Halo: Combat Evolved FAQ/Walkthrough For the PC (DOS/Windows) Written by peach freak or peachfreak90@hotmail.com Copyright 2005 Tim Brastow. All Rights Reserved. Version 2.25 Welcome! This FAQ is a Walkthrough for Halo: Combat Evolved, one of the best games out there, and it was ported to the PC as well. If you have any questions, comments, or if I make a mistake somewhere, email me at peachfreak90@hotmail.com or if you have AIM, you can IM me. My AIM screen name is sonicdoommario. You can, however, save this onto your computer in a location like My Documents for offline (if you have limited internet access) and LEGAL use. That said, let's move onto the rest of the guide. Here are the minimum requirements for this game: Processor: 733 MHZ Free/Uncompressed Hard Drive Space: 1.2 GB Memory/RAM: 128MB of RAM Windows Operating System: Windows 98SE/2000/ME/XP Video Card: 32MB/3D Compatible (Direct X/Direct3D/OpenGL) Other stuff: 8x CD-ROM drive, sound card, speakers/headphones Now, onto the table of contents: 1. Update History 2. Controls 3. Enemies 4. Weapons 5. Vehicles 6. Characters 7. Options 8. Walkthrough 9. Multiplayer 10. PC/Xbox Changes 11. Overshield/Active Camouflage Locations 12. Credits ================== 1. Update History ================== Version 1.00, December 18, 2005: Here it is. This is the first version of this FAQ. The walkthrough is completed and every other section is, except for Multiplayer, which should be completed next update. Version 1.25, December 21, 2005: Did some major updates to this FAQ. First off, I changed some of the descriptions for the enemies in the enemies section, thanks to Ivanov Moreno, a person who emailed me. I also added the Multiplayer Controls in the controls section, as I completely forgot all about them. And lastly, I started working on my Multiplayer section. I got the maps done, the game types done, and I'll work on the last parts of this section next update. Version 1.50, December 23, 2005: Finally finished my Multiplayer section. That took a lot longer than I thought it would be. I may add more to that section in the future. Version 1.60, December 26, 2005: Did some more fixing to this guide. In the controls section, I moved the Multiplayer controls to the keyboard section, as I had them in the mouse section by accident. I also fixed some spelling/grammar mistakes, and I added the Rocket Warthog/Flamethrower/Fuel Rod Gun to the weapon/vehicle sections respectively. The next part I did was add another change to the PC/Xbox changes section, and in my Multiplayer, I added a "Multiplayer Tips" part at the end of the section. Right know I only have tips for using the weapons, but more is still to come. I also added Travis Combs to the credits section. Version 1.75, December 29, 2005: Fixed up my Pillar of Autumn walkthrough. At the beginning of the walkthrough, I mentioned that you could skip the first part of the level if you were on Legendary (as it is completely skipped on Legendary during the game). I also finished my Multiplayer Tips section, and now the whole section is finally finished. Version 2.00, January 13, 2006: Well, there goes another bad Friday the 13th for me into the books. But for this update, I added a whole new section, showing the locations for the Over Shields and Active Camouflages throughout the game. Version 2.25, August 22, 2006: Added in the secrets section for this guide which I promised a way while back. Also, I added in missing Active Camouflages and over shields, thank to filaria, a user on GameFAQs. The last thing I did was fix up Foehammer's description in my character's section. ============ 2. Controls ============ Here are the controls to use while playing this game. They may take a while to get used to, but if you don't like them, you can customize them (if you don't know how to do it, it will be in my options section): <><><><><> Keyboard <><><><><> Escape: View Menu ------------------ Movement Controls ------------------ W: Walk Forward S: Walk Backward A: Strafe Left D: Strafe Right ---------------- Combat Controls ---------------- G: Switch between Fragmentation/Plasma Grenades Tab: Switch Enemy R: Reload Weapon F: Melee Attack X: Exchange Weapon ---------------- Action Controls ---------------- Spacebar: Jump Left CTRL: Crouch Q: Flashlight on/off Z: Zoom in with weapon (works with a Pistol, Rocket Launcher, and Sniper Rifle) E: Action (getting in/out of vehicle, swapping weapon, activating switch, etc) --------------------- Multiplayer Controls --------------------- F1: Show current Multiplayer score H: Vehicle Chat Y: Team Chat T: Everyone Chat <><><> Mouse <><><> --------------- Mouse Controls --------------- Left Mouse Button: Fire Weapon Right Mouse Button: Throw Grenades/fire vehicle's alternate weapon (only for a Ghost/Scorpion) =========== 3. Enemies =========== There are two types of enemies in this game, the Covenant and the Flood. I will describe both of them below. ----------------- Covenant Enemies ----------------- Grunts: The weakest enemy out of all the Covenant. They have different "uniforms" showing how tough they are. An Orange Grunt is the most cowardly and rarely fights on easy difficulties, a Red Grunt is less cowardly and fights more often, and a silver grunt is pretty much not afraid of you. Mostly these enemies are scattered in groups. The weapons Grunts will have are Plasma Pistols (which they never charge up), Needlers (which they only fire in pieces, so it shouldn't be much of a threat), and the silver Grunts may have a Needler or a Fuel Rod Gun, which is a very dangerous weapon. The best weapons to take these out with are Pistols and an Assault Rifle, as they will go down in a matter of shots. Jackals: A more annoying enemy you will find commonly in the early level, but you won't see them at all in Keyes and the Maw. They are kind of a "scouting" enemy for the Covenant, as they carry around a shield to protect them. Their weapon of use is only the Plasma Pistol, but they are very skilled and good at using it. They can charge it up to full blast, which can knock out your shields for a few seconds if it. The easiest way to get rid of these enemies are to melee attack them and it will hurt/kill them. You can also use a Plasma Pistol to melt their shield away and they can easily be killed before their shield recovers. Elites: Now here are the big boys for the Covenant, and taking them down are not pretty. Just like you, they have shields, and you'll need to get rid of them to kill them first. If you hit them and white lines surround their bodies, it means their shields are still up. But when hit, they will retreat for protection and then go out and attack you, so it could take a while. Elites carry either a Plasma Rifle or a Needler, and on Heroic and Legendary, either weapon can take you down in a matter of seconds when you're not careful. They will fire the Needler in bursts, so it'll be enough needles to blow you up. They fire their Plasma Rifles very fast before recharging, and it will knock out your shields and almost go down to minimum health. The best weapons to get rid of these skilled Covenant troops is pretty much any Covenant weapon. If you use a Plasma Pistol or a Plasma Rifle, their shields will be gone easily, and then you can melee attack them or shoot them to finish them off. A Shotgun or a Sniper Rifle does the job too. Better yet, if an Elite as their back to you, you can melee attack their back and kill them in 1 hit. There are 4 types of Elites: A blue elite, purple, silver, and gold. Blue Elites are your basic ones, and they have little shields to deal with. A purple Elite is more skilled and has slightly more armor, while a gold Elite has a ton of armor and can take you down easily. Silver Elites are the most skilled. They can throw a Plasma Grenade submarine style (like Mike Myers in Major League Baseball) and it can stick onto you pretty accurately. There are also Elites who are cloaked, which me and my friend call "InvisiElites". Even though they were invisible, they have no shields, so you can take them down easily once you find them. Watch out, gold Elites and cloaked ones may have swords in their hands, and 1 swipe of these swords can kill you. Try to keep at a safe distance when encountered. Hunters: The biggest Covenant enemy out of all of them. Although they do not fight like Elites do, they have a lot of power on them and you need to kill them the right way. Most Hunters are found in groups of two. To kill Hunters the best way, you'll notice an orange spot in the middle of their body. If you take a Pistol and shoot there, it will die in 1 hit. If you have other weapons, you'll need to get behind one and keep shooting its orange spot until it dies. But to get behind him, you'll need to take course 1, which is dodging him. If you are close up to him, he'll swipe at you and then melee you with his Fuel Rod Gun. Dodge this by backing up when he swipes at you, and then when he tries to melee you, run around him from either side, and then keep shooting. You can also jump as well. But if you are far away from one, he'll fire his Fuel Rod Gun at you, and THESE HURT. They can knock out your shields and put you at near minimal health. Duck behind something or jump over it when fired at you. ---------- The Flood ---------- Sometime during the middle of the game, you'll release a new enemy called the Flood. Most forms of the Flood are rumored to be dead marines from the past. The Flood comes in all different shapes and sizes. Since the Covenant fear these enemies, you can sit back with a bag of Popcorn watching Flood vs. Covenant matches fighting each other. Sometimes either side will win in a big blowout, or they may have a fight to a death with 1 man standing. Be warned, however, that you may get the hell scared out of you the level you meet the Flood. On with them: Infection Form: Found a lot in 343 Guilty Spark. These are little blobs that run around on the floor in HUGE groups. They can bite onto you and suck up your shields and health, but they are extremely weak. Just take an Assault Rifle and spray all of them with one clip. DO NOT TAKE A PLASMA GRENADE AND STICK ONE ONTO THEM. You have been warned. If you stick one onto them, they'll just run up to you and the grenade will explode right in your face. Other ways of getting with of them are simple melee attacks or a Shotgun at best. When one explodes, it can set off a reaction, causing several more to blow up, so use this as an advantage. Instead of using a Shotgun, Covenant weapons (except for a Needler, which you should stay away from) work great against these. One shot from a Plasma Pistol/Rifle will make them explode, causing a reaction of other explosions. Combat Form: Since many people call the flood Dead Marines, this is what I'll put. Most of these will have claws, and if you're short of ammo, they can just come up to them and swipe you while you reload. Other of these dead marines will be equipped with a weapon, which can be any weapon in this game, except for a Fuel Rod gun or a Sniper Rifle. So if you see one with a Shotgun, kill it and pick it up. They may have a few grenades on them as well. Again, the Assault Rifle and Shotgun are the best to take any flood form out. Carrier Form: The most annoying enemy in this whole game. They walk on two legs and their face is nothing but a fat stomach. If they get near you, they'll drop down to the ground and explode. This can most likely kill you and it gets really annoying. The best way to get rid of this is to have a different explosion kill you or take a Shotgun and shoot them FAR away, because once you do, they'll explode without them touching you. Once they explode, they'll release a few Infection Forms, but it's only about 4 or 5. -------------- Other Enemies -------------- Sentinals: These are actually 343 Guilty Spark's personal guards called Sentinals. When you are in the Library, they are your friends as they will help you take out the Flood with their lasers. But after that, you and the monitor will hate each other, causing the Sentinals to be your enemies. They will attack you with their lasers, and if they attack in a group, they can burn down your shields and health pretty quickly, but 1 or 2 shouldn't be a problem. The best way to get rid of these enemies are to use a charged up Plasma Pistol shot, as it will destroy it in one hint. Another useful was is to put a Plasma Grenade in their path, as they are pretty sensitive to close up explosions. If you get one stuck onto them, it can destroy the rest of the group if they are close as well. =========== 4. Weapons =========== This is the weapon list for both the UNSC marines and the Covenant. I will describe each weapon, as well as its advantages and disadvantages. Remember that you can only have up to two weapons at any time during the game. ------------- UNSC Weapons ------------- Assault Rifle: You will start out with this weapon in every level except the Pillar of Autumn and Two Betrayals. Being one of your early weapons, it is a pretty solid weapon for combat. It can hold 60 bullets a clip, and you can have up to 10 reloads max (600 bullets). You will find that nearly ALL of your marines will be using this weapon, but they fire in 3 round bursts, making it less effective and less helpful for you. It can be found near dead marines at the beginning of the game, or you can find the Flood carrying this weapon in the later level. Advantages of this weapon are that it can take out any form of the flood easily. When the flood is first released, use this weapon to take out the corn blobs, it'll be really helpful. It can also take out a group of guns with about 1 climb. But some of this weapon's disadvantages are that it's not great for silver and gold Elites, as it'll take forever to knock out their shields with this weapon. Pistol: One of my favorite weapons in this game, both for single player and multiplayer. It will be one of your default weapons early on in the game, but it will be less common late in the game. The Pistol can hold 12 bullets a clip, and you can have up to 10 reloads (120 bullets). It also has a zoom in scope which makes this gun EXCELLENT. This weapon has its advantages for taking out any sort of enemy at long distance, including Elites, as it'll drain their shields in about 5 or 6 shots. It's good for taking out enemies solo, but it's not a good weapon for attacking enemies at short distances or taking out stronger enemies in larger groups. But in multiplayer 1 vs. 1 or whatever you're doing, this will be a big help in taking out your enemy. Sniper Rifle: An extremely useful weapon that you won't be able to use very often. You'll start out with this weapon on the Truth and Reconciliation, where you'll highly need it. It is great for sniping out enemies in both single player and multiplayer, and it can zoom in to 2X and 8X (it could be 10 in the Xbox version). It can hold 4 shots before reloading (don't know its maximum ammo), and it's a powerful weapon as well. Its advantages are being able to take down an Elite in 2 hits and any other enemy in 1 shot, and it's a good weapon for fighting enemies far away. It also has night vision, so if you can't see very well, just hit your flashlight button to turn it on, but only when zoomed in. Some of the disadvantages for this weapon are that it's a bad weapon for fighting up close, it can be inaccurate up close, and using this CANNOT kill the flood, so don't try it out. Shotgun: This is pretty much the best weapon in the game. It is found a lot in the later levels, especially with the Flood. If you kill a Flood creature and they have this weapon, pick it up now. It can hold 12 shells a clip and can hold 5 reloads at maximum (60 shells). When reloading, you can fire while reloading, as it reloads 1 shell at a time. It can knock out any enemy except an Elite or a Hunter in one hit. When taking out an Elite, it usually takes up to 5 shots at best to knock one out. Advantages of this weapon are that like said, it can take out any enemy quickly, and it's a great gun for fighting enemies at close range. You can also fire while reloading, so when you are being attacked, you can still attack back. Some of its few disadvantages are if you overuse this weapon on pointless stuff, you may run out of ammo quickly, and it's a bad weapon for attacking at faraway distances, as the gunshots are more widespread. Rocket Launcher: A decent weapon later on in the game, and it's a great weapon if you know how to use it correctly. It can hold 2 rockets at once, with having up to 4 reloads (8 rockets). Sometimes you may see the Flood with this weapon, SO WATCH OUT. It is an essential weapon to beating the final weapon, although you could use grenades as well. The best way to take out a large group of enemies with this weapon is to shoot at the floor and knock everyone off their feet. It also has a zoom in scope too. Watch out, this gun can hurt you as well. Advantages of this weapon is that it can take out any group of enemies in 1 hit, and it is an excellent weapon for destroying the fusion reactors in the final level. Its disadvantages is that it's very slow at reloading, and if you try to attack up close, you could kill yourself. It's also not a great weapon for attacking just 1 enemy. Flamethrower: A new weapon added to the PC version of this game, but it a multiplayer-only weapon. If you know how to use this weapon correctly, it can be a pretty deadly weapon. Being a flamethrower, you'll need to attack your enemies at a closer range. Doing this, you can drain their shields AND health in a matter of seconds. It starts out with 400 bullets and you'll need to reload it as well. But if you see an enemy trying to attack you with this weapon, just stay at a far range from them and the flamethrower shouldn't bother you. ----------------- Covenant Weapons ----------------- Just like you, the Covenant have their own types of weapons. I'd personally prefer the UNSC weapons over Covenant weapons. The advantage that Covenant weapons have over UNSC weapons are that since you will be fighting the Covenant the whole game (except for one level), Plasma Pistols, Rifles, and Needlers will be all over the place. If you are using a Plasma Pistol/Rifle and your battery becomes depleted, then you can always swap out for a weapon with a higher battery. If you have a Plasma Pistol with a battery of 67 and you find one with 68 or high, you can swap out for it. But you can't swap out for a weapon with lower batteries. This is great for fighting the Covenant, especially when playing on harder difficulties. Plasma Pistol: A lot of people consider this the worst weapon in the game, but it is an ok weapon. It can fire faster than a Plasma Rifle, but if you fire consistently without stopping, the battery gets overheated and it must cool down. Its battery can go up to 100, and it's a good weapon for taking out Elites. If you hold down your fire button, a huge plasma ball will appear. When you fire, it will be like a homing missile. This can knock out a Sentinal in one hit as well. When you charge it, it uses up about 11 shots, so just conserve your shots here and there. Advantages of this weapon are that it is awesome at killing Elites. Charge it up and fire at them to get rid of their shields, and then keep firing until they die. The charging is also great for Sentinals. The bad part about this weapon is that it's not great for taking out the Flood or other large group of enemies. Plasma Rifle: This weapon and the Shotgun is my favorite combination in the whole game. It fires slightly slower than the Plasma Pistol, but it's a powerful weapon. Its battery can go up to 100 and if you fire consistently without stopping, the battery gets overheated and it needs to be cooled down before firing again. Good things about this weapon are that it can take out any Covenant enemy quickly, including Elites. This can get rid of their shields quickly and then you could kill them afterwards. This weapon is also good for getting rid of a Jackal's shield, which you could just kill them afterward without being annoyed. One of its only disadvantages are that it's not too effective than a UNSC weapon against the Flood. Needler: A Needler can be your best friend or it can be instant hell if you don't use it right. You will find Grunts and Elites firing these weapons at you. It can hold 20 needles a clip and can have up to 4 reloads stored (80 needles). If you fire all 20 (or near 20) at an enemy, the needles will cause a huge explosion on the enemy, causing other nearby enemies to get killed. If playing levels on Legendary, you can use this to take out Elites and watch them explode. It can be a living hell if you fire this weapon and it explodes too close to you. So its advantages are that it's like a free grenade that can take out any enemy easily, but its bad part is that it can affect you as well. Just make the best use out of these. It also works for the Flood too. Fuel Rod Gun: These are the weapons the more advanced Grunts carry later in the game. Hunters also have a powered up version of this weapon. Even though you can't use this in single player, this is a new weapon in multiplayer. Either way, it can be a very deadly weapon. In one hit, it can knock out your shields and put your health near minimum. The best way to dodge this weapon is to duck, jump, or hide behind something. But if you know how to use it right, it can be a nice weapon in multiplayer. In Multiplayer, it has a maximum battery of 100. Each shot uses 4 rounds of the battery, and if you fire it too much, then the battery will overheat and you'll need to wait for it to cool down before recharging it again. --------- Grenades --------- There are two grenades in this game. The marines have their own type of grenades and the Covenant have their own type. They are listed below. Fragmentation Grenades: The better of the two grenades in my opinion. These are the UNSC grenades and you can have up to 4 grenades at maximum. If used right, this could be a little hero to you in both single player and multiplayer. If throwing this grenade at short distances, throw it at the ground. If throwing it to a longer distance, try throwing it in the air. Advantages of this grenade are that it can take out a huge group of enemies if thrown right, and it can damage/kill Elites. It is also great for taking out a large group of Flood enemies. Bad parts about this grenade is that it can bounce around the walls and you may not know where it lands, so be on the lookout. Plasma Grenades: These are fairly pointless, but they have their own uses. These are also the grenades the Covenant use. They are like big blue fire when thrown, so you'll easily know where they are. Just like the Fragmentation Grenades, you can hold up to 4. If you throw this grenade, it can stick onto enemies, which can be good or bad. If you stick it onto an Elite, it can kill it, but if you stick it onto a corn blob from the Flood, it can run up to you and explode in your face. So I don't recommend these grenades against the Flood, use them only on the Covenant. ============ 5. Vehicles ============ With weapons, enemies, and all of that stuff, there are vehicles, both UNSC and Covenant. I will describe each of them below. To control these vehicles, just use the same controls you would use to fire weapons, throw grenades, and move. These aren't too different. -------------- UNSC Vehicles -------------- Warthog: Just take my advice and don't mess this up with "Hogwart" or else someone may yell at you going "This isn't Harry Potter!" Now the Warthog is a nice little jeep. There is a driver seat, a passenger seat, and a gunner seat. If you're in the driver's seat, then you control where the Warthog goes (same controls for being on ground). The blue arrow is the direction the Warthog will go if you go straight. If you are in the passenger seat, you can use your weapons to kill enemies, but you can only turn left and right, making this a bad spot to be in. The gun turret in the back is sweet. It has unlimited ammo and can take out ANYTHING quickly, including Elites. So if you have an extra marine, get one in the gunner seat. They'll take out EVERYTHING. It can also get rid of enemies online during multiplayer. Bad part about the gunner is that the range is limited, so you'll have to be closer than normal. Scorpions: Scorpions are extremely heavy tanks. Being heavy, it is also a slow tank with only a little bit of speed on it. But the power it has is awesome. When you get in the driver's seat (which is in the middle of the tank), you can control 1 of 2 weapons. If you click the left mouse button, you'll file a missile than can kill anything easily, but it needs to be recharged before using it again. The right mouse button is a machine gun. It is a pretty good weapon, but not as good as the gun turret in a Warthog. You can have up to 4 passengers too, but to have passengers, someone has to be in the driver's seat, so this could make a good multiplayer ambush. But each seat has its own limit to where you can turn in terms of directions, so try to pick the seat that is good for you. Rocket Warthog: A new addition to the PC version of this game. But again it is a multiplayer-only vehicle. It works the same way as a regular Warthog, except that the gun turret in the back is replaced by a rocket launcher. Unlike the gun turret, you'll need to reload it every few shots (you could fire the gun turret as long as you want without stopping). It has its own advantages over the regular Warthog, such as it can destroy vehicles easier, but it is pretty inaccurate most of the time. The passenger seat is obviously still there. If you can't pick out a Warthog from a Rocket Warthog, just remember the rocket Warthog is a black vehicle. ------------------ Covenant Vehicles ------------------ Ghost: A fast vehicle, but it also lacks in health and can be destroyed easily. For a weapon, you can fire around plasma cells while moving around, but they are fairly weak. You'll find Elites riding these vehicles, but you can take out the Elites WITHOUT destroying the Ghost if you want it. Its head is exposed when riding, so go for the head until he dies, without hitting the Ghost. The Ghost is also like a little glider. It glides in the air but it doesn't fly. In large multiplayer maps like Sidewinder, use this to get from one base to another quickly, as its pretty fast. Other than speed, this is a below average vehicle. Banshees: This is a plane you can use to fly around in the air to get from one spot to another. You'll need these in Keyes, Two Betrayals, and Assault on the Control Room so don't waste these. They have a good amount of speed but its defense is average. When flying around, you can use this to attack enemies. The left mouse button can fire plasma cells and the right mouse button can fire a plasma missile, which can damage your Banshee if it but it can knock out enemies easily. But if you fire this, it will need to be recharged before using it again. To fly around in the air, use the mouse to point in the direction you want to steer and then use the same controls to fly. The bad part about a Banshee is that you can't take someone's Banshee while they're in it, otherwise you'll destroy the Banshee if you fire at it too much. Stationary Guns: This isn't a vehicle, but I'd thought I'd put it here anyway. As its name says, it's stationary, so it cannot move. These are also known by "Covenant Gun Turrets" or "Shades", but let's use Stationary Guns. You can hop into them and use the weapon to take out enemies, both Covenant and Flood. The plasma in this isn't too strong, but it's enough to take out anything. Also, you can use this to take out all the Covenant troops at the gravity lift in Truth and Reconciliation. Like I said, the bad part about this is that it cannot move, meaning you if someone throws a Plasma Grenade onto this, it can get stuck, so get out of the Stationary Gun before it explodes right in front of you. Wraiths: This is a vehicle, but too bad only Elites can use this. It moves around very slowly, but the huge energy ball fired out is extremely powerful. It can kill you very easily on a direct hit, or it could drain your shields and put you at minimum health. But the energy ball is fired out slowly, giving you more than enough time to dodge it. The other good part is that the Wraith is a big target, so you can kill it with a Rocket Launcher or any weapon easily. Just make sure you have enough ammo before fighting, because you'll need a lot of it if you don't have a Rocket Launcher. ============== 6. Characters ============== Here are the list of the main characters of the game and what their roles are and such. Master Chief = This is the person you will play as. He is a special type of Marine called a SPARTAN II, and is the only one left of his kind. If you read the book Halo: Fall of Reach, you found out he had a team with him, with Fred, Kelly, and Linda, but they all died when Reach fell. He wakes up from is cryo sleep and is out there to help the marines stop Halo from destroying the universe. He is also aided with an Artificial Intelligence Cortana, who will help you along the whole game except for two levels. Cortana = This is the AI in the game. She is a pretty smart AI who finds out what the ring was designed to do and she will guide you throughout the game once you put her in the back of your helmet. She has a hologram that can be purple or green with different designs on her. She'll call for evacuation and do much more to help you, such as call in troops. Once you receive her and get her off the Pillar of Autumn, Captain Keyes will tell you to keep her away from the Covenant, because if the Covenant ever captured her (they can't in this game), they could find out weapon research, stuff about marines and most importantly - the location of Earth. Foehammer = This is the pilot Cortana will always call in for evac at the end of many levels. Sometimes Cortana will call her "Echo 419", but this is the name of the ship Foehammer drives. You may see that name on the side of the Pelican. So if Cortana calls her Foehammer or Echo 419, just remember it's the same thing to clear up confusion. At the end of the game, two Banshees take her down when trying to get you out of the Pillar of Autumn. Captain Jacob Keyes = This is the captain of the UNSC forces. When he discovered Halo, he wanted to land the Pillar of Autumn on it and wanted to find out what it was and what it could do. He will give you your first weapon of the game and he will give you Cortana to take care of as well. Although he is the captain, he is pretty weird and gets into a lot of trouble. He will get captured twice in this game, and the second time he gets captured, it's not going to be a pretty scene. You just need to watch and find out. When he gets captured the first time, you will rescue him and he will take a Needler. Now the bad part is that you need to protect him, because he'll go too far and kill himself, pissing you off. And if he dies, you go back to the last checkpoint. UNSC Marines = There's so many marines in this game, but let's just call them marines, because I don't want to find out the name of every single marine. They are there to help you for the first 6 levels, and after you beat 343 Guilty Spark, they're all gone. Some of the known marines in the game are SGT. Johnson, a black marine who can be really funny, and PVT. Jenkins, whose video you watch will become very important. These marines can be useful or useless. They usually have Assault Rifles and fire in three round bursts, but in later levels, they get Shotguns and Covenant weapons. Also, if you get one as a gunner in a Warthog, they can seriously be your best friend. Covenant = Although I already described each of them in the enemies section, this is who they are. The Covenant are aliens who have taken down planet Reach and many people, marines, and SPARTANS as well. Now they have a new objective - find the location of Earth and take over the overpopulated Earth. It's your job to prevent that from happening as you go and destroy Halo as well. 343 Guilty Spark = Even though this is the name of the level, it is actually a floating monitor with a blue glow. You will meet him at the end of 343 Guilty Spark while taking on the flood near a tower. He tells you that the Flood must be stopped and you go out with him to retrieve the index, which can activate Halo and wipe out the galaxy. His voice sounds like a total nerd and he is a technical person as well. He is also pretty annoying, and he'll be in every single level after you meet him except for Keyes. And when you follow him in the Library, he'll start humming and singing, which actually sounds like Cinderella singing in the shower. =========== 7. Options =========== There are many types of options in this game. I will list them separately. --------------------- Title Screen Options --------------------- Campaign: Select this to start, load, or select a new level for the profile you are currently using. Multiplayer: Select this to go into multiplayer mode. You must have an internet connection. Each time you will connect, it will check for updates. Read more about this in my Multiplayer Section. Profiles: Use this to create or delete a new player profile. You can name your player whatever you want, but this will only be used for Multiplayer. Each profile has their different file in the game. 1 person could be at level 4 and another could already have the entire game beaten. Settings: Use this to modify your profile and settings, such as audio, video, color, controls, and so on. All of these will be described in a different section for the Options. Credits: View the Credits for who made the game. It also has the credits for the original Xbox version. Quit: Use this to quit the game. It's as obvious as it says. --------------------- While Game is Paused --------------------- Resume Game: When paused, use this to go back to the game you are currently playing. Save Checkpoint: If you don't feel like playing and you want to quit, you can use this to save and record your last checkpoint that you got to and then you can quit. When you want to load this back up, go to Campaign, Load Game, and choose the checkpoint that you previously saved. Load Checkpoint: When something is going wrong and you recently got a checkpoint, you can use this to go back to your last checkpoint and try something again. You probably will find yourself using this all the time on harder difficulties. Change Settings: Again, this is the same thing as "Settings" on the main menu. This will be described later on in the section. Quit: Quits the game without saving (unless you already saved a checkpoint), and turns you back to the main screen. ----------------------- Changing Your Settings ----------------------- These are the settings you can change when you pause the game and go to "Change Settings" or select "Settings" on the main menu. Also, when changing settings, hit Ok on the settings section you're on, and then hit Ok on the options list to save them, otherwise they won't be saved. On any section, remember there is a default button to set those settings back at default if you mess up with something. +++++++++++++ Change Name: +++++++++++++ You can use this just to change the name of your player for Multiplayer. Names can have up to 12 characters maximum. ++++++++++++++++++++ Customize Controls: ++++++++++++++++++++ If you are not comfortable with the controls (like to move, fire weapon, etc), you can use this to customize the controls whatever way you want it. You can have up to two controls per action, 1 keyboard control and 1 mouse control. If your mouse has a scroller, you can use scroll up or scroll down for controls as well. +++++++++ GamePad: +++++++++ This option will be available if your are using a GamePad, in that case you can customize controls for the GamePad. +++++++++++++ Mouse Setup: +++++++++++++ Horizontal Sensitivity: The default for this is 3. Adjust it higher to make turning left and right faster, or lower it down to make turning left and right slower. Vertical Sensitivity: The default for this is 3. Adjust it higher to make turning up and down faster, or lower it down to make turning up and down slower. Invert Vertical Axis: This can change the way you look up and down. The default for this is "No". If you leave it on no, moving your mouse forward will look up and moving your mouse backward will look down. If you set it to Yes, moving your mouse forward will make you look down and moving it backwards will make you look up. +++++++++++++ Audio Setup: +++++++++++++ This can be used to adjust your sound settings for the game. Master Volume: This will be at 10. Adjust this to control the volume for both sound effects and music. Music Volume: This will be at 