Where is he? A - After Yafutoma, your title will change to "Vyse the Fallen Pirate", and there will be a bounty on your head at the Sailor's Guild. At this point, you should be able to find Vize standing in front of and to the right of the ruined palace in Nasrad. A lot of people have said that he isn't there for them, and it seems that your normal title must be Daring or higher. Fight some more, or advance the story and return. Q - What are the differences between this game and the Dreamcast version? A - There are fewer random battles, the music quality isn't quite as good, they added the Bounty Hunting, there are 24 new discoveries, all of the Dreamcast downloads are already installed (although you can't buy the Tuna Cutlass or Swirlmarang from the Mystery Merchant), there are new titles, the back-story is revealed through the Piastol/Moonfish side quest, and the Pinta Quest was removed. Q - What is this Prophecy Attack that I keep hearing about? A - Once you get your own ship, you will have access to two extra-special moves, Prophecy and Blue Rogues. Both can be activated when you max your SP. Prophecy is a group attack done by all four group members, thus everyone must be ready to take a command (can't be unconscious, confused, or petrified). Blue Rogues is an attack made by your crew, and it's strength depends on your crew. Characters with a blue background (during the attack) do damage, while the ones with a red background heal you. Q - Should I use my Captain's Stripes on the Little Jack, or save them? A - Use them on the Little Jack, unless you want a challenge. Captain's Stripes are more of a testament to Vyse's skill, than the ships abilities, thus they affect any ship that Vyse flies. Q - What's the difference between Chams, Abirik Chams, and Choms? A - Chams evolve Cupil slowly; he must eat a certain number to reach his next form. Abirik Chams cause Cupil to move straight to his next form, and depending on when he eats them, he may take a different evolution path. Choms cause Cupil to regurgitate any Chams that he ate. He will return to his first form, and the Chams will return to your inventory. Choms may not sound useful, but you can use them to correct previous mistakes, or get Cupil to evolve a different way. Currently, I do not have a chart for Cupil's evolution, but I am working on one. Q - Where is a good place to level up? A - Normally the place with the hardest monsters. However, there are some notable spots. The first is around the Looper's Nest discovery. You can reach it once the Delphinus can fly through Stone Reefs. This area is nothing but Loopers. The problem is that Loopers like to run, so equip a Black Map to make it hard for them. The other problem is that Loopers are evasive, and resistant to magic. Because of this, you should try attacking with S-Moves. Aika's and Fina's S-Moves are useless here, but Vyse's Rain of Swords will clear the lot, for 14 SP. The other good way to level is by fighting Elcian. Elcian is a black Looper that can be found inside the Dark Rift (enter from the Yafutoma side). He is strong, but he awards tons of experience and magic experience. He can be fought over and over, if you leave and re-enter the Dark Rift. Q - Where do I find ? A - If you have to ask this question, then you aren't enjoying the game to it's fullest, or you are rushing. The game will give you directions to most of your destinations, and the rest can be found through exploration. When you get a new feature (like the Harpoon Cannon or the ability to fly through sky rifts), you should abuse it. Go everywhere the game will let you, as soon as you can. Some places though, I'll admit, are hard to find. Ryu-kan's Island - Far to the North of Yafutoma, between the Dark Rift and sky rift in the Southeast corner of the map, at normal altitude. Altitude: Middle Sky / 50% Coordinates: (14, 11) Ilchymis' Hut - In the ocean North of Valua, over the black spot on the map, in the upper sky. Altitude: Upper Sky / 40% Coordinates: (8, 2) Hamachou Island - Over the center of the Dark Rift, in the upper sky. Altitude: Upper Sky / 50% Coordinates: (11, 11) If you still can't find a place, even after exploring all of the map available at the time, I will try to help. Q - Where do I find ? A - Each of those has it's own complete section; check there. The locations on the discoveries are pretty basic, I know. I am planning to add a lot more info for them when