yellow souls. This will definitely help you when trying to save your herbs and medicines. LOOK FOR CHESTS! Inside the chests are items which can heal Jubei in time of need. GREEN HERBS are usually what are in there, though you might see other items, too. GRAB THE GOLD! In the ground after killing monsters are gold. They have value, and rest in different amounts. You can use Gold to buy things at the Mart in the Village. Grab all of the Gold that you can! SUPER JUBEI! Possibly, if you've killed enough monsters, and absorb their souls, you might become SUPER JUBEI! Resembling Super Dante in Devil May Cry, he becomes way more powerful. Unfortunately, it lasts for a few seconds only. SPECIAL CHARACTER CHESTS! If you see a chest that you cannot open with Jubei, it usually means that you need a Special Character to bust it open, such as Magoichi, or Kotaro. These chests are made specifically for the Special Character in mind, so don't bother with them if you're Jubei. LET PEOPLE HELP YOU! Every so often, some guy with a shotgun or a big guy will assist you in battle. They will help you, and in some cases, even help against bosses. C. HEALTH --------- YELLOW ORBS These recharge your health. They come when Jubei's health is low. Try to collect these as much as possible. GREEN HERB Like BioHazard/Resident Evil, this recharges a little bit of health to Jubei. You can transform this into MEDICINE by spending PURPLE ORBS in the MAGIC MIRROR. MEDICINE These can sometimes be found in chests, but you can upgrade GREEN HERBS to these by spending a certain amount of PURPLE ORBS. D. ORBS ------- After killing off demons and getting that symbol marked on your hand, you can absorb orbs that fly into the air. Here are the orbs in the game encountered thus far. Small orbs usually provide a little bit of what they offer, while middle sized ones offer moderate gifts. Giant ones offer a whole lot. YELLOW ORBS These recharge your health. They come when Jubei's health is low. Try to collect these as much as possible. PURPLE ORBS These fill up the gauge on the bottom. It is basically money used for powering up your swords and armor. Use these on MAGIC MIRRORS when powering up your supplies. BLUE ORBS Apparently, BLUE ORBS can be collected. Enough of them will turn you into SUPER JUBEI. E. SAVING --------- In the game, there are MAGIC MIRRORS (a wooden cage with a blue light in it). The first option to select is SAVE. You will need a PlayStation 2 Memory Card and 390 KB of data left to save the game. In the Japanese version, the first option is to save (when you examine the MAGIC MIRROR). Then select the first option given to you. F. CHARACTERS ------------- JUBEI YAGYU The main character, and not a pretty sight to look at, either. Regardless of his looks, his ass-kicking abilities are top notch. Jubei is a troubled man that is hell-bent on revenge for the fall of his village at the hands of Nobunaga. You will learn more about Jubei Yagyu along your journey... LORD NOBUNAGA ODA Nobunaga was once a great leader that was killed in a grave battle. Brought down to the demon world and resurrected as a future demon leader. Now the leader of the demon world, Nobunaga wishes to destroy every village that he can. This is the ghastly pale guy that you will see throughout the game. OYU Oyu is the leading female character of the game. Everything about this "Oyu" woman is a mystery, yet Jubei cannot leave her alone. If you wish to learn more about the fog-shaded Oyu, you will have to complete the game. MOGOICHI SAIGA My (Zoop's) favorite character in the game, Mogoichi Saiga is the gun- slinging, Japanese Clint Eastwood character in Onimusha 2. You will know who he is, as he's the only character that uses a gun! He's also a handy partner to have in boss battles, and he's shrouded by a certain touch of... elegance. EKEI ANKOKUJI Everything that Mogoichi Saiga is, Ekei Ankokuji is not. Elegant? Nope, he's a drunk. Graceful? Nope, he stumbles. A hopeless dreamer, Ekei's dream is to become a feudal lord, and Mogoichi scoffs at his dreams. Needless to say, they do not get along. He also enjoys dirty magazines. Enough said. KOTARO FUMA Kotaro is the girlish ninja from the Hojo Clan. "Girlish?" you say? Well, he is. He feels as if Jubei should not trust Oyu, as he seeks past her sexy charm. This only shrouds more mystery upon Oyu's figure already. Should Jubei trust Oyu, or Kotaro? GOGANDANTESS "I am Goooooogandantess, the greatest swordsman of all demons!" shouts Gogandantess, upon EVERY FREAKIN' TIME YOU SEE HIM. Regardless of the funny way he talks, and his odd obsession with his sword, and the way his scary nipples look, he truly IS the greatest swordsman of all demons. Despite the fact that he is IS evil, you can't help but like him, and his honorable ways... GINGHAMPHATTS This is the monster that you will encounter several times in your journey through the villages, and into the hellish world of Onimusha. He's obsessed with killing you, which isn't very nice. You can tell who he is, considering he has more legs than the casual monster, and he welds a huge axe. JUJUDORMAH This is the absolutely hideous looking beast-woman-thing that has an infatuation with Lord Nobunaga. You may know her as "That scary lady- monster with the Umbrella." Nevertheless, once you spot her, you WILL know who she is. TOKICHIRO This little old man is widely known for being a rare human amongst the demons. Not only is he the rare human, but he's also Lord Nobunaga's right-hand man. Whatever Lord Nobunaga requests, it is Tokichiro's job to deliver the goods. He's very intelligent, and is also known for his stint in the original Onimusha, as well. But the real question is: Who's uglier, Jubei or Tokichiro? G. WEAPON LIST -------------- YAGYU SWORD A family legacy passed down from generation to generation, the Yagyu Sword is your basic and generic sword with little value. It is extremely weak and will not kill enemies right away. BOW This is your common Bow in the series. It's used for shooting Arrows (regular), or Fire Arrows. Obviously, you want to save these for those pesky hard-to-reach enemies that you will encounter along the way. Also, be sure to not waste the Fire Arrows! TANEGASHIMA Whooooooo doggy! It's a shotgun! Kill those bunnies! All kidding aside, the Shotgun is a choice weapon for those Arrow Shooters from far away, or if you're feelin' lucky, punk, you can also take out most boss enemies fairly easy with this gun-slinging... uh... gun. BURAITOU This will be your first "Prove Your Identity" weapon, and one of the most useful weapons in the game. The Buraitou is a nasty sword that takes a good nick out of your enemy here and there. If you enjoy using swords, this will be your prime weapon of choice. Enjoy! HYOUJIN-YARI This is the weapon commonly known as the "Ice Lance." It shivers with delight! This is a great weapon for ass-kicking in any size. This is the preferred weapon against those pesky ALLIGATORS and MASKED WOMEN. The special attack is to die for, as well. You will be zipping through the bosses in no time with this handy weapon by your side! SENPUMARU The coolest weapon to pronounce is the Senpumaru. It is also known as the "Wind Blade" by most gamers. It has the same effects as the one from the first Onimusha title, except Jubei's swing it with a tad bit more grace than his competition. Graceful or not, you can kick major butt with this bad boy. DOKOUTSUI Known commonly as the "Earth Hammer" amongst Onimusha 2 players, the Dokoutsui is one of the best weapons in the game, and is the strongest weapon in the game. By the time that you get this baby up to Level 3, you will have quite the advantage over the competition. REKKA-KEN