10. Adjust this to control the volume for the game's music. Putting it at 0 will turn the music off. Effects Volume: This will be at 10. Adjust this to control the volume for the game's sound effects. Putting it at 0 will turn the sound effects off. Hardware Acceleration: Putting it at no (the default) will not use any sound buffers. Putting it on yes will use sound buffers. Sound Quality: The default for this is Normal. Set it to low to have lower audio quality and put it on high for higher sound quality, depending on the speed of your computer that you have. Environmental Sound: This option will be off and you can't ever adjust it. Environmental Sounds comes from DirectX. They create the vibrating sounds and the echos, and they were programmed by the game developers, and we have no way to adjust them. Sound Variety: The default for this will be at High. Putting it at Normal or Low will reduce the variety of sounds for this game, and if you have a slower computer, this may need to be adjusted. +++++++++++++ Video Setup: +++++++++++++ Resolution: The default for this is 800 x 600. You can choose between 640 x 480, 800 x 600, 1024 x 768, 1152 x 864, 1280 x 768, 1280 x 960, and 1280 x 1024. The higher the resolution is, the more detailed the game is and less blurry. The lower the resolution, the less detailed and more blurry. Be warned, however, that some monitors can't display some of these resolutions correctly, so be careful in what you choose. A Higher resolution also means you'll need a faster computer. Refresh Rate: The default is 60HZ, which it should be kept on. Putting it higher may mess up the display and could do worse to your monitor, but make sure your monitor/video card can hold whatever you're choosing. Framerate: Adjusting this can make it so that the framerate can go higher or lower than the refresh rate, which could affect the game's performance. Specular: Keeping this on will add luster to objects, and turning it off will take away the luster on objects. Shadows: Turning this on will add dynamic shadows to the game, and turning it off will get rid of the dynamic shadows. Decals: This will add detail into the game such as bullet holes and blood. Turning it off will get rid of the bullet holes and blood, and if you have a slower PC, turning it off, could affect the game's performance and make it faster. Particles: This can adjust other details of the game, like sparks and dust. Texture Quality: Set this to Low, Medium, and High to have the textures drawn at that kind of quality. Gamma: Lowering the gamma will make it darker and raising it will brighten it up for those who have bad eye sights and such. +++++++++++++++++ Network Options: +++++++++++++++++ Connection Type: Use this to configure what kind of connection you have, such as Dial Up, DSL or Cable. Faster connections can hold more people in a Multiplayer game. Server and Client Port: This will configure your ports for when creating a server. ++++++++++++++ Change Color: ++++++++++++++ Too bad this wasn't for single player. Changing Master Chief's color is only for multiplayer. You can change to any of the colors listed or you can just use the default uniform. +++++++ About: +++++++ This shows your game's current ID for when you have a technical problem (in which case you contact Microsoft), and the game's version number. =============== 8. Walkthrough =============== Before starting the walkthrough, there are some things you should know. Before starting a level, you can choose 1 of 4 difficulties to play the level on, between Easy, Normal, Heroic, and Legendary. If you are new to this game, try it out on Easy or Normal, which is what I did. Heroic is obviously a step up from Normal, and it's a little more fun to play on. Legendary is what it says - enemies fire more quickly and accurately, and Elites are a lot harder to kill. And don't expect your marines to be much help either. Another thing you should note if you are new to this game is how your health works. At the beginning of the game, you will get your health and shields set up. It will look like this in the top right hand corner of the screen. |------------------| |_______________ | |_|_|_|_|_|_|_|_|__| The 8 boxes above are your health. These will not be affected until your shields, which is the rectangular, pistol looking shape above, has run out. When you get hit, your shields will drain, and when they get low, they will make beeping sounds. Don't worry, your shields will recover automatically after a few seconds to full. They will recover if lowered as well. But ones your shields drain out, you will be vulnerable to attacks. Your health will go down when hit, and you'll lose a health bar if hit enough. You can recover these with Health Packs found throughout the game. So when your shields drain, take cover and let them recharge before attacking again. With that, let's move onto the walkthrough. ------------------------------ Level 1: The Pillar of Autumn ------------------------------ -Escape Intact as Covenant Forces board your ship. In the Pillar of Autumn, you, the Master Chief, will be waken up from Cryo Sleep after Planet Reach has fell to the Covenant. Being in the Pillar of Autumn and being your first level, you will learn the basics of this game, what to do, and how to play and such. ******************************************************************************* CUTSCENE First you will get a glance of outer space and the Pillar of Autumn will come flying in. You'll get a view inside the bridge and you'll hear Captain Keyes and Cortana talking about how the Covenant escaped from Reach faster than they did, as Covenant ships are faster. Cortana will also mention how Covenant forces will be all over the Pillar of Autumn in about 90 seconds. Captain Keyes will combat alert the ship. You will get to see the marines, vehicles, and Pelicans in the next cut scene (How did that first one get plasma swords?). Now, you'll see Sergeant Johnson yelling at a group of marines. If you are playing on Legendary, he will scream out something more different and with language in it. Now, after he talks, you'll be taken to the Cryo room. The technicians will thaw you out and you will wake up. ******************************************************************************* !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOTE: The following two paragraphs are for when you're playing on Easy, Normal, or Heroic. If you're playing on Legendary, skip the next to paragraphs. On Legendary, you won't do the shielding testing or the looking test. You'll start the level with your shields, health, and motion tracker already online. On Easy, Normal, and Heroic, you won't get your motion tracker until much later in this level. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Before you get out of the tube, your health will be put online so you'll be able so see them. Now hit your action button to get out of the tube. As you get out of the tube, take the time to run around, look around, and to get used to the controls as well. Now follow the technician in this room and you'll see a red square. Step into this red square and face the 5 yellow lights on the wall. The object is to look up and down at each of the 5 lights. They will turn green once looked at. When you have all 5 green, your mouse settings will be changed to inverted. Look at the lights in inverted mode. If you want to remain inverted, hit your action button. If you like it the normal way, hit Escape and THEN your action button to change it back. With that out of the way, follow him to the other end of the room, and there will be a yellow square. Step in the middle of it and let the technicians put your shields online. Once they are fully charged, hit your action button and they will discharge your shields and show you how they work. Now get out of this yellow square and Captain Keyes will request you to get up to the bridge immediately. Elites will break into the upper room and kill the technicians up there. Now to exit this room and start our way through the beginning of the game. MISSION OBJECTIVES: -Find Captain Keyes on the Bridge Follow the technician and he will unlock the door, so enter it. Turn right in this hall. Now there will be an explosion that will kill him and jam the door, so let's go through the opening to the left. Jump over the pipes and go into the opening in front of you. In here, turn right and enter the door across from you. Enter the door across from you in this hallway and you will be in a bigger room. Turn left and you will see a door that is half open. Crouch under this door using your crouch button to get under it. There are Elites to your left, but the door will shut on them. Turn right and go through the first door to your left. In here, enter the door across from you. There may be an Elite in front of you, but there are marines to take it out. Head left and follow this hallway to an opening. You'll get to a room with more marines fighting. Head through the opening in front of you, and a marine will guide you to the bridge, but ignore him. You'll be in a room with marines on their "break". Just head through the entrance at the other side of this room, as there is nothing else special in this area. In this hallway, head left and you'll see an entrance to your right, so enter it. Follow this hallway to the bridge. Head to the other side of this room and meet Captain Keyes. ******************************************************************************* CUTSCENE Once the talking starts, the captain will explain that he and Cortana couldn't get away from the Covenant. Cortana's hologram will appear and describe what's happening as well, and then ask the Master Chief if he slept well. After that, the Pillar of Autumn will be struck by a powerful cannon blast of some sort. Captain Keyes then announces that he's going to Abandon this ship and try to land it on Halo. Now the Captain will tell you to protect Cortana and keep her away from the Covenant. She will take one last look at the bridge and then be yanked out. Now she will be inserted into the back of your head. Once inserted, she will go "Hm, your architecture isn't much different from the Autumn's" with Master Chief going "Don't get any funny ideas". ******************************************************************************* AI CYBORGS AND CONSTRUCTS FIRST! MISSION OBJECTIVES -Get off the Pillar of Autumn With that handled out, Captain Keyes will give you an empty Pistol. Now turn around and leave the bridge. In this hallway, head left and follow this hallway to an entrance. While walking, you'll pick up Pistol ammo. Head forward and kill the three Grunts in this room, but you can't pick up their weapons yet. Head into the entrance in front of you where you'll pick up an Assault Rifle from a dead marine. In this dining room you will see marines fighting Grunts and Elites. Take cover and help them out. Hide behind one of the alcoves and use your Pistol to zoom in and take out the Grunts. For taking out Elites, use your pistol to get rid of their Shields and then finish them off with the Assault Rifle. Now once all the enemies are dead in here, head through 1 of the two open doors at one side of the room. Kill any remaining Grunts here and then head into the entrance in front of you. Get the Health Pack in front of the entrance if needed. In this hallway, just follow it until you get to an Elite fighting with two marines. The Elite won't notice you just yet, so melee attack him on his back to kill him in one hit. With the Elite dead, head through the entrance across from you. You will meet with a few marines and you'll hear another rumbling on this ship. Follow the marines to another room. You'll see two other marines guarding an airlock. It will explode and Grunts and Elites will come out of it. Kill the Grunts and let the marines help you out with the Elites. Now go through the entrance they came out of. There are two Over Shields across from you. Pick up one of them and you will gain two extra layers of shields. Leave the airlock now. Back in this room, head right and follow this passage until you get to a locked door. To the right of the locked door is an opening, so go through it. Kill the Grunt right in front of you and then follow this hallway until you see an opening to your right and in front of you. Go through the opening to the right. Kill the Grunts in this hallway and follow it to another opening, and then head through this opening. Out in this room, kill an Elite and swap one of your weapons for its Plasma Rifle. Once all of the enemies here are dead, put your back to the opening you came out of. Head right and you will see another opening to your right. Grab the Health Pack next to the opening and go through it. In here, follow this hallway until you get to a group of Grunts and an Elite. Kill all of them with your Plasma Rifle and step back for protection if needed. When all of the enemies are dead, go through the opening across from you. In this room, there should be surviving marines. Follow them to another airlock opening. Kill the Elites and Grunts in this area, and use the shields up in this area for protection. There is another airlock here. Go through it and pick up an Over Shield if your previous one ran out. Now leave this airlock. Back in this room, head right and follow this passage until you get to a darker room. Turn right and you will see a door half open. Crouch under this door. Elites will ambush two technicians from the left and right. The best way to handle them is to go through the entrance to the right and follow this hallway back to the same room. Kill the Elites like this so you won't have to fight them in the open. Now face the dead/alive technicians and go through the opening to the left. In here, follow this hallway to a big room with a staircase. You will see the staircase in the middle of the room, with Grunts and Elites on the higher level and the marines on the lower levels. I would get to the middle of the staircase and take out the Covenant from there using a Plasma Rifle or a Pistol. Pray that the marines will help you as well. Once all of the Covenant are dead on the higher floor, head up to the top of the staircase onto the higher level. Up here, go through the opening across from the staircase. In here, head right and use the pillars and boards for protections against the next set of Grunts and Elites. Now once they are all dead, head straight into a darker room. Turn right and you will see a set of Grunts across from you. You can easily kill them. Kill the next set of Grunts that come in and go into the next dark room. In here, turn left and kill the Elite across from you. Head straight to the wall across from you and turn right. Head all the way straight past this room. Now turn right and get in front of the windows and watch the life pods get destroyed by Covenant cannons. Once they stop coming out, turn right and follow this hallway into another room. You will see so many openings leading to lifeboats to your left, but ignore them. Kill all of the Grunts across from you and Cortana will warn you a blast door behind you is closing. She will put up a NAV point. They are orange arrows that show you where to go, and how far you are away from that distance, measured in meters and kilometers for farther distances (why couldn't we have an option to switch to feet and miles for those who hate the metric system like me)? Anyway, follow it to a locked door, and then Cortana will unlock it. Enter it to go into the dark maze. In this maze, go through the opening to the left. In here, follow the left hand wall until you get to a locked door. This door will not be locked on Legendary, however, but this walkthrough does not take you through that direction When you get to this locked door, Cortana will activate your motion tracker in the bottom left corner of the screen (unless you are on Legendary, which in that case you'll already have it at the beginning of the level). This will show you where enemies and marines are located. Allies are yellow and enemies are red dots. Playing on Legendary or not, go through the opening on the right wall. In this hallway, there will be an unlocked door across from you, so enter it. In this room, there will be a damaged door across from you if you are playing on Easy/Normal/Heroic, but it's already opened on Legendary. Melee attack this door to break it open and then go through it. In this hallway, follow it and you'll see a Grunt's back to you. Let's try out our melee attack. Melee attack the Grunt to kill him. Now follow this hallway to an Elite. His back will be against you. Without firing your weapon, let's have more fun and melee attack this Elite to kill him. Now go through the entrance in front of you. In here, kill all of the Grunts and the last Elite. Now head right and you will see an arrow with "Cryo B" on it pointing to an opening. Go through this opening. Head down the ramp in front of you into a control you. To your right is a window. Remember that little area? Elites are now there, as they wanted to catch you napping. Now that we've seen this little area, go through the opening to your left. In here, head up the ramp in front of you. At the top, you will see an Elite. If you have a Plasma Rifle, blast the hell out of it. Otherwise, walk into the opening across from you. In here, head right and kill all of the Grunts over here. There will be a door to your left near the explosion. Enter this door. In this maze, just simply follow the left handed wall to a door, killing the Grunt in this maze. When you get to the door, walk up to it. Out in this big room, kill an enemy 1 by 1, retreating whenever possible to recharge your shield. Try to take out the Elite first, so that the Grunts will be easy. When all is clear, head out into this room. In this room, head left and you will see an opening to your left and right. Go through the opening on the left and follow this long passage until you get to a life pod room, killing any Grunts and Elites in your path. When you get to the life pod areas, walk up to the big bars and pick up Fragmentation Grenades. Throw them into the large group of Grunts to kill them all. Try to get the Elites in the explosions and then finish them off. Once all of the enemies are dead, walk forward and go through the small opening to the right. Wait for a cut scene to happen and then you have finished the level. ******************************************************************************* CUTSCENE A marine will fall onto the ground and the Master Chief will throw him into the life pod. He will board on it and it will get off the Pillar of Autumn. Now the Master Chief will look at Halo and then look at the back of the life pod. You will notice the Pillar of Autumn is accelerating and Keyes is going to board Halo manually. Now the life pod will board Halo with Cortana asking the Master Chief "Don't you want to take a seat" with him saying "We'll be fine". The scene will end with Cortana saying "If I had fingers they'll be crossed" ******************************************************************************* -------------- Level 2: Halo -------------- -Seek out surviving marines and help them fight the Covenant. You have now gotten off the Pillar of Autumn and are landing on the ring's surface. However, you are in for a nasty surprise at the beginning of the level. FLAWLESS COWBOY ******************************************************************************* CUTSCENE The life pod you left on is going nuts. The air breaks have failed and the wings are falling off. On top of that, it's coming into Halo too fast. It will crash and the screen will go white. ******************************************************************************* MISSON OBJECTIVES -Evade the Covenant Patrols searching for you. -Head for higher grounds. -Search for other lifeboats. After being shocked by the crash, you will be able to look around. This crash has caused everyone else, including the pilot, to die on this life pod. So now that they're all dead, let's get out of this life pod and we'll be outside. There will be some dead marines out here. Pick up their Assault Rifles and Pistols for extra ammo, and get some of their Fragmentation Grenades as well. Now Cortana will say there is a Covenant dropship on approach. With your back to the crashed life pod, head straight to the bridge and cross it. By the time you get to the end of the bridge, you should already see the Covenant dropship. My best way to get protection is to get behind that rock to the left. Now once the dropship drops off the Grunts and the Elite, the best way to kill them is to zoom in with your Pistol and take out the Grunts one by one. When all of the Grunts are dead, get closer to the bridge you crossed and take out the Elite with the Pistol. Also, watch out for the two Banshees attacking you. Use either weapon to take these out, otherwise they will leave. Once everybody is dead, cross the bridge over to the lifeboat again. Pick up the Plasma Grenades the Covenant may have dropped, and then get some extra Assault Rifle and Pistol ammo from the dead marines so you'll have maximum ammo for the next part. With that done, cross the same bridge again. Back over here, head all the way right and continue straight. There will be no Covenant at first, but when you get to an opening, you will find more Grunts and Elites. When you get to the Grunts and Elites, get close enough so that you can attack with your Pistol zoomed in. Take out the Grunts at first and then use the rocks and trees as protection to fight the Elites. Once all of the Covenant enemies are dead over here, swap out your Assault Rifle for a Plasma Rifle from one of the dead Elites, as it will be really useful over the next part. Continue straight and you'll get to a pit leading to lower ground, so head down it. Down here, head left and a life pod will be detected by Cortana. You'll also notice a Covenant dropship dropping out a few Grunts and some Elites. Kill the Grunts and when you have the face the Elite, back off and using a Plasma Rifle to get rid of its shields, and then finish it with your Pistol. Now walk up to the marines and they will explain that they thought they were the only survivors on the ring (until you showed up). MISSION OBJECTIVES -Stay with the human survivors -Protect the human survivors -Wait for an evac dropship to arrive At the end of the chat, a Covenant dropship will drop off Elites, Grunts, and Jackals at the other side of this building you are next to. There are many things you can use for protection here. There are trees, rocks, the top of the large building, and even going inside of the smaller buildings that scatter this area. Use these as your advantage to take out the Covenant. While fighting them (or if you already killed all of them), another Covenant dropship will drop off more Elites and Grunts near you. Help out the marines killed them off, fighting for protection if you need to. If you ever run out of ammo, you could swap out for a Covenant weapon, or there will be some extra ammo and health on the top of the large structure in this area, where other marines are. There is also a life pod where the marines came from near the building, containing more health and ammo. With two dropships gone, a third one will come in on the OTHER SIDE of this building. If there are still any marines alive, one of them will claim "They're trying to flank us". If you still have your Pistol, head over to the dropship and take out at least 3 or 4 Grunts with your scope. Take out the remaining Grunts and then take out the Elite last. But you're still not done. A FOURTH dropship will drop off Jackals, Grunts, and Elites behind you. Take out the Jackals first. Use a Plasma Pistol or a Rifle to take their shields out, and then finish them off easily with a different weapon. Then get the Grunts next, and then use the Covenant weapons to take out any other Elites. A FIFTH dropship will then drop off more Covenant troops near you, usually with Grunts and Jackals in this one. This is normally the last one. Kill off the Grunts and Jackals and then you should get a call from Echo 419 asking for any survivors. Cortana will tell her they are alive. Echo 419 will come with her Pelican dropship and drop off a Warthog. If there any marines alive, they will go into the dropship right now. Don't worry, your Warthog will already come with a gunner in the back included. But before you go into the Warthog, grab any extra ammo, health, and grenades so that you will be ready for your next fight. Now get in the Warthog. MISSION OBJECTIVES -Search for 3 additional groups of human survivors. -Protect the human survivors. -Wait for an evac dropship. Now you will be in your first Warthog of the game. You will be in front of a big hill. Drive up the hill and you'll see a long slope in front of you leading into an opening. Head down this slope into the opening, and you'll be in a cave that somebody has built. It is a straightforward cave, so there is no possible way to get lost in here. Just follow this cave until you get to a gap. When you get to this gap, drive at it at full speed to get over it (you need the Warthog to do this). At the end of the gap, just head down the slope to your left and you'll get into a bigger room. In here are Grunts, Elites, and Jackals patrolling this area. Try to run most of them over. Also, your gunner that you have can be a big help here, as he can use his gun turret to wipe out any enemies easily, including the Elites. When all of the enemies in this area are dead, face the opening you used to enter this room. Now get out of the Warthog and head left. On the wall you are facing, there is an opening, so head up the ramp inside. At the top of the ramp, there will be an Elite to your left. My best way of getting rid of it is to throw a Plasma Grenade on it, and it that cast it will be killed easily. When the Elite is dead, follow this pathway until you see a switch on your left. When you see the switch, hit it and a bridge will be created to the other end of this room. Slide down the slope to your left to get back on the lower floor. Back down here, hop in your Warthog and cross the bridge. At the end of it, go through the opening across from you. In here, just follow this long pathway until you get to an opening leading outside. Cortana will explain that many more marines made it off the Pillar of Autumn than she had predicted. When you get to the opening, go through it and you'll be outside. REUNION TOUR Being outside, head up the hill across from you. At the top of the hill, there will be a river. Drive through the river. On the other side of this river, turn left and you should see an opening with blue lights to the side of it. Let the gunner take out the Jackals and then drive through this opening. In here, you will be at a large cliff area. Drive around the left cliff edge until you see a Health Pack on the ground. Once you get to it, get out of the Warthog and pick up the Health Pack. You will also notice a building opening to your right. Before going in this, kill many of the Grunts and Jackals, and have the marines take care of the Elites as well. Facing where the health pack was, enter the building that is to your right. In this building, head down the ramp to your left. Down here, kill the three Grunts and then head down the ramp to your left. Down in this area, kill the Jackals using a Covenant weapon or a melee attack, and then go through the opening next to you. In here, cross either pathway and you will find the marines that have evacuated, and Cortana has called for an evac as well. Go through the opening next to you. In here, head up the ramp in front of you. At the top, kill the Grunt and then head up the ramp to your left. Now go through the opening to your left and you will be outside again. Back out here, use your motion tracker to hunt down any remaining Grunts, Elites, and Jackals in this area. This area needs to be secure for when the marines (not you though) evacuate if they survive. When finding the enemies, use the buildings and rocks as protection, and try to have the marines help you as much as they can. When taking out the enemies, remember that they may be on top of structures as well. But once all of the enemies are dead, the Pelican will arrive and the surviving marines will board onto it. You on the other hand have to find two more additional groups of survivors. MISSION OBJECTIVES -Search for the remaining two groups of human survivors. -Protect the human survivors. -Wait for an evac dropship. Now with 1 area down, we have 2 more to go. Look for your Warthog and jump back into it. Now to get out of here, let's just head the out the same opening we used to get into here earlier. When getting out of here, there should be a river right in front of you. Back in this area, drive into the river in front of you. Turn left and follow this river until you see a pathway of water leading to the left or right. Take the right path and follow this long river until you stop at a waterfall. Once you get to this waterfall, turn left and you'll see an opening with blue lights in front of you. Go through this opening and you'll be in the next area. This area should have a large structure in the middle of the area with a big hill across from you. The marines are on that hill. Before getting to them, kill off some of the Jackals and Grunts by running them over (or by having your marines take them out if you have them). Now head up the hill to the marines and get out of the warthog. Up here, look for any additional ammo and then head back down the hill. Down here, use your Pistol's scope to take out any Jackals. While fighting, a Covenant dropship will come in and dump more enemies on your parades. Continue to use your Pistol. Take out a few Grunts that the dropship drops off. Since there's plenty of open space in this area, you should be able to get an Elite too. Also you can drain their shields and attack with a different weapon before they are charged. Yep. That is the only dropship here. Echo 419 will come in and pick up the surviving marines. You just have to get in your Warthog and find just 1 more group. MISSION OBJECTIVES -Search for the last group of human survivors. -Protect the human survivors. -Wait for an evac dropship. Get back in your Warthog. There are two ways to get out of this area, but to make things easier for me, use the opening we used to get into this area earlier. Cortana will locate Captain Keyes and tell you that the Covenant have captured him and a few of the marines as well. Back in this area, the waterfall should be just to your left. Cross the river and follow the left hand wall until you get to another opening with blue lights. When you get to the opening, go through it and follow the path into the final area to rescue marines. You should be in an extremely rocky area. Drive your Warthog into the rocks and you should find marines fighting Elites and Grunts. If you have a gunner in your Warthog, it can get rid of them all easily. Otherwise, get out of your Warthog and fight with the marines. When all of them are dead, approach the marines and they will talk to you. Another marine should radio in and alert you of a Covenant dropship approaching the area. Search for the dropship and fight the Elites and Jackals. When all of them are dead, another dropship will appear near the opening leading to this area. If you dropped your Warthog with a gunner in that area, you may find some enemies dead. Kill off the Grunts and the Elites and a THIRD dropship will come in and drop off Grunts and Elites. Use the rocks for protection and if you need to, get in the gunner seat of your Warthog to take out the Elites and Grunts. A fourth dropship will also appear near a life pod. If you ever need any health or ammo, it is found near this life pod. Take out the Elites and Jackals using whatever means necessary, as this is the last dropship. Once all of them are dead, Cortana will signal in a Pelican dropship. When it lands onto the ground, press your action button to jump into it. Any surviving marines will also head into the Pelican as well. Time to go out onto a Covenant cruiser! -------------------------------------- Level 3: The Truth and Reconciliation -------------------------------------- -Board a Covenant ship in an attempt to rescue Captain Keyes. We have rescued as many survivors as possible and are now heading towards our next mission: to board a Covenant cruiser and rescue Captain Keyes. He has been captured by the Covenant and it's up to you to save him. ******************************************************************************* CUTSCENE Cortana will say that the enemy has captured Captain Keyes. As the Pelican drop ship comes onto the screen, a marine will ask how to board the ship. Sergeant Johnson will explain that there's a gravity lift to allow troops and supplies into the ship. That's how you get into the ship. ******************************************************************************* TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION MISSION OBJECTIVES -Board the Covenant battle cruiser. As soon as you get off the Pelican, five extra marines will be here to help you. But if you are playing on Legendary, they won't be too much help. You will also start this level out with a Sniper Rifle. It will be useful in the first half of the level and useless in the second half. So use all of your bullets that you will get for this wisely. Now all of the marines will take their positions on the ground and will not move. Cortana recommends using your Sniper Rifle to take out the first set of Covenant enemies. But once they start to find and attack you, the marines will get off the ground and attack back. My favorite place to snipe out the Covenant is behind a U-Shaped rock. To find this rock, search for the two pathways leading for the next area. One will be a downward slope and the other pathway will lead straight to a dead-end. Face these two pathways and turn around. The U-Shaped rock will be right there (it has a funny shape, but you should find it). Get near this rock and start zooming in with your Sniper Rifle in the big area. Take out each limping Grunt you see. If your view is clear enough, you may see Grunts in gun turrets. Kill them by sniping them out on the extreme top of their head. If you see Elites walking, it should take up to two shots at MOST to kill them. There will also be Jackals walking around this area. Only try to shoot them if you have a clear shot of their body because of their shield. If you cannot find any enemies, make an adjustment by moving forward to a new location to snipe out Covenant enemies. If you go to the two pathways, take the one leading straight to a dead end for another sniping spot. You'll find another Gun Turret, so kill any Grunt in here. Once the Covenant finds you and fires at you, or if you've killed enough enemies, music will play and the marines will storm in to help you. You can either A) head down to the lower pit and fight the Grunts/Jackals/Elites with them, or B), you can stay in a sniping spot and try to take out a little more enemies. Once all of the Covenant are dead, fall into the pit if you haven't and head straight to the Gun Turret. To the right of this Gun Turret is a new path. Head down this path and kill off the Jackals and Grunts. Don't go into the Gun Turret to kill them, because most likely a Grunt will toss a Plasma Grenade onto the turret and kill you, and then you'll have to start the sniping all over the again. With all of the enemies in this area killed, you should get a message from the marines going "Hey! We did it! We're right behind you chief!" With that done, head down the pathway next to the Gun Turret. Follow this pathway until you get to another set of rocks. This will be your second sniping area. Get behind one of the rocks and zoom in with your sniper rifle. You'll also notice a Gun Turret on the higher ledge across from you. Take out any Grunts that hop in it. Also take out the Jackal that is walking on the higher ledge. Soon enough an Elite will jump down, so take him out with your Sniper Rifle, remembering to use the rocks as protection. Once you have killed enough enemies, move forward and an Elite will come out from the opening to the right. Have the marines help you by taking out this Elite, and if you need to, you can stay back and kill it with a Sniper Rifle. More Grunts will come out from the left pathway, so take them out before heading up it. Now search for a marine that is dead. Next to its dead body are grenades, a Health Pack, and some ammo. Refresh yourself with all that's available. Now head left and head up to the higher platform that's above you. The marines will also follow you as well. Up here, snipe out any distant