I play again, but I've got a lot of schoolwork due soon, so it may be a while. So, I will answer any discovery questions you may have in the meantime. Q - Where do I find ? A - If they can be bought, you will find them in my Shop Lists. If they are in a chest/dungeon, you can find them in the walkthrough. If you get the from Maria's bird, it will be in the Side Quest Section, and if it is found after a boss/ship battle, you will find it listed as spoils. Otherwise, it is dropped randomly. Don't worry too much; you will get most items when it is the right time. Q - Am I strong enough to beat ? A - If it is a boss, then just make sure that you are strong enough to beat the monsters in that area. Bosses are meant to be tough, and it may take a few attempts, but just keep trying. If you still can't beat them, then level up. If it's a bounty, than fight it at whatever level you are on. Bounties get stronger as you get stronger. The only thing you can do is learn more magic or S-Moves. Bounties are the hardest battles in the game, so if you are having trouble, try to come up with a new strategy. I beat all the bounties as soon as I found them, so it is possible. ----Gameplay Tips---- * NEVER run from battles. This will lower your rating, and may cause unexpected problems. * Before you do what you are suppose to, do everything else. If you are suppose to visit a new land, explore it before landing anywhere. Find all the discoveries you can and get used to fighting the local monsters. * Learn and abuse Aika's S-Moves. Until you can use Rain of Swords on the first round, Lambda Burst and Omega Psyclone are great for clearing out large amounts of weak enemies. * Find discoveries as soon as possible. This will prevent Domingo from finding them first, put extra money in your pocket, and get you ready for your next challenge (level wise, at least). * Don't worry too much about your weapon's color. Set it to the color of the magic you want to learn, and don't change it unless you are doing little or no damage. * Prophecy is great, until you get Pirate's Wrath. As Vyse gets stronger, Pirate's Wrath becomes more useful. Prophecy however, can't be blocked, and is like a free turn. * Recruit your crew as soon as possible. This isn't too crucial, but they can be useful early on. * Use items. Healing crystals and glyphs are great, and don't use SP. It will drain some of your money, but you shouldn't have money problems in this game. * I love the White Map. It's great, but if you want to fight Air Pirate Vigoro, you will have to do some catch up fighting. This doesn't have to be bad, but it can be time consuming / dispiriting. It took me a month to fight all those extra battles (I wasn't playing for most of that month). * There are no random battles in the Upper Sky and Lower Sky. Just FYI. * Ilchymis sells seeds, once you upgrade his shop... Seeds permanently boost stats... Need I go on? I recommend the Paranta Seeds, for Vyse at least. * Talk to everyone. This is true for all RPGs, this one included. Sometimes, people will give you stuff if you talk to them after an event. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------Section 3: Walkthrough (sa_walk)----------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After the opening scenes, you will find yourself in battle with two Soldiers. Play around with the buttons some, to get acquainted with the controls, then dispatch the two wimps. After some more dialogue, you will find yourself inside Alfonso's ship. ----Alfonso's Ship---- Items: Sacri Crystal x3, 50 gold, Magic Droplet x2 The first thing that you will see is chest, open it to get a Sacri Crystal, then exit through the door. Down the hall, and in the next room, you will encounter Alfonso, who will send four guards to attack you. They are weak, so take them out, and continue on. There is a chest with two more Sacri Crystals, on the bottom floor, grab them. Head up the stairs, and Alfonso will run. Grab the chest up here for 50 gold, then make your way to the door. There is a switch near the door, flip it and the alarms will turn off. In the next room, you will find a chest with two Magic Droplet. Get them, and save at the save point. One door is locked, so take the other, and work your way to the lower room. You will see Alfonso's true colors, before he orders his pet to attack you. --Boss: Antonio-- Spoils: Moonberry Antonio isn't too strong, but he does have