A fire-drenched sword of pure power! This is the best weapon in the game, bar none. You will have to earn it in the PURPLE PHANTHOM REALM, though, which is no easy task! ======================================================================== 3. WALKTHROUGH ======================================================================== ************************************************************************ HUNTING FOR POWER ************************************************************************ After listening to the prologue which documents the events in Onimusha: Warlords/Genma Onimusha, a war goes on in Yagyu Village. People are murdered, and snakes are everywhere. A lone warrior, Jubei, walks into the village. He sees a dead corpse, and hears a voice, calling him. VILLAGE Run down from the camera angle and down a set of stairs. You'll see a cut-scene with a wounded man. Suddenly, the poor guy is attacked by three soldiers, engaging you into battle. You will begin battling them, so use your sword (Yagyu Sword) and slash them all to pieces. They fall after one hit, but get up after a while, so make sure they're dead. After the battle, run all the way down under a red entrance pier toward the forest area. Go through the door at the end. FOREST PATH Run to the left and kill a few more soldiers. Check the chest across the bridge for a YAGYU VILLAGE MAP. You'll hear someone calling Jubei, too, so follow the path. Go through a double door at the end. SPRING Watch the cut-scene by walking forward. A door opens, and a woman (Jubei's mother) continues to call for your voice. To the left of the spring is a MAGIC MIRROR where you can save your game and upgrade, just like the first Onimusha. But for now, move across the stones and through the cave door. CAVE Walk straight down the cave, and pass that purple glowing light. You'll see something rise from the ground, but continue down the cave. Go through the double doors at the end. POND HOUSE You'll see that a purple light turn into a woman, who has been calling you. She immobilizes Jubei and makes a symbol in his hand. She then tells a story and you get the CHARITY ORB and a file (PLAY INSTRUCTIONS), which tells about the controls in the game. To the left is a chest with a HERB inside of it. Like the Resident Evil/BioHazard series, GREEN HERBS heal some of your health. Return through the door you went through. CAVE Run back through here to the SPRING. On your way, you'll get attacked by a few soldiers, but this time after killing them, you can absorb their souls by pressing X after they die. That purple sphere you saw earlier contains souls that you can absorb. SPRING Skip across the stones again, and there's a chest hidden in the trees with a GREEN HERB. Go to the MAGIC MIRROR. Watch the cut-scene, and you'll get a new sword, which I only the last part's pronunciation because it's Katakana. Watch the following cut-scene. You'll see a cut- scene in the village. Jubei will be there, and will practically kick a few guys' asses. ************************************************************************ VILLAGE EXPLORATION ************************************************************************ VILLAGE STREET Run up the stairs you see in the distance. VILLAGE MARKET The chest nearby holds some kind of SPHERE in a holder. Run through the area and exit on the other side. VILLAGE BARN Run around and talk to everyone, and then exit the room. VILLAGE MARKET Run across back to the VILLAGE STREET. VILLAGE STREET Run across the area and through the open door at the end. GEAR HOUSE To your left, flip a switch to lower a lift. Then turn right and run across until you hit a barrel. Slash it with your sword, proceed, and slash all other barrels with the sword. If the lift rises before you can get on, use the switch pull again to lower it. Inside the chest is a CLOTH. Ride the lift up to a yellow chest with a BOW and ARROWS. Now ride the lift down and exit the room. VILLAGE STREET The chest nearby has a IMASHO MAP. Run left of the GEAR HOUSE and up a small flight of stairs. FOREST STAIRPATH Run up and kill every soldier you see. On the chest to the left is a TELESCOPE. Continue up the pathway and up the stairs. WOODED AREA Some man is blocking you from going further, so return down the stairs. FOREST STAIRPATH On your way back to the VILLAGE STREET, more soldiers will come, so kill them all and absorb their souls. VILLAGE STREET Run to the middle of the area and through an open door. It is a shop. VILLAGE BUILDING Run up and watch a cut-scene. Once it ends, go up the stairs in this room. You'll see a chest with a FOLDING FAN in it. Go back downstairs, and run to that spiked haired man. Run up to him, press start, and use the FOLDING FAN on him. You'll get a miscellaneous item from him. To the left of the stairs, you'll see a man guarding a door. Talk to him, and give him $100. You'll get a MOUNTAIN PERMIT. Run to an outside area in this room. There is a MAGIC MIRROR where you can save the game and upgrade your items. Upgrade your new SWORD. Exit the room. VILLAGE STREET Return to the FOREST STAIRPATH. FOREST STAIRPATH There will be more soldiers for you to battle, but Jubei will be able to take care of them by now. Run up to the WOODED AREA. WOODED AREA The man will now let you pass. Run up to the chest to get a BOOK. Run into the tunnel to see a cut-scene. Then run forward. ************************************************************************ CAVE AREAS ************************************************************************ WOODED CAVE Run forward to the MAGIC MIRROR and save, and upgrade. Run forward into the tunnel to the left of the MAGIC MIRROR. WOODED CAVE TUNNEL The chest nearby has a SCROLL in it. Now run up to the other chest and there's a puzzle to solve. ************ CHEST PUZZLE ************ There are 4 arrows. There are 2 on the right hand side and 2 on the bottom side. Press the TOP ARROW on the right side, and the LEFT ARROW on the bottom side. You'll get another SCROLL. Now return to the WOODED CAVE. WOODED CAVE Now take the tunnel right of the MAGIC MIRROR. WOODEN BAMBOO TUNNEL Walk up to the man and offer him your BERRIES. You'll get MEDICINE in return. Proceed further down the tunnel, and in the chest is a TUNNEL MAP. Proceed into another tunnel. ALLIGATOR TUNNEL You'll see a cut-scene with a new monster. It is the ALLIGATOR. The four of them are vicious, so watch out and use the TRIANGLE BUTTON as well as the SQUARE BUTTON to attack them. After killing them, proceed into the next tunnel. ALLIGATOR TUNNEL 2 Run up, and kill more ALLIGATORS. When you reach a fork, take the right path. ALLIGATOR TUNNEL 3 Run up, and kill all the ALLIGATORS. You'll then watch a cut-scene where people help you out. The game will resume with someone helping you. Continue fighting off ALLIGATORS. After it ends, watch another cut- scene. Follow everyone, after the cut-scene. CAVE TEMPLE In the chest on the right is a SCROLL. Run up to the podium and you'll see a cut-scene. You'll get a new weapon. It's a LONG SPEAR. It is super powerful. Return to the previous room. ALLIGATOR TUNNEL 3 Fight off more ALLIGATORS with your new LONG SPEAR. You'll get less orbs for using the powerful weapon, so switch to the SWORD you usually use just in case. Return to ALLIGATOR TUNNEL 2. ALLIGATOR TUNNEL 2 Remember the fork? Well, take the other path now. GLOWING OBJECT ROOM Watch the cut-scene, and you'll see a YELLOW JEWEL on the ground. Grab it, and head to the glowing object blocking an exit. Hit it with your LONG SPEAR. Then proceed down. LONG TUNNEL Run forward, and you'll see a chest with MEDICINE inside. Further down is a MAGIC MIRROR. Save and upgrade if you want. Further down is a stone door. You'll use a BLUE ORB to open it, so go through. MACHINE ROOM Watch the cut-scene with the first boss of the game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ BOSS # 1: GINGHAMPHATTS DIFFICULTY: HARD Well, take your SWORD and start slashing the hell out of the thing from behind. When you take control of Jubei, make sure you hit it fast and hard. It will block many shots it's facing. Don't be afraid to use GREEN HERBS to heal damage. At some point, the vicious monster will jump, so move out of the way to compensate. Keep hacking and slashing. Use the TRIANGLE BUTTON sword move, too. It'll also suck you up, so try to defend against it, because it'll swipe you. Eventually, the guy you saw earlier will show up to help, when the monster's really, REALLY pissed off. During the battle, don't forget to absorb souls. When the monster's pissed, don't be afraid to use the TRIANGLE BUTTON. It'll take a lot of hits to kill the monster. You'll need to use A LOT of healing items. Eventually, the monster will die after a load of assault. It'll give off a lot of orbs and jewels. Follow that guy into the tunnel. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ WOUNDED MAN TUNNEL Run passed the wounded man. Head down another tunnel. CHEST TUNNEL Run down, and destroy the brown stacks to reveal a chest. ******************** ANOTHER CHEST PUZZLE ******************** Here is the order of the puzzle: RIGHT ARROW, bottom side TOP ARROW, right side LEFT ARROW, bottom side BOTTOM ARROW, right side You'll get another scroll! Thanks to Enemy Zero for the solution in his PUZZLE SOLUTIONS FAQ! The other chest holds some kind of SPHERE. Now exit the room. WOUNDED MAN TUNNEL Talk to the wounded man to see a cut-scene. You'll be back in the VILLAGE BUILDING. ************************************************************************ VILLAGE/CAVES REVISITED ************************************************************************ VILLAGE BUILDING Return downstairs after the man gives you a RED RING. Save your game if you like and exit the room. VILLAGE STREET Return to the FOREST STAIRPATH. FOREST STAIRPATH Run down and you'll be attacked by MASKED WOMAN. They fight a lot like SOLDIERS, and are a little weaker in stamina, too. They like to flip away, though. Continue for the WOODED AREA. WOODED AREA Head into the WOODED CAVE. WOODED CAVE Take the right fork. WOODEN BAMBOO TUNNEL Proceed all the way down. ALLIGATOR TUNNEL Proceed all the way down again. ALLIGATOR TUNNEL 2 Kill everything in here. Then proceed to the next tunnel. In the fork, you'll get attacked by a SKELETON WARRIOR. Take the left fork. GLOWING OBJECT ROOM Those annoying monsters from Onimusha: Warlords and Genma Onimusha are back. The ROLLING MONSTERS do a lot of rolling around and hurt Jubei's health. Kick their asses with the LONG SPEAR. Those SOUL ABSORBING MONSTERS from the first Onimusha games are here, too, so kill them and take your souls back. Exit the tunnel. LONG TUNNEL Run down and use the MAGIC MIRROR if necessary. Then head into the MACHINE ROOM. MACHINE ROOM You'll be forced to do more fighting, so fight all these monsters. After prolonged fighting, enter the WOUNDED MAN TUNNEL. WOUNDED MAN TUNNEL See that gold thing in the middle? Use that RED RING in the item screen and then head down the hole it creates. ************************************************************************ UNDERGROUND AREAS ************************************************************************ UNDERGROUND TEMPLE Run forward to the giant door and after a cut-scene, fight off that GIANT TOAD. After you destroy two off them, the giant door will unlock. Go through. SPIRALING STAIRCASE ROOM Run up that spiraling staircase. You'll see a SKELETON MAN at the top. Use the TRIANGLE BUTTON to stop it. Climb the staircase. ************************************************************************ [GENMA] ONIMUSHA: WARLORDS PALACE ************************************************************************ PALACE COURTYARD Are we where I think we are? YES! We are in the infamous courtyard from the first Onimusha! Unfortunately, they are using the Resident Evil 3: Nemesis method of blocking off doors they don't want us to go through. Run toward the PALACE and you'll see a cut-scene. Then enter the PALACE. PALACE Fight off a load of ALLIGATORS. Look in the chest for the INCENSE gift. Take the door on the left hand side of the room. BLUE ORB ROOM Unfortunately, they took away the MAGIC MIRROR here. Absorb all the BLUE ORBS you can absorb. There is a puzzle here. ************* NUMBER PUZZLE ************* Place the 2 TILE on the bottom left corner. Place the 7 TILE on the top left corner. Place the 9 TILE on the bottom right corner. Take the double doors nearby. PALACE 2ND FLOOR Kill the monsters in here. Then take the door to the right of Jubei. PALACE ROOM Check the chest for a GREEN HERB. The shining item nearby is a PURIFY CHARM. Now examine the yellow wheel. Then return to the PALACE 2ND FLOOR. PALACE 2ND FLOOR Kill every monster, and then return to the TOP OF THE STAIRS. TOP OF THE STAIRS Go down the stairs. PALACE STAIRWAY Head to the door left of the stairs. TABLE ROOM See that dead body? Use the PURIFY CHARM you found on it, to get another BRONZE MASK (LEFT) on the ground. Grab it, and the YELLOW BOOK on the shelf. Exit the room. PALACE STAIRWAY Run to the PALACE MAGIC MIRROR ROOM. PALACE MAGIC MIRROR ROOM Run to those double doors. Remember the 2 BRONZE MASK PIECES you got? Use both of them on the door for it to open. MESS ROOM Watch the cut-scene. Then kill the SKELETON MEN. Also, normal attacks won't work. This is an extremely difficult boss. Just try to fight the monster off until that woman shows up. The battle is over... Zoop's Strategy: Don't even bother fighting it. Keep on guard at all times, and only strike it to defend yourself. You won't even injure him, so just play it out until it's over! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ LAVA TUNNEL Run forward. Climb the ladder at the end. PALACE YARD Remember this room? It's another room from the first Onimusha. Examine the big rock in the middle of the room. You'll get the FAITH ORB. We are now back in the village. ************************************************************************ WEIRD THINGS HAPPEN ************************************************************************ VILLAGE BARN YARD Exit this room. VILLAGE MARKET Run down this street and talk to a person with an Umbrella on their head. It is a monster, and you end up in the very first area of the game! VILLAGE See the broken door behind Jubei? Now you have to solve a puzzle. ************** CABINET PUZZLE ************** Ok if you mean the puzzle which you wanna input 4 kanji in right order then it was up 3 times, down 2 times, left 2 times, right 1 time. Gahleon Thankfully, Gahleon from the GameFAQS Onimusha 2 Message Board helped me out with this one. The first option you get is UP. Press the UP option 3 times. Then the second option, DOWN, should be pressed twice. Then press the LEFT option 2 times, and the RIGHT option once. A secret ladder will be revealed, so have Jubei descend into it. UNDERGROUND TUNNEL Run down the tunnel. You'll see a cut-scene where Jubei nearly falls down a trap, but luckily, he can jumps out of the way. Proceed forward (Jubei will jump over the hole). There are 3 ropes at the end. So break them, and a trap will be sprung. Run back to the hole and cross it so Jubei will be hanging on the edge. Wait until the blade bypasses Jubei so you can run down to where the blade was. To the right is the exit. CLIFFSIDE Save and upgrade your items if you must. There are crocodile creatures