Grunts or Elites that you see. You should also toss a Fragmentation Grenade into the group of Grunts you may see. When most of the enemies are dead, walk forward and you'll see a pathway leading to the next area across from you. An Elite may come out of this pathway, so kill him. More Grunts will follow the Elite afterwards, but you and your marines can easily kill them. When all of the Covenant in this area are dead, go up to the pathway across from you. Now follow the pathway up to the next huge area. In this area, you will have two paths up to the higher platform to the right: the slope to your right or the path across from you. Both of them lead to the same area, but there are plenty of Covenant enemies up there. The best way to eliminate the Covenant enemies on the higher platform is to get onto the rock in front of you. This rock is in the corner, and it's also next to a wall and in front of the higher ledge. If you jump on it up and down, you can see all of the Covenant enemies on this higher ledge. This method is useful, but you'll need to have a high hitting accuracy before your Sniper Rifle ammo goes down the drain. Keep jumping up and down, kill 1 Covenant enemies at a time each time you jump. If you kill some enemies but it isn't working too well, you can get off the rock, head left and head up the slope to the right. If you go too far upward, Cortana will signal in the marines to take the other path. If you kill enough enemies, a Covenant dropship will come in and drop in more Covenant troops near the far end of this area. Before taking out the enemies that come from the dropship, remember that to take out the Grunts in the gun turrets before they annoy you. Now if you have any marines left, they will help you take out the Grunts and Elites. Use the trees and the rocks in this area for protection as well. When all of the Covenant troops are dead in this area, look for an Active Camouflage, which will help you a bit in the next area. Once you find it, pick it up and drop down to the lower ground to your left. Down here, head straight under the thin bridge that connects two platforms together. Over here, turn left and you should see a passage, so enter it. In this passage are Grunts and Elites. Get on the back of Elites and melee attack them to kill them while you are invisible. Then go after the Grunts. When all of the enemies here are dead, get to the end of the passage and you'll be in the next area. Now this is my favorite part of the game. The first thing you should do is pull out your Sniper Rifle. A higher ledge with a gun turret on it should be directly across from you. Take out the Grunt in it and then take out the Elite next to it. Now take out your Assault Rifle and kill the Grunts and Jackals on the ground in front of you. When you have killed enough enemies, walk forward, using the slope to get onto the higher ledge above you. Up here, look around this area for more gun turrets and other Covenant enemies. Take out the Grunts inside the gun turrets and also kill any additional enemies. You should also notice a gravity lift leading to the inside of the cruiser. You will use this to enter the cruiser, but you can't enter it yet. First off, kill any remaining enemies. Then a Covenant dropship will come in and release more Elites, Grunts, and Jackals into this area. The best way to get rid of these enemies are to get into one of the gun turrets and just fire consistently at them. Now a set of Grunts, Jackals, and Elites will emerge from the middle of the gravity lift. Like earlier, stay in your gun turret and keep firing at the group of Covenant enemies hading right at you. As you kill off more groups, more and more Grunts, Jackals, and Elites will keep coming down from the gravity lift. Just keep firing at the enemies and at the gravity lift and eventually you'll kill them all. After you have killed a number of groups (could be a wide range of them depending on your difficulty), two Hunters will come down from the gravity lift. Get out of your gun turret to fight them. If you have marines, have them distract the Hunters, while you fire at the orange spot in their back with an Assault Rifle. If they attack you, dodge their fuel rod gun attack and when they try to melee attack you, back up and then run to the side, and this will give you the chance to kill them from the back. When both of them are dead, Cortana will call in Echo 419 to bring you marines, whether if you still have them or not. These marines will enter the gravity lift with you, and if you have any other marines, they won't enter the gravity lift. Before getting into the gravity lift, look for a Plasma Pistol or a Plasma Rifle on the ground. When you find one, swap out your Sniper Rifle for one of these weapons, as your Sniper Rifle will be useless from here onto the end of the level. When the marines come, get in the gravity lift and wait for it to haul you up. INTO THE BELLY OF THE BEAST ******************************************************************************* CUTSCENE You and all of the marines will be hauled into the Covenant cruiser via the gravity lift. The marines will have fun going in it, while you will be the last one to enter the ship. ******************************************************************************* MISSION OBJECTIVES -Find the ship's brig and rescue Captain Keyes. Ok, this is going to be most likely the most annoying part of this level. First off, the giant room you are in has no Covenant enemies in this room for now. Cortana will not detect any Covenant defenses and all of a sudden "What? No Covenant! Looks like maybe nobody's home". Now this is where you must be on the lookout. Notice the 4 doors in this room. One of them will open, containing a cloaked Elite with a sword. Fire at it before it kills you and all of the other marines, because if you are playing on Legendary, this will be a real pain in the ass. Just remember that a cloaked Elite has no shields, so fire at it and it will go very fast. Now the real fight starts. Grunts, Elites, and Jackals can come out at anytime from any of the 4 small doors. Sometimes, on hard difficulties, you may find an Elite with a sword, and it will be a gold Elite or a cloaked Elite. When you find enemies in large groups, use a Fragmentation Grenade to take them out. All of the doors are locked, but when a Grunt, Elite, or a Jackal opens the door from the other side, you can go through it as long as it's open, but you can't go anywhere yet, and they will only be small hallways. To kill off Gold Elites with the swords, use a Plasma Pistol charged shot to knock out their shields and finish them off with an Assault Rifle. When fighting, watch out because enemies can sneak up behind you easily. For protection, you can use one of the small hallways or the crates in the big main room. On Legendary and Heroic, your marines can possibly die from the Covenant in a matter of minutes, hell, even seconds. When you get low on Health, there is a Health Pack next to dead marine in the corner of the room. Only use this when you get to minimal health. There is also an Active Camouflage in this room. You can wear it, cloak yourself, and kill enemies with the melee attack. Just hang in there, keep fighting, switch out for Plasma Pistols/Rifles/Needlers if needed, and don't get in the middle of large fights. After all your hard work of fighting Covenant enemies (and it seems endless on Legendary), Covenant troops will stop appearing. One of the bigger doors in the main room will open. If you are playing on Easy or Normal, they will just be little harmless Jackals. Heroic and normal players get a nice surprise - Hunters. Use the strategy you used to take out the Hunters just before you entered this cruiser, but this time, you have a little more protection. On top of that, face the opening of the big entrance. A door to the left of this will be unlocked, so enter it. In this room, head up the ramp in front of you. At the top, go through the entrance to your right. In this hallway, follow it until you get to a group of Grunts and Elites. Stay at a safe distance from them and take out the Grunts first. Use a Covenant weapon to kill the Elite with easy. Now continuing following this hallway until you get to a door. Once you get to this door, open it, but do not head into it. There are Elites and Jackals in front of you. My best bet would be to toss any type of grenade right at them, and this should hopefully kill off a few Jackals. If you need to recharge your shield, go behind the pillar behind you for protection. Now to take out the Elites, use a Plasma Pistol to discharge their shields and quickly kill them off with something else. If need be, enter the room and use the crates as protection. Now enter this room when the level you're on is secure. In this area, turn right and you'll see a big pit below you. It contains Grunts, Elites, and Jackals down there. From the spot you are in, try to kill the Grunts and Jackals. Taking out the Grunts shouldn't be too hard, but they run around when hit, making it a little harder. Keep firing at the Jackals until they actually die, because their shields here can be a pain. When you find that pit below you is secure as possible, jump down into it. Remember to jump onto a Wraith or a crate so you won't hurt yourself down here. Down in this pit, kill off any remaining enemies, using the pillars, crates, and a Wraith as protection. Now you got two options: 1. If you have surviving marines from the first area of this ship, they will be in a different room. To get to this room, there will be a NAV point leading to a control panel. Activate this panel to open the control panel, and the marines will come out to help you. 2. If all 5 of your marines were dead, there won't be any NAV point right now, so just read on. Either way, having marines or not, Covenant enemies will come out from all of the doors, and the enemies will have Jackals, Grunts, and Elites. Use the crates and pillars down here for protection to kill off all of the enemies. When all of the enemies here are dead for good, a door will unlock, and you can follow the NAV point to lead you to that door. Walk up to this door and enter it. In this hallway, head down the ramp in front of you. At the bottom of the ramp, head left and follow this long hallway until you get to a set of Jackals. Melee attack them to kill them and then keep following this hallway until you get to an Elite and a few Grunts. If you have a Plasma Rifle, you can take down the Elite by just consistently firing at it. Now kill off the Grunts and continue to follow this hallway to a door. When you get to it, enter it and you'll be in the most annoying part of this level: the shuttle bay. As soon as you enter, a Covenant dropship will leave this area. If you have no marines on you, Cortana will signal in Echo 419 to approach the shuttle bay with more marines. Now the hard part is this. This area is huge, and the Covenant can attack you from any direction: left right, up, down, and behind you as well. The first thing to do is take out the groups of Grunts. Now go for the Elites in this area. The next thing you should do is take out the Jackals and the Elites on the higher floors. The best weapon to use against these Elites and Jackals are the Plasma Rifle and Pistol. Whenever you shields are drained, step back into the room that you used to enter this shuttle bay and wait for the shields to recharge. You may have to do this a lot when taking out the enemies on the higher levels. To top that, Grunts, Elites, and Jackals will come out of locked doors on the level you are currently on, so this can make it more difficult. If your health drops to minimal, there is a Health Pack in the middle of the room, so use this whenever needed. And if you really need it, there is an over shield at the other end of this room. You can use it now or later, but I personally prefer to use it at the end, but if you need 2 extra layers of shields for the time being, feel free to use it now. There will also be more enemies coming from all directions, so do your best to kill them. After a long while of fighting, if you have marines, one of them will ask which way to go. If not, Cortana will just say she is going to hack into the Covenant battle net and unlock one of the doors. If you have good hearing, then you may hear her mumble "I'd like to see you hack a 128,000 bit Covenant code". But a few seconds after she says that, two Hunters will come out from one of the doors. If you have any marines alive, use them to distract the Hunters to kill them easily from behind their back. Otherwise, you'll need to fight them off yourself. Use the pillars and crates as protection for this battle. Dodge their attacks by jumping and backing up. When they try to melee attack you, run past them and attack their back with an Assault Rifle. Also, just remember to keep your eye on the other Hunter as well. Once one Hunter is down, use the same strategies to go after the other one. A few seconds after both of them die, the door to get out of here will be unlocked. If you don't know where it is, follow the NAV point to the unlocked door. Now for the rest of the Truth and Reconciliation which lies ahead of us. Now enter the unlocked door. In this room, head through the opening to your right. There will be two ramps in front of you. Head up both of them. At the top, kill the Grunts and then go through the opening to your left. In here, kill the Grunts and Elites and then head up the ramp to the right. At the top, kill the Grunts and find the invisible Elite around here. When you find him, kill him. Now the rest of this hallway is straightforward. Follow it until you get to a gray unlocked door, killing the Jackals, Grunts, and Elites that continue this hallway. Before you get up to the door, Cortana will signal in Echo 419 to bring in more marines if you have none on you. Now enter the door and you'll be on the second level of the shuttle bay. Use a Plasma Rifle to eliminate the Elites and Jackals that fill this area. If you have no marines, there will also be a NAV point leading to a control panel. Once all of the enemies up here are dead, head up to the control panel and activate it. One of the shuttle bay doors will open, allowing Echo 419 to come in and drop off marines (if you don't have any). Also at this time, more Covenant enemies will be coming in from all the doors. Have the marines help you kill them off, and use the crates for protection if needed. Once all of the Covenant enemies are dead in this area, face the control panel you activated. Now head left and go back on the main ledge. Now head right and you'll see a door to your left. Walk up to it, but don't enter it. Chuck a grenade into that room to take out some of the Grunts and maybe an Elite by surprise. When a few of the enemies are dead, enter the room. In this hallway, head through the opening to your right. In here, head up both ramps in front of you. At the top, kill the Jackals and Grunts and then go through the opening to your right. In here, use a Covenant weapon to take out this annoying Elite. When it is dead, head straight and go through the opening to the right. In here, kill the Grunts. The hallway you are in will be straightforward now, so follow it up to an unlocked door. When you get to it, enter it. Now you'll be on the third floor of the shuttle bay. Up here, head right and you'll see an opening across from you. It leads to nowhere, but toss a Grenade into it to take out the Grunts and possibly the Elite by surprise. Kill off the survivors and then face the opening. Head left from here and go straight all the way to the other end of this room. Over here, you may want to toss another grenade to take out the Jackals and Grunts in this area. Also be aware of what's behind you as well, because more Grunts and Elites will appear from that direction. Use the crates in this area for protection when fighting. When all of the enemies in this area are dead, head to where the Grunts and Jackals appeared. Over here is a door, so enter it and you'll be in another hallway. In here, head left and follow this hallway until you get to a door. Weird music will start playing when you walk up to it, but before you enter this door, head through the left opening. There will be dead marines across from you. Pick up the Fragmentation Grenades and the Health Back. Now walk up to the door and it will open. You'll see the Covenant control room. In this area are Elites, a Gold Elite with a plasma sword, and sleeping Grunts. DO NOT ATTACK UNLESS YOU HAVE A PLASMA PISTOL ON YOU. If you do not, backtrack to a dead Jackal or a Grunt and find one, because it's highly needed here. Whenever you have one, go back to the control room. Now fire at one of the Grunts to wake them up and alert the Elites. When the Gold Elite comes charging at you, QUICKLY charge up your Plasma Pistol and fire at it (fully charged) to drain its shields. Now switch to your alternate weapon and kill it off before it kills you or any marines that you may have on you. With the Gold Elite gone, it's almost safe to enter the control room. First get the Elites using COVENANT weapons before they take down you easily. Now finish off the Grunts and then enter the control room. Jackals may appear from the other doors, so kill them as well. Once all of the enemies here are dead, a door will unlock. Follow the NAV point to it and enter the door. If you have any surviving marines, they will stay in the control room and not follow you. Bad idea, as they die. Anyway, let's go into the hallway. In here, head down the ramp in front of you. At the bottom, go through the opening to the left. In this hallway, follow it until you get to an open door, killing the few Jackals and Grunts that are in this hallway. When you get to the opened door, go through it. In this hallway, head left and you will get to a 4-way intersection. Take the right opening, as the ones in front of you and your left lead to locked doors. There will be another 4-way intersection in front of you. Take the left opening. In here, head through the door in front of you and hey! We're in the brig! Just go to the other end of the room, hit the panel at the top of the ramp, and the Captain is free! What? He's not here! Looks like we need to keep looking until we find the brig he is in. But before you leave this room, search behind the panel for an Active Camouflage. It'll be useful when it comes to saving the Captain. Now leave this brig. Back in this hallway, go straight in this 4-way intersection, and you'll be taken to another one. Head in the left opening for this 4-way intersection. In this hallway, you will find 2 Jackals patrolling around this hallway. Melee attack them while you are cloaked. Now go to the 4-way intersection and take the opening on the right. In here, walk forward to open the door and go through it. Yay! We're in another brig! But be quiet. This place is guarded with cloaked Elites, sleeping Grunts, and an Elite with a plasma sword. If you are still cloaked, walk up to the Elite with the sword and melee attack him on his back to kill him in one hit (do it quickly before your Active Camouflage wears off). Now attack the other enemies by firing at them. If you are not cloaked, stay in the previous hallway and attack all of the enemies quickly (use a Covenant weapon for taking out the cloaked Elite). When all of the enemies are dead, look in the holding cells. 3 of them will have a marine, while the 4th one will have Captain Keyes in it. If you kill all the Covenant when you aren't cloaked, one of the marines will go "That was amazing sir! You really kicked the s..." Before he drops an s-bomb, the Captain will interrupt and tell you how to free them all. To do so, go to the control panel in the back of the room and activate it. All of the cells will be open. The Captain's cell will be to the right of the panel. You can either A) go into his cell or B) just wait a few seconds for the cut-scene to happen once you activate the control panel. ******************************************************************************* CUTSCENE As soon as the cut-scene starts, Captain Keyes will tell you that coming here was reckless and you should've known better. What an ungrateful bastard he is (and just to think you did all this for nothing). But he says thanks on his positive hand. You and the Captain will slowly walk out of his cell and he'll yell to the other soldiers to lock and load their weapons. He will also explain that he heard the Covenant talking about the ring while he was locked up. The Covenant call it "Halo". Cortana will access the Covenant battle net and they believe Halo is a weapon with vast, unimaginable power. Captain Keyes will claim it is true and state "Whoever controls Halo controls the fate of the universe." Cortana will also explain that the Covenant were looking for Halo's control room, and she also thought they were looking for a bridge of a cruiser that she damaged during the battle above the ring. Captain Keys will say that's bad news, and that they can use it to wipe out the entire human race. He gives you a new mission saying we need to beat the Covenant to Halo's Control Room before they take advantage of it. So let's get rolling. ******************************************************************************* SHUT UP AND GET BEHIND ME... SIR MISSION OBJECTIVES -Return to Shuttle Bay for Extraction Captain Keyes has now been rescued! WOO HOO! But first, the 3 marines will all have Plasma Rifles and the Captain will have a Needler. This is a very annoying part because you need to protect the Captain and make sure he survives. If he dies, then you have to go back to your last checkpoint, and this gets annoying. Now let's leave this holding cell area and surprise! Two cloaked Elites will be right there waiting for you. Blast them to bits using your Assault Rifle. Switch to a Covenant weapon and take out the Jackals behind them. Now head down the ramp in front of you and then go through the opening to your left. In this hallway, kill the Elite and all of the Grunts across from you. Now head down this hallway to a 4-way intersection. Over here, take the right opening. Across from you is the door that lead to the first holding cell. Facing this door, you'll be at a 4-way intersection. Take the left opening this time. Back in this hallway, head straight and you'll come across another 4-way intersection. Kill the Elite patrolling this hallway and then go through the opening to the left. In this hallway, head through the opening to your right. Wait until you see a Jackal patrolling this area and then fire directly at him. Grunts and a few more Jackals will come from the left and right, so kill them all off. Now head to the wall across from you and stop at it. Over here, turn left and follow this hallway until you get to the last 4-way intersection of this hallway. Once you get to it, take the right opening, as it's the only one that leads to an unlocked door. Enter this door and we'll be back in the control room. Now, where are those marines that remained here earlier? First, you'll see a few plasma swords walking around the room. Yep, this means cloaked Elites are walking around with plasma swords. Pull out your Assault Rifle and spray them both, as cloaked Elites have no shields. If you head up the ramp leading to the control panels, you will find all of your dead marines. Pick up an grenades or ammo they have dropped. When they are dead, Cortana will call Echo 419 to evacuate you, the captain, and any surviving marines off this ship. Echo 419 will not be able to help you this time, as she says that she's dealing with Covenant air patrols. So Cortana informs the Captain that air support is cut off and that we need to hold here until she can move in. One of the marines will yell "Aw man! We're trapped in here! We're screwed! We're screwed man!" The Captain tells him to stow the bellyaching and tells Cortana to get us into a Covenant dropship, which is exactly what we're going to do. A NAV point will appear on your screen showing where the shuttle bay is. Before going there, Grunts and Jackals will come out of the doors. Kill all of them and PROTECT THE CAPTAIN. This is the area he frequently dies at. Once all of the enemies are dead, face the door you used to enter this room. Facing it, turn around. The door across from you is the door you need to go through, so enter it. Back in this hallway, head straight and follow this hallway until you get to a door. Once you get to a door, enter it and you'll be back on the third floor of the ship's shuttle bay. Across from you is the panel you need to activate (your NAV point will be pointing to it). First, take out some of the Grunts, Elites, and Jackals in this area and then QUICKLY activate that panel. After a few seconds, the panel will be fully activated and the Covenant dropship will be undocked. ******************************************************************************* CUTSCENE The Covenant dropship will undock. The Captain, Master Chief, and any surviving marines will get on the dropship. Cortana wants to take some times to learn about the ship's controls, but the Captain said there's no need to, as he'll fly it himself. As soon as he starts moving the dropship, two Hunters will come out from one of the hallways. Cortana will alert the Captain of the Hunters and then they will fire their Fuel Rod guns at the ship. Both shots will miss and you'll see the Captain run both Hunters over and kill them both. Now the Captain will say "Time for a little payback" and fly this ship out of the Truth and Reconciliation. ******************************************************************************* Wow, that level was a real toughie. If you can beat it on Legendary, congratulations. --------------------------------- Level 4: The Silent Cartographer --------------------------------- -Search for the map room that will lead you to the secrets of Halo. Captain Keyes has been rescued, but we have a whole new mission ahead of us. The Covenant are searching for Halo's control room, and we need to beat them to it before they can take advantage of it. But first, we need to find the Silent Cartographer, which will show us where to find Halo's Control Room. ******************************************************************************* CUTSCENE You will notice two Pelican dropships flying straight towards the island. Yep, that's two. As they are flying, you can look around the beach and see the Grunts, Jackals, and Elites below you. Both dropships will land and your pilot, Echo 419 will yell out "TOUCHDOWN! HIT IT MARINES!" ******************************************************************************* THE SILENT CARTOGRAPHER MISSION OBJECTIVES -Clear the landing beach of hostiles When you start this level, you'll have 10 marines on you. That's right, ten marines, but you will only need two after the first part of this level. Before you attack the Covenant, switch to the Pistol, because it will be a big help here. Zoom in with your scope and take out the Grunts one by one. Since you are out in open land (with the exception of some purple crates), taking out the Elites with your Pistol shouldn't be a problem, because it can eliminate an Elite's shields in a few shots. If you run out of ammo, switch to the Assault Rifle and take out the Elite you are facing. When all of the Covenant in this area are dead, proceed straight, as we're still not done. More Jackals and Elites will appear from the sides, so use your Pistol to take them out. As soon as the last Covenant troop dies, a marine (if you have any) will call in and announce the area is secure. Echo 419 will return to the beach and drop off a Warthog. MISSION OBJECTIVES -Find the entrance to the map room Hopefully, you have AT LEAST 2 marines alive. Jump in the Warthog and have a marine jump in the passenger seat and the gunner seat. Once you have two marines in your Warthog, drive forward into the next area (the water should be on your right). You will come to an area where there's a slope across from you. Grunts, Jackals, and Elites will be patrolling these areas. They won't give you too much of a pain, but run them over if needed, but your gunner can get rid of them if they start becoming a thorn in your ass. Either way, head up the slope in this area. At the top of the slope, you will come to two more paths. The one to the right is a downward slope and the one to the left takes you to a structure. Take the left path and then you'll come to the structure. There are many Grunts, Elites, and Jackals patrolling this area. Before you do get out, run over some of the Grunts. Your gunner/passenger will take out the rest hopefully. Jackals will come up from the lower levels, so take them out as well. Now notice the structure. It has three openings leading to it. Two of them are on the sides and 1 is a front opening. Park your Warthog in front of the FRONT opening. Get out of the Warthog and head into this opening. There are a few Elites in this hallway. The reason to park your Warthog right there is that so your gunner and passenger can help take out the Elites. When all of the Elites are gone, face the Warthog and turn around. Now go to the wall across from you. MISSION OBJECTIVES -Find the Silent Cartographer Over here, head right down this hallway. While heading down the hallway, head down the ramp in front of you. Down here, head down the ramp to your left. Down here, turn left and you'll see another ramp. This leads to another area with an open door, and a few Grunts and an Elite as well. You can take out all of the Grunts and maybe even the Elite with a Fragmentation Grenade or two. Once all of the enemies are dead, the door leading to the inside will lock. Cortana will call in Captain Keyes and explain to him that the Covenant have halted their progress. Keyes will tell her to use whatever means necessary to get to Halo's Control Center. After that, Echo 419 will radio into the ground team and tell them she's going to be on the lookout for Covenant troops. A marine team will then radio in saying they're ready to roll, and then another team will radio in and say their area is secure and they don't detect any movement. Ok, enough of that. MISSION OBJECTIVES -Find the main facility security override If you are still inside the structure, go back outside and go back into the Warthog. Once you get in the Warthog, drive right (it should be facing the opening leading to the structure), and then you'll see a downward slope to your right, so head down the slope onto the lower ground. Down here, there should be a few crates across from you. Next to them is an over shield, so get out of your Warthog and pick it up. Let your gunner/passenger take out the Jackals in this area and then get back in your Warthog. Drive left (the water should be on your right, not left), and you should get to an arch-shaped opening. Head through this opening and you should see a higher slope across from you. You should also see a crashed Warthog across from you. Drive up to this Warthog and get out of it. There are dead marines around the Warthog. Pick up their ammo and the Health Pack if needed. Now turn left and you should see a platform of logs. Behind this logs should be a large group of Grunts, Jackals, and Elites. Have your gunner/passenger help take out the Covenant, and use your Pistol's score to take out the Covenant as well. Cortana will explain that there's an opening heading to the interior of this island. Jump over the logs the Covenant were hiding behind and you should see an opening across from you, so go into it. In here, there will be a hill leading up to another area. Head up this hill, killing the Grunts and Elites crowding this area. At the top of the hill, you should see a structure in the middle of this area. Two Hunters are surrounding it. Take your Pistol and use your scope to shoot their orange area on their back. If you use your Pistol, they will die in one hit. When both Hunters are dead, go up to the dead marines in this area. Pick up the Health Packs and the ammo around their dead bodies. Now go to where the Hunters died and search for the crates in this area. Next to these crates are two over shields. Pick up one of them. Alright! Now you're fully prepared for the next area! You can't get into that structure. Instead, search for an opening in the outer part of this area. When you find the new opening, go into it. In this area, kill all of the Jackals in front of you using a Pistol, and a few grenades if needed. Now head to the center of this area, where you will find more Grunts, Jackals, and Elites. Use your Pistol's scope to take out every single enemy in this area. If needed, use the rocks for protection. And if your over shield runs out, you can go back to the structure and pick up another one. Now once all of the enemies in this area are dead, find another opening in this area. When you find the opening, go through it. In this area, follow the right hand wall until you get to another structure. There will be a group of Grunts in this area, so spray them all with your Assault Rifle. Before going into the structure, head straight to the wall across from you. You should be near 3 over shields! Wow! Pick one up if needed, but...that...machine right there...the...noises...scare...the hell out of me...get me away from it. Facing that scary machine, turn around and you should see an opening. Go through it and you'll be inside the structure. In here, head through the opening to your left. In this area, head down the ramp next to you. Down here, go through the opening to your left. This room may seem empty, but Hunters at the other end of this room will come out of the openings. Take your Pistol, dodge their attacks, use the crates if needed, and shoot them in their orange spot on the back. If you use the Pistol, they die in one hit. Now go through either opening the Hunters came out of. In here, go through the hallway into you. You will find a panel in the middle of this area. Activate this panel to unlock a door. ******************************************************************************* CUTSCENE Remember that door inside one of the structures that the Covenant locked earlier in this level? Activating this panel will unlock now. Once unlocked, you'll see a Gold Elite with a Plasma Sword come on out and look around, wondering what the hell just happened. ******************************************************************************* IT'S QUIET... MISSION OBJECTIVES -Find the Silent Cartographer Alrighty, now we can go back to that structure. Exit this room and go back into the room where you battled the Hunters. As you are going down the hallway, you'll get a call from Dropship Bravo 22. They are under heavy fire and losing heavy altitude. Once you are back in the room with the Hunters, stay where you are. Look for any cloaked Elites in this room. There can be up to 5 cloaked Elites. When you find one, spray all of them with your Assault Rifle. Now head up the ramp in this room. At the top of the ramp, there will be an opening to your left and right. Take the right opening and you'll be near the over shields. Pick one up if needed. Now notice the ground below you. To get to the ground with taking minimal damage, jump onto the dirt and slide down it. You should be on the ground with minimal damage taken. Down here, use your Pistol's scope to take out the Jackals and Grunts in this area. Now head left and you will get to a crashed Pelican. Collect the ammo and health from the marines and flip over the Warthog next to the Pelican. When the Warthog is flipped, jump into it. Now drive forward (the water should be on your right) until you get back to the level's starting point. Back over here, continue to drive forward and go to where any surviving marines are standing. If you have any marines in this area, get one to become your gunner and passenger. With the water on your right, continue to drive forward into the area with the slope. Drive up the slope and you'll be near the structure again. This time, two Hunters are surrounding the structure. Get out of the Warthog and use your Pistol to kill them in one hit. Now go inside the structure. Back in here, walk through the hallway across from you until you stop at a wall. Over here, head right and you will get to a ramp, so head down it. Down here, head down the ramp to your left and then when you get to the bottom, head down the ramp that will be to your left. Remember this area? The door is now unlocked. But where did the Elite with the plasma sword go? Oh well, he must be on a bathroom break or something. Enter the open door and you will get to an area with an opening to your right and left. Take the right opening and you'll come to a