one attack that can do almost 200 damage. If your Hit Points drop below 200, heal. Otherwise, have both characters attack, and use Vyse's Cutlass Fury when you have enough SP. After you win, the ship will be yours. But, being the nice pirates you are, you only take the treasure, then let the soldiers leave. Back on your ship, you will introduce yourself to Fina, who has just awoken. Choose "That's a great name" for a swashbuckling boost. Dyne will call you to the bridge. Speak to him, then to Briggs, and you will be able to fly a ship for the first time. ----Mid Ocean---- Take some time to become familiar with the controls, then make your way home. At this point, you can find Discovery 1. If you need some help, check the Discoveries Section. Oh, and if you see some fish flying around, fly into them, you may be able to pick some up. Not terribly useful right now, but it's good practice. Make your way to Pirate Isle when you are done finished exploring. ----Pirate Isle---- Items: 150 gold, Sacri Crystal x6, Moonberry, Magic Droplet x2, Purple Moon Stone, Sacres Crystal x2 Right away, Dyne will want to talk to Fina. Bring her to him, and they will have a conversation. Choose "Sit quietly and listen." for a swashbuckling boost. Afterwards, examine the bookcase in Dyne's room to reveal a path to 150 gold. Head up to the town, and Aika will go home for a minute. Head over to Aika's house (the one past the dojo), and examine the handkerchief on the wall for a quick scene. Then, feel free to explore the town. Speak to Alan, and choose "Sure, you can become a sailor." for a swashbuckling boost. There are three Sacri Crystals behind the farm, three more on the lookout, and two Magic Droplets on the dock. Examine the stone tablet to find a hidden passage, and a Moonberry. Talk to the guys at the dojo for a combat lesson, and speak to Jimmy to play a game of hide-and-seek. When you are done, head to your house. Since you have some time before dinner, Aika will suggest watching the sunset. Climb up to the lookout, and you will see a Moonstone crash on a nearby island. After a quick conversation, you will head home, and a new day will start. Before heading out, speak to your father for the Purple Moon Stone, and your mother for two Sacres Crystals. Meet up with Aika, stock up on healing crystals, save, then head to the dock. Board your small ship, and head off for Shrine Island. It should be easy to find, it's North of Pirate Isle. ----Shrine Island---- Items: Sacri Crystal x2, Moonberry, Sacres Crystal x2, Raw Moon Stone This is the first real dungeon, and it can be tough. Head straight into the temple, and you will see the Moon Stone. You only have one path, so head up the stairs and out the door at the top. Up here, you will see a crystal. Touch it and the shrine will sink a level. Grab the chest to the right for two Sacri Crystals, then go back inside. Head all the way back to the first entrance, and go through, and you will find yourself beneath the shrine. This next part is pretty straight forward. Run around the outside of the shrine, until you reach a door with water leaking out. Open it, and you will have access to a new section of the dungeon. To your left will be a door that leads to a Moonberry, grab it, return to the previous room, then head up the stairs. Go out the door at the top, and follow the path back inside. Pass the door, in the next room, and grab the chest for two more Sacres Crystals. Take the door to the outside, and head down the path until you reach the save point. Save, then open the last door to empty the last of the water from the shrine. Through the door, you will find the Moon Stone, and a boss. --Boss: Sentinel-- Spoils: Moonberry This guy has a decent amount of hit points, an attack that can do 350 damage, and a high counter-attack rate. That being said, keep your health up, and abuse the Cutlass Fury. Three of those, along with normal attacks, should end this for you. After you win, you will acquire the Raw Moon Stone. A scene later, you will be standing outside the shrine. Leave, and head back for Pirate Isle. ----Pirate Isle---- Nothing is waiting here for you, except destruction and bad news. You have to go save your father, so choose "Try and save everyone." for a swashbuckling boost. After a rest, head to your ship. Speak to Lindsi and Choose "Sure, I promise." for a swashbuckling boost. Board you ship, and head for Valua. ----Mid