here, so be aware. After killing all the creatures, you'll see a chest you can't open. Along the way is a spinning blue wheel. Use your sword (second item in weapons section) and slash it for a NOBUNAGA'S KNOWLEDGE. Run forward, and up the ladder. Continue down the path and you'll see a blocked cave we need to unlock. Continue up the ladder nearby. Run forward and continue up the ladder. MOUNTAINSIDE BRIDGE Run across the bridge and use your ICE LANCE to kill those big creatures. They aren't hard to kill. Head down the stairs. MOUNTAINSIDE PATH There is a chest nearby you can open. Inside is a GREEN HERB which you might need right now, although you can save it. Head down to find another chest with a MAP inside it. Further down is a shrine of some sort. Have Jubei put his hand inside for another cut-scene. Jubei will get a new weapon, which is really powerful. I like to call it the BLADE. Nearby, you can save and upgrade. Try to upgrade your sword. MOUNTAINSIDE FOREST PATH Test out your new WIND BLADE by killing every monster in this room for orbs. You'll notice that Jubei's gotten a little faster and his new weapon is really powerful. Go further along the path. MOUNTAINSIDE ILLUSION FOREST PATH Go down, and you'll be presented with 2 paths to take. Take the path to the right. MOUNTAINSIDE FOREST PATH 2 Kill all the monsters here. Then proceed down. MOUNTAINSIDE FOREST PATH We're back here again, but how??? (I smell another Devil May Cry here!). Take the left path this time. MOUNTAINSIDE FOREST PATH 3 Kill all monsters, and then proceed down the path. MOUNTAINSIDE FOREST PATH OK, defeat that yellow creature. Then the real path will be revealed. Continue down the next few pathways, repeating this pattern. Defeat all the enemies, the yellow creatures, etc. in order to get to the real pathway. Along the way, a lot of those SHIELDED WARRIORS will appear, so dodge them. (You should go back and save before proceeding). MOUNTAINSIDE FOREST PATH 2 When the music changes, you're out of that stupid illusion. Move forward to watch a cut-scene with Jujudormah, the Umbrella woman. You'll then have to face Boss # 1 again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ BOSS # 3: GINGHAMPHATTS #2 DIFFICULTY: MEDIUM CVXFREAK's Strategy: He isn't nearly as difficult as before. What you want to do is hit him as much as you can, and if Jubei gets hit, heal him if you have the items. Use the BLADE because it is a very quick weapon against him. When he runs into the bushes, just keep running back and forth to avoid getting rammed by it. When it stops, just slash it like hell. Try to absorb orbs as you go, and eventually Jubei will defeat this evil creature. If it is too hard, try to get Jubei's BLADE to Level 2 so he can have more powerful attacks. Zoop's Strategy: One of the easier ways to keep a leveled head in this area is to listen and watch. If the leafs fall, that means Ginghamphatts will run a zig- zag route towards or against you. Learn his patterns and you will know which direction he will come at. This battle is easiest with Mogoichi at your side ("Didcha miss me?" We sure did!), and be sure to hide in between the non-walking areas, so Ginghamphatts cannot get to you. Be ready to dodge his attacks, though, as they are VERY nasty if he connects. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Once GINGHAMPHATTS is defeated, you'll get NOBUNAGA'S REIGN. run back to the Save Point and use all your Souls to enhance your weapons and armor. Move forward to save the game. Continue moving through the forest past where you defeated GINGHAMPHATTS. MONSTER LAKE There is another Save Point. Kill these Serpent Creatures in the water. They aren't too hard. Run across the puddle through the door. SPIKE ROOM In this room, you should have a NOBUNAGA TROPHY. Insert it into the slot in the wall up ahead. Then take the path left of the lake. DIRTPATH Run forward passed all the monsters until you get to the blue spinning wheel. Equip the SWORD (second weapon in your weapons inventory). Then hack at the blue spinning wheel. Behind it is yet another NOBUNAGA TROPHY. This one is NOBUNAGA'S DIGNITY. Return to the MONSTER LAKE. MONSTER LAKE Run across the puddle through the door. SPIKE ROOM Run forward and pull the lever. Then you'll see three images of Nobunaga, that evil prick from the first Onimusha (and the start of the game). You'll notice those images are of the 3 NOBUNAGA TROPHIES you have. The order in which they go is COMPLETELY RANDOM, so best of luck completing it. If you miss several times, the spikes will try to crush you. Solving the puzzle will open up a stairway. Go back to the MONSTER LAKE and save your game; then go back here and descend down. ************************************************************************ PROCEEDING FURTHER ************************************************************************ UNDERGROUND TUNNEL Run forward and press TRIANGLE to defeat the big creature. Then go through the door. UNDERGROUND TUNNEL 2 Proceed forward. Then kill every monster including that green tentacle thing. Slash with the BLADE. Once they're all dead, upgrade your BLADE or any weapon or armor you want to upgrade, and then proceed forward. Save the game, too. Proceed through the door. UNDERGROUND ROOM Watch the cut-scene with that weird woman. Then you finally get to battle her. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ BOSS # 4: JUJUDORMAH DIFFICULTY: MEDIUM Now we get to battle her. Her umbrella serves as a defense mechanism so slash at her defenseless areas. She sends little orbs your way, which hurt Jubei. Keep attacking her. She can sometimes teleport but the room is fairly small so as long as Jubei keeps moving, it doesn't matter. Eventually, slashing and healing enough will kill that crazy woman. Jubei will get a lot of orbs and another one of those little BLUE SPHERES which Jubei is out to collect. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ UNDERGROUND TUNNEL 2 Upgrade your weapons and armor with all the orbs you might have collected. Then save the game. Then return to the UNDERGROUND ROOM. UNDERGROUND ROOM Run to the little red button glowing on the wall and press it to reveal another tunnel. Go through. UNDERGROUND TUNNEL 3 In the chest is a GREEN HERB. All of a sudden, the room spews with gas. Run out of there as fast as you can. Then when you reach the outside, watch a cut-scene and Jubei ends up in a CAVERN. CAVERN Run forward to the chest to grab another scroll. Then examine that yellow thing in the room. Save your game as well. When examining the yellow thing, just say YES. Then watch the cut-scene to end up on a beach. BEACH Another cut-scene will reveal that swordsman from before, GOGANDANTESS. You'll have to battle him again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ BOSS # 5: GOGANDANTESS DIFFICULTY: HARD This thing will avoid your attacks fairly easily. Also, normal attacks won't work. This is an extremely difficult boss. Just try to fight the monster off until that woman shows up. The battle is over... (Boss battle is basically the same as before) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Watch the cut-scene that follows. Watch Oyu's cut-scene with Takajo, Jubei's fated mother. ************************************************************************ CONTROLLING OYU ************************************************************************ TEMPLE ROOM Save the game in the left corner and to the right of the MAGIC MIRROR is a pathway leading down. Head down the pathway and up the stairs. BIG SHRINE ROOM Run forward and kill those troll creatures that attack Oyu. Her sword's amazingly powerful. In the chest is some weird KEY