balcony. ******************************************************************************* CUTSCENE The Master Chief will walk up to the balcony and look down. That is a long, long, long way down. So to see how far it is, he kicks a rock into it. Doesn't hear any sound of the rock dropping. ******************************************************************************* SHAFTED After the cut scene, turn around and go back into the hallway. Follow this hallway to another opening, and when you get to the opening, go through it. You will find an Elite operating that scary-as-hell-and-scary-noises machine. He's all alone and his back is to you. What does that mean? Walk up to him without firing your weapon and give him a nice melee attack to kill him. When the Elite is dead, it's down to you and that machine. Go to the opening in front of you. In this area, there are Grunts and Elites patrolling the room. Try to melee attack as many Grunts as you can, and then go for the Elite. Use the pillars for protection if needed. When everybody in this room are dead, search for a door in this room. When you find the door, enter it. In here, knock out both Jackals in front of you and then head down the ramp. At the bottom of the ramp is a door, so enter it. In this room, head straight and follow this path to a few dead marines. Get the health, ammo, and grenades scattered around them. Now use any path to get to the large area in the middle of this room. You will find Hunters and Jackals in this area. Kill off the Jackals and then fight the Hunters. As always, use your Pistol to kill them in one hit. When everybody here is dead, search for a ramp in the area where the dead Hunters are (it's located at one end of the middle of the room). When you find the ramp, head down it. At the bottom of the ramp, head straight and follow this hallway to another ramp. As you walk through this hallway, Echo 419 will call the marines and tell them they are being attacked by two Covenant dropships and that you need to find the Cartographer ASAP. When you get to the ramp, you'll also notice a different floor below you. Instead of going down the ramp, drop down to the floor below you. Down here, turn left and you should see two doors. The one on the left takes you to an Active Camouflage, but it's best to save it for later. Take the door to the right and enter it. In this hallway, turn left. If you take your Pistol and zoom in, you'll see a Grunt, so take him out. Now head all the way straight to the other end of this pathway until you see a ramp leading downward to your left. When you get to the ramps, head down the left ramp. At the bottom kill any of the Grunts and Elites, and then head straight and you'll see an opening to the left. Go through this opening. You'll see an opening to your right leading to the huge pit you saw in the earlier cut-scene. In this area, head down the ramp next to you. Down here, knock out the Grunts. Look for a crate too. When you find it, look around it for an over shield, and then pick it up. Now follow this pathway until you see an opening to your right. When you find the opening, go through it. In here, head straight and you'll get to a panel, but don't activate it yet. Instead, kill the Elites hiding in this hallway first. Now activate the panel, and yes, this one is the Silent Cartographer. ******************************************************************************* CUTSCENE When the Silent Cartographer is activated, that blue circle will separate itself and become a bigger circle. Cortana will say that the location of Halo's Control Room is in a temple or a shrine, and she considers it an unusual place to put such a control room. ******************************************************************************* MISSION OBJECTIVES -Return to the surface for extraction. Cortana will try to contact Captain Keyes and inform him that they have found the Cartographer. But Echo 419 will come in and say that he has dropped out of contact and will say he is having equipment problems or his ship is out of range. Yep, the Captain is up to no good once again. Believe me. Cortana will tell Echo 419 to keep trying until the Captain comes in reach. With that done, leave this area the same way you entered. Back up here, head up the ramp to your left. At the top, go through the opening to your left. In this room, head left and then right. In here, head up the ramp across from you. At the top, turn right and go all the way straight to the other end of this pathway. Over here, turn right and you'll see a ramp. During this part of the game, a very cool rock version of the Halo theme song will be played. Kill the 3 Jackals on the ramp and then head up it. At the top, enter the door in front of you. Back in this room, use the scope on your Pistol to knock out any distant Jackals in this room. Now facing the door, open the door to the left of this door. In this room, pick up the Active Camouflage and then leave this room. Back in here, head all the way straight to the other end of this room. Over here, head up the ramp to your left. At the top of the ramp, head straight and follow this hallway until you get to a bigger area with a ramp. Instead of going down the ramp, just go through the opening in this area. When an Elite has your back to you, melee attack them to kill them while you are invisible. Take out the Grunts and continue to follow this hallway to a ramp. When you get to the ramp, head up it. At the top, follow this hallway until you get to a ramp. At the base of the ramp are Jackals. Knock them out and then head up the ramp. At the top, head straight and you'll be in the same area where the dead Hunters were. In this room, look for an opening to your left. When you find the opening, go into it and you'll be in a hallway. Kill the Jackals near you and then turn right and follow this hallway until you get to the dead marines. Get any health or ammo that you need and then continue to follow this hallway until you get to a door. Grunts and Elites are guarding the door, so kill them before entering it. Now enter the door. In this room, kill all of the Grunts and Jackals on the higher levels. When they are all dead, go through the opening to your right. Kill the Elite and the Jackal in this area and then go through the opening in this room. Now take my advice: you better have a couple of Plasma Grenades before going through this hallway. Follow this hallway until you see an opening to your right. When you find it, DO NOT GO THROUGH IT. There is a Gold Elite with a Plasma Sword. You will be right in front of him, so throw a Plasma Grenade right at his body, as he has no space to dodge it. It will explode and kill him easily. If not, try again. Now go into the opening. Back in this room, head up the ramp in front of you. At the top, head up the ramp to your right. At the top of this ramp, turn left. Cortana will call in Echo 419 for extraction, but while you are waiting for her, you'll notice a Covenant dropship across from you. It is dropping off a couple of cloaked Elites to keep you busy. Spray all of them with your Assault Rifle. When they are all dead, head outside. Your Pelican should already be here. Wait for it to drop, enter it, and you have completed the level. ******************************************************************************* CUTSCENE The dropship will take off and Cortana will give Echo 419 the coordinates to Halo's Control Room. She will say they are underground and then fly into the top of the building. She will then tell Cortana that she hopes her analysis is correct while entering the building. Then you will be into the next level. ******************************************************************************* ------------------------------------- Level 5: Assault on the Control Room ------------------------------------- -Defend the Control Room against wave after wave of Covenant troops. The Silent Cartographer has been located and now we are on the hunt for Halo's Control Room. But the Covenant are right on your feet too. You will have to face A LOT of Covenant troops here. This level is extremely hard on Legendary. Remember, if you ever get lost inside the buildings, always use the white arrows, as they will point you to the way you need to go. ******************************************************************************* CUTSCENE You will see a room of Grunts. Some are sleeping and you'll see one walking around. He will smell something and then the Pelican you are in will appear right in front of his face. He will scream like a girl and run into the next room. Echo 419 will tell you this is as far as she can go, but Cortana says we can get into the Control Room from here. ******************************************************************************* I WOULD HAVE BEEN YOUR DADDY... MISSION OBJECTIVES -Reach the transition to the second chasm The Grunts you saw in the first cut scene of the level have retreated to go and get Elites to come after you. There are two good ways of getting rid of the Elites and Grunts. When the door opens, toss a grenade into the open door hallway. This can take out the Grunts and maybe drain the Shields of the Elite. If you are not a good user with grenades, you can get into one of the stationary guns in this room and wipe everybody out easily. Either way works fine, but when everybody is dead, enter the door the Grunts and Elites came out of. You will be in a hallway. Follow this hallway to a door. When you get to a door, enter it and you will be in a larger room. You'll see an Elite patrolling the area. Melee attack his back if you can, but otherwise, spray him with your Assault Rifle. After that, Grunts will attack you from both sides of the room. You can easily kill them all. When they are all dead, go to the middle of the room and you'll find another Elite. You can kill this one easily using protection if needed. When all Covenant in this area are dead, follow either pathway in this room to a door. When you get to the door, kill the Grunts and Jackals around the door. When all of them are dead, enter the door. In here, follow this hallway to a door and then open the door when you get to it. You will be outside and look! It's snowing outside! Cortana will find out the weather is natural, not artificial and wonder if Halo's environment is malfunctioning. Fire Team Zulu will come in and drop off marines on the ground below you. While they are fighting, use your melee attack to kill all of the sleeping Grunts on this bridge. Now music will start playing. This was my dog's favorite music. Every time he heard this song, he would wag is tail, bark, cry, go psycho, and many other things. There are also more Grunts, Jackals, and Elites on this bridge. If needed, use the stationary guns to take out close up enemies. As you kill more and more Covenant enemies, keep advancing forward to the other side of this bridge. There is also a bridge right below this one. It has Grunts in it, but take them out if you want to. Keep fighting all of the enemies until you get to the other side. Use the platforms here as protection if needed. When you get to the other side of this bridge, a door will open. A Gold Elite with a Plasma Sword will come out and get you. To fight this Elite, I'd recommend getting in the stationary gun or you can go on the bridge on the lower level. If you decide to fight him on the lower bridge, use your Pistol first. Attack him from a safe distance. When you run out of Pistol ammo when fighting this Elite, QUICKLY switch to your Assault Rifle. It should be fully loaded, so spray him until his shields are gone. From there, you can kill him easily using melee attack or leftover ammo. When the Elite is dead, go back to the higher bridge. Enter the door the Elite came out of and you'll be in another hallway. Follow this hallway to a door, and when you get to it, enter the door. In this room, you'll find a blocked off path to your right. Take the left path and follow it until you get to a dead marine. Kill the Grunts and then get the cloaked Elites if you find one. Now go to the dead marine when you find him. Pick up the Assault Rifle ammo, because chances are you're almost out of ammo by now. Take the health and grenades too. Now continue to follow this pathway until you see an opening to your left. When you find the opening, go through it. In this room, head down the slope into another room. Down here, there is a door at the other end of this room, so enter the door. In here, follow the hallway to another door and then enter the door. You'll be on a lift. Activate the lift and it will go down. When the lift gets to the bottom, enter the door. Follow this hallway to another door and then open it. In this room, there are sleeping Grunts around you. Kill them all with melee attacks and then head into the next room. Head right and follow this pathway until you see a door to your right. Kill the Elites, Grunts, and Jackals as you head along this pathway, using anything as protection. Once they're all dead, continue to follow the pathway until you see a door to your right. When you see the door, enter it and you'll be in another hallway. Follow this hallway to a door and then open it. You will now be outside again in a large area. A Grunt in a stationary gun will be to your left. Kill it before doing anything else. To the right of the big area are Grunts, Elites, and Jackals, and to the left are marines in combat. Head over to where the marines are. There is a Warthog near the marines. If it is flipped, flip it over. Before heading into it, swap out one of your weapons for the Rocket Launcher nearby. Now head to where the Covenant are and you'll see a huge tank called a Wraith. There are Ghosts near the Wraith, but leave them there. Pump a few rockets into the Wraith and destroy it before it causes any other trouble in this area. Now when the Wraith is destroyed, kill some of the Grunts and Jackals around you so they won't annoy you in the Warthog. When you have killed enough, go back to the Warthog. Get any ammo from the dead marines and then pick up the health as well. Also, swap out your Rocket Launcher for the Sniper Rifle that is near the Warthog, because you'll need it much later. While in the Warthog, try to get any surviving marines as your gunner and a passenger if possible. Now drive to where the Wraith is. Ahead of you is a slope and another pathway. Ignore the slope and follow the pathway to a pit. Drive into the pit and you'll be on lower ground. Down here, drive right and you'll find a Scorpion! Get out of your Warthog and get into the driver's seat of the Scorpion. If there are any marines in this area, try to get them as your passengers (you can have up to 4). While in the scorpion, remember that the left button fires a missile and the right one is a machine gun. Now you should notice a pathway made up of ice. Follow this pathway into the next area, rolling over the Grunts and Elites that lie in your path. In the next area, there will be a Wraith, a couple of Elites driving Ghosts, and a few Grunts in stationary guns. First thing's first: take out the Wraith with 2 easily missile shots of your scorpion. Just don't get too close to the Wraith or you may get killed. Your second priority should be the Ghosts. The Ghosts will go down easily. Take down 1 with your missile, and then the machine gun and get rid of another quickly while your missile is recharging. After all of the Ghosts are gone, get rid of the stationary guns before they take out your marines. You should use your missiles on these. Now go for any Grunts or Jackals that are on the ground. When everybody in this area are dead, search for an entrance leading into the building. Drive in front of this entrance. You should notice two Hunters below you. A well timed and accurate missile should destroy them both, but make sure you kill them quickly before their fuel rod guns take out you and your marines. Once both Hunters are dead, go through the entrance and head down the slope. At the bottom of the slope, turn left and you will see a big locked door. Get out of the Scorpion and search for a panel near the door. Activate the panel and the door will open completely. Now get back in your scorpion and go through the opened door. This hallway is straightforward. Just drive your scorpion until you get to another opening. When you get to the opening, go through it and you'll be in a much bigger area. Two Elites are patrolling the front of the room and they are right in front of you. Take them both out with your Scorpion. You'll also notice two bridges in this room. The one on the right is destroyed and the one on the left takes you to the other end of this room. Before crossing the bridge, take out the Grunt in the stationary gun on the right bridge. There is also a stationary gun next to the left bridge, so take that one out too. On the left bridge, you'll find Grunts and Jackals. I'd use both your missile and machine gun to take them all out. Once the bridge is clear, get out of your scorpion and head to the other side of the bridge. There are Elites and Hunters at the other end of this bridge. The Hunters can be annoying if you are bad at dodging their fuel rod gun attacks. Use your scope on your Pistol or Sniper Rifle to take out the Elites. If you don't have either of those, take a Covenant weapon lying around in this room and take out the Elites quickly. Now if you have a Pistol, run up to the Hunters and shoot their orange spot in the back to kill them. Otherwise, you'll have to use whatever you have to take them out. There is also one more stationary gun at the other end of this room. Also kill the Grunt sitting in that. Use the crates and the sides of the bridge as protection when fighting. Once everybody in this room is dead, get back in your scorpion. Cross the bridge using your scorpion and you'll be on the other side of this room. Over here, get to the other end of this room. There is a locked door on the wall across from you. Get out of the scorpion, and look for a panel next to the door. Activate this panel to open the door, get back in your scorpion, and drive through this hallway until you get to an area full of Elites and Ghosts. ROLLING THUNDER Get out of your scorpion, as it becomes useless from now on. Take out the Grunts and the Elites before the Elites get into one of the two Ghosts. Jump into one of the Ghosts and head left up a slope. MISSION OBJECTIVES -Reach the transition to the third chasm Take out the Jackals one by one on the slope using the weapon on your Ghost, because the Jackals can damage your Ghost for the next part. At the top of the slope, a Covenant dropship is dropping off Elites and Grunts. There may be Elites in their own Ghosts, so take them out first. Then go for the Grunts because they can annoy the hell out of you if they get a Plasma Grenade onto your Ghost. Now take out the Elites, using the tress and rocks as protection if needed. If your current Ghost is in bad shape, look for another one in this area that has better health. With the slope to your back, you'll see two paths to take. Take the right path, as it leads you to the next area quicker. If you notice closely on the wall to your right, there is a dead marine. Pick up the ammo and grenades if needed. At this time, your Pistol should almost be empty, if not empty. Look for a Plasma Rifle or a Plasma Pistol in this area and swap out, because a Covenant weapon will be useful for the rest of the level. Get back in your Ghost. Near the dead marine is a slope leading to a stationary gun. Ignore it, go past the slope, and head into the next big area. There is a huge pond of ice, a Wraith, a few Elites in Ghosts, and behind the Wraith is an opening. Coming out of the opening will be Hunters. Since you are in a Ghost, just glide past the Wraith and into the opening. If you don't waste any time, the Hunters should not be a problem. In this opening, follow this passage into the next area. In this area, take out the Grunts and the Elites using your Ghosts. If you turn right, you will notice a downward slope and a big pit below you. Across from you is a Grunt in a stationary gun. Use your Ghost and fire as accurate as you can to take him out before he gets annoying. Cortana will say that there are marine in the lower pit. Get out of your Ghost and head down the slope. At the bottom of the slope, head left and you will find the marines. A Covenant dropship is going to come over you and drop off enemies at the higher level you were just on. The marines will fight them off for a while, but you have a bigger issue to deal with. Follow this ice pathway to a pair of Hunters. Since you got no Pistol on you, you'll have to use your Assault Rifle. Dodge their attacks, jump/duck if needed, and shoot all you can into the Hunter. But while you're fighting, the marine who has a Sniper Rifle can be a big help here. He can snipe out both Hunters if lucky, giving you less work. Otherwise, you'll need to take them out yourself. When both Hunters are dead, continue to follow this pathway to an Active Camouflage. Pick it up and then turn right. You see a few pillars in front of this opening. Go through this opening and you'll be in a tunnel. There is a camouflaged Elite with a plasma sword here. Spray him with your Assault Rifle and he'll go down easily. Now go through the opening in front of you. Out in this area, head straight and you'll come to a hill leading to the next area. Get in front of it and turn around. You'll see a Grunt in a stationary gun on the higher platform. Use whatever means necessary to take it out, because it can take out you and your marines. Now head up the hills into the higher area, but be careful because you may find yourself getting killed in this area a lot. Up here, use your Plasma Pistol/Rifle to take out the many Grunts in front of you. There also will be a Banshee flying around this area. Use an Assault Rifle to take that out, using the rocks and trees as protection. Next thing to go after is the Elite. Protecting yourself, spray it with a Plasma Rifle and it'll go down quickly. There are also stationary guns scattered in this big area. Try to kill the Grunts in them, because these will kill you if you don't. Now, when this area is secure, put your back against the lower ground you were in earlier. Turn right and you should see another area with a door. Kill the two Grunts that are in the stationary guns near the door. Now walk up to the door and two Elites will come out. You can fight them with a Covenant weapon or get rid of them quickly using one of the stationary guns. Use whatever works with you and then enter the door. You'll be in another straightforward hallway. Follow this hallway to a door. When you get to the door, enter it. In this room, you will find many Grunts sleeping. Without firing your weapon, kill as many Grunts as you can with your melee attack. In the middle of the room, you will find Elites patrolling the room. Melee attack them if you can, but if they notice you, fight them. Any sleeping Grunts will wake up from the gunfire and go to attack you. Use the Covenant weapons to take out the Elites, and use anything as protection if needed. Kill all of the Grunts afterwards. When everybody in this room are dead, go back to the door you used to enter this room. With the door to your back, head left and follow this pathway until you see an opening to your left leading to the next area. Once you find the opening, go through it. In this room, enter the door across from you and you'll be in a short hallway. Follow this hallway to another door and then enter it. Now you'll be on a lift. Activate the lift to get up to the higher floor. Up here, melee attack the Jackal to kill it and then enter the door next to you. Follow this hallway to another door and then enter it. You will be in a room with dead marines. Get the ammo, grenades, and *GASP* HEALTH! Haven't seen one of these health packs in a while, but you'll be likely at minimal health right now. Now melee attack the Jackals in this room to kill them. You'll also notice a slope leading upward. At the top of the slope are Grunts and Jackals. Toss a grenade to the top to wipe them out. After a few have died, head up to the slope. At the top of the slope, kill any remaining Grunts and Jackals. Now head right and follow this pathway until you see an opening to your left, leading into the middle of this room. Head into it and an Elite may attack you. Back up into the previous room and use your Plasma Rifle/Pistol to kill the Elite. Duck and use any other platforms if needed for protection. There is also a Gold Elite in this area (with no sword). Since this is a Gold Elite, getting rid of its shields will be difficult. If needed, go back to one of the dead Jackals and pick up a Plasma Pistol. Use one charged shot to drain its shields and then finish it off with your Assault Rifle. When this Elite is dead, go back to the middle of the room. Back in here, kill off the remaining Elite and then head through the opening across from you. In this part of the hallway, kill the Grunts and Jackals surrounding you. Now open the door in this area and you'll be in another hallway. Follow this hallway to another door and then open this door when you get to it. You'll be on the first of what I call the twin bridges. There will be several sleeping Grunts scattered around the first part of this bridge. As always, melee attack sleeping Grunts to kill them in one hit. When all of the sleeping Grunts are dead, advance forward to the bridge. Take out the Jackals in front of you and continue forward. Now you will see Elites across from you. Using a Plasma Pistol/Rifle, stand behind one of the platforms and attack them. The Elites will have Needlers, so you'll need to duck behind these walls every time they fire. Keep firing Plasma ammo into them until they are killed. Another thing to watch out on this bridge are the Grunts on the bridge to you right. If they start annoying you, kill the ones attacking you so you won't have to deal with them on this bridge. Once the upcoming Elites and Jackals are dead, continue forward on this bridge until you get to the next set of Grunts and Jackals. These enemies won't be annoying, but if they get in a group, you can toss a Fragmentation Grenade to get rid of them easily, otherwise you can just spray them with an Assault Rifle to kill them. When these sets of enemies are dead, continue forward to the end of this bridge. There is a door at the end of this bridge. A group of Grunts and a cloaked Elite will come out of the door. Get the Grunts first and then wipe out the Elites once you find him. Now enter the door and you'll be in the next hallway. Follow this hallway to a door and then enter it. There are two Elites in this room, and they aren't too close to each other. Follow the pathway to the left until you do get to an Elite patrolling this room. Make short work of this Elite because it shouldn't be too much of another problem. If you find the second Elite, make short work of this one. Now continue to follow this pathway until you get to a dead marine. Near him is a Health Pack and a Rocket Launcher. Pick up the Health Pack and let the Rocket Launcher be. Now continue to follow this pathway until you see an opening to the left. Once you find the opening, go through it. In here, head right into a slightly bigger hallway. There is an alcove to your left, with Grunts and Jackals hiding in them. Wipe them out with your Assault Rifle or a few grenades, but they shouldn't be too much of a problem. When everybody in this area are dead, continue to follow this hall into the next and bigger room. An Elite may be patrolling in front of you. Kill it before the other Grunts, Jackals, and Elites start coming at you. Now head to the middle of the room. There is a slope leading upward, and there ate Grunts and Elites up there. You can take them by surprise and toss a grenade to the top of the slope. It can kill the Grunts and maybe the Elites. Kill any leftover enemies up there, but be on the safe side and don't go up the slope. Now go back to the opening you used to enter this room. Back over here, follow either pathway to the other end of this room. Over here are a large group of Grunts and Jackals. Use grenades and a Plasma Pistol/Rifle to kill them all, but these enemies may get on your nerves. Once all of these enemies are dead, head into the door next to you. Follow this hallway to a door and then enter it. Now you'll be on the second of the twin bridges, but there are a few changes: Hunters are now on the other bridge to your right, so you'll either need to dodge their fuel rod gun attacks very quickly, or if you really need to, go back on the other bridge and eliminate them. I personally think this bridge is easier than the first one if it wasn't for the Hunters. The dead Grunts you may have killed earlier are still there, and there are less enemies too. Continue forward until you get to the Grunts and Elites. Attack the Grunts from the safe distance and when you have killed enough of them, head forward and take out the Elites using Covenant weapons and ducking behind the walls if needed. Now when the Elites are dead, continue forward to the end of the bridge. You will find Jackals, so you can get rid of these. Once everybody in this area are dead, open the door at the end of the bridge and you will be in the next hallway. Follow this hallway to a door and then enter it. In this room, kill the two patrolling Jackals to your left. Now follow the right pathway until you get to a set of more Grunts and Jackals. Wipe them out with any weapon and grenades if needed. Now continue to follow this pathway until you see an opening to your right. When you see the opening, go through it. In this opening, head down the slope in front of you. At the bottom, head into the opening across from you. Follow this hallway into a slightly bigger area. You may spot a cloaked Elite with a plasma sword in front of you. Quickly spray it with an Assault Rifle to kill it, and then go into the alcove to your left. There is another cloaked Elite in this area; kill it once you spot it. Now notice the walls sticking out. Behind one of them is an Active Camouflage, so pick it up, as it will be highly useful for the next area. Now get out of this alcove and continue to follow the hallway into the next room. In here, head up the ramp across from you. At the top of the ramp, follow the right pathway until you see a door to your right. There are Hunters in the middle of the room, but ignore them since you're invisible. Once you find the door, enter it. In this hallway, turn left and toss a grenade and kill all of the Jackals and Grunts. Now follow this hallway to the next area and enter the door. IF I HAD A SUPER WEAPON... This is where you need to be quick. There are two Banshees across from you and many Grunts, Elites, and Jackals on this bridge. Don't bother fighting, as it just wastes time. Just first and RUN FORWARD TO THE BANSHEES. If you're too slow, Elites will jump into the Banshee and you'll have to go to your last checkpoint and try again. Don't worry, this may take you several times. But once you get into the Banshee, fly left to the pyramid structure. Keep flying straight and get to the top floor. There should be many stationary guns and a locked door in front of you. Get out of the Banshee, get in front of the door, and open it by activating the panel to the right. The door will open and more action will start, with Grunts, Elites, and a Gold Elite with a plasma sword. Get to one of the stationary guns and BLAST THE HELL OUT OF THE GOLD ELITE BEFORE IT KILLS YOU. Once the Elite is gone, take out the Grunts in this stationary gun. When you have killed enough of the Grunts, get out of the stationary gun and head into the opened door. In this large room, kill any of the remaining Grunts. Now kill off the Elites in the back of the room using a Covenant weapon. Once this whole room is free of Covenant enemies, follow this hallway to another locked door. Use the panel next to it to open it and then enter the locked door. In this hallway, get to the door across from you. Walk up to it and it will open, and then enter the door to finish the level. You will now be in Halo's Control Room. ******************************************************************************* CUTSCENE After the door has been opened, the Master Chief will slowly walk into Halo's Control Room. He will walk up to the control panel and insert Cortana into the panel. Her hologram will appear and she will say that she's never been better. She's saying that she's gaining so much knowledge so fast. Master Chief wants to stay focused and find out what Halo is used for. Cortana will call him a barbarian and say it was built by the forerunners and then lose her stuff. Seconds later, she will found out the Covenant have gotten to something. The Covenant have found something buried in this ring and now they are afraid. When the Master Chief tries to ask, Cortana will immediately tell him that he has to stop the Captain (see, I told you he's up to no good once again). The weapons cache he was looking for is not what it is, as it seems. Cortana will tell you to get out of here, find Keyes, and stop him -- before it's too late. At this time, her eyes will look pretty scary. Notice how she's still in the control room and the Master Chief just runs out. ******************************************************************************* -------------------------- Level 6: 343 Guilty Spark -------------------------- -Creep through a swamp to meet the only enemy the Covenant fear. Halo's control room has been located, but once again, Captain Keyes just HAS TO mess our plans. As said in the previous cut-scene, he is looking for a weapons cache, but it isn't what it really is. We need to find him and stop him. In this level, you will meet someone new. ******************************************************************************* CUTSCENE At the beginning of the level, you will find yourself starting out in a swamp and it's raining out too. You will also notice Grunts and Jackals running around. And it's not because of the rain either -- they have found something buried in Halo and are afraid. You will also notice your Pelican coming in and saying "The last transmission from the Captain's dropship was from this area. That was over 12 hours ago". That most likely means something fishy is going on with Keyes here. And you will be by yourself with no marines. ******************************************************************************* !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IMPORTANT I must say, that this level is probably one of the scariest moments you will ever counter in a video game, hell, even your life. I am warning you for ahead of time. If you are someone who gets scared real easily or for other reasons, DO NOT PLAY THIS LEVEL. At best, have someone be with you when playing this level. I still get the crap scared out of me from this level. I also have the book Halo: The Flood, and I got just as scared when I was reading this level in the book. Even my first time playing, I got pretty scared. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WELL ENOUGH ALONE MISSION OBJECTIVES -Locate Captain Keyes As noted, Cortana will not be here with you this level. She is still dozing off in Halo's Control Room, so you won't have her to help you out. Another thing to note in this level are that there are ABSOLUTELY NO ELITES. As soon as this level starts, turn slightly to the left and you should see a crashed Pelican across from you. Head forward and walk up to the Pelican. You will find many scattered clips for your Assault Rifle and Shotgun Shells. These are useless unless you are playing on Easy. There are also Health Packs and notice that the Pelican is EMPTY. The first of many fishy parts of this level. But if you wait for your Pelican that dropped you off to go out of sight, stay near the crashed Pelican. You will hear a radio of how they met a "new" kind of Covenant and Captain Keyes has been captured. This is not good. Continue to proceed forward to another empty area, and then more creepy music will start playing. Walk across the water and then head straight. You will find dead Grunts and Jackals, which is pretty odd. No blood surrounding their dead bodies either; this is really strange. Continue follow this path and you'll also notice a Covenant dropship to your left and it has crashed. Kill the Jackals and Grunts in this area using the scope of your Pistol or a Shotgun on Easy. Head past the Covenant dropship into the next area. Rocks, plants, and a huge tree stump make up this area. There are also more Grunts and Jackals in this area. Stay at a far distance and take them out using the scope on your Pistol. When everybody in this area are dead, head straight to the tree stump. Jump onto it and walk forward on the tree stump. You will see another tree stump forming a bridge to the area across from you. Below you is another part of this level, and chances are you'll hear that radio near the Pelican. Cross this bridge and get to the other end across from you. Head up the small and turn to your right. You will notice big yellow flashing lights. If you look closely, you will see Grunts and Jackals running out of the building and you will also notice gunshots out of Assault Rifles firing at them. Marines (even though you will never see them) are trying to run into the building. Run right down the hill and get to the bottom, where there will be a structure next to you. If the Grunts and Jackals seriously give you problems, my best bet is to get into one of the stationary guns and take them out one by one. Either way, just get inside that building. Walk forward and get to the middle of this area. There will be a gap, but a lift will rise up to the top. Looks like somebody has just used this lift. Get on the lift and activate the panel to make it go down. Down in this area, search for two openings leading into the same room. Without getting directly in front of the opening, toss a Fragmentation Grenade into it. It will bounce off the wall and kill of most, if not all Grunts and Jackals. Kill off any surviving Grunts and Jackals and head through either opening. Oh no...not that machine again...the noises scare the hell out of me! Run away from that blasted thing and head into the door next to you. Did you also notice the great number of Grunts and Jackals guarding one door? In this room, take out the Jackals to your left and right. But that crazy machine again! Ah! There is a lower level below you. If you notice on the wall to the right, you'll see ANOTHER group of Grunts and Jackals guarding one door. Toss a grenade down there to eliminate them. Fall down into the pit and kill the surviving enemies. Now head into the door they were guarding. In this hallway, kill any Grunts and take either pathway to the door at the other side of this room. Open this door. In here, turn left and you will see MORE JACKALS guarding a single door. Toss a grenade if you can, but otherwise go forward and take them out with your Pistol. Use the pillars if needed for protection. Now when they are all dead, head into the door they were guarding, and you'll be in another square hallway, but notice the walls. Covenant blood EVERYWHERE. No dead bodies to show this either. What the hell is going on here? Guess what else is in this hallway? Two openings blocked off by crates. If you look over the crates, you'll notice large groups of dead Grunts and Jackals. Who in the world blocked off these rooms? More blood on the walls. Now follow either pathway to the door at the other side of this room and then enter the door. In this room, you will notice two stationary guns to your right. But nobody is in this room? More blood if you look around, and all but one door is locked. To get to that door, jump onto the platform. On here, there will be another psycho machine next to the door! Below this platform are also 3 Needlers. How did these get here? Anyhow, enter the door and you'll be in another square hallway. Follow either pathway in this hallway to another door. When you get to the door, enter it. As soon as you enter this door, you'll be greeted with a nice little surprise. A psycho marine will be laying on the wall in front of you with a Pistol. He will be yelling at you to stay back and start firing his Pistol. His only usefulness is the clip he has in his Pistol. Before you kill him, listen to what he is saying, because you'll want to know it for later on in this level. But for all in all, just melee attack him and take his Pistol ammo. Now go to the other side of the room. You will notice more dead Grunts on the floor. There are also Plasma Pistols and a Plasma Rifle scattered on the floor, but leave them be. Head into the corner of this room. You'll notice that the platforms have collapsed and a fire is beneath the platform. Use the collapsed platform to get onto the higher platform above you. Up here, head up the ramp next to you. Now notice the wall across from you and you'll see a door. Enter this door. In this square hallway, take either pathway to get to the door on the other side of this room once again. Enter the door and you'll be in a large room you were previously in. Below you are the stationary guns and everything else. To get to the other side of this room, activate the panel near the gap. This will activate a blue bridge. Cross this bridge to the other side of the room. And just to your right is another Covenant machine. Just get that thing away from me. In front of you is a door that is broken open. Go through this opening. In here, follow either pathway to a ramp. When you get to the ramp, head down the ramp. At the bottom, there will be an opening next to you. This will be the scariest part of the whole game. Before entering this opening, get a little recap of this level. Let's start from the beginning of the level: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1. A crashed Pelican with plenty of ammo and health, but no marines. A radio is also remaining there telling about Captain Keyes and such. 2. Moments after that, you got to a Covenant dropship crashed into the area, yet the Grunts and Jackals still have survived. 3. Throughout the level, you have seen many dead Grunts and Jackals on the ground. Most of the dead bodies had no blood surrounding them. 4. As you approached the structure, you saw weapons firing at the Grunts and Jackals and they disappear all of a sudden. Inside the structure, the lift comes up for you. 5. In the early parts of the structure, you noticed way too many Grunts and Jackals guarding one door. This has been true for 3 doors. 6. There was blood, blood everywhere on the walls in those short hallways. And guess what? No dead Covenant enemies surrounding the blood either. There have also been small rooms of dead Grunts. 7. That psycho marine telling you about that "They're everywhere". Too psycho that he is shooting you with a Pistol. 8. After the marine, the next few rooms have been absolutely empty. No Covenant, most of them clean with no bloody, and so on. Something is going on here. 9. Have you notice there are literally NO ELITES IN THIS LEVEL? That's right. Maybe the Covenant are too scared to put their own Elites into this part of Halo. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are 9 things recapped for you about this level. Number 10 takes the cake. Be warned however, this is an extremely scary cut-scene. You may skip it if you wish. Head into the opening and walk up to the unlocked door and the cut-scene will start. ******************************************************************************* CUTSCENE As the Master Chief approaches the door, he will start to hear weird sounds. He'll quickly turn around and see the halls are still empty. He will approach the door, insert a code to unlock it, and as it opens, a dead marine will fall right into his arms. Holding the marine, he enters the room, drops the marine, and goes to the lone helmet on the ground. He will read "PVT Jenkins" on it, so this is Jenkins' dead body. He takes the combat video out of the helmet and puts it into the back of his helmet. Be prepared to watch a nice little video. The video starts out with a nice little rock 'n' roll tune, which SGT. Johnson is playing. One of the marines will complain of why they are listening to old stuff. Johnson just tells them this stuff is their history and should remind them what they're fighting to protect. After that, the pilot will tell them the ground looks clear and they're bringing it down. Everybody gets out of the Pelican. Could this be the crashed Pelican at the beginning of the level? Master Chief will fast forward the video. The marines will be in front of the structure you just entered. Johnson will tell the marines to "Wait for the Captain and his squad" and then Keyes will interrupt and go "And get your ass in there". They all head into the building. Master Chief will fast forward it to the next scene. The group of marines will be surrounding a dead Elite. They wonder how it got killed, as its chest has been ripped open. Captain Keyes will come over and go "Real pretty. Friend of yours?". After this, the Master Chief will fast forward to the next cut-scene. The whole group will be in front of the door you just entered. One of the marines will try to unlock it, but say "The Covenant have worked pretty hard to lock it down." After opening, they go into the room you are in. After looking around the room, one of the marines will say they have a bad feeling of this. Just after that, a marine will contact Johnson and say they have lots of contact and they are not Covenant enemies. All of a sudden he fades out. One of the marines will notice a door breaking open and many of the Infection form Flood enemies coming right at them. It will kill 2 of the marines and Jenkins will not fire his weapon. You should notice the infection forms got on Johnson and Captain Keyes and Johnson. Keyes has been infected, but Johnson hasn't. All of a sudden, the video fades out as Jenkins has been KIA (killed in Action). ******************************************************************************* THE FLOOD Ok, in that cut-scene, the doors containing the flood broke open. Somehow, it's repaired now. Head all the way straight to the door at the other end of this room. Stay around this door and wait for a checkpoint. Now look around the door and wait for the sound of a door breaking open. The Flood has been released. You will find a massive group of the Flood, in infection form. Kill the blobs with the Assault Rifle and they will go down in no time. But that's not the end of them just yet. More infection forms will break out of another door. Remember to attack them with your Assault Rifle while moving backwards so you will lose a smaller amount of shields and health. More infection forms will break out, so spray every last one in this room. After you have killed enough infection forms, Combat Forms (no weapons yet), will break in from the door you used to enter this door. These will go down easily in a few Assault Rifle Shots. Try to fire at these wile backing up and jumping. After you have finally killed all of the Combat forms, get out of this room and you will finally have a new objective. MISSION OBJECTIVES -Escape!! That doesn't sound too good. The other bad news is that you can't leave this building the same way you entered it, because many of the doors will be blocked off. Back in this area, head up either ramp, grabbing the Health Packs and Assault Rifle if needed. At the top of either ramp, kill the Combat Form Floods and enter the opening in this room. Back in this room, look in the lower level below you. You will see a Covenant vs. Flood match for the first time. The Flood always wins this one in a big blowout. Never mind the Flood, because they shouldn't bother you in this area. Facing the activated bridge, turn right and face the wall in front of you. In this square hallway, follow either pathway to another door and then open it. In this big room, you'll see another door to your right. Cross the walkways and enter the door. Follow either pathway to a door and then open it. There are a group of Jackals and Grunts to the right. Toss a grenade right at them to kill them all easily. Now with your back to the door you just entered, go to where the dead Grunts and Jackals are. Enter the door next to them. In this room, turn left and you will find dead marines. Next to them are Health Packs and *GASP* SHOTGUNS!!! If you are playing on Easy, pick up the Shotguns as extra ammo, otherwise, take out your Pistol and swap it out for a Shotgun, but KEEP YOUR ASSAULT RIFLE. Now that we have a Shotgun, enter the door in this room. This probably is a power room for the building, as you can see the electric shocks in the generators. This room is empty anyway, so head to the other side of this room and turn left. You will see a door in front of you, so enter it. Go through either opening next to you and you will get to a room with a lift. Before getting on the lift, kill all the Flood enemies, both infection and combat. When everybody in this room are dead, get on the lift. Activate the panel and ride the lift down. Notice all of the walls. You're going down a lift and Covenant blood is EVERYWHERE. At the bottom of the lift, kill all of the Flood enemies in this room, both combat and infection. Before going through the opening in this room, go to the opening that is blocked off. Climb up the pile of crates blocking the opening and get the over shield at the top of the crates. It is highly needed for the next part. Now get off of the crates and go through the opening. In this room, go through the opening to your left. If you look really closely, you'll see marines running to the ground below you to fight the Flood. All of them die in one hit. What help they are. Also in this room is a bridge. But this bridge is flickering on and off and it is pretty damn hard to get across it. You can get across it by jumping, but it's difficult. Before dropping down to the floor below you, pick up an Active Camouflage in this room. They are right next to that Covenant machine which...scares...me. Now head down to the floor below you. Down here, the Flood will still probably notice you, so kill them if you can. Also search for a door that is broken open in this area. Go through the open door and you'll be in another square hallway. Follow this hallway to another door and then open it. There are Combat Form Flood enemies in this room, but since you're still invisible, ignore them. Get to the other end of the room. In the corner of this room are crates and platforms are broken down, including scary Covenant machines. To get to the platform above you, jump on the crate, jump on the higher platform, get the Health Pack, and then jump on the next higher platform. Up here, get across the platforms and get to the door in this area. There are more Combat Forms up here, but ignore them. When you get to the door, open it and you will be in a square hallway. Follow either pathway to a door and then open it. You will now be on the other side of that bridge which keeps flickering on and off. At this time your invisibility should be wearing off. Head to the other end of this room to an opened door and then go through it. Kill the Combat forms next to you before they start to get annoying. Now follow either pathway to a door and then open it and go through it. Kill the Combat Forms in front of you. All of the doors on this level are locked, so drop down to the floor below you. Down here, kill the Combat Forms and then search this room for a door that has been broken open. Go through this opening. In this hallway, follow either pathway to an opening and then go through it. You'll be in another big room. Stay in the hallway you're in and take out the Combat Forms, because they can be really annoying if you go into the room. When enough of them have been killed, go into the bigger room. In this area, get to the broken opening across from you and go through it. Now you'll be in another square hallway. Follow either pathway to the door at the other side of this hallway and enter the door. There is a higher ledge above you. To get onto this higher ledge, head right and you'll see a platform with dead marines and Jackals. Look at this ASCII map to know how to get to it. ________ | | |________| X Say the X is you. The right side of this platform is facing the door. Get in front of the right side of the platform and run up to it. Now jump and you should land on the higher platform. On here, pick up the Health Pack and the Shotgun ammo for the dead marines. Now you'll see a ramp leading to the higher platform, so jump onto this to get onto the higher platform. Up on this platform, kill any of the Combat Forms around you. Now search this higher platform for a door. When you find the door, enter it. In this square hallway, follow either pathway to a door and music will start playing. Enter this door! In front of you is a deactivated bridge. Activate the panel to the left to make the bridge appear. Before crossing it, kill all of the Combat Forms that will jump up from the lower levels. When you have killed enough Combat Forms, cross the bridge. You will see an opening in front of you. Before going through it, wait for Combat Forms to come out of the opening. Toss a fragmentation grenade right at them and it will kill many of them. Toss another one if needed, and once all of them are dead, go through the opening. In this room, go through either opening. Kill the Combat Forms in this room and then get on the lift. Activate the panel and the lift will go up. As you are going up the lift, Echo 419 will signal in and say she lost your signal when you went inside the building. She is also tracking movement all over the place. At the top of the lift, you will find a big group of marines right there, saying they thought they were lost. Before going up the ramp and out of this building, pick up the Shotgun Shells and the Health Pack. Echo 419 will signal in again and tell you there is a large tower outside. Get to it and she will pick you up. But here comes the bad part: you have to go through the swamp again and battle the Flood this time. As soon as the music starts playing, leave the building. Now, to get to the tower, you can take many paths, so take whatever you want. As you get closer and closer to the tower, the Flood will appear in greater numbers. Use your Shotgun for the whole time here, as everything else is useless. The marines that are holding Shotguns will also be a help here. Just keep going straight, NOT any other direction before you lose yourself. To use protection, duck behind the rocks, trees, and the plants. If you keep going straight, you'll eventually get to a large tower with red lights surrounding the tire. Keep shooting the at the Flood. When you get to the tower, go into one of the alcoves around the tower. Keep shooting at the Flood whenever they find you. Sooner or later, a blue light will be floating across the air. You'll also see Sentinals, but don't fire at them. They are here to help you and they will take out the Flood with laser beams. Just try to stay alive and eventually a cut- scene will happen. 343 GUILTY SPARK ******************************************************************************* CUTSCENE You will teleport right in front of that blue glowing object. He will be the installation of 04, which is Halo. Someone has released the flood, and you will teleport to the next area to grab the index and go stop the Flood. Right as you teleport, Echo 419 will call in and lose your signal and yell "Chief! Chief!" ******************************************************************************* --------------------- Level 7: The Library --------------------- -Fight your way through an ancient security facility in search of the index. We tried to locate Captain Keyes, but he has been captured again. The Flood has been released and is overspreading, and we must stop them before they spread out. So the monitor says we can go and get the Index to wipe out the Flood. ******************************************************************************* CUTSCENE The scene starts out in front of a bright light with cool sound effects playing. The index will then appear. Then the camera will guide you to the start of the level. By the way, the index isn't that close. How cheap. ******************************************************************************* THE LIBRARY MISSION OBJECTIVES -Follow the monitor to the index You will hate this level. Believe me, it is so annoying. You'll start out with a Shotgun on easy, but any other difficulty is the usual Assault Rifle and Pistol. Once you find a Shotgun, never swap it for something else. In this annoying level are all forms of Flood, the Carrier, Combat, and Infection. You'll need to jump, duck, and toss grenades to dodge the Flood, because they will be everywhere. If this is too hard, you may want to adjust your control setup as well. I did and I beat this level with fewer problems. My honest opinion is that this level starts out really hard for me and gets easier as it goes. For the second level in a row, you won't have Cortana to help and this level is completely made up of Flood enemies, with no Covenant here. Start this level by heading straight. If you ever lose yourself, just look for that blue glow in the air. Now head straight until you get to the other side of this room, but do not let your guard down. Follow the monitor into an opening. Before following the monitor, kill any combat, infection, and carrier forms that appear. Jump around and toss grenades into the groups that form. Watch out for some of the combat forms that appear. One of them by have a Shotgun, and if that's the case, kill them and swap out your Pistol with a Shotgun. When the enemies stop coming at you, go into the opening the monitor has went into and you'll be in a bigger room. Watch out for the Carrier Forms that are around you. Kill them if needed, but take them out from a far distance. With your back to the opening you came out of, head left into the next opening. If needed, kill the combat Flood forms and pick up extra ammo if needed. When you are able to, head into the opening the monitor was in front of. In this room, you need to go right, but before you head in that direction, get in front of the wall to the left. Combat and Carrier forms will start running out you. Use the pillars for protection and toss grenades if needed. You can kill the Combat forms for a Shotgun or extra Shotgun/Assault Rifle ammo. When enough is enough, get your back on the opening you came out of and head right. Keep heading straight until you see a big wall to your left. The monitor will be in front of this wall, but watch your back. When you find the monitor, walk up to the door he is in front of and he will go away for a few seconds. He is going to unlock the door, which is bad news for you. Combat and Carrier form enemies will appear. Do not stay where you are. Run around and use your strafing skills to take them out. Pick up any Assault Rifle/Shotgun ammo they drop, because you'll really need it. When enough Flood enemies have been killed, the door will have been opened, so go through it. In this room, turn right and head all the way straight until you stop at a wall. Kill the Combat and Carrier forms that appear out of the alcoves to your left, using any protection if needed. When you stop at that blue wall, turn right. Follow this hallway until you get right in front of a pit leading to lower ground. Watch out for the Combat, Carrier, and Infection forms that come out of the high alcoves. Take some time to kill these enemies and don't get frustrated if you keep getting killed. Jump around, toss grenades if you are at a long distance. When you finally stop in front of a lower pit, there should be a Health Pack next to you. Pick up this Health Pack and drop into the pit below you. At the end of this wall is an OVER SHIELD! PICK THIS UP! Finally some nice little relief! Before getting out of this pit, toss a grenade up onto the higher level, so you can knock out some of the large group of Flood enemies that are up there. Now when there are no enemies around you, head up the ramp back onto the higher level. Back up here, turn left and you will see pillars spaced out. Walk past the pillars and go all the way straight to the wall across from you. When you get to this wall, turn right and follow this hallway until you get to an opening. As you progress through this hallway, Sentinals will appear and help take out the Flood with you. Help them out and keep fighting the Combat and Carrier enemies. Fight them using everything you can. Now when the enemies are out of the way, quickly get to the opening. Go through it and you'll be in front of a lift. Jump onto this lift and it will rise up to the second floor of this level. WAIT, IT GETS WORSE! It personally gets easier for me, but for many other people, it sure does get worse. When the lift gets to the top, go through the opening in this room. In this hallway, turn left and go all the way straight to the other end of this room. There will be an opening to your left, so go through it and continue to follow this hallway until you see a pit in front of you. Drop down into the pit and you will find two Health Packs! Pick up one of them and then get out of this pit. Now continue to follow this area to a big locked door the monitor is standing in front of. He will disappear and then leave this up to you. MISSION OBJECTIVES -Hold your position until the monitor returns Whoops, forgot to say the Sentinals are here to help you. But for this part, you must take out the Flood enemies while the monitor goes about and tries to unlock the door. Carrier and Combat forms will get into huge groups, so this is the best part to use fragmentation grenades. There is also another health pack next to a dead Flood enemy, but save this for when your health drops to minimum. Just stay where you are and keep fighting the Flood using a Shotgun, an Assault Rifle, and grenades. Also hang jump around. As you are fighting, wait for the objective to change at the top of the screen, as the monitor will return when you have killed enough enemies. MISSION OBJECTIVES -Follow the monitor to the index The door is now open, so go through the opened door. There is a path to your left and right. Take the right path, as it leads to the next area. This area is annoying. Across from you is an opening leading to the next area. Right now there are few Combat Form flood enemies. Kill them and then head into the opening. Now continue to follow this large room until you see an opening to your left and right, but watch out. As you go through this hallway, you'll find a Combat Form Flood enemy with a Rocket Launcher at the end. To dodge his rockets, strafe or jump. Otherwise, use a grenade to take him out. When you get to both openings, take the right one, as the left one leads to a pit. There is a locked door in front of you, and the monitor will have to leave this area to unlock it. MISSION OBJECTIVES -Hold your position until the monitor returns There are no Sentinals, but who cares? No enemies will attack you here, except if you see big red dots on your motion tracker, then they are just Flood enemies in infection form. Take them out if you see them and just wait for the door to unlock. MISSION OBEJCTIVES -Follow the monitor to the index As soon as the door opens, kill the infection form Flood enemies in front of you and enter the room. In this big room, turn right and head straight until you get to a pit. Drop down into this pit, killing the few Combat Form Flood enemies around you. Down in this area, turn left and you'll see an opening leading into this hallway, so go through the opening. This hallway is short and straightforward, and there are few Carrier Form Flood enemies, so this hallway shouldn't be a problem. Just follow this hallway until you get to a ramp, killing the Carrier Form enemies you see. When you get to a ramp, head up it. At the top of the ramp, kill the Flood enemies around you. Stay down in the ramp to kill them easily. Now when you have killed most of them, head left into the next hallway. In this hallway, turn right and follow this hallway until you get to a HUGE group of Carrier form Flood enemies. Behind them is a Combat form with a Rocket Launcher, and this thing will be a huge pain. The thing may die from a nearby explosion, or you may get unlucky and need to take it out yourself. By the time this is dead, continue to follow this hallway until you get to another pit. Jump over or walk around this pit, as it leads to nowhere. Kill the Combat and Carrier Flood enemies on the high platforms surrounding you. Now with your back to the pit, head all the way straight to the other side of this hallway. Over here, turn right and follow this hallway until you get to an opening. There should be no enemies in your way, but some may start appearing behind you, but they shouldn't give you any trouble. When you get to the opening, go through it and you'll be in front of a lift. Get on it and the lift will rise, taking you up to the third floor. BUT I DON'T WANT TO RIDE THE ELEVATOR! I don't too, and I don't know why we should be in here anyway. At the top of the lift, go through the opening and you'll be in the next hallway. There is a path to your left and right. Take the left path and you'll be greeted by Sentinals. Follow this hallway until you stop in front of another pit. There will be Combat form Flood enemies near the pit, but the Sentinals will help you deal with them. After they have been killed, collect any extra ammo they may have dropped and then head into the pit. Down in here is an opening, so go through it. You'll be in another straightforward hallway. Follow this hallway until you get to a ramp, killing the Combat, Carrier, and Infection form Flood enemies in this hallway. Just remember to take them out from a farther distance so you won't lose a certain amount of health. When you get to the ramp, head up it. At the top of the ramp are Sentinals taking out the Flood. The Sentinals should be able to distract the Flood so you will be able to take them out easier. Collect any dropped ammo and with your back to the ramp, turn left and walk past the pillars. Now you'll be in front of a blue wall. Turn right and follow this hallway until you get to a locked door. The mission objective will now change once again. MISSION OBJECTIVES -Hold your position until the monitor returns Once again, the monitor will have to go off and get the door opened. But this place isn't as bad as the others. There is a Health Pack to the right of the locked door if needed. The enemy you will see here will mostly be Carrier Forms. So that means when fighting them, take them out from a safe distance. Kill any Combat or Infection forms that appear and find whatever you can as protection. The monitor will return and the door will be unlocked. Grab the Health Pack before entering the opened door. MISSION OBJECTIVES -Follow the monitor to the index There will be a path to your left and right. Take the left path and you may be right in front of a Combat Form with a Rocket Launcher. Take it out before it takes you by surprise. Also get rid of the other Combat forms in this area before they start annoying you. Another thing to watch out for are the Carrier Forms that are behind you. Now follow the monitor and it will go into an opening. Before going in the same opening, kill any Combat Forms around you (and be sure to take out the ones on the higher pillars), because they can kill you here easily if you don't kill them. Toss grenades if needed, jump, duck, and hide behind pillars for protection. When all said is done, head into the opening the monitor went into. You'll see a Health Pack across from you next to dead Flood enemies. Pick it up and then turn right. You'll see the monitor at the other end of this room. Go to the other end of the room and turn right. Follow this hallway until you get to another ramp leading down into a pit. Remember to take out any Flood enemies behind you, because they get really annoying here. Walk backwards while fighting and when they get far enough from you, toss a grenade at them. When you get to the pit, jump over it and walk around it, as it leads to nowhere. Keep heading straight and you'll get to a door that is partially opened, but it's open enough for you to get into it, so enter it. In this room, head straight and you'll get to the locked door. Since the door is locked, you'll know what that means... MISSIOB OBJECTIVES -Hold your position until the monitor returns In my opinion, this is the hardest battle to fight out in this level while waiting for the monitor to return. There are no Sentinals to help you out either, so it's all up to you this time. My best way of surviving this is to face the door and turn right. You'll see an alcove in front of you, so go into the alcove. This will give you more protection to battle for the Flood. Now with your back to the wall and the locked door to your right, wait for the Flood to come. You may be low on ammo, so toss grenades at them if you have to. If you are low on ammo, you'll have to get close to them and pray that one of the Combat Form enemies has an Assault Rifle or a Shotgun on him. If really needed and you have no ammo, you can swap out for a different weapon. When you also get low on ammo, you can get out of the alcove you are hiding in and search for a weapon on the ground. Another thing I like doing here is to notice the alcove the Flood enemies come out of. Every now and then, I like to toss a plasma grenade into there to hopefully kill off some more Flood enemies. If the Flood does get into a group, toss a fragmentation grenade at them to get rid of them easier. Just take out each one at a time, don't get in the middle of a huge fight, and keep ducking/running/jumping if you really need to. If you get out of this area alive, you can look over all of those dead Flood enemies and collect any extra ammo. The monitor will come back and the door has been opened. MISSION OBJECTIVES -Follow the monitor to the index Well, well, well: the Sentinals are right there when we could've just used them in that previous fight. Now head into the opened door to continue this level. In this room, head all the way straight to the other end of the room. There are infection forms here, but they won't bother you, so leave them up to the Sentinals. When you get to the other end of this room, turn right and follow this hallway until you get to an opening. As you are heading down this hallway, a huge group of Combat form Flood enemies will appear right in front of you. Take them out with one or two easy grenades. Also take out the Carrier forms that appear as well. When you get to the opening, go through it and the lift will be in front of you. Jump onto it and we'll be on our way to the forth and final floor of this level. FOURTH FLOOR: TOOLS, GUNS, KEYS TO SUPER WEAPONS Bear with me. We're almost there. At the top of the lift, head into the opening. In this room, there will be a Health Pack in front of you. Pick it up and then head right. Follow this hallway until you get to a pit. Ignore the Carrier form Flood enemies that appear behind you, as they're too slow to catch up to you. But do kill the Combat form Flood enemies that jump out from the alcove before they annoy you. When you get to the pit, fall down it. Down here, head into the opening next to you and you'll be in a straightforward hallway. Follow this hallway until you get to the ramp, killing the Carrier and the Infection form Flood enemies in this hallway. When you get to the ramp, head up it. At the top, you will see a locked door to your left and right. Get in front of the locked door to the right and the monitor will be right there. Wait for him to open the door. Kill all of the Combat form Flood enemies in here to keep yourself busy while he is trying to open the door. If you need to, pick up the Health Pack next to the locked door. Just remember do duck, jump, toss grenades, and if you really need to, go back into the pit for more protection. When he finally opens the door, go into it. In this room, there will be a pit in front of you. There is a Health Pack down there if you need it, so pick it up. Now go all the way straight to the other end of this room and stop at the wall. Follow this hallway until you get to another pit. When you get to the pit, jump over it or walk around it, as there is nothing down there. Now watch out for the group of Carrier forms here, because they can kill you easily if you don't get around them. Now follow the monitor to the locked door. He will try to open it, but it will open enough for a hole to be in the middle of the door. That means the Flood enemies can jump out of it, so kill any of them that jump out. For protection, face the door and head right into another opening. Even though the door will open in a few seconds, the Flood will get at you fast and easy. When the door has fully opened, kill all of the Combat and Infection form enemies. When all of them are gone, head into the opening. In this room, you'll see a blue plasma beam at the other end of this room. MISSION OBJECTIVES -Recover the index You have two options: 1) RUN all the way to that plasma beam without fighting the flood or 2) Take out all the Combat form enemies that will be on the higher platforms. Both ways are pretty hard to pull out, so I hope you