Ocean---- Items: Blue Moon Stone, Moonfish Vyse doesn't have much luck. Just past Shrine Island, you run into trouble. When you spot the Arcwhale, choose "Retreat!" for a swashbuckling boost. However, you won't be able to get away in time. After your ship is destroyed, you awaken on the ship of a man with a metal arm. Drachma will introduce himself, and demand that you work for the time you are going to spend on his ship. After doing his chores, you will have a chance at the wheel. Drachma will now join you, and allow you to use his Blue Moon Stone. Head through that big hole in the rocks, and you will meet Doc on the other side. Doc will give Vyse a new lens for his eye patch. This allows you to find Moonfish, which like to live in populated areas. We know a populated area, Pirate Isle. Head back there, and get the Moonfish. Check the Moonfish section if you need help finding it. Bring the Moonfish to Doc, and you will be rewarded with a Riselem Crystal. Before docking at Sailor's Island, find Discovery 2, then, dock at Sailor's Island. ----Sailor's Island---- Items: Repair Kit x3, Moonfish x2, 200 gold, Note in a Bottle Drachma will abandon you here, so see what the town has to offer. Report your discoveries at the guild, and grab the chest near the boxes of maps, next to the guild. Grab the two Moonfish here, and the Note in a Bottle from the lighthouse. Someone left 200 gold in their room at the inn, so liberate it, and update your equipment. When you are re-supplied, visit the Ship Parts store for a hot tip. Stop by the bar to tell Drachma, but choose "Beat around the bush." for a swashbuckling boost, and he will agree to take you to Valua. But, now you need a passport. Ask the guy at the Sailor's Guild about them, and a merchant there will offer you his, if you protect him. Choose "We accept your offer." for a swashbuckling boost, and return to your ship. ----Mid Ocean---- Items: Valuan Passport Before you head to Nasrad, drop off the two new Moonfish with Doc. You will be rewarded with a Warrior's Rune, and Flame Mantle (both are very good). Head to Nasrad, which is mostly East, and you will encounter Baltor, and his ship the Blackbeard. --Ship Battle: Blackbeard-- Spoils: Captain's Stripe, Bomb This is your first ship battle, and it's relatively easy. Use this time to learn the ins and outs of ship battles. Hit Baltor with your strongest attacks, and heal when you need to. Aika has the most MP, so use her if you cast a healing spell. Use Drachma to fire the Standard Cannon and use the Main Cannon with Vyse. After a few shots, Baltor will retreat. After the fight you will get a Captain's Stripe. This raises the stats of your ship. Go ahead and use it now, as it carries over to your next ship. Head to Nasrad, and the merchant will reward you with a Valuan Passport. Head back to Sailor's Island if you want. You can claim the bounty for Baltor, and re-supply. When you are ready, head into Valua. ----Valua---- Items: Sacres Crystal x2, Moonberry When you arrive Drachma will leave to oversee the ship's modifications. Check out the shops, and grab the two Sacres Crystals behind the gate. Head toward the elevator, and you will meet Marco. After a conversation with him, use the elevator and head down. The first building you will see is the inn, but don't rest yet. There is a Moonberry in one of the buildings here. Take the path behind the barrels to reach it. After you grab it, go to the inn and rest. Don't worry if you spent all you money on new gear, Drachma is paying for the room. When Drachma arrives, you will make a plan to free your friends. Choose "Let's sneak in." for a swashbuckling boost. Unfortunately, after you make your plan, you will discover an eavesdropper. Vyse will chase him over the rooftops. If you manage to catch him, he will drop a Sacri Crystal. When he reaches the sewers, you will grab him. You will decide to use the sewers to reach the Coliseum, and release Marco. The next day, you must enter the Catacombs. ----Catacombs---- Items: Curia Crystal x3, Pyri Box, Assassin Blade, Heavy Armor, Sacri Crystal x4, Magic Droplet x4, Yellow Moon Stone This place is pretty straightforward. Just head down the path until the first intersection. Take a left here for three Curia Crystals and a Pyri Box, then return to the main path. Go straight at the next intersection, and grab the Assassin Blade and Heavy Armor, before returning to the trail. A little further