PLATE. Return to the TEMPLE ROOM. TEMPLE ROOM Run to the shrine and use the KEY GATE to unlock the doors nearby. Save the game again and go through the door to the left. TEMPLE ROOM 2 In this room is a JOURNAL to the right. Kill all the CROCODILE SOLDIERS here and proceed down. Grab the sparkling item. I call it the PURPLE ITEM. Return to the TEMPLE ROOM. TEMPLE ROOM Head to the other door. TEMPLE ROOM 3 Run through this tunnel, avoiding or killing any enemies. TEMPLE ROOM 4 Kill all the enemies in here. Grab the SCROLL from the shelf. Then check the chest for a MAP. Circle around the room for a MEDICINE. Then go through the door. TEMPLE ROOM 5 Press TRIANGLE and kill everyone in the room. Then go through the door. TEMPLE ROOM 6 In this room, kill all the fish creatures to gain access to the ladder leading up. AQUARIUM ROOM Kill all the creatures in here including the WALL CREATURE. When they are all dead, check the chest for an ADARGA. Then go through the bright area by inspecting it. FOG BRIDGE Run down until the next room loads. FOG BRIDGE 2 Run forward. Kill every monster here and then run forward. FOG BRIDGE 3 Kill that big creature and move forward. FOG BRIDGE 4 Ignore the enemies and move forward. FOG BRIDGE 5 There's a MAGIC MIRROR and a chest. Save if you like. The chest has a NEW SWORD inside, so take it an equip it. Then move forward. BOTTOM OF FOG BRIDGE Kill all the monsters in here with your Special attacks and get the SACRED FLUTE. Then go back through the FOG BRIDGE. Return to the AQUARIUM ROOM. AQUARIUM ROOM Return to the BEACH now. BEACH Talk to Jubei. Oyu will give the SACRED FLUTE to Jubei. If you got the necklace, Oyu will give all her souls to Jubei, which can help him upgrade by a lot!! ************************************************************************ BACK TO JUBEI ************************************************************************ TEMPLE ROOM Kill all the monsters here. You can kill those bow-and-arrow crocodiles by using the BOW AND ARROWS you got a long time ago. Put your hand in the "Prove Your Identity" slot to get your latest weapon, the EARTH HAMMER. Upgrade Jubei's WIND BLADE (it should be at level 3 by now if you've been following the walkthrough). Save the game as well. Now go to TEMPLE ROOM 2. FAN ROOM Run to the very end of the room, kill every enemy with the WIND BLADE and under the ceiling fan, press TRIANGLE to activate the ceiling fan. The lift nearby will start working. So ride it down. FACTORY ROOM Run forward under the moving carts. Run forward to the door at the end. FACTORY ROOM 2 Kill all these robots and then check the chest. ****************** PUZZLE CHEST AGAIN ****************** This was fairly easy. Press the LEFT TOP, TOP MIDDLE and BOTTOM RIGHT arrows to get a SHOTGUN! Near the chest is a ladder. Run across the walkway and down the next ladder, through the door. TORTURE ROOM Run forward and look at the puzzle drawer. ************* PUZZLE DRAWER ************* __ __ __ __ | |15|14| | |__|__|__|__| |12| 6| | 9| |__|__|__|__| | 8| |11| 5| |__|__|__|__| | | 3| 2| | |__|__|__|__| The numbers your presented with are 1, 4, 7, 10, 13 and 16. To get the next number, add 2 to them all. You must put the appropriate numbers you have in the appropriate space so that each diagonal and straight line going down and right equal 34. Figure it out like I did, or simply look at the chart ahead for the answer. __ __ __ __ | 1|15|14| 4| |__|__|__|__| |12| 6| 7| 9| |__|__|__|__| | 8|10|11| 5| |__|__|__|__| |13| 3| 2|16| |__|__|__|__| Once that's solved, you'll get a GOLDEN KEY. Return to the FACTORY ROOM. FACTORY ROOM Climb up the ladder nearby. Use the GOLDEN KEY to stop the machinery (good riddance). Now we need to head back down to the AQUARIUM ROOM. (EDITOR'S NOTE: From here on out, David McCutcheon will take on the WALKTHROUGH) AQUARIUM ROOM Upon entering, destroy the enemies in the area and kill the WALL CREATURE. Afterwards, equip the EARTH HAMMER and smash the JEWEL in the back of the room. Another WALL CREATURE awaits. Destroy it, then grab the CIRCLE KEY and climb the ladder. TEMPLE ROOM 4 We're back here, magically. Don'tcha love hidden ladders? Now return to the FACTORY ROOM. FACTORY ROOM Ignore the demons and climb the ladder. Jump across the platforms and use the CIRCLE KEY in the door. Go inside. LOCK PUZZLE ROOM Grab Tokichiro's Memo #1. Investigate the statue, and a puzzle will ensue. Don't worry, as this is the easiest puzzle of them all. Move them in the order I present: 2nd, 3rd, 3rd, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 3rd, 3rd, 2nd, 2nd. After completing the puzzle, a portal will open. Go inside of it. GIFU TOWER - TOP Atop of Gifu Tower. Hmph. Why are these portals taking us everywhere!? Regardless, go down the ladder. WINDING TOWER What's this? A Puzzle Box. I have icons provided to show which arrows are where. The numbers atop/below/on the side of them tell you which to move IN ORDER. 5 1 * * 4 * * 6 * * 2 * * 3 Upon opening the puzzle box, you will get a TALISMAN. This will keep you alive if you die. Go down the stairs and watch out for the ARROW SHOOTERS. Get the GREEN WEDGE at the bottom in the chest, then Enhance and Save at the MAGIC MIRROR. Exit via the front door. WATER WALKWAY Go to your right and break the JEWEL with the LIGHTNING SWORD. Enter the door. PHANTHOM REALM AREA Grab the ARTWORK #11 on the end table, and TOKICHIRO'S DIARY on the floor. If you want (this is optional), you can enter the PHANTHOM REALM by standing over the GREEN FORCEFIELD and using the GREEN WEDGE. It's not as hard as the DARK REALM from ONIMUSHA: WARLORDS, but it's not that simple, either. If you decide to, make it to the final floor and collect the PERFECT MEDICINE and the PURPLE NECKLACE from the chests. Now exit the room. WATER WALKWAY Zoom over to the door opposite of where you are. UNIQUE HALL Grab the GIFU EAST AREA MAP from the chest and go through the next door. OUTER WALKWAY You'll more than likely get a helping hand out here in these areas, as the enemies are swarming. Follow the straight path and get the Cherry Key from the chest. Go through the door. GIFU ENTRANCE We're back here. We just keep revisiting areas, don't we? Go into GIFU PALACE PALACE Run straight ahead, avoiding all enemies. GUARDIAN ROOM Go to the locked door. Unlock it with the Cherry Key and go inside. GOODIE ROOM Inside of the GOODIE ROOM, you will find lots of goodies! Start out with the CRESCENT KEY, then grab the HUMAN AS FOOD file and ARTWORK #12, then, to finish the room off, unlock the PUZZLE BOX and grab the MAGIC JEWEL out of it. Here's the combination: 2 * * 3 * * * * 1 * * Now, backtrack to the OUTER WALKWAY! OUTER WALKWAY Destroy any enemies along the way to the locked door in the area. Unlock it with the CRESCENT KEY, then enter. OUTER WALKWAY 2 Hit the JEWEL with the ICE LANCE. Once it cracks, go through the door. WORSHIP ROOM Grab the GOURD out of the chest, and go to the back of the room. See the portal? Go into it. STONE CAVE MAIN Grab the MEDICINE from the chest and go through the exit closest to the way you came in. CLOSER HALL If you're friends with MAGOICHI, you will watch a cut-scene featuring TOKICHIRO. Regardless if you're playing at JUBEI or MAGOICHI, you will have to go the same way and do the same thing for both of them, pretty much. Follow the path. CLOSER HALL 2 Kill the enemies and carry on. CLOSER HALL 3 Read the above. Get it? Got it? Good. HIGH BRIDGE AREA Destroy the WALL CREATURE to your left and lower the bridge. Cross the bridge and carry on. STONE CAVE MAGIC MIRROR HALL Collect TOKICHIRO'S MEMO #2, as well as the MAP, now Save your progress. Continue forward. CLOSER HALL 4 Defeat any and all huge enemies