have more than minimal health for this area. The Sentinals will not be there to help you. Duck, jump, hide behind pillars, and even run to the plasma beam while fighting the Flood. After you have done whatever you can to get to that plasma beam, RUN up to it and the level has been beaten! Congratulations for beating an extremely hard level! ******************************************************************************* CUTSCENE As you approach the plasma beam, the ground you are on will lower back to the first floor, so we get to do this level again! Nah just kidding. The plasma beam surrounding the index will deactivate when it gets back to the first floor. The Master Chief will pick it up and the monitor will snatch it from him, as he is required to take the index for transportation. Then the monitor will then teleport you back to Halo's Control Room...someone's waiting for you. ******************************************************************************* ----------------------- Level 8: Two Betrayals ----------------------- -Reactivate the weapon at the heart of Halo...and learn the truth. We have finally gotten the Index, so we can use it at Halo's Control Room to wipe out the entire Flood, right? Wrong. It can just activate Halo and wipe out the entire galaxy. Cortana is waiting for you at the Control Room and she's not in a good mood. The monitor and the Sentinals will become your enemy so now you got 3 enemies right at you. Remember that this level is the same thing as Assault on the Control Room, except you're playing it backwards and that you will be going to places you haven't been either. That means follow the arrows backwards, not forwards. Another thing that is different is that it will be a much darker atmosphere with snow falling heavier. Also note that after this level, you won't find any more Jackals for the rest of the game. ******************************************************************************* CUTSCENE You will be teleported back into Halo's Control room with the monitor, still talking in his geeky little voice. You two will walk up to the control panel and he will give you the index. The Master Chief will insert it into the panel and something weird will happen. The monitor will claim that wasn't supposed to happen, and all of a sudden, look! It's Cortana with the index! It scares the monitor and he falls to the ground. She's been waiting here for the past 12 hours watching you helping the monitor set to "Slit our throats". The Master Chief will try to tell Cortana he's a friend and then Cortana will tell him what he almost made him too. After that, the Master Chief will tell her that they were going to activate Halo and wipe out the Flood. Cortana then explain that Halo doesn't kill the Flood, it kills their food, and that you have to starve them to death to wipe them out, and Halo was designed to wipe out the galaxy. So the Chief asks the monitor if it's true and then tells his part. Cortana will pick up movement and then the Master Chief takes her out of the control panel and inserts her into his head. Sentinals will rise up from the pit and all aim at you. So the monitor teleports off and lets the Sentinals deal with you. ******************************************************************************* Run in any direction as soon as this level starts, because the Sentinals will immediately start firing at you. Instead of starting this level with your old Assault Rifle and Pistol, you get a Plasma Pistol and a Shotgun. To take out all of these Sentinals, charge up your Plasma Pistol and fire it at them. A fully charged hit will take them out in one shot, and these weapons are fairly accurate. If you are a good aimer, this shouldn't be too hard. THE GUN POINTED AT THE HEAD OF THE UNIVERSE As soon as all of the Sentinals are destroyed, cross the bridge to get to the locked door. Open this door by activating the panel to the right of the door. Now go into the opened door and you'll see Covenant enemies across from you. Sentinals will also appear and battle the Covenant. The Covenant wins this fight almost all of the time, but for you, just sit back and watch the fight. When the fight is over, pull out your Shotgun and take out the Elite first. Now when the Elite is dead, use your Plasma Pistol (don't charge it) to make short work of the group of Grunts. There is also another Elite at the other side of the room. Fire a charged shot at it to drain its shields and then finish it off. When all of the enemies in this room are dead, either swap out your Plasma Pistol for a Plasma Rifle or swap it out for a Plasma Pistol with more ammo. Now follow this hallway to a locked door. Activate the panel to the left of the locked door to open it, and then enter it. This hallway will have energy shields but no Covenant enemies. There is also another door across from you. Activate the panel to the right of it and it will open. Now you will be outside. You will see Grunts, Elites, and Jackals patrolling this area. Take out the Grunts first and then the Jackals. Use a Covenant weapon to take out the Elite, or your Shotgun if you need to. If you need protection, stand behind an energy shield or duck behind one of the alcoves inside. When all of the enemies here are dead, step outside. Out here, walk forward and you'll see a ramp. MISSION OBJECTIVES -Locate and destroy Pulse Generator #1 Cortana will tell you that you need to destroy 3 pulse generators before the monitor and the Sentinals find a way to activate Halo without the index, and if we damage or destroy them, the monitor would need to repair them before Halo can be used. Head up the ramp. At the top of the ramp, follow the pathway until you get to a set of weapons and such. Pick up the Health Pack and Shotgun ammo. Now take your other weapon and swap it out for the Pistol. Now when you have the Pistol, head back down to the bottom of the ramp. At the bottom of the ramp, you should be facing the opening leading inside. Facing it, turn around. You'll see a slope heading to a lower level, so head onto the lower level. Down here, use your Pistol's scope to take out the Grunts one by one. Watch out, because their Needlers can be really annoying. Now go for the Jackals and then walk up to the Elite. Use your Shotgun to take it down quickly. When everybody in this area are dead, search the corner of this area to find a pathway leading to the next area. When you find the pathway, get onto it. Kill the Grunt in front of you and turn left. You will find an Elite and a Jackal, so kill them both. Now follow this pathway to a tunnel and then head into the tunnel. At the end of the tunnel, kill the Jackal across from you. Now continue to follow this pathway to two Elites. Make short work of them using your Shotgun. At this time, your Pistol ammo may be low, so swap out for a Plasma Pistol or a Plasma Rifle. Now continue to follow this pathway until you get to the next tunnel. Go through this tunnel and kill the Grunts at the end of the tunnel. Follow this pathway until you get to two more Elites. Mow both of them down and head back into the tunnel if you need protection. When both of these Elites are dead, continue to follow this pathway until music starts playing. This music means that an Elite has jumped into a Wraith. We can quickly deal with this. Just follow this pathway until you get to dead Flood enemies. Pick up the Rocket Launcher next to them and pick up the rockets too. Also next to you are slopes heading down to the ground. Go back through the tunnel you just came through. Next to you is another slope heading down to the ground. Without going down the slope, try to get a clear shot of the Wraith using your Rocket Launcher. When you have a straight shot, fire a rocket at it. If you ever need more rockets, go back to where the dead Flood enemies were and pick up some more rockets. It should take 2-4 direct hits to get rid of the Wraith. When the Wraith is gone, use a few Rockets to take out some of the Grunts, Jackals, and maybe even an Elite. When you run out of Rockets, go back to where your Rocket Launcher is and pick up the weapon you swapped for the Rocket Launcher, so you'll have more firepower against the Covenant. Use your Plasma Pistol/Rifle to take out the Covenant enemies one by one, and save the Gold Elite for last. If you see an Elite out in the open, fire your plasma ammo right at him until he is killed. For taking out the Gold Elite, use a charged shot from your Plasma Pistol to drain its shields and then finish it off with your Shotgun. Now when everybody on the ground are dead, head up to 1 of the two Banshees. Get in one of them, because we'll need to use it to fly up to the NAV point, which is located high in the air. Drive the Banshee up to the NAV point and you'll notice it is on a platform with a door. Elites and Grunts will come out of the door, but before getting out of your Banshee, fire a missile at them to get rid of them. When everybody on the platform is dead, land the Banshee on the platform and get out of the Banshee. On this platform, open the door and you'll be in a hallway. Follow this hallway to a door and then open the door when you get to the room. In this room, go into the opening to get to the middle of this room. You'll see a blue plasma beam in the middle of this room. This is the first pulse generator. To damage it, walk into it, but be warned that it will drain your shields completely. When you are ready, walk into it and you'll hear the explosion of it being destroyed. MISSION OBJECTIVES -Go to Canyon B Now Sentinals will appear, but don't waste your time getting rid of them. QUICKLY leave this room back into the hallway. Follow this hallway back to the door leading outside and then enter it. BREAKING STUFF TO LOOK TOUGH MISSION OBJECTIVES -Find and enter lower entrance to Canon B Back outside, you will notice a new Banshee to your right. Take this Banshee because it'll be at full out. When you are in the Banshee, a NAV point will be marked for your next location. Follow this NAV point to the bridge. This bridge has a door at both ends of this bridge. Before getting out of your Banshee to enter the door, Elites and Grunts with Fuel Rod Guns will come out from both doors. Use the missiles on your Banshee to get rid of them easily. Once all of the Grunts and Elites are dead, land the Banshee on the bridge and get off of it. Now follow the NAV point to a door and enter it. Follow this hallway to a door and then enter it. You will find a limping Grunt in front of you. Get rid of this Grunt. Now head to the center of the room where you'll find more Grunts and Elites. You can easily get rid of both Elites and Grunts using a Covenant weapon or a Shotgun. There are also Jackals in this area, but save them for last. Melee attack them to kill them so you will save ammo. If you ever need protection, head back into the previous hallway to let your shields recharge. Now put your back to the door you came out of. Head left and follow this pathway until you see an opening to your left. Once you get to the opening, head into it and head down the ramp. Down here, toss a Plasma Grenade or Melee attack the Jackals to kill them off. Now head into the opening and you'll be in the next room. There is an alcove to your right, but it looks like there are no enemies here. But are there? Grunts, Elites, and Jackals will come out of the alcove. They can be easily killed using a Plasma Pistol/Rifle or a Shotgun, but if you need protection, head into the previous room. Now when everybody here is dead, follow the hallway into the next room. In this room, get in front of the ramp. Music will start playing and look! The Flood! They will start to battle the Covenant. Most of the time the Covenant wins this fight, but let them fight out to the death so you won't need to use up more ammo. Take out whoever's left, and if it's the Covenant, you will find a couple of Elites. Get rid of them by using a Covenant weapon or a Shotgun. If you need more health or ammo, go back to the ramp and head right. You will find two Health Packs. There is also a Gold Elite in this area. Use your Shotgun to quickly drain its shields and then finish it off by using melee attacks. Now head into the middle of the room, where you will find more Elites, Grunts and Jackals. The Elites will be in the middle, so they can be killed easily. But the Grunts and Jackals will be at the other side of the room. Use a Plasma Pistol or a Rifle to kill them directly. If the energy shields get in your way, fire pistol ammo at them to temporarily get rid of them so you have a direct shot at the Grunts and Jackals. While you are fighting, Combat Form Flood enemies will come out of the next hallway. Kill them before they get to you, or if there are Grunts and Jackals still alive, let them fight out so you'll need to use less ammo. When everybody in this room are finally dead, follow this pathway until you see a door to your left (if you get lost somehow, put your back to the ramp and follow the left pathway). When you get to the door, open it and you'll be in the next hallway. Follow this hallway to a door and then open it. You'll be on the first of the two twin bridges. There are Covenant enemies on this side and the Flood are on the opposite bridge fighting it out once again. My suggestion is not to wait for the whole fight, because that would take forever. My way of doing this is to take each enemy out one at a time. The bridge you are on mostly consists of Jackals and Elites. Pretty much all of the Jackals will be in front of you and most of the Elites will be on the other side of this bridge. Melee attack the Jackals to kill them. While fighting them, also be sure to kill the Combat Form Flood enemies on the opposite bridge. At this time, the battery in your Plasma Pistol/Rifle may be depleted, but to replace that, swap out for a Plasma Pistol from the dead Jackals. When the Jackals are dead, continue forward on this bridge. Then a whole group of Combat Form Flood enemies will jump onto this bridge. Kill them off using your Shotgun before they become a real pain. There is also a Gold Elite with a plasma sword on the other side of this bridge. Don't worry about him now, unless he's coming to attack you. Kill off the other Elites on this bridge before fighting him. If you need protection, just hide behind one of the barriers or go back into the previous hallway. When the Elite starts to attack you, the best way to kill it is to drain its shields with one shot from a charged Plasma Pistol. Now switch to your Shotgun and finish it off. Now get to the other side of this bridge. As you are proceeding forward on the bridge, more Combat Forms will jump over from the other bridge, and they will be either in front of you and behind you. Kill them all off so they won't be annoying when you get to the next bridge. When everyone else is finally dead, get to the other side of the bridge and open the door. You'll be in a hallway. Follow this hallway to a door and then open it. In this room, there will be no Covenant enemies, but you have a lot of Combat Forms to deal with. Get their attention by going into the middle of the room. Once they spot you, RUN back into the previous hallway you were in before they take you down. Use your Shotgun to take them down one by one. If they get in large groups, toss a grenade at them. Eventually everybody will be dead, but if you need to, you can get out of the hallway and take anyone else out. When there are no more Combat Forms, go back to the door you used to enter this room. Now follow either pathway until you get to an opening. If you find an extra Shotgun on the ground, pick it up for extra ammo. Once you get to the opening, go through it. In here, turn left and you'll see more Covenant vs. Flood matches. This time, it's a really close match, so I don't know who wins all the time. If the Flood win, then watch out. One of the Combat Forms has a Rocket Launcher, and if it's still alive, get rid of it. If the Covenant win, you can easily finish off the Elites. Now follow this hallway into the next room. In this larger room, kill the Combat Form and Carrier Form Flood before they get to you and kill you. Now with your back to the opening you just came out of, follow either pathway to a door. As you approach the door, you'll hear the sound of glass breaking. Those are Infection and Combat forms being released. Use your Shotgun to kill them off, and for protection, you can go back in the previous hallway. Some of these will have a Pistol, so if you find one, swap out your weapon (NOT THE SHOTGUN) for it, because it will be useful in the next area. If not, use whatever you have. There is also a Health Pack next to the door. When you find the door, pick up the Health Pack if you need it (or you can come back to it later), and then enter the door. Follow this hallway to a door and then open it. You'll be on the second of the two bridges, and more music will start playing. I think this bridge is easier than the first one, but this time, there will be a Banshee flying around. Use whatever you can to take it out before it starts to get really annoying. There are no Covenant or Flood enemies on the opposite bridge (unless there are other enemies you haven't killed), and more Flood enemies are on this bridge. But watch out: 3 Combat Forms have Rocket Launchers, and I'm sure you don't want a rocket exploding in your face. If you got your Pistol, take them out using your scope, otherwise, use grenades to get rid of them when you get closer to them. Watch out for the Combat forms that jump out right in front of you, but they shouldn't give you any trouble. Just continue to the other side of the bridge where you'll find a huge group of infection forms. Melee them, get to the door on the bridge, and then enter it. Follow this hallway to a door and then open it. In this room, you'll see a dead Grunt and a dead Elite on the ground, both of them killed by Infection forms. Just get rid of them and then facing the Grunt and the Elite, turn left and follow this pathway until you see an opening to your left. But be warned: as you are following this pathway, you'll hear the sounds of explosions and glass breaking. These are Flood enemies, Combat and Carrier, breaking out from the middle of the room. They will run up to you in front of you and from behind you. Wipe them out using your Shotgun or grenades, and go into the previous hallway if you need more protection. Now continue following the platform until you get to the opening to your left. Head into this opening and down the ramp. In here, go through the opening in front of you and follow the hallway to a door and then enter it. In this room, there will be a lift in front of you. Get onto it and activate the panel to take the lift downward. A lot of Infection Forms will appear, but they shouldn't bother you, so ignore them. When the lift gets to the bottom, open the door next to you and you'll be in another short hallway. Follow this hallway to another door and then enter this door. Head forward in this room. As you are heading forward, two Combat Form enemies will jump from the higher level. Quickly get rid of them both and then turn right. Follow this pathway until you see a door to your right. Don't worry about the Flood here, because there are few Combat forms here and none of them are equipped with weapons. When you get to a door, open it and you'll be in a hallway. Follow this hallway to a door and then open it. You'll be outside once again. MISSION OBJECTIVES -Locate and destroy Pulse Generator #2 This area is pretty difficult. An Elite in a Ghost, one in a Banshee, two stationary guns with Grunts in them, and you also got a Wraith guarding the path to the next area. No Flood to keep the Covenant busy either, so you're out of luck. I would use whatever you have to get rid of the Banshee first, because that is probably the annoying part in this area. If you need health, go to the middle of this big area. Two slopes are leading downward into a pit. Head into the pit, and at the bottom of the bit, you'll find two openings, and perhaps a Ghost. One opening has two Health Packs and the other has a Rocket Launcher with ammo. Swap out your weapon for a Rocket Launcher and then grab the Health. Once you have the Rocket Launcher, get closer to the Wraith and get a direct shot of it. It takes 2-4 direct shots from a Rocket Launcher to destroy the Wraith. With the Wraith gone, you can easily get into the next area, as the Grunts and Jackals near the Wraith shouldn't bother you. Take out the Grunts in the stationary guns if needed. You can also use one of the Ghosts to get rid of the remaining Covenant enemies here. When you have the Wraith and Banshee destroyed, hop into a Ghost, glide past the exploded Wraith, head to the lower ground, and head into the tunnel. Follow this tunnel to an opening and then go through it. A whole bunch of pillars will be in front of you, but the gaps between them are big enough for you and your Ghost to get by them. There are a couple of Jackals up ahead, but ignore them. Continue following this path until you get to a flipped Warthog. You can ditch the Ghost and take the Warthog, or you can keep the Ghost. I'd take the Warthog because the gunner seat may serve you useful in the next area. But either way, head up the slope next to you. Be careful that you don't fall off. At the top of the slope, turn left and you'll see a group of Grunts. Ignore them, but run them over if you want. They may try to dive and end up jumping in the lower pit you just came out of. Now continue straight into a passage, and then you'll be out in an open field again. There is a huge pit of ice right in front of you. If you have a Warthog, this should be easier. Park your Warthog in the middle of the ice pit and get out of it. Notice that there are a pair of Banshees across from you where the Elites and rocks are. Now get in the gunner seat and look for a Banshee flying around in the air. When it comes attacking you, spray that thing with your gunner and it'll be gone in no time. If you have a Ghost, you'll need to ignore it and go for the Elites across from you. They like to hide behind the rocks, so they are more of a pain. Get back in the driver seat of the Warthog and park it closer to the rocks. Now get back in the gunner seat and you can wipe out both quickly. Just watch out for the stationary gun above you. Take out the Grunts that jump into it if they get really annoying. Now the Ghost can get rid of the Elites fast too. There are also other enemies, such as Hunters and a Wraith in this area, but we don't need to head in those directions. From the rock area with all of the Elites, get out of your vehicle and look for the pair of Banshees. Hop into one of them and then fly right up to the NAV point is pointing too. Watch out for the Banshees flying around the air, because you don't want the missiles destroying your Banshee. When you get to the platform the NAV point is point to, use the missiles on your Banshee to get rid of the Elites and Grunts. There is a bigger platform across from the one you're on. It has Elites and a stationary gun. Try to ignore them, but if they get really annoying, feel free to wipe them out with your Banshee. Now on this platform, enter the door and you'll be in another hallway. Follow this hallway to a door and then open it. You are in the room with the second pulse generator, but be warned: this area is extremely annoying. There are Sentinals and the Flood fighting, but the Flood usually wins this one easily. Some of the Combat Forms have Rocket Launchers, so watch out. Try not to get spotted, and toss grenades into the large combat form groups you see. Use your Shotgun to help you out if needed, and go back into the previous hallway if you need protection. When all of the enemies in this room are finally dead, search for a Rocket Launcher, because you'll really need it for after you destroy the pulse generator. Swap out for the Rocket Launcher when you find it. Now walk into the pulse generator in the middle of the room to destroy it. This isn't good. TONS of Flood enemies will appear everywhere. They'll come out from the hallway you came from, appear from the alcoves, and a lot more. And the fact that your shields are drained doesn't help either. What I do is RUN immediately to the door and fire 1 or 2 direct rocket shots at the ground to take out the Combat forms. One of them may have a Rocket Launcher too. After about 2 rockets have been fired, the hallway should be cleared, so RUN into it and let your shields recharge. Now follow this hallway back to a door and open it. You'll be back outside again. THE TUNNELS BELOW MISSION OBJECTIVES -Move through the tunnels and enter Canyon A Cortana has went into the Covenant battle-net and has located the crash-site for the Pillar of Autumn. The ship's fusion reactors are still powered up, and we can use them to destroy Halo. But before we can do that, we need to get authorization from Captain Keyes, or take his neural implants. Now that you're outside, get into the Banshee to your right. A NAV point will direct you to the tunnel you need to enter, and it is located at the ground next to a Wraith. The Wraith won't touch you, so fly down into the tunnel and enter it. Below you are Covenant enemies battling the Flood. I'd stay out of these, because they're a waste of time, health, and ammo. To get past this, fly up to the ceiling of the cave and fly forward. Also watch out for the Combat Forms which have Rocket Launchers, they will be scattered around this hallway. Fly through this hallway until you stop at a locked door. When you get to it, get out of your Banshee and activate the panel next to the locked door to open it. But the door is broken. It will open partially. It is wide enough for you to go through it, but too small to bring the Banshee with you. Time to travel on foot once again. Carrier Forms will come into the big room and try to attack you. Get rid of them before they cause more trouble, and when you have killed enough of them, go into the room. In here, you'll see a bridge to your right leading to the other side of this room. Cross this bridge to the halfway point. Once you are halfway done crossing the bridge, Infection Forms will appear out of nowhere. Spray them using one of your weapons and then when you have killed enough, head to the other side of this bridge. More Combat Forms will appear, and one of them will have a Rocket Launcher. Stay at a far distance from them and use grenades to get rid of them. Duck and jump of you need protection, and you can also get behind one of the barriers on the sides of the bridge. If you have Shotgun ammo left, it's best not to use it here and save it for the next part. Once all of the Flood enemies here are dead, go to the end of the bridge. Now there will be a locked door across from you. Get in front of this door and activate the panel next to the door to open it. Now enter the door and you'll be in the next hallway. Follow this straightforward hallway to another locked door. Activate the panel next to the locked door to open it. Now go through it and you'll be in another hallway. Turn right and you'll see a slope leading outside. Head up the slope and now for the last few parts of this level. FINAL RUN MISSION OBJECTIVES -Locate and destroy Pulse Generator #3 This is a huge area, and you better be on your toes. Across from you are the Covenant and Flood battling it out. There is also a Banshee in the air that will attack you once you're spotted. Start this area out by heading right. You'll get to a group of Combat Forms just chilling and hanging out. Toss a grenade right at them to destroy most of them, and then get rid of the remaining ones. Now continue forward to where the Covenant and Flood are battling. Let them fight it out and then be on the lookout for the Banshee. When it attacks you, attack it back with everything you have until it is destroyed. Now a Gold Elite may attack you, so use whatever you can to get rid of it. Duck behind rocks for protection. At this time, the fight should be over, and the Flood usually wins this fight. Toss grenades at them if they are in groups, otherwise, take them out one by one. Kill any Grunts that are still in the stationary guns. Also in this area is a Ghost. Look for it, and then when you find it, hop in it. Head in the direction it is facing and you'll get to a passage. Follow this passage to another area. Across from you is a nice refreshing area. Get out of your Ghost and grab the extra Shotgun Shells, a Rocket Launcher, and a Health Pack. The Rocket Launcher will be really useful for the next area. Now get back in your Ghost and follow this pathway until you stop at a ledge. You normally can't get on this ledge and onto the higher area with the Ghost, but if you see the extreme left edge of this platform, you can ride it to there and get up. Up in this area, Ghost or not, head right and you'll see the last Covenant vs. Flood fight of the level. There is a Wraith across from you, and this thing will be in your way when trying to get to the Banshees. Try to fire as many direct Rockets into the Wraith to destroy it. If you have your Ghost, then glide around the left part of the level, where the Covenant and Flood appear in less numbers. You can sneak in to one of the Banshees and QUICKLY get into it before the Wraith tears you apart. If you don't have a Ghost, you're going to need a lot to take out everybody. Sniper Rifles, Pistols, Rocket Launchers, Covenant weapons, everything. If you need health, go back to the previous area. Use the Sniper Rifle to take out the Elites. Also watch out for the cloaked ones that can appear near you any second and take you out easily. But when everybody is finally dead, head to one of the Banshees. When you are finally in it, fly up to the NAV point. You'll have to fly around twisted pathways, but there shouldn't be enemies below you to annoy you. When you get to the NAV point, it should be on a platform. Before you get on the platform, watch out for the Sentenals that come out from the door. Use whatever you have on your Banshee to destroy them before they fry you up. When they are all finally destroyed, land on the platform. On this platform, head up to the door and enter it. Follow this hallway to a door and then open it. In this room, plenty of Sentenals will be guarding the final pulse generator. Ignore them and QUICKLY RUN INTO THE GENERATOR to destroy it. This also gets rid of the Sentenals and ends the level. ******************************************************************************* CUTSCENE After the pulse generator has been destroyed, the Master Chief will want to find a ride and get to the Captain, but that will take too long. Cortana will explain there is a teleportation grid that runs throughout Halo. While she was alone in the control room (and you were out with the monitor in the Library), she learned how to snap into the grid, and that's how the monitor moves about so quick. But each jump needs a certain amount of energy, so they're only going to try this once. Onto the Captain. ******************************************************************************* --------------- Level 9: Keyes --------------- -Stage a one-cyborg assault on a Covenant ship and bring back the Captain. We have destroyed all 3 pulse generators, which will stop the monitor from activating Halo for a while. That also gives us more time to get back to the Pillar of Autumn and destroy Halo. But before we can do that, we must get authorization from Captain Keyes, who has been captured once again. In this level, you will be revisiting the same ship from the third level. ******************************************************************************* CUTSCENE The camera view will show what is happening on the ground, showing several Covenant/Flood battles. Cortana will say that the Covenant network is absolute chaos. Their leadership ordered all ships to abandon Halo when they found the Flood, but they were too late. The flood have overwhelmed the Truth and Reconciliation and disabled it. The Covenant are also terrified that the Flood will use this ship to escape from Halo, so they sent in a strike team to stop the Flood and get out of Halo. Cortana will then get a good lock on Captain Keyes' CNI transponder signal, and that he's alive. But because of the interference from the cruiser's reactors, she can bring you to him as close as he can. Cortana and the Master Chief have teleported successfully, but the camera fools you and he is tipped over and falls to the floor. ******************************************************************************* UNDER NEW MANGEMENT MISSION OBJECTIVES -Find a way into the control room The door to your right leads right to the control room where Captain Keyes is located, but Bungie makes our life hard and locks the door. In a pefect world, we could enter that door as see the Captain. We'll find another way, right? Head straight from your starting position to the door that is across from you. As you are heading down the hallway, Captain Keyes will radio in saying "Chief, don't be a fool...leave me!", and then Cortana loses his signal. Enter the door that is across from you. In this room, walk straight and you'll see a Grunt being chased by a Combat Form enemy. Wipe out both of them. Now head right and you'll get to a 4-way intersection. The openings in front of you and to your right are blocked of, so take the left opening. You'll find a group of Grunts fighting the Flood, but let's save some time and kill everybody. One of the Combat Forms may have a Shotgun, but it's not always there. Swap your Plasma Pistol out for it and then follow this hallway to a door. Enter this door and you'll be on the first floor of the shuttle bay. Right in front of you is a huge hole caused by some explosion. It is impossible to jump over it, and across from you are Elites fighting. Ignore them and jump into the hole. ******************************************************************************* CUTSCENE As the Master Chief is falling, he will land in the light blue liquid down below. Talk about getting lucky. ******************************************************************************* MISSION OBJECTIVES -Find another way into the ship The liquid you are in isn't poisonous, so don't worry. Get out of this liquid and you'll see the Flood and Covenant battling. At some point, either side will notice you. Toss grenades for when fighting and also be on the lookout for Flood enemies coming out of the liquid. When all of the enemies in this area are dead, turn on your flashlight, because it's pretty dark here. Now search for a pathway heading into the next area. Once you find the pathway, go into it and follow it into the next area. You will come up and see another Covenant vs. Flood battles. If you turn right, you'll see two Combat Forms on a higher platform. My best way of getting rid of them is to toss a Plasma Grenade on the platform they are on, because other ways are more difficult. Now go take out the Elites with your Shotgun. There is a liquid pool in the middle of this area. With the liquid pool to your left, follow the pathway until you stop at a pit. Remember to kill all of the Combat and Carrier Forms that will appear as you head down this pathway. When you get to the pit, there should be Hunters and Elites at the ground below you. Stay up here before the Hunters notice you, but the Flood should keep them busy. There is also a Sniper Rifle next to you, so swap one of your weapons out to get it, as it will be useful for the next few parts. Just take my advice and don't use it on Flood enemies. Also get the Health Pack if you need it. You can either A) Use the Sniper Rifle and kill the Hunters or B) Let the Flood Kill the Hunters. Either way, head down into the ground they're on once they are all dead. You need to be quick in this area, because countless Carrier Forms come out from the liquid surrounding this area. Down here, kill any of the Carrier Forms that appear. Across from you is an opening leading to the next area. There are Plenty of Elites and Grunts. Kill them off while ducking behind the rocks for protection. Before going into the next area, search for a Health Pack across from the opening. Now go into this opening and follow the pathway into the next area. An Elite will be in a stationary gun across from you, which is quite rare. To save ammo, toss a Plasma Grenade at the stationary gun, which will kill the Elite and flip over the stationary gun. Also get rid of the Grunts surrounding the stationary gun. If you want to, you can flip it over, get in it, and take out all of the Combat and Carrier forms that come right at you. Using this shouldn't be too hard, but once the Flood stops appearing, it is safe to