in, and you will reach a room with a save point. Save, and continue on to see the first boss. --Boss: Bleigock-- Spoils: Vidal Seed This fight isn't too hard. Keep your HP up, and use a Curia Crystal if you get poisoned early in the fight. Keep attacking until you can use Cutlass Fury or Tackle. Three or four of those should grab you a victory. After the fight, heal and save again. Trust me. When you are ready, break into the Coliseum. You will free your friends, but you will have to fight to get away. --Boss: Executioner-- Spoils: Electri Box This fight can be hard if you are unprepared. The Executioner is accompanied by two Spell Wardens. As you might think, it's best to take the wardens down first. These nuisances cast Increm on the Executioner, raising his attack power. Focus your attacks on one at a time. You should be able to take one out the first round, and the other on the second. After that it's just a matter of staying alive. Like always, hit the Executioner with your strongest attack, and keep your HP up. With a little patience and luck, you will be victorious. Return to the save point room, and exit through the new path. Grab the chests for some extra Sacri Crystals and Magic Droplets. Then speak with Dyne to learn that Fina is being held at the palace. Choose "We have to save Fina." for a swashbuckling boost. Dyne will give you the Yellow Moon Stone, and you will leave to save Fina. Follow the path to the end, and you will reach Upper Valua. ----The Train---- When you reach Upper Valua, you will see Fina being loaded onto a train. After jumping onto the train, you will have to fight your way to the front to rescue Fina. After the first fight, Galcian will board the train behind you. You have to reach the front before he catches you, but he moves so slow that it should be easy. When you reach Fina, you will have to defeat two Royal Guards. They aren't too strong, but they use healing items, so be careful. After you beat them, Galcian shows up. Choose "Never." for a swashbuckling boost, and you will be rescued by the Little Jack. Before you can make it out of the country though, you have to blast your way through a cruiser. --Ship Battle: Valuan Cruiser-- You have a new toy for this fight, and while you don't really need it to win, you might as well use it. Focus or defend for the first turn. Once you have 15 SP, use your Harpoon Cannon; one shot secures your victory. After you escape from Valua, you will return, automatically, to Pirate Isle. ----Pirate Isle---- Items: Silver Moon Stone, Moonfish, Cham Here, Fina will finally tell you about her mission to collect 6 Moon Crystals. Choose "Leave everything to us." for a swashbuckling boost, and you will help Fina. Fina will introduce her pet and weapon Cupil, and you will decide to head out. Once you are in control again, you will be right next to a Moonfish. Catch it, then head to the underground port. When you enter, Cupil will alert you to the presence of a Cham. Grab it, then board the Little Jack. You now have a lot of things that you can do. ----Mid Ocean---- Items: Cham Stop by Shrine Island for your second Cham. Directions are in the Cham section, if you need them. East of Shrine Island (through the reef) you will find Discoveries 3 and 4. After you have found those, head toward Sailor's Island. Deliver your Moonfish to Doc, for a Gem of Fluidity. You can now also find Discovery 76. Find it and return to Sailor's Island. ----Sailor's Island---- Items: Black Spot, Cham Report everything you have found to the Sailor's Guild. The Guild master will give you a Black Spot, which, if you examine, gives you directions to the Angel of Death. Before you head out though, grab the Cham here, and visit the shops, which have new items for sale. When you are done, head out. ----Nasr---- You might want to go rushing off to face this Angel of Death, but she will beat you so bad that it won't be funny. For now, head through the reef into the Maramba region. DO NOT land at Maramba. Instead, locate Discoveries five through nine, 65, and 66. Fight the Black Pirate flying around the desert, if you want, and spend some time leveling up your magic, and Fina. When you are done, return to Sailor's Island. Report your new discoveries, and buy the best equipment that you can. Rest and save, then head back to your ship. Go West, and try to find the ship with the purple sails. This is Piastol, the Angel of Death. Speak