and carry on. FIRE MACHINERY ROOM You will have quite the trouble brewing in this room, with those nast TOADS, and a MEGA TOAD. Take'em out with a few Specials on different weapons, or if you're MAGOICHI, shoot them from afar. CLOSER HALL 5 Annoying ARROW SHOOTERS reside here. Kill them with the WIND BLADE. Keep going. GREAT POWDER TUBE HALL If you're MAGOICHI, crack open the SPECIAL CHARACTER CHEST. If not, ignore it. Grab the GREAT POWDER TUBE. If you're Magoichi, take it back to Jubei. A demon will take it away, but just kill him. If he disappears with it, exit the room and re-enter. He'll be there. If you're just Jubei, go and break the JEWEL with the WIND BLADE and go through. BONE BRIDGE ROOM An HERB and a PUZZLE BOX lie within this room. Here's the combination: 5 * * * * 2 * * 4 * * 1 3 This will give you a POWER JEWEL. Use it. Now carry on and use the GREAT POWDER TUBE on the Stoned man. He'll give you a SECRET MEDICINE. STONE CAVE MAIN We end up back here. Go in the room that it started out in and thaw the unlucky stoned fellows and one of them will give you an item. Now you can Save and teleport back up. OUTER WALKWAY 2 Head out the door and go left, then straight up to the next door. Go through. GIFU LAKE Go straight ahead without stopping. RED SOUL SOIREE AREA Funny name, eh? Defeat any enemies in the area and suck the souls away from the temple. Go through the next door. STONE PATH Follow the path that leads up to a stone object. Break it open by attacking it a few times. Grab the MEDICINE and go through the door to reach the WATERFALL. WATERFALL There's a SPECIAL CHARACTER CHEST hidden away in the waterfall. Watch out for the enemies, and carry on. LODGE 2F A safe house. Yay. Collect the HUNTING SCHEDULE document in the corner. Enhance at the MAGIC MIRROR and Save. LODGE 1F Get on the boat and drift away like Dobie Gray. DOCKING PAGODA Once you're out of the boat, destroy the demons and get rid of the WALL CREATURE. Go through the door. INSIDE GUEST PAGODA A couple of nasty log-swinging TOADS reside inside the guest house. I wonder if they were having tea? Send them back to Hell and collect the ARTWORK #13, FORTINBRAS BOOK, and the GOLDEN EVIL STATUE BOOK. Exit this room via the next door. BACKROOM Use the GREAT POWDER TUBE on the two hopeless souls to bring them back to life. Go through the door behind them. ALTER PUZZLE ROOM Another one of those easy steel puzzles again. Move them in THIS ORDER: 3rd, 4th, 4th, 5th, 5th, 6th, 6th, 4th, 2nd, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 4th, 3rd, 1st, 1st, 3rd, 3rd, 4th, 4th. Now enter the portal. BLOOD POND Go up the hill and collect the SPECIAL MAGIC LIQUID from the chest. Go through the doors. SKULL 'N' BONES ROOM Run through, killing the enemies along the way, and go through the door. SACRED MAGIC MIRROR ROOM Grab the MAP out of the chest. Enhance your weapons and Save your progress. Then go through the door with the Demon Skull on it. CIRCULAR ROOM In this big, circular room, there are lots of nasty enemies. Kill them with the LIGHTNING SWORD, if you wish, then continue on through. MAZE ROOM Inside the MAZE ROOM, there will be three paths. First, go to your right, into that hole in the wall. Follow this path and you will reach a PUZZLE BOX containing a MAGIC JEWEL. Here's the solution: 3 * * * * * 1 * * 4 * * 2 * * * After this, use the MAGIC JEWEL, then kill the TOAD behind you. Backtrack and follow the path until you reach a fork in the road. Go left, and grab the HERB. Then kill the TOAD behind you. Now go right at the fork in the road to reach a fan. Get out the WIND BLADE and hit TRIANGLE under the fan. Get on the lift. RUBBLE ROOM Grab the SCARLET KEY and the ARTWORK #14, which is hidden in the rubble. Unlock the door and exit. TEMPLE PAINTING ROOM Yup, here again. Exit this room and enter the TEMPLE MAIN TEMPLE MAIN Go Save and Enhance, then go through the door. FAN ROOM Get on the lift and go down. FACTORY ROOM Ignore all enemies and dart across to the other door. FACTORY ROOM 2 Ignore the ARROW SHOOTERS and dart up the ladder, and across the upper platform. Climb down the other ladder and through the door you go. TORTURE ROOM Use the SCARLET KEY on the door in the back. Go through it. AQUARIUM HALL Go down the hall and watch an insightful movie sequence. EXPLOSIVE ROOM Save and Enhance your weapons further (important), then go down and grab the GOGANDANTESS SHIELD file and the SECRET MEDICINE in the chests. COLLAPSING ROOM Get prepared for an easy boss battle. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ BOSS # 6: GOGANDANTESS DIFFICULTY: EASY After the honorable movie sequence, as well as around eight thousand of Gogandantess' catchphrases, the battle starts. Go to the menu right away and find the SACRED FLUTE on the items list. Use it. If you read the GOGANDANTESS SHIELD document, you know that this will break Dantess' shield, which makes him guard you constantly. NOW the fun can begin! Take out your WIND BLADE, first and foremost. Get near Gogandantess and use your Special Attack by pressing TRIANGLE. This will send a Tornado in the area you're in to destroy Gogandantess. Dantess is VERY weak against this attack, and it hits him a lot, so keep it in mind. If you run low on magic, just bust out a different weapon and use your Special Attack with it. Keep in mind that Gogandantess is EXTREMELY agile in this battle, so using the EARTH HAMMER and ICE LANCE's Special Attacks are a complete gamble. The LIGHTNING SWORD, however, works fairly decent. This should easily be enough to take him down. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ After the battle, you will have to tell Gogandantess who he is. He's quite impressed with your skills, and leaves you with the RESPECT ORB. Four down, one to go. Go through the green door. FIRE PIPE ROOM This is a little maze of pipes, in which you can get special items. Climb the ladder and walk across the pipe to the very end, then cross it. Climb back up and you will reach an HERB. Go back across the area and go to the closest pipe to the ladder and walk back towards the entrance this way. Strike the pipes and back away, as they will explode. Open to the chest to get a MEDICINE. Turn a 180 and go across to the PUZZLE BOX. Inside is a POWER JEWEL. Here's the combination: 3 5 * * * 4 * * * * * * 1 * * * 2 With that solved, you can now cross the platforms to reach the next area. Climb the ladder and go through the door. BIG SHRINE ROOM Put the RESPECT ORB in the BIG SHRINE. Watch the cut-scene. AIRSHIP ROOM Save your progress and investigate the ship. Watch the movie sequence, then you will be thrown into a "test," of sorts. You must turn both L3 and R3 in opposite directions at the same time to lift the gate without it getting jammed. Watch the movie sequence afterwards... We're getting close to the end, but you could probably tell with all of these movie sequences. AIRSHIP ENGINE ROOM A MAGIC MIRROR rests in this room, so you can Save, if you really want to. Grab the MAGIC LIQUID at the end of the room, which you will want to save for the last boss, and solve the PUZZLE BOX for a MAGIC JEWEL. Here's that lovely solution to this brain-buster: 2 6 * * * * * 5 * * 3 * * 1 * * * 4 Now that's done, so let's go into the next room, shall we? PANTRY ROOM ARROW SHOOTERS and other demons await inside here. Take them out. Bust open a barrel and grab the hidden MEDICINE in the chest there. Now exit. CONVEYER BELT ROOM Dodge the ROBOTS on the conveyer belt and head straight up, then through the door. CONTROL ROOM Watch the cut-scene. Press the flashing RED BUTTON on the control panel. Watch the movie sequence. KEEP TOWER Look around the corner to find TOKICHIRO'S MEMO #3. Now Save at the MAGIC MIRROR, and enter the door. DARK HALL A few enemies are in here. Kill them and carry on. DARK STAIRS Kill the TOADS and grab the MEDICINE on the other side of the stairs. Now go up them. CASTLE BALCONY Ignore the enemies and go straight into the double doors in the middle. CENTER ROOM Kill the enemies and suck the RED SOULS from the shrine. Grab ARTWORK #15, then grab the PURPLE WEDGE. Now go up the ladder in the back of the room to meet a not-so-friendly Boss. ROOFTOP Uh oh. Houston... We've got trouble. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ BOSS # 7: BIG SOUL SUCKER DIFFICULTY: MEDIUM This boss battle is a big different than most. Remember Dark World's 2nd Dungeon boss from Zelda: A Link To The Past? It's kind of like that. The boss will send small versions of itself to hit you, and when it does, defeat them each with your LIGHTNING SWORD. This will take good timing and nice accuracy. Eventually, you will destroy every one of the little SOUL SUCKERS, which means that the mama wants to play! BIG SOUL SUCKER will come towards you, but at this point, it's not that tough of a battle, so don't worry too much. Just use your LIGHTNING SWORD's Special Attack a few times, and if you run out, get out the WIND BLADE and use its Special Attack. This will take care of it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Afterwards, collect the GOLD SCALE. Place the GOLD SCALE into the opening on to roof's gold statue. This will reveal the path to the gutter of the Demon World. Exciting, non? Now climb back down the ladder. CASTLE BALCONY Destroy the TOAD on the path to the Demon World. If you want the REKKA- KEN, however, you might want to go into the SHACK ROOM before you enter the Demon World. Use the PURPLE WEDGE to access the PURPLE PHANTHOM REALM. Only good players should do this, though. Good luck! Otherwise/After, enter the FISH TOWER. FISH TOWER Suck up the MAGIC SOULS and Enhance/Save your progress. I HIGHLY suggest you save here, by the way. Possibly the toughest boss battle in the game is next. Afterwards, climb the ladder. BRAIN TOWER ...Now you hear the voice of Ginghamphatts. When will he learn his lesson? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ BOSS # 8: GINGHAMPHATTS #3 DIFFICULTY: HARD This battle is going to be a very tiring battle that will last longer than any other thus far, and possibly longer than the last boss battle. You should be relatively close to your transformation, and you may even transform twice, or even three times during this battle. It's best to attack without stopping when you do go into the transformation. Use your Special Attacks on all weapons, starting out with the EARTH HAMMER. Once it is ran dry, switch over to the ICE LANCE. Why these two first? Because the LIGHTNING SWORD is a preferred "Finish The Job" weapon, and you will need the WIND BLADE for a future form of Ginghamphatts. Ginghamphatts' attacks are pretty simple: He will stomp on you every nice and then, and he will swing that huge blade of his, just like the previous battles. One form, though, is his deadliest. He will split into two forms: His Legs, and his Body. You will want to go after his Body section, which will float in the air, with the WIND BLADE's Special Attack. If you run too low on health, go ahead and drink some MEDICINE down. Be sure to save up at least 5 to 8 MEDICINES, or any variation of them, for the last boss, as he will be a tad bit tougher, and a LOT stronger, than GINGHAMPHATTS #3. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ After the battle, you gain the final orb: the STRENGTH ORB. Thank goodness we finally put an end to GINGHAMPHATTS. Absorb those SOULS and climb down the ladder. FISH TOWER Fill up your MAGIC METER with the MAGIC SOULS... You're gonna need all the magic you can get. ~ENHANCE~ and ~SAVE YOUR GAME~, as this is your FINAL CHANCE to. Go over to the Skeleton Elevator and put the STRENGTH ORB into the slot. Watch the movie sequence, and travel up... DEMON RULER SHRINE A kick-ass movie sequence ensues, and you're met by the final boss... LORD NOBUNAGA! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ BOSS # 9: LORD NOBUNAGA ODA DIFFICULTY: HARD At the very start of the battle, pause the screen. Catch your breath, make sure your health is close to full, and equip the EARTH HAMMER. Unpause and press TRIANGLE quickly. Use up all of your Special Attacks with the EARTH HAMMER, then quickly switch to the ICE LANCE. Once again, we use these two first due to a later form of battle. As soon as you get done with the first two weapons, equip the LIGHTNING SWORD. This is our usual "Finish Him Off" weapon, but not tonight. We'll save the WIND BLADE for that. Hit Lord Nobunaga with the LIGHTNING SWORD's Special Attack before he transforms into the version that flies, which, I must admit, is NOT a fun battle. When he starts flying, switch to the WIND BLADE. Use the Special Attack of the WIND BLADE while he is up above you. This will even lower him down towards you so you can get an extra hit or two. If you have regained enough magic on your other weapons, quickly equip one and use the Special Attack while he's grounded. Keep in mind to use up all of those MAGIC LIQUIDS and other MAGIC items to regain your MAGIC METER. The most common form of Lord Nobunaga will be flying, so make sure you fill up with the WIND BLADE, and attack him very steadily. Eventually, he will fall to his death. ...or not? No, Lord Nobunaga Oda is not dead... He's only beginning. You will get sucked into the bowels of the Demon Lord himself, which is not very pretty, but nonetheless... Jubei Yagyu will permanently transform into the ONI version of himself for the rest of the battle. Oh yes, it's time to kick some booty. When the battle starts off, be sure to keep hitting the SQUARE, which will fire missile-like objects at Lord Nobunaga's Armageddon-ish figure. This will hit different parts of Lord Nobunaga, weakening each part to the very last drop. Eventually, all of the parts will fall off, but it's not that easy... The controls for this portion of the battle are quite screwy, but don't worry, you will get the hang of things very quickly. Two of the common attacks are the Boulder Horns, which consists or sharp boulders coming up from the ground and hurting you (you can avoid these easily, as pink circles appear before the sharp rocks do), and his Fireball trick. He will shoot three Fireballs, but you can eliminate them by shooting them. The problems begin when he starts to walk towards you. If you get sucked up underneath him, it could easily kill you, so you must pay attention when to STOP attacking and run. To make matters worse, he will sometimes even have a Flamethrower that will damage you that goes from side to side, ala Onimusha: Warlords. You must NOT attack at anytime when Lord Nobunaga is walking towards you. He also has the generic Laser attack, which is nothing to fear, however, his last set of attacks include freaky Large Heads that come out and zoom towards you. While these aren't much to worry about, the Shrunken Heads attack is. A series of Shrunken Heads will surround you, and not allow you to hit Lord Nobunaga. On top of this, they will spit Poison Gas at you after they block your attack. After a while, this battle will end. The battle itself isn't hard, it's just when Lord Nobunaga does make contact, it stings. Badly. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Congratulations! You've beaten ONIMUSHA 2! Now go rock out to some of that J-Pop music from the demo! YEAW! ======================================================================== 4. STORY ======================================================================== 10 years ago... A lone warrior named Samanosuke, and his companion, Kaede, went to the village, to discover than Princess Yuki was kidnapped. Finding his way through caves, monsters, and traps, he managed to find Princess Yuki and a boy she took care of, and gets lost in a battle with an insane beast. No one knows what ever happened to Samanosuke... but at the end, he's seen, overlooking a castle, alive. Now, 10 years later... NOTE: This is judging from the scenes in the game. If anyone has a translated synopsis, please tell me! A village in feudal Japan starts the day off as usual, until an army attacks it. People are killed one by one. A woman, protecting her child, is stomped on. People try to aimlessly defend the village, but people are burned, skewered and murdered, gruesomely. A lone warrior, Yagyu Jubei, walks into the village, angry at what happened, and vows to get revenge. He hears a woman call his name, and follows the noise to a cave, where he is granted powers to absorb spirits, and save the village. ======================================================================== 5. ITEM LIST ======================================================================== This is a list of unique items you can only find once or twice in the game, NOT herbs. Remember that if it's found in the Village Store, it may be on one of the three trips, not just the first. Note that if you want to include a missing item from this list, please e-mail David McCutcheon at Zoopnova@aol.com. Be SURE to include the CORRECT ITEM NAME and the CORRECT LOCATION based on the room's name that THIS guide provides. If you do not include the CORRECT location, your mail will be DISGARDED. For easy access of where the items are, press and hold Control, then press F. Type out the room name and this will search the FAQ. Thank you and enjoy. ***************************************************** ITEM --------------------------------------- LOCATION ***************************************************** ABACUS MONSTER/BOSS LIST ======================================================================== SOLDIER Wielding a sword, these guys are a little hard to kill. Slash them up repeatedly and try to stab them when they're on the ground. They give moderate amounts of orbs. ALLIGATOR These are pretty dangerous, but not too dangerous as a whole. Quickly slash at them for more souls, and use the TRIANGLE BUTTON on them. There are a lot of them in areas. ARROW SHOOTERS These pesky suckers will attack from afar, and will more than likely do more damage to you than all of the regular enemies in the game. Why, you ask? Because it's hard to attack them when they hide way above towards the sky! Take'em out with the SHOTGUN, or the BOW. MASKED WOMAN They fight a lot like SOLDIERS, and are a little weaker in stamina, too. They like to flip away, though. Attack them with the LONG SPEAR for maximum results. SKELETON WARRIORS These guys are tough, but not too tough when you use Jubei's special attack through the TRIANGLE BUTTON. They inflict a lot of pain, but an aggressive special attack will kill them before they can realize what hit them. ROLLING MONSTERS Like the first Onimusha, their attacks when rolling are hard to avoid. Use the LONG SPEAR against them to stop them in their tracks, and then hit them fast and hard when they're vulnerable. SOUL ABSORBING MONSTERS They might be too high for Jubei to kill, but try using the LONG SPEAR. After they die, which is a fairly easy thing to do, they release the souls they stole from you. Capture the souls. SHEILDED WARRIOR These guys are great at blocking Jubei's attacks. So use Jubei's special attacks with the TRIANGLE BUTTON to kill them instantly. GIANT GENIE CREATURES These guys are big, but they can still get hurt easily. Hit them fast before they hit Jubei with those logs they wield. They give a considerable amount of orbs. YELLOW FLYING CREATURE These guys appear in the forest. They are easy to defeat. ROBOT You will find these Robot-like demon produces in the Factory areas. They reproduce demons like crazy, so keep in mind to attack them swiftly. If you don't get the battle over quickly, you will have more than a handful to deal with. WALL CREATURES These Wall Creatures can take a heavy beating and still beat you up. You'll need a whole lot of bad-assness in your system to tackle these monsters with little to no damage received. A Special attack with the ol' Lightning Sword will take them down quite a bit. ======================================================================== 7. FILE LIST ======================================================================== COMING SOON! ======================================================================== 8. MISC. ======================================================================== A. ONIMUSHA GAMES ----------------- ONIMUSHA 2: SAMURAI'S DESTINY RELEASE DATE: March 2002 (Japan); August 2002 (USA) PLATFORM: Sony PlayStation 2 One of the best looking PlayStation 2 games, Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, has been the best selling PS2 game in 2002. Featuring character Jubei Yagyu (or Yagyu Jubei, my interpretation of the Japanese speech is weak), you sword sling through the game once again. ONIMUSHA: WARLORDS RELEASE DATE: Spring 2001 PLATFORM: Sony PlayStation 2 Onimusha: Warlords is an action game in feudal Japan. Featuring Samanosuke, he had to rescue Princess Yuki. The game was extremely successful; it was the first PS2 game to sell 1 Million in Japan and the US. Though the graphics seemed a little dated compared to Resident Evil CODE: Veronica X (released for the PS2 and Dreamcast around the same time in Japan), it was because the game was meant to be on both PlayStation and N64. Since then, it has spawned re-releases under the "Mega Hits" label in Japan, the "Greatest Hits" label in the US and the "Platinum" label in Europe. GENMA ONIMUSHA RELEASE DATE: Early 2002 PLATFORM: Microsoft XBOX Microsoft decided to enter the console wars in early 2001. Their ultra- powerful XBOX can do graphical effects the PlayStation 2 can't do. Capcom, being the company they are, usually takes advantage of their more successful games- by porting them to another console. And with the XBOX's awesome power, they did just that. Making the game much more difficult and adding new graphical effects, bosses, etc., Capcom re- released the game for XBOX. It is basically the hardest version yet. If Genma Onimusha were translated, it would mean Extremely Difficult Demon Slaying (correct me if I'm wrong; my Japanese is weak). It says it all- this is ultimately a harder version of the PS2 Onimusha: Warlords. ======================================================================== 9. CONCLUSION ======================================================================== Note that since I, ZoopSoul (David McCutcheon, or ZoopNOVA on IGN), have taken over, the game has been translated in most matters to the English version of the game. This includes the names of Characters, Weapons, Items, Bosses, etc. So the Japanese translations are no longer needed. I must admit, working with CVXFREAK is a dream come true, and I didn't have to do much with the guide to perfect it. This is my first joint venture in FAQing, and I'm happy to say it has been fun. Thanks to everyone. - David "Zoop" McCutcheon ************ DISCLAIMERS: ************ FAQ SITES: If this FAQ appears on CheatCC.com or anywhere else except GameFAQS, NeoSeeker or PSXCodez, then please let me know immediately. I've been getting a load of Klez lately, and it's annoying me. Also, make sure the e-mail is in English, because I get German mail occasionally.