get out of the stationary gun. Now follow the pathway they were coming from to a lower pit. Kill the Combat Forms in front of the pit and then drop into the pit. Down here, follow this pathway into the next area. This area will have more Covenant and Flood fights with a stationary gun, but it won't be as useful this time. One of the Combat Forms in this area will have a Pistol. Find it and then swap out for it. Now use the Pistol's scope to take out the many Combat Forms on the higher levels, because they can be really annoying. Head back into the previous pathway if you need protection. Now when all of the enemies in this area are dead, follow this pathway into the final area if being outside. The gravity lift is in the center of the area on a higher platform. MISSIOB OBJECTIVES -Hold your position under the lift until it reactivates The Covenant and Flood are also battling on the top of the gravity lift. Before crossing the liquid to get to the platform, get the over shield next to the liquid. Now carefully cross the liquid to the platform across from you. Follow this platform up to where the gravity lift is across from you. A whole bunch of Elites and Combat Forms are right there, but the best way to get them out of the gravity lift area is to toss 2 or 3 fragmentation grenades into the lift. It'll take out all of the enemies easily. Now when it is clear, get under the gravity lift and wait a few seconds. Enemies might come and attack you, but it shouldn't be a problem. ******************************************************************************* CUTSCENE The Master Chief will look up into the ship and he will be hauled back into the cruiser. ******************************************************************************* UPSTAIRS, DOWNSTAIRS MISSION OBJECTIVES -Follow Cortana's directions back to the control room Ah, remember this place from the Truth and Reconciliation? Well don't worry, we won't need to take on another Covenant army this time. Head into the door across from you. In this hallway, head up the ramp in front of you. At the top of the ramp, turn left and follow this hallway until you get to a door. Cortana will tell you the Covenant battle net is a mess and indicates that a shuttle bay should be...here. Try to ignore the Carrier Forms in this hallway, as there are only a couple and there are plenty of dead Grunts and Elites in this hallway. When you get to the door, open it. In this room, turn right and face the pit below you. There are Combat Forms and carrier forms in that pit. Fall onto one of the Wraiths so you will lose minimal health and shields. Down in this are, get rid of all of the Flood enemies here. Now in one of the four corners of this area are an Over Shield and a Health Pack. Find these, because you'll really need them. When you find them, pick both of them up, but watch out for the door to your right, because it'll open and a crap-load of Combat Forms will be right there. One Fragmentation Grenade will get rid of all, if not almost all of them. Facing the door that just opened, turn around. There will be a locked door to your right. Go to the other end of the room and stop at a wall. There is an opening to your right, so go through this opening. In this hallway, head down the ramp to your left. Kill the Combat Forms and pick up the Shotguns they may have. There is a door in this hallway, but it leads to nowhere. Facing the door, turn around and you'll see a little hole leading to a lower level of this cruiser. Jump into this hole and WATCH OUT for the Carrier Forms waiting for you. Once they are gotten rid of, head into one of the two openings in this room. One of them leads to a dead end, so you should know which one to choose. Follow this hallway until you get to a Covenant and Flood fight. End this fight by tossing a grenade in the middle of them (most preferably Plasma), and/or kill off the rest of them. Back into the previous room if you need protection. Now go into the room where they were fighting. There is a ramp in this room. Face the ramp but don't go down it yet. At the bottom of the ramp is a nice little group of Grunts and Elites waiting for you. Toss a grenade or two down there to get rid of all of them, including the Elites. Now head down to the bottom of the ramp. Down here, turn left and you will see an opening in front of you and to your right. TAKE THE RIGHT OPENING, BECAUSE THE ONE IN FRONT OF YOU LEADS TO A MASSIVE FLOOD GROUP. Went into that opening myself and regretted it. In this hallway is a door, so enter it. Follow this hallway to an opened door and look! The second floor of the shuttle bay! Get into this room and turn left. You will see a door across from you, but this isn't the door you need to open. Follow this walkway until you get to another opened door. As you are heading down this walkway, Captain Keyes will radio in once again yelling "I...gave you an order solider, now pull out!". He is delirious and we need to find him and music will start playing. When you get to the opened door, go into it. In this hallway, head up the ramp and then go into the opening to the right. There will be two ramps in front of you. Kill all of the Combat Forms right there with your Shotgun, or toss a grenade right at them, which works just as good. Now head up the two ramps in front of you. At the top of the ramp will be a 4-way intersection. Take the opening to the right, as the other 2 lead to locked doors. Head up the ramp in front of you. At the top, go right and follow this hallway to an opening, killing all of the Combat Forms that you will see. You will see a Health Pack along the way, but my best bet is to save this for the end of the level, as you'll be coming back here later. When you get to the opening, go through it and now you'll be on the third floor of the shuttle bay. Turn right and you will see the door the NAV point is leading to. Before going into it, kill all of the Combat Forms surrounding that opening. Now more and more Combat Forms will come fast at you from that opening, so toss a grenade or two to dispose of them. But watch out. Some of the Combat Forms may have grenades with them, and when yours explodes, all of the grenades around it may explode, so this is dangerous to you. When all of the Combat Forms are dead, get in front of the opening. Before going into it, turn around and look at the second floor of the shuttle bay. You should find an Elite in a stationary gun. He may be annoying at the end of the level, so if you have it, use the scope on your Pistol to get rid of the Elite. Either way, head into the opening the NAV point was pointing to. In this hallway, follow it until you get to a door, killing any remaining Combat Forms in here. When you get to the door, open it and head into the next hallway. In this hallway, head straight up the ramp. THE CAPTAIN After a few seconds, Captain Keyes will radio in for the third and final time. This time, he will be screaming in pain. His vitals are fading and we need to hurry. Turn right and you'll see a door, so enter it. In here, there are two openings to your left. The first one leads to a dead end, but there is a Health Pack if you need it, or if you want to save it for later, but it's your choice. The second opening leads to the control room, but let's stay put and watch another episode of Covenant vs. Flood right in front of you. The Flood usually wins this fight, but if you need to, join in the fight and toss grenades for when the Flood gets into a huge group. Take out the survivors. Once everybody in this hallway are dead, take the second opening to the left and enter the door. MISSION OBJECTIVES -Recover Captain Keyes Here we are. The Control Room. Now let's go save the Captain's sorry ass again. Before we do that, take out the remaining Combat Forms in this room. Now head up the ramp leading to the control room and you'll find a gigantic blob right there. At first, I thought it was a plant the Covenant put in this ship for decoration, but it's really Captain Keyes. Walk up to it and a cut-scene will start. ******************************************************************************* CUTSCENE The Master Chief will walk up to that huge blob and aim its weapon at it. Cortana won't detect any human life-signs out of it and she'll find the Captain is now one of them (it looks like Captain Keyes if you look REALLY closely). It appears the infection forms got into his body and kept plucking them out one by one to get to a specific memory: the location of Earth. We can't let them get off of Halo, so the Master Chief makes a fist and punches the blob in the head. He'll find his neural implants and keep it. Now we can go back to the Pillar of Autumn. ******************************************************************************* MISSION OBJECTIVES -Escape via the shuttle bay This is going to be really difficult, but you can avoid most of this part. Head down the ramp and head left. Walk up to the door and it will open, BUT DO NOT ENTER it. A whole bunch of Grunts with Fuel Rod Guns and silver Elites will be waiting just for you. Now RUN to the left of the door to get out of their way. The Flood will also appear and the Covenant and Flood will start fighting once again. Just so they won't notice you, hide in one of the alcoves in this room. If the Flood comes near you, you can simply kill them. Now ride out the whole Covenant vs. Flood fight and wait for the winner. It's mostly the Flood this time who wins. Once there is a winner of this fight, get out of your hiding spot and take out the survivors. When everybody in this room are dead now, head to the door. There is a Health Pack next to the door, so pick it up. Now enter the door. Back in this hallway, head down the ramp and go through the opening to your right. In here, head straight and follow this hallway until you get to a door. When you get to the door, enter it. In this hallway, turn left and follow this hallway to an opening. Go through the opening and you'll be back at the third floor of the shuttle bay. There is a Silver Grunt and a Silver Elite across from you. Use whatever you can to get rid of them. Watch out for the Silver Elites, as they are very skilled at throwing Plasma Grenades. My best bet is to strafe to the left or the right when they throw one. If you need to, you can go back near the control room and get the other Health Pack that was there. Head into the third floor of the shuttle bay and kill the Elite and Grunt to your right. Use your Shotgun for close-up shots if needed, and go back into the previous hallway for protection. Wait for a Covenant dropship and two Banshees to enter the shuttle bay. When they do, notice the Elites getting out of the Banshees. Perfect. So we can use one of them to get out of here. But before jumping to the first floor of the shuttle bay and killing yourself, drop down to the platform of the second floor that is sticking out (if you can, try to land on a crate). You will most likely lose half your shields when you land. Hey, it's better than killing yourself over and over again. Now the dropship will be to your left and the Banshees will be on the lower floor to your right. Drop down to the floor to the right to get to the two Banshees. Get in one of them once you land. DON'T FIGHT THE COVENANT, IT IS A WASTE OF TIME AND THEY CAN KILL YOU EASILY. When you are in the Banshee, fly out of the shuttle bay and you have beaten this level. ******************************************************************************* CUTSCENE As you are flying out of here, Needler shots, Plasma bolts, and even ammo from stationary guns will fire at you. But being a cut-scene, all goes well and you fly out of the Truth and Reconciliation. ******************************************************************************* ------------------ Level 10: The Maw ------------------ -Destroy Halo before Halo destroys all life in the galaxy. We have gotten the Captain's neural implants, but he is now dead. So we can go back to the Pillar of Autumn and use the implants to blow up the Pillar of Autumn. The explosion should be enough to destroy Halo. You will notice you will be revisiting the first level again, but this time, you'll be going into new areas. Yep, Sentinals, Flood, and the Covenant are all here this time. ******************************************************************************* CUTSCENE You will see an angle of the ground with music playing. Then it turns to the Pillar of Autumn. This is where it crashed. Looks like it's in rough shape, but it will still be useful for us. Then you'll see the Banshee you used to escape from the previous level. As you are flying to the ship, the Banshee is starting to collapse. The Master Chief says we'll make it, and just as you get to the opening leading to the ship, the Banshee crashes right before the opening. But the Master Chief climbs up to the ledge like it was nothing and Cortana thinks he did that on purpose. ******************************************************************************* ...AND THE HORSE YOU RODE IN ON MISSION OBJECTIVES -Make your way to the bridge Here it is. The final level of Halo. This time, you'll start out with an Assault Rifle and Plasma Rifle. Start this level by getting out of the hallway you are in, heading out into the corridor. In this hallway, turn left and follow this hallway until you get to an opening. When you get to an opening, go through it and you'll be in the maze. Don't worry, this isn't as complicated as the first level. Just go through the opening to the left and follow the hallway to a ladder. Head down the ladder to the lower floor. Watch out for the Carrier Forms here, but the Sentinals should be currently fighting them. They also may be turning their attention to you as well. Get rid of the Carrier Forms and then go after the Sentinals. Sentinals are really sensitive to plasma explosions, so Covenant weapons and Plasma Grenades work really great against them. Once everybody here is dead, head into the opening and follow this hallway until you get to a group of Combat Forms. One of them will most likely have a Shotgun, so if you see it, kill the Combat Form and swap out your Plasma Rifle for a Shotgun. Dispose of everybody else with your Assault Rifle. Now continue to follow this hallway until you get to a locked door. Combat Forms will break it open. Toss at least one grenade into the hallway they came out of. If you need to, toss another one, and then finish them off with your weapons. One of them has a Shotgun, so use it for extra ammo or pick it up if you don't have one yet. Now go into the hallway they came out of. In this hallway, head straight and follow this hallway to a door. When you get to the door, open it and enter it. In front of you is an alcove with 3 dead Combat Forms, an empty Shotgun, 2 Health Packs, and a couple of Grenades. Also a soda machine. Too bad it doesn't work. The other important thing about this room are Hunters fighting Combat Forms. I'd take out the Combat Forms first and then go for the Hunters. Since this hallway isn't too wide, you'll need to be careful when shooting the orange spot in their back. Once both Hunters are dead, look for two openings. Both of them lead into the same room, so head into either one. Now you'll be in the cafeteria. This is probably the hardest part of the level. At the other end of the room are Grunts with Fuel Rod Guns and Silver Elites who can take you down in a matter of seconds. The Grunts will go down easily, just use any weapon or grenades to get them down. Elites on the other hand, are really annoying here. They'll throw Plasma Grenades submarine style at you, and my best bet is to strafe to dodge these. Also, if you're brave and skilled enough, get right in front of one of the Elites. 1 close up shot with a Shotgun can kill it, but you're risking plenty of health. If you need health, go back to the previous room and get a Health Pack. A more safer but longer way is to backtrack and find a Covenant Weapon (Plasma Pistol most preferred), and keep firing at them until they are dead, using whatever you can for protection. When all of the Elites are finally dead, head to the other side of the cafeteria. Turn left and you'll see an opening. Throw a Plasma Grenade into the opening and maybe an Elite will die from the explosion. Otherwise, head into the opening and finish the rest off with your Shotgun. Now head into the opening in front of you. Follow this hallway to the bridge. Right in front of the bridge is an Elite. Kill it quickly before it tosses a Plasma Grenade right at you. Head into the bridge, where you'll find Grunts with Fuel Rod Guns. Kill them and then head to the other side of the bridge where you met first met Captain Keyes. A cut scene will start. ******************************************************************************* CUTSCENE Cortana's hologram will appear and you'll see a countdown timer on the cracked board. This is the amount of time left before the Pillar of Autumn Self- Destructs. But the monitor will come in and you'll see him in the Engineering room. He's stopping the countdown and trying to take the core offline, but Cortana still has control over the COM Channels. She is detecting more movement around the ship, Sentinals most likely. After this, the Master Chief will ask how much firepower is needed to crack one of the shields. A well placed grenade can do the tick, so he tosses a grenade up and down. Cortana say she's coming with you. Then Sentinals will appear and try to attack you. ******************************************************************************* Ignore the Sentinals. They are a waste of time, health, and ammo, and we won't be coming back here again either. Take one last look at the bridge and then get out of here. Back in this hallway, turn left and follow this path to the opening you came from earlier. Pick up the Health Pack next to the opening and then go through it. MISSION OBJECTIVES -Get to engineering by way of cryo storage facility Back in this hallway, turn left. The door to you right leads back to the cafeteria, but we're not heading in that direction. Head straight until you see an opening to your right. The Flood will be right there, so kill them off with your Shotgun or toss a grenade into the huge group of Combat Forms. When they are all dead, head into the opening. In this room, you will find Assault Rifles and Shotguns all over the place, but they are empty. Head to the door at the other side of this room. When you get to the door, enter it. There is a Covenant vs. Flood fight here, but ignore them and head into the opening in front of you. In here, follow this hallway until you get to a door. When you get to a door, open it. In here, turn right and you will see a group of Sentinals. They think they're tough with their shields, but it still proves them useless. Take them out with a Covenant Weapon or a Plasma Grenade. Once they are dead, head into the area they are in. Next to you is a door that is half-open. Duck and slide under it to get past it. In this room, head into the opening next to you. Destroy the Sentinals in this hallway and then enter the door across from you. In here, jump over the ledge to the left and you'll be in another hallway. Turn left in here and you'll find a Health Pack in the corner, so pick it up. Besides the Health Pack, there is nothing else in this room, so jump over the same ledge. Back in this hallway, enter either door in front of you. You'll find Sentinals and Combat Forms fighting. The Combat Forms will pulverize the Sentinals, but just destroy each enemy one by one, as this area isn't too difficult. Once all of the enemies have been killed, enter the door and you'll be in the cryo tube. Head all the way straight to the other end of the room. Over here, turn right and you'll see a ladder, so climb up it. At the top of the ladder, turn right and follow the pathway to an opening. When you get to the opening, go through it. In here, head left into the next room. You'll find Sentinals and Combat Forms fighting. Kill off all of them. With your back to the opening you came out of, you'll see an opening to your right and left. Take the left opening, but take the Health Pack next to the opening. In this room, head up the ramp in front of you into the next hallway. At the top, toss a grenade to the other room. Hopefully it will kill off some of the Combat and Carrier Forms. Watch out, because one of the Combat Forms has a Rocket Launcher. When all of the enemies here are dead, go through the opening at the other end of this hallway. In this room, turn right and head to the other end of this room. There will be a door to your left, so enter it and you'll be in another maze. Turn on your flashlight because you'll really need it here. Follow this path to two openings. Take the left one and you'll get to two more openings. Take the right opening and you'll see a door across form you. Walk up to the door but don't enter it. The room in front of you have Elites and Hunters fighting Sentinals. Wait out this fight and the Flood will join in. The Covenant usually wins this fight. Enter the room and finish off the winners. Once everybody is finally dead, face the door you came out of. Head left and follow this hallway until you to a door. The door should have an arrow saying "Armory" in front of you, so enter this door. Now you'll be in the Armory. Stock up on Grenades and ammo, because you'll need them for the next part of the level. Pick up a Shotgun, Shotgun Shells, and swap out one of your weapons for a Rocket Launcher. Now pick up some Rocket Launcher ammo and leave this room. Just watch out for a cloaked Combat Forms in the armory. If you ever run out of ammo, come back to the Armory. Back in this hallway, turn right and follow this hallway until you see another door to your right. The door should have an arrow saying "Engineering" in front of it. Enter this door. In this hallway, follow it until you get to two openings. LIGHT FUSE, RUN AWAY Take the right opening and follow the hallway to a door and enter it. We're in engineering now. Also to mention that this area is the only area in the Pillar of Autumn that didn't get damaged when it crashed. Head up the ramp to your right. At the top, turn left and you'll see two panels to the left. Each of them both have two Health Packs, so if you ever need one, pick one up from here. Now head to the other end of the room. Over here is a door next to you, so enter it. In here, head up the ramp in front of you. At the top, follow this pathway to an opening and then enter it. MISSION OBJECTIVES -Use the controls on the third floor to retract an exhaust manifold Four NAV points will appear all of a sudden. All four lead to panels used to activate the fusion reactors. You'll be on the second floor of engineering. Head into the opening to the left. Follow this hallway to a door, killing the Combat Forms that appear. They may be tough, so use the grenades if you need to. When you get to the door, open it and you'll be on the third floor of Engineering. Two of the panels are on your right. Walk up to the first one and activate it. A pipe will open up in front of you. Jump onto the moving pipe. Now face the panel you activated. MISSION OBJECTIVES -Destroy the open vent core with a grenade or rocket The vent core is located in the opening the exhaust pipe came out of. It opens and shuts. When it opens, you'll see a bright red light. This is the fusion reactor. Using your Rocket Launcher, fire a rocket into it. If it explodes, the exhaust pipe you are on will close. Three more to go! So this means to jump onto the higher platform where the panel is. If you fall off the pipe onto the first floor, just work your way back to the third floor, and grab a Health Pack if needed. MISSION OBJECTIVES -Use the controls on the third floor to retract an exhaust manifold Once you're back at the third floor where you activated the first panel, go to the panel right across from the first one. Activate this panel and the exhaust pipe in front of you will move and reveal the fusion reactor. Jump onto it and face the little alcove the pipe came out of. MISSION OBJECTIVES -Destroy the open vent core with a grenade or a rocket It will open and close, revealing a red light when it is opened. With your Rocket Launcher, fire into the fusion reactor when it is opened. If it doesn't explode, fire again. Once it explodes, the pipe will close, so jump back onto the platform. If you can't reach it and you land on the first floor, get back up to the third floor. Two reactors down, two to go. MISSION OBJECTIVES -Use the controls on the third floor to retract an exhaust manifold Once you are back up at the third floor, turn left. You'll see an opening leading to the other side of Engineering, so enter it. In this area, there is a panel to your left and right. Just watch out for the Sentinals and the Flood. They will fight, but sometimes they will turn your attention to you. Either way, let's activate the panel to the left. MISSION OBJECTIVES -Destroy the open vent core with a grenade or rocket Now get on the pipe and face the opening it came out of. When the vent opens and you see the red light, fire a rocket into it to destroy it. Now get back on the platform. If you can't, just start at the first floor and work your way back up. Only 1 more to go! MISSION OBJECTIVES -Use the controls on the third floor to retract an exhaust manifold Once you're back at the platform, go to the last NAV point that is pointing to the panel. Destroy any Combat Forms or Sentinals and then activate the last panel. The pipe will open, so get on the moving pipe. MISSION OBJECTIVES -Destroy the open vent core with a grenade or rocket Destroying the first 3 reactors, you know the deal. The pipe will come out of the opening and that is where the reactor it located. When it opens and the glowing light is red, fire a rocket, it'll destroy, and the pipe will close. Now that we have all four reactors destroyed, a new NAV point will appear. MISSION OBJECTIVES -Get to the elevator on the third floor It is leading to a door near the first two reactors you destroyed. Pick up a Health Pack from the lower level before you go and RUN to the door and enter it. In this room, you'll find a door in front of you. Head into it. Keep going through a series of doors and you'll get to a hallway. Follow this hallway to a big opened and you'll find a lift will lower. If you still have some Rocket Launcher ammo left, fire at the floor of the lift to blow up the Elites and Grunts. Kill all of them off and get on the elevator. It will close and the lift will ride upward by itself. As you are heading up the lift, Cortana will signal in Echo 419 and call for evacuation. She will then explain how the ship is going critical at the moment. WARNING: HITCHHIKERS MAY BE ESCAPING CONVICTS MISSION OBJECTIVES Escape from the Pillar of Autumn before it's too late At the top of the lift, head into the opening next to you. In this room, head right and you'll get to a room loaded with Warthogs. To get into them, head into the alcove next to them and follow it to the driver's seat. Also pick up the Health Pack next to the Warthog you go into, because you'll really need it. Depending on the Warthog you got, get out of the alcove you are in and head right/left into an opening. A countdown will start. You have 6 minutes on Easy/Normal/Heroic and 5 minutes to get out of here on Legendary. That should be enough time if you don't goof off. This room should have a Warthog in a fire. Head left up the slope and run over the enemies if you want to. At the top of the slope, you'll be in a big room. There are several ways to get to the other side. I'm not going to list them, but just take the one you want. You can drive up the ramps, drive on the sides of the room, take the lower paths, or just drive straight. Just don't goof off. At the other end of the room, head through the opening. Drive down the slope and then at the bottom of this slope, drive up the one in front of you. At the top of the slope, you'll come to a room with The Flood and Sentinals fighting. Ignore all of them, just drive all the way straight. Go up the ramp, drive forward, and just get to the other end of the room. At the other end of the room, head into the opening and you'll be in a hallway. Drive through is hallway until you get to an opening, ignoring all of the Sentinals. Once you get to an opening, you'll be in another big room. Ignore the Sentinals and Flood fighting here. To get past this area, get to the right side of the room. Over here, just drive straight and you shouldn't have a problem getting to the other side of the room. Once you do get to the other side of the room, go through the opening. In here, drive up the slope and then head down it into another big room. Just drive all the way straight going up and down the slopes and you should have no problem getting to the other end of this room. If you need to, drive around the platforms and pillars, and run over the Grunts in the middle of the room if you want to. At the other side of the room, you'll see an Elite an a stationary gun and a Covenant dropship. Ignore both of them and go through the opening at the other side of this room. Cortana will signal in Echo 419 for immediate extraction. Drive straight through another opening and you'll drive to a lower floor. Head into the opening and you'll be in another room with a straight walkway. Get in the middle of it and watch a tragic scene. If you look left, you'll see the Pelican. Two Banshees have destroyed it and it will collapse right in front of you. You can skip this, but either way, head into the opening across from you. In here, head all the way straight to the opening at the other end of this room and then head through it. In here, head down a slope and you'll come to a twisted hallway. Nothing is in here except Grunts and Elites running away. Run them over if you want, because they won't notice you. At the end of the hallway, drive straight down the slope and you'll see Combat Forms come out of an opening. Ignore them, because the next part is very important. There is a huge gap coming up and you'll need to drive at full speed to clear it. At the gap, just DRIVE STRAIGHT AND DON'T TURN YOUR WARTHOG. If you went straight and at full speed, you made it. Drive up the next slope and drive across the gap. Now continue driving forward and you'll get to a tunnel. Just drive through this tunnel, keep driving straight and you'll get to the final room. There are barrels in front of you, so you can't use your Warthog. Get out of the Warthog, walk past the barriers, and the Glyder will be across from you. You'll also find more Covenant enemies and the Flood fighting, but IGNORE THEM. JUST RUN TO THE NAV POINT ACROSS FROM YOU. Head up the ramp and you have finished Halo! Congratulations! ******************************************************************************* CUTSCENE The Master Chief will barely make it and close the ramp. Now he'll use the ship he's in to get off of Halo. If you're on Legendary, you'll have a little bonus ending, but you can find it out yourself. When you get off of Halo, it'll explode and the Master Chief will get to see it happen. He will then ask Cortana if anyone else made it, and she'll come up with "Dust and Echos". Cortana will say it's over and the Master Chief will say we're just getting started. ******************************************************************************* And that is it. Hope you had fun. =============== 9. Multiplayer =============== This section will cover the rules of multiplayer and everything about it. To get to the Multiplayer menu, just go to the main menu and click on Multiplayer. You will be brought to a list of options asking how you want to connect. Here they are: JOIN GAME: Internet: When selecting this option, the game will first be checked for updates and see if your Halo version needs to be upgraded (most recent version is 1.07). Then it will show a server list of servers around the world that are currently online. It will show the server name, the type of game it is, the rules at the bottom of the screen, the number of people playing, and the user limit. LAN: Also known as Local Area Connection. Using this, you can connect to a server that is on a DIFFERENT computer connected in your house (that is also connected to a Router). Direct IP: Instead of browsing through all of the servers to get to a specific one, you can use this to enter the IP Address of the server you wish to join if you know it (or if someone gives it out to you). This can also be used for any server on the word. CREATE GAME: Internet: This will create a game for the internet out there where your server will be shown in the server list. You can create the name of your server, map, game type, and a lot more, which will be explained later in this section. LAN: Same as above, except that this server will be displayed on a different computer inside your house, not worldwide. Edit Gametypes: You can use this to edit the settings for your game. I will explain this at the end of this section. ------------------- Creating Your Game ------------------- When creating your game, (internet or LAN), your first option for your server will be the maps. Here are the list of the maps. Since I have not played through all of them, I will not give out the descriptions for each one. But if enough demand comes in, I'll try my best to give out the descriptions. -----------------|------------------|---------------------| MAP NAME |PLAYERS SUPPORTED | VEHICLES SUPPORTED | -----------------|------------------|---------------------| Battle Creek | 2-8 players | No | -----------------|------------------|---------------------| Sidewinder | 4-16 players | Yes | -----------------|------------------|---------------------| Damnation | 4-8 players | No | -----------------|------------------|---------------------| Rat Race | 2-6 players | No | -----------------|------------------|---------------------| Prisoner | 2-8 players | No | -----------------|------------------|---------------------| Hang 'Em High | 4-16 players | No | -----------------|------------------|---------------------| Chill Out | 2-8 players | No | -----------------|------------------|---------------------| Derelict | 4-8 players | No | -----------------|------------------|---------------------| Boarding Action | 4-16 players | No | -----------------|------------------|---------------------| Blood Gulch | 4-16 players | Yes | -----------------|------------------|---------------------| Wizard | 2-8 players | No | -----------------|------------------|---------------------| Chiron TL34 | 2-6 players | No | -----------------|------------------|---------------------| Longest | 2-8 players | No | -----------------|------------------|---------------------| Ice Fields | 4-16 players | Yes | -----------------|------------------|---------------------| Death Island | 4-16 players | Yes | -----------------|------------------|---------------------| Danger Canyon | 4-16 players | Yes | -----------------|------------------|---------------------| Infinity | 4-16 players | Yes | -----------------|------------------|---------------------| Timberland | 4-16 players | Yes | -----------------|------------------|---------------------| Gephyrophobia | 2-12 players | Yes | -----------------|------------------|---------------------| The table shows how many players it can hold and if it supports vehicles or not. So if you're not sure on which map to pick, you can use this table to find out how many players a map can hold for setting up your server and for knowing if it has vehicles or not. After you selected the map, you will be asked what type of game you want to play. Here are the different types of games you can choose from. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Slayer: This is the good old classic deathmatch for Halo. It takes 15 kills to win, so this is great for a quick round. You'll start out with a Pistol and have to search for other weapons and grenades around the map. This can be adjusted. Slayer Pro: Same thing as Slayer, except that you'll need 25 kills to win and you'll start out with Pistol, Assault Rifle and Grenades. Oddball: Hold the skull for 2 minutes to win. There will be a NAV Point leading to the skull. When picking up the skull, be warned that you cannot attack, so try to find a good hiding place when picking up the skull. Juggernaut: In this, the Juggernaut will be more powerful. If you kill the Juggernaut, you will take his powers. The first person to reach 15 kills will be the winner. King: There will be a certain point in any level that you have to control for two minutes in order to win. Get to that certain point and stay there as long as you can. If you are killed, you can go back to the hill and fight your opponent(s) for it. Crazy King: Same thing as King, except it's more challenging. Instead of being in one spot, the certain area you need to control for 2 minutes will randomly switch to a new spot every time. Don't worry, you won't lose any time you gained when you were standing in the spot. Race: In this, you have to clear 3 laps of touching the flag points in the game. So be quick and try to use shortcuts or a vehicle if needed. The first one to complete three laps of touching the flag points is the winner. Assault: I don't understand this one too much. The game says the teams will alternate between offense and defense every two minutes. It also says to carry the enemy flag to your base. First one to get 5 points wins. CTF: The old classic Capture the Flag, red vs. blue. You must go to the opposite base and capture their flag, escape from the base, return to yours, and return their flag. But you must have your flag at your base to score. You cannot attack while you have the flag, but you can attack if you get in the gunner/passenger seat of a Warthog. If you are killed, you drop the flag. If you try to fire, you drop the flag but you can pick it up. First team to score 3 points wins. Below are all team games, red vs. blue. To change your team, pause the game and switch between red and blue. Team Slayer: Only change in this is that your team must get 50 kills to win the game instead of 15/25. So hope your team has a lot of players and that you're a good killer. Team Oddball: Your team must control the skull for 2 minutes to win. But the catch is that you will respawn after 5 seconds instead of 3. Team Race: Not only must you make it 3 laps for all the flag points, but your whole team must do it in order to win. I hope your team doesn't have a bad player that will mess you up at the end. Team King: You must control the designated area for 2 minutes in order to win. If someone is there from the other team, then get rid of them so your team has the area all to yourself. But in Team Deathmatch, you will respawn after 10 seconds instead of 3. ---------------------------- Changing Your Game Settings ---------------------------- Of course, you can change the rules of the Game Settings anyway you want. To get to this, click Multiplayer and then go to Edit Gametypes at the bottom of the screen. The next page will be a list of the Multiplayer types (Slayer, CTF, etc). Select whichever one you want and it will bring you to a list of options to modify the settings. The options will be the same ones for all Multiplayer types. ************ Change Name ************ No, this doesn't have to do with changing your user name. You can just change the name of the Multiplayer type. You could change "Slayer" to "Hello" for all that matter. ************* Game Options ************* When selecting this option, you will get the 5 game types to change the settings. You can change the settings for Capture the Flag, Race, Oddball, King, and Slayer +++++++++++++++++ Capture the Flag +++++++++++++++++ Assault: This is an interesting option. If kept at no, then you will need to capture the enemy's flag and return it to your base. If you put it on yes, then it's the other way around. You must take YOUR flag and return it to the enemy base in order to score. Single Flag: If this option if off (the default), then each base will have its own flag. When turning this on, you can change it between 1, 3, 5, and 10 minutes. This makes it so that there is only one flag of the map. Every 1/3/5/10 minutes, offense and defense will alternate (like the red team trying to capture it and the blue team defending it and vice versa) so they will have a chance to get the flag and score. Flag Must Reset: This means that if the Flag Reset is on, then the flag will return to its rightful base after a certain amount of time, but this is customizable. If you keep this off, then you can walk over your flag to return it to your base. Flag at Home to Score: The name of this describes it all. If kept on no, you can take the enemy's flag and return it to your base to score, regardless of if the enemy has your flag or not. If you put this on yes, then you must have your flag in your base in order to score. Now that makes a more fair game. Captures to Win: Most Capture the Flag games put this on three. You can alternate between 1, 3, 5, 10, or even 15! 3 or 5 is pretty good, but 10 or 15 are for those who are big capture the flag fans. As said, this is how many scores you'll need to win. Time Limit: This is the amount of time you will have for the game. If time runs out before either team has gotten to the score limit, the game will end, and the team with more captures will win. You can alternate between 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, or 45 minutes for a time limit. Or you can just battle it out until one team gets to the capture limit and set it on no time limit. +++++++++++++++++ King of the Hill +++++++++++++++++ Moving Hill: No and Yes. No obviously means the hill will remain in one spot, and putting this one Yes would mean it alternates throughout random areas of the level. Score to win: Of course, the amount of time you need to accumulate in the hill can be customized. You can set this for 1 minute, 2, 5, 10, and even 15 minutes. 15 may get boring after a while, so hope you got a full server coming at you. Team Play: If on no, then it's every man for themselves. Yes means that there will be teams to control the hill. Time Limit: King of the Hill even has a Time Limit. You can set this to 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 45 minutes, or no time limit at all. If someone doesn't control the hill for the amount of time before the timer is up, then the game will end. +++++++ Slayer +++++++ Death Bonus: All this has is killing you makes you faster, which is kind of lame. Turning this off keeps you at the same running speed no matter how many times you have killed someone. Kill in Order: This is kind of a pointless option. Keeping it off means you can kill anyone you want in any order. But if you turn it on, you must kill the designated target for the kill to count. When you kill that person, the target shows to another player. Kill Penalty: This is the opposite of death bonus. If this is on, you will become slower and slower each time you kill someone. If turned off, then you will not lose any speed for killing someone. Kills to Win: Instead of using the standard 15 kills to win, you can lower or raise the kill limit to add more fun to the game. You can alternate between 5, 10, 15, 25, and 50 kills. 50 kills is a lot of fun to play on with when have at least 4 players. Team Play: Use this to turn teams on and off, as always. Time Limit: If no one gets the certain amount of kills by the time limit, the game ends. You can set this between 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, or 45 minutes. ++++++++ Oddball ++++++++ Trait with Ball: This can make Oddball more interesting. If this is set, the player with the skull can get different abilities. The player could become invisible, deal extra damage, or be more resistant when taking damage. Trait without Ball: The opposite of the above option. Using this option, people without the ball could deal extra damage, be more resistant or being invisible. I feel bad for that user with the skull. Speed with Ball: Using this, you can adjust the speed of the user who has the ball between slow, normal, and fast. Ball Type: This can control what kind of game Oddball will be like. If kept at normal, then you will need to hold the skull for a certain amount of time. If put on Reverse Tag, then the first person to kill someone will be "it". The person must be it for the designated time in order to win. If put on Juggernaut, then the first player to kill someone can score to win, and you can take over the Juggernaut by killing him. Ball Spawn Count: There can be more than one skull in Oddball, and it can be adjusted right here. You can have anywhere from 1-16 balls in the game, and they'll be scattered all over the place when playing. Sounds fun, eh? Minutes/Points to Win: This applies to Juggernaut, Oddball, and Reverse Tag. You can use this to adjust the minutes/points you'll need to win. You can adjust this between 1, 2, 5, 10, and 15 minutes. Team Play: Same thing as always, putting it on will have teams, off will not have teams. Time Limit: Sets time limit from 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 or 45 minutes for the game. If the time runs out before there is a winner, the game will end. +++++ Race +++++ Team Scoring: You can use this to adjust the rules of scoring. Putting it on minimum will use the user with the lower score, putting it on sum adds all the scores, and maximum will use the user with the highest score. Race Type: You can use this to change the way of Race. Putting it on normal means you need to touch the flags in order to get a lap. Any order means that you can touch the flags in any order for a lap. Putting it on Rally means you only need to touch one to get a lap. Laps to Win: Use this to adjust the amount of laps needed to win. You can have 1 lap, 3, 5, 10, 15, or 25. The more laps there are, the more boring the game will eventually get. Team Play: On for teams and off for no teams. Easy as that. Time Limit: 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, or 45 minute time limit. If the timer runs out and there isn't a winner yet, the game will end. Now, back to the other options *************** Player Options *************** Number of Lives: You can choose between 1, 3, 5, and infinite lives that you will get for the game. Keeping it on infinite (the default) means you can keep getting killed until the game is over or until time is ran out. Maximum Health: You can use this to set how much shields and health you will start out at the beginning of the level. You can start out with 50% (default), 100%, 200%, 300%, and 400% of normal. The higher you put it, the harder it is to kill someone. Shields: Use this to turn shields on and off for Multiplayer. Turning them off can get really annoying because you'll go down in one hit. Respawn Time: This setting will allow you to change the amount of time you will respawn after you have killed. You can set it to immediately, 5, 10, or 15 seconds. Respawn Growth: You can use this option to increase the spawn growth, which means that each time you die, it'll take longer than the last time to respawn. You can change it from 5, 10, and 15 second increase. But when you kill someone, you subtract 5/10/15 seconds from your respawn time. Odd Man Out: This setting is for turning Odd Man Out on and off. I'm not too sure on how this one works. Invisible Players: When this is off, players will not be invisible unless they find an Active Camouflage. When this is on, players will always be invisible even when they die. Suicide Penalty: This can increate the amount of time it takes for you to respawn if you kill yourself. You can set it between 5, 10, and 15 seconds. ************* Item Options ************* Unlimited Grenades: Turning this off will keep a limited number of both types of grenades, and putting this on gives you unlimited grenades, making the game more fun. Weapon Set: This can be used to adjust the weapons found in the game. Keeping it on Normal will just use the weapons found in that map, but you can change it to Shotgun, Heavy Weapons, Human, Covenant, Sniping, and other types. If put on let's say, Covenant, then only Covenant weapons will be found in the level. Starting Equipment: This can be used to customize the equipment you get at the start of the game. **************** Vehicle Options **************** Vehicle Respawn Time: Controls how long it takes for a vehicle to respawn back to its original location after it has been used. You can change it from 30, 60, 90 minutes, 2, 3, or 5 minutes, or you can just have vehicles not respawn at all. Vehicle Set: Use this to control the amount of vehicles that appear in each vehicle supported map. If put on default, then there will be 4 of everything (which means Banshees, Warthogs, Scorpions, Ghosts, Rocket Warthogs, and Stationary Guns), and if you put it on custom, a new set of options will appear below. You can also customize how many vehicles of each type appear in Multiplayer! You can have anywhere from 0 to 4 of any vehicle you want. You can also switch this option so only one vehicle would appear on the map. Here are the list of options. Default Custom Rocket Warthogs Warthogs Banshees Ghosts Gun Turrets Scorpions ****************** Indicator Options ****************** Objectives Indicator: You can use this to change the way objectives are indicated. You can set it to none, motion tracker, and NAV points. Other Players on Radar: With your motion tracker, you can use this to adjust what appears on your motion tracker, like all players, only friends, or even make it so no one would appear on your motion tracker. Friend Indicators on Screen: When put on yes, then a green arrow will appear above your ally's head, so you'll know which people not to shoot. If you put this on no, then no green arrows will appear over your ally's head. ***************** Teamplay Options ***************** Friendly Fire: This is just another way of saying "Team Damage". If you put this on yes, then you can damage/kill your teammates, and this can get really annoying. If you put this on no, then your allies can't be killed or hurt by anything you fire. Friendly Fire Penalty: If you kill one of your teammates, then you can use this to change the amount of time it takes for someone to respawn the next time they are killed. You can change this from 5, 10, 15 seconds, or have no penalties for when someone kills a friend. Auto Team Balance: You can use this so it will even out both red and blue teams. Putting it on no means someone can join either team they want without a problem, but if you put it on yes, then the teams will be balanced out. So if there were 6 players, it would be balanced out to 3 red players and 3 blue players. But with auto balance on, you can't switch teams if they are already even. ----------------- Multiplayer Tips ----------------- Here are some tips provided by me to hopefully help you out in Multiplayer. USING WEAPONS Using a weapon a certain way will determine how successful you are into killing your enemies. Each weapon has its own advantages against the enemy, but you just need to know the right way to use them. Pistol: A weapon that many new users will use. Its scope can be used to take out a distant enemy both cheaply and easily in a matter of 5-10 shots. It is also a solid weapon for close up combat. Assault Rifle: When you are fighting an enemy that's shields are not drained, this isn't a great weapon to fight with. It is great for melee attacks as it has a good range. But once you drain the enemy's shields, you can switch to this weapon and spray them down quickly. The Assault Rifle is great for fighting enemies when their shields are drained and for fighting enemies that are in any vehicle. Shotgun: You know the drill. Awesome when fighting close-up and a bad weapon when fighting from a far distance. Save the ammo you get for this until you get closer to an enemy. Then switch to this weapon and it should take 2 shots to drain their shields and another few to kill them. This is also great for fighting vehicles when they are close up to you, but don't try fighting Vehicles that are far away from you. Sniper Rifle: Another cheap weapon plenty of campers will use. The only change from the Xbox version is that its second zoom level goes 8x, not 10x. But it can wipe out your enemies in up to 4 shots at most. Its downside is that it is horrible at fighting someone in a vehicle unless you have a clear shot of their head. But if you are in a Sniper Rifle server, the best sniping spots are those behind rocks, hidden alcoves, or in many other places where the enemy won't usually spot you. Flamethrower: Never use this far away. Only use this up close, where it will take out your enemy in a matter of seconds. Rocket Launcher: You can have some fun with this weapon if you are playing in a Rocket Launcher only game. But since you are firing rockets, they can be inaccurate and can be dodged easily. Just strafe, jump, or get behind something if it's coming your way. Because of that, the best way to use this weapon is to fire at the ground close to the enemy. The rocket will still cause enough damage to kill the enemy, if not, bring him down to low health. If you have a direct shot at a vehicle, one shot can put the user in the vehicle to death. Plasma Pistol: Great for draining shields, but the charging after it makes it a poor weapon afterward. Charge up your shot, fire it at an enemy, and boom. Their shields will be drained in one hit, but you'll need to let your Plasma Pistol cool down. Either throw a grenade at the person, melee attack them to finish it off, or if you have a second weapon, change your weapon and use your second weapon to finish it off. If their shields are already drained, this can get rid of an enemy's health quickly. Plasma Rifle: Just don't fire this too quickly or else the battery will need to be cooled down before using it again. Fire this at a constant rate at the enemy until their shields are gone. You can either continue using this weapon to finish them off or switch to your second weapon to get rid of them. Either way works just fine, but this is not a great weapon when fighting groups of enemies. Needler: It was a great weapon in single player, but it is not as useful in multiplayer. The needles can be dodged a lot easier, making this a poor weapon for combat. But if you are a Needler lover, then just empty out a clip of needles at an enemy and watch them explode. But this is a great weapon to melee attack somebody. Other than that, I would keep away form this weapon in multiplayer. Fuel Rod Gun: Since this is new to use in the PC version of Halo, you'll need to get used to this weapon. You can fire multiple shots at a time before you need to recharge it, so use that as an advantage. But these can be dodged pretty easily, just strafe, jump, or hide behind something so you won't get hurt. Just like the Rocket Launcher, fire at the ground for more accurate hits. It is also a great weapon for fighting enemies in a vehicle. All you need to do is get a clear shot of the vehicle. USING VEHICLES Warthog: If you're in the driver seat and you're playing in a server with teams allowed, I'd get at least a gunner and maybe even a passenger to help you out to make life easier. Otherwise, you'll need to be a good Warthog driver when fighting the enemies. Just don't go up slanted hills or anything like that or you'll fall out of the Warthog. Try driving around the enemies to confuse them and then get close up to them and run them over. Because of the Warthog, attacks will do less damage to you, so use that as an advantage. Being in the passenger seat isn't the best place in the world to be in. First, your turning is limited. You can only look forward, left, and right, but not behind you. The other bad part is that if you turn left, the driver will be in your way, giving you less of a clear shot to enemies. So when you see an enemy, just fire at them the best you can and do what you can do to help out your team. Being in the gunner seat is a lot of fun. You'll have unlimited ammo and the gun turret can take anyone or anything down in a matter of seconds. Just wait until someone gets in range of the gun turret and then fire at them to get them down easily. The gun turret is also excellent for taking out anyone in any vehicle, including those in the Banshees. Rocket Warthog: The strategies for using a Rocket Warthog is the same as using a regular Warthog, but for when using the rocket launcher in the back, just get a clear shot into something and 1 hit can kill your enemy. If you're trying to attack an enemy on the ground, aim at the ground, not the enemy so you will have a better chance of hitting/killing them. After 3 shots, you'll need to reload, so keep that in mind. Ghost: Not a great thing to use in multiplayer, but it is good for getting from one area to another, whether it's from red base to blue base or wherever you're going. They are quick, but the plasma bolts are usually inaccurate, but do a decent amount of damage when they hit someone. If you're a pro at strafing, you can use the Ghost to take out people in Scorpions. Keep strafing and moving around in a circular direction to piss them off. Oh yes, just keep firing too. Ghosts can be tipped over easily when you're in them, so be careful when driving. Scorpion: Maybe you'll feel like the king of the world when you get into one of these. Driving around in a scorpion is a lot of fun. The missiles they fire are pretty accurate. All you need to do is get a nice shot on something and fire. When doing this, the enemy will get killed instantly if the shot hits the enemy. The missile is also great for taking out anyone in a VEHICLE in one hit, including those in other Scorpions or even Banshees. When firing a missile, it needs to be recharged, so use your machine gun. It is pretty weak and inaccurate, but it's nothing compared to a missile. Also in a Scorpion are 4 passenger seats. You can hop into one ONLY if there is someone in the driver's seat. But if you're in a passenger seat, the directions you can look in depend in the seat you're sitting in, giving you a huge disadvantage. Try not to get into the passenger seat if you really don't have to. Stationary Guns: Ugh. They may be in multiplayer in the PC version, but they are practically useless. Since they are stationary, they cannot move. This gives someone an awesome chance of killing you or even tossing a Plasma Grenade onto the stationary gun (it may even get onto you for all that matter). It may get rid of Covenant enemies in single player easily, but this can be dodged easily and it's only good if enemies are close up to you. Just don't use these if you see them. You have other and better ways of killing the enemies. Banshees: Banshees don't need much skill to use. That's why you'll see a lot of Banshee freaks during Multiplayer. But if you want to join them, get in one and fly around. Don't fly around in a straight direction, because this gives someone in a Scorpion or with a Rocket Launcher a chance of destroying you. Banshees do not have health in Multiplayer, so it will not be destroyed if you are killed. The Fuel Rod Gun missile the Banshees have are great for taking out enemies in vehicles, but it needs to recharge after being fired. It is not a great thing to use against marines on the ground, as it won't kill them directly and they can easily dodge it. Use the plasma bolts in the Banshee to take out marines on the ground. USING GRENADES Fragmentation Grenades: Great things to use in player-to-player combat. When using these, throw them at the ground close to the enemy. If they're at full health, a direct hit will drain their shields and leave them with 3 health bars left. But these are great for finishing off enemies. If there are any walls or anything else around, you can use the walls to have the grenades bounce off of them to the enemies. These grenades are not good for fighting enemies in vehicles. Leave that to the Plasma Grenades. Plasma Grenades: The complete opposite of a Fragmentation Grenade. Poor in player-to-player combat, great when fighting enemies in vehicles. If you try throwing these directly at a player, they can dodge it easily. You'll need to get pretty lucky to get this onto a player, which would kill them instantly. But when you see someone in a vehicle, that's where these grenades come in handy. Just get closer to the vehicle, and since they are big, you have a bigger target to throw the grenade at. These are especially great for those in Scorpions. Once stuck onto a vehicle, it will blow up, killing the players in the vehicle. ==================== 10. PC/Xbox Changes ==================== This section will cover the changes and differences between the Xbox and PC version. Although there are not many, here they are. -There are new multiplayer items. First off, two new weapons are the Flamethrower and the Fuel Rod Gun (the weapon the Grunts use late in the game). The Fuel Rod gun can do serious damage, so watch out if it hits you. As for the Flamethrower, it can hurt you up close, so be careful using it. There is also a new weapon, the rocket Warthog, only found in Multiplayer. It's the same thing as a normal Warthog, except that it has a rocket launcher in the back instead of the gun turret. And when you fire it, you need to recharge it. I like the original Warthog better. -And because this is a PC game, many things are fully customizable, such as the turning sensitivity and so on. You can customize the controls any way you want, and you can customize the sound and video settings. -Because of using computers, multiplayer is no longer split-screen. So just like single player, you'll have the whole monitor screen to yourself. -Other Multiplayer upgrades in this game are that unlike the Xbox version, you can use Banshees and Stationary Guns during Multiplayer. Just watch out for those annoying Banshee freaks. -One of the few step downs for this game is that there is no Cooperative play. It was removed and I don't know why. So fans of cooperative won't be too happy, so all you have are deathmatch games. Thanks to Travis Combs on this one. That's all I can think of for now, because as I said, there aren't too many changes between this and the Xbox version. =========================================== 11. Overshield/Active Camouflage Locations =========================================== This section will provide locations to any over shields or Active Camouflages that I have found throughout the game. If I miss any, you can always email me the locations and I'll be more than happy to add them and credit you. Now, to describe the two sets of items. Over shield: This looks like a red sphere surrounded in a cube. Picking this up gives you two layers of shields. The first shield layer is red and the second is green. When your green shield layer is depleted, it'll move onto your red shield layer. Once your red shield layer is depleted, then you'll be back at your standard blue shields, so this can be really useful as extra protection when fighting the enemies. Be warned, however, that a charged Plasma Pistol shot from a Jackal will still drain your shields completely. An explosion can still kill you even if you do have an over shield, or even weaken your health. The other thing is that you cannot pick up an over shield while your current one is stilled active. Active Camouflage: There a blue spheres surrounded in a triangle, and these can be useful if you keep quiet and not fire your weapon. While you are camouflaged, enemies won't be able to see you unless you fire your weapon or bump into them. But you can use this to kill Elites in one hit, by walking around them and melee attacking their back. Don't try melee attacking them in the front, because they'll recognize you and attack you. And don't get into the middle of a big fight when your invisibility is about to wear off, because you'll be in a world of hell. Now, onto the locations. ------------------------------ Level 1: The Pillar of Autumn ------------------------------ Over shields: 4 Active Camouflages: 0 Over shields 1 and 2: Just after you get past the bridge and the cafeteria area, head past the hallways until you get to two marines in front of the airlock entrance. It will explode, Covenant enemies will come out of the opening, and there are two over shields at the other end of the airlock. Over shields 3 and 4: Same thing with the first two. As you progress throughout the level, you'll eventually come to another airlock, located just before the annoying staircase where the Grunts and Elites come from all directions. Two over shields are in the airlock, and when your first one runs out, just head back to the airlock to pick up your second over shield. -------------- Level 2: Halo -------------- Over shields/Active Camouflages: None that I know of right now I'm pretty sure there are no active camouflages or over shields in this level, but I may recall an Active Camouflage being in the level somewhere. If I am right or wrong on this, email me and I will add it. -------------------------------------- Level 3: The Truth and Reconciliation -------------------------------------- Over shields: 1 Active Camouflages: 2 Over shield 1: This won't be until you get inside the cruiser. Once you finally get to the first floor of the shuttle bay, the over shield will be located at the other side of the shuttle bay next to a crate. You should use this after the door is locked when the two Hunters are dead. Active Camouflage 1: This one will be located before you get inside the cruiser. It is in the big area BEFORE the gravity lift. To get to this, just head up the middle path when you get to the area and it'll be directly across from you. Active Camouflage 2: This one is inside the cruiser. To get to it, you'll need to progress into the hallway AFTER the control room. There are two opened doors in this twisted hallway, both leading to cells. The first one leads to an empty cell room and the second cell room has the Captain. But the Active Camouflage is in the first cell room. When you get to the cell room, head to the other end of the room and it'll be right behind the control panel used to open up the cells. --------------------------------- Level 4: The Silent Cartographer --------------------------------- Over shields: 6 Active Camouflages: 1 Over shields 1 and 2: Once you get to the middle of the island, you'll get to a big area with a structure in the middle. Two Hunters are also in this area. Both over shields are next to crates right next to the structure. If you lose your first one, then get the second one. Over shields 3, 4, and 5: These ones are found just before you enter the building that leads you to the switch which unlocks the door at the beginning of the level. All three are right outside the entrance to the building. Grab one before you go in and grab one after you come out of the building. Over shield 6: After you get inside the second structure, you'll find this over shield right next to a crate before you get to the room with the Silent Cartographer. You'll surely need this one after all of the work. Active Camouflage 1: As you progress throughout the building getting to the Silent Cartographer, you'll get to an area with two doors right next to each other. Facing both of them, the door on the right leads you further into the building while the left one takes you to a small room with an Active Camouflage inside. ------------------------------------- Level 5: Assault on the Control Room ------------------------------------- Over shields: 0 Active Camouflages: 2 Active Camouflage 1: To get to this one, you'll need to get to the area with the Scorpion. Now head into the tunnel leading into the next area. At the end of the tunnel, head up the hill and head all the way straight into the next area (the last area where you find the marines in this level). Head down the curved slope and then you'll come to a set of bars in front of an opening. The openings between the bars are too small for your Scorpion to fit through them, but big enough for you to get past them. The Active Camouflage is to the left of these bars. Active Camouflage 2: This one is tricky to explain. After the first one, you'll head back inside, up a lift, and onto the twin bridges. After you get past the two bridges, you'll eventually get to a room with two Hunters in the room. The hallway before the two Hunters has an alcove to the left. In the alcove, there are a few poles sticking out of the wall. An Active Camouflage is behind one of them, and this may be tricky to spot. -------------------------- Level 6: 343 Guilty Spark -------------------------- Over shields: 1 Active Camouflages: 2 Over shield 1: After you release the Flood, get out of the room and head up either of the two ramps. Now go through the opening. Instead of taking the path below you, enter the door to your right. Eventually you will get to a lift. Head down the lift and at the bottom, you'll see crates blocking an opening. Jump on top of the crates and you'll find the over shield at the top. Active Camouflages 1 and 2: Just after the over shield, head into the opening that isn't blocked by crates. Now in the next room, you'll find both Active Camouflages to your right. --------------------- Level 7: The Library --------------------- Over shields: 1 Active Camouflages: 0 Over shield 1: This is located before you get to the first elevator of this level. You will find it in a pit with a ramp just before you get to the first set of Sentinels in this level. Pick it up because you'll really need it. ----------------------- Level 8: Two Betrayals ----------------------- Over shields: 0 Active Camouflages: 0 Nothing in this long, painful level to at least help you out. --------------- Level 9: Keyes --------------- Over shields: 2 Active Camouflages: 1 Over shield 1: After you fall into the big pit and out of the cruiser, progress your way to the gravity lift. Before crossing the coolant to get to the gravity lift, you'll find an Over shield next to the coolant. Over shield 2: Once you get back inside the ship, head through the hallways until you get to a big room where Cortana goes "Look, in the corners. The Flood are gathering bodies here". Once you get here, head to the lowest floor where the Flood is. Next to one of the locked doors is an over shield, but beware: a door will open just to your right, revealing plenty of Combat Forms for you to deal with. Active Camouflage 1: From the start of the level, enter the door across from you. In this hallway, you'll see a Grunt being chased by a Combat Form. Open the door they came out of and you'll find an Active Camouflage. This will be useful for the upcoming part of the map. ------------------ Level 10: The Maw ------------------ Over shields: 1 Active Camouflages: 0 Over shield 1: After you get to the bridge, continue the game until you get to the Cryo Tube area where the Sentinals are fighting the Flood. Climb up either ladder and head into the opening across from you. In this room, go through the opening to your left. Head up the slope and then get to the opening at the other end of the room. In here, you'll go through a dark maze, so use your flashlight. At the end of the maze, you should be facing an opening. There should be a passage to your right. Follow it to an over shield. If you notice your motion tracker, there may be plenty of red dots which are infection forms of the Flood. ============ 12. Secrets ============ This section will cover the neat secrets you can find in this game. Extra Ending: Beat the Maw on the Legendary difficulty. Instead of seeing the Master Chief fly out of the Pillar of Autumn, you'll see an additional scene which is pretty cool. See for yourself so I don't spoil it for you. 343 Guilty Spark Tricks: At the beginning of the level, when Foehammer goes "the last transmission from the captain's dropship was from this area. That was over 12 ours ago", start hitting your grenade button like crazy. If you throw one grenade in success before being dropped off, you'll still hang in the dropship. Now, it'll continue to fly and crash into a secret area, which is a high plateau. If you look around this area, you'll find a lone marine who does absolutely nothing, but will talk if you shoot him. Another thing to note on this plateau is that you can get to the area where you see Assault Rifles shooting at the Covenant. If you get there quick enough and zoom into the gunfire with your Pistol, you'll notice there are no marines. They are Assault Rifles floating in the air and when they stop shooting they drop to the ground. Also, if you look real carefully when crossing the log formed as a bridge in the beginning of the level, get to the stationary gun. Now you'll see something come out of a tree. If you have a keen eye, zoom in with your Pistol and you may see a Combat Form early in the game! Shoot it down and if it gets up, it'll run away, something Covenant enemies normally don't do. Thanks to filaria for this. Attacking soldiers in the Pillar of Autumn: After you meet Captain Keyes, he'll give you an empty Pistol. When you get ammo for it, go back to the bridge and kill him. Cortana will call in for the troops to kill you at the bridge. These soldiers have extra armor so they cannot be killed. Watch out, they'll take you out quickly so you'll need to run from them. If you think you have a secret that should go in here, email me and I'll see what I can do. ============ 13.