to her ship, and she will board you and challenge you to a fight. --Boss: Piastol-- This fight is hard. Her dog, Death Hound, joins Piastol. Both have a crazy number of Hit Points, and Piastol has some strong attacks. Her Tempest Dance can do between 900 and 1600 damage. Plus, she can cast Eterni, which can kill one character instantly. Death Hound can attack and cast Sacri on Piastol. You will need to take Death Hound down first, because he is weaker, and to stop him from healing Piastol. I recommend having Aika cast Delta Shield every turn, to block Eterni. At this point you probably only have Risan, which isn't reliable enough for this fight, so it's better to just not die. Have Fina heal every turn, and attack with Vyse and Drachma. Use Cutlass Fury and Tackle when you have enough SP. If you can take Death Hound down without losing anyone, you can probably win. If you can't beat her, try again when you have more magic or S-Moves. If you do win, you will get great experience and magic experience. After you beat Piastol, or give up, head to Maramba and land in the port. ----Maramba---- Items: Moonfish x2, Cham, Magic Droplet x3, Slipara Box, Nasr Combat Mail, 300 gold, Moonberry, Excavation Arm, Gem of Fluidity When you leave the ship Drachma will abandon you to search for Rhaknam. Since you can't do anything about it, search the town. You can grab a Moonfish on the dock, then head into the building. The Ship Parts dealer will tell you about a new type of weapon, but you don't have a ship right now, so it's pointless. The Guild master will tell you about a new dancer, and since that sounds like the next thing you should do, avoid her until you finish exploring the town. In the actual town, you can find a Cham and three Magic Droplets above the inn. The equipment and item shops have some great new stuff, and the equipment shop owner tips you off to some buried treasure. By using a Dhabu, you can reach a Slipara Box, Nasr Combat Mail, and another Moonfish. After you have looted this side of town, you can find 300 gold above the tavern on the other side of town. If you check the dried up well, you will find a maze. Take the first left for a Moonberry, then head into the maze. Press the first switch you find, and follow the new path to the Excavation Arm. Further down the path, you will find a second button. Press it and head down the new path. At the end, you will find a third button, which you should press. There is now a path to the chest that you couldn't reach earlier. Grab it, a Gem of Fluidity, and return to the first button that you pressed. Press it again, then the last button that you pressed, and you will be able to return to the surface. With that done, head into the tavern and speak to the dancer. When Aika catches you eyeing the dancer, choose "Hehe... Okay, I'll stop staring." for a swashbuckling boost. After a conversation, she will offer to let you use her ship. Go back to the inn and rest for the night. The next morning, meet Bellena at the dock. Choose "We'll do it!" for a swashbuckling boost, and you will be on your way to the Temple of Pyrynn, which is to the East. ----Temple of Pyrynn---- Items: 1301 gold, Moonfish x2, Ancient Robe, Sacres Crystal x3, Dancing Arc, Moonberry, Cham, Magic Droplet x5, Rune of Ill Omen, Red Moon Crystal This place is annoying, but you get a lot of good loot, so I guess it's worth it. In the first room, you will see two barrels that you can roll. Go across on the first one, and take the second one back to the path on the left. Up here you will find a guarded chest containing 527 gold. Return to the main path, and continue on. The next puzzle will be a room with falling boulders. Run after the boulders as they fall, and duck off into the side path. A little ways down this path, you should be alerted to the presence of a Moonfish. Catch it, and keep going. At the end of this path you will find another guarded chest, this one containing an Ancient Robe. Return to the bolder room, and on to the next puzzle. This time you have three barrels and three pits. Roll the side barrels into the pits first, then roll the middle one into the last hole. The next room will have a chest and three paths; grab the chest for three Sacres Crystals. The path to the left is a door that can't be opened, the path to the top is the way to the next puzzle, and the path to the right is another room with another chest. This chest contains a Dancing Arc. Grab it, and go up. The next room is empty, but up once more is a third chest, this one containing 774 gold. Now, take the path that you haven't been down yet. This next room looks like a Tetris piece, with two blue squares, and two red ones. There are two red barrels and two blue one. Roll the two closest barrels onto their matching squares, then roll the remaining two. The floor will drop, and reveal two doors. The door that remains shut leads back to the previous room, so take the open one. The next room has more falling boulders. To avoid the boulders, you can use a path on either side. The left path has a Cham, and the right one has a chest containing a Moonberry. Past the boulders, you will find yet another room. This one is filled wit lava. There is only one path, and one chest on the way. Grab the five Magic Droplets, and exit to the next room. It contains more lava. This time there is a button that releases water. It has no use right now. Follow the path to another puzzle. This one is a little hard to explain, but roll the barrels in this order (the red one is last): the one closest to you, the one on the bottom (and to the right), the one above that, the one opposite the red one, and the red one. With that done, the beginning of the room will flood with lava. Head back, and grab the chest. You will have to fight your first Zivilyn Bane to get it. --Zivilyn Bane-- Spoils: Icyl Seed You will end up fighting a lot of these guys, each one stronger than the last. The fight is pretty standard though. Keep your health up, and pound away with strong attacks. He uses an attack called Burst that can hit an area, meaning that it hits anyone close to the target. This can be painful, but you can take a turn to heal if you need to. Once you beat him, you will get the Rune of Ill Omen, which has no use. You can sell it if you need cash, or hang onto it. After the fight, return to the switch at the beginning of the room, and press it. Water will pour out and cool the lava. Head to the save point, but grab the last Moonfish on the way. Heal and save, then prepare for the boss. Head through the door, and you will face Rokwyrm. --Boss: Rokwyrm-- Spoils: Riselem Crystal This fight really shouldn't be hard. Use Cutlass Fury every other turn, and keep your health up. Rokwyrm has an attack that can hit everyone for about 500 damage. If you have any extra SP, throw an ice spell or two in there. Unless you are unlucky enough to be hit by two Volcanic Blasts in a row, after a few turns, you should win. Rokwyrm's corpse makes a good bridge, so cross it and claim your prize, the Red Moon Crystal. A secret path will open, and lead you outside. Make sure to save again, then speak to Bellena. Vyse shows the crystal to Bellena, who then steals it and reveals herself to be Belleza, one of Valua's admirals. She then summons the Red Gigas, which shoots its Red Ray at the gang, killing them... Okay, Drachma saves them. Aboard the Little Jack, you must stop Recumen. --Ship Battle: Recumen-- You can't win this fight, but that doesn't mean that you have to lose. You can actually come away from this fight without taking a hit. Simply hit Recumen before it can fire its ray. Concentrate your fire into the red turns, using your main cannon and a secondary cannon at the same time. On all your other turns, focus, or heal if you took a hit. After a few rounds, you will decide that the fight is hopeless. Choose "You mean attack Belleza?" for a swashbuckling boost, and you decide to attack Belleza instead, who turns out to be more dangerous. --Ship Battle: Lynx-- Spoils: Captain's Stripe, Magic Cannon, 3" Blaster To win this battle, it helps to be crazy. Like always, keep your health up, and focus on extra turns. Concentrate fire on critical turns, and make sure you have enough SP to fire the Harpoon Cannon when its time comes. Don't be afraid to defend on yellow or red squares. When it's decision time, do something unexpected; make sharp turns, climb straight up, and whip around behind Belleza at top speed. A shot from the Harpoon Cannon along with normal damage should secure your victory. After the Lynx is defeated, Recumen will return to the ground. Drachma will take Belleza's engine, which allows you to pass through the South Ocean. But, before you go tearing off into the unknown, you should stop by Maramba. ----Maramba---- While here, you should stock up on items, get better equipment, and get new ship parts (namely a torpedo). You may notice a big man standing on the docks. You should make sure that you heal and save before talking to him. When you are ready, confront him and challenge him to a fight. He is Barta, and the bodyguard of Rupee Larso. Rupee has a bounty on his head, and you want to collect it. --Boss: Rupee Larso-- Spoils: Captain's Hat, Paranta Seed While it may be tempting to try and take Rupee out first, he has some strong magic and physical attacks, that he uses when he has taken damage. Focus on Barta first, then Rupee after Barta is gone. Like always, keep your health up, and use your strongest attacks. Once Barta falls, Rupee is easy. Without Barta, Rupee can only use magic attacks. Use Aika's Delta Shield every turn and Rupee can't hurt you. It may take some time, but you will win. Report your win to the guild, and then tie up any loose ends before heading through the South Ocean. Namely, deliver Moonfish to Maria's bird. Moonfish five through eight will net you 50 Sky Sardis (more useful than you think), an Aura of Valor, a Counter Bracer, and a Riselem Box. Before challenging the South Ocean, make sure that you tied up any loose ends. It's not a fun section of the game, and I wouldn't recommend challenging it more than you have to. ----South Ocean---- You have to fly very slowly through here, and the fights seem to be a little more frequent. There are a few discoveries in here, and it wouldn't be a bad idea to try to grab them now. However, I will understand if you want to skip them. You can find Discoveries ten, eleven, and 67 here. Twelve is automatic, once you make it through. ----Ixa'taka---- Before you land in Horteka, look around some. You can find Discoveries thirteen through eighteen (sixteen can't be found just yet) and 68 and 69. There is also a Black Market ship flying around above the big forest. This ship can buy and sell Discovery information, and ship parts. Report all of your new Discoveries, and upgrade your ship. When you are done, land in Horteka. ----Horteka---- Items: Moonberry, Cham, Moon Stone Fuel, Sacri Crystal x25, Sacri Box, Moonfish x2, Paranta Seed When you arrive, everyone will be rude to you. But, you have two objectives here, one is to find fuel, and the other is to talk to the village chief. Both are easy. While exploring the town, you will find a downed airship. Speak to the guy standing on the deck to learn his story, and get some Moon Stone Fuel. Search the front deck for a chest with 25 Sacri Crystals. The chief is in the hut marked with a mask. Speak to him, and the villagers will treat you a little better. With those out of the way, make sure you grab any treasure before leaving. A Cham can be found near the entrance to the area with the downed ship; a Moonberry can be found at the top of one of the poles; a Sacri Box can found by examining the back of the shrine, on the second floor of the tavern; one Moonfish can be caught outside the top floor of the tavern; the last one can be caught on the tall platform near the chief hut; and the Paranta Seed is in the chest near the last Moonfish. Check out the weapon and item shops for some great new gear, and stock up on healing crystals. When you are done here, return to you ship, and look for the King's Hideout. It's the floating tree, North of town. ----King's Hideout---- Item: Cham Before you can land, De Loco and his ship, the Chameleon, attack you. --Ship Battle: Chameleon-- Spoils: Captain's Stripe, B-Type Cannon This is another textbook battle. Keep your health up, and use the Harpoon Cannon as soon as possible. It actually may take two shots, but this fight shouldn't pose a problem. The Chameleon does have one strong attack, its Flame Thrower. But, like the Red Gigas, if you can hurt it enough on the turn that it's supposed to fire, it won't hurt you. After the fight, land at the hideout, and speak to the king. Apparently, the only one who knows where to find the Green Moon Crystal is a priest. It just so happens that this priest is being held prisoner in the Moon Stone Mountain. Of course, we are going to rescue him. Choose "Let's break into the Moon Stone Mines." for a swashbuckling boost, grab the Cham near the door, then head off to Moon Stone Mountain. It is mostly South, and a little West of the hideout. ----Moon Stone Mountain---- Items: Cham x2, Curia Crystal x 4, 800 gold, Zaal Seed, 3" Blaster, De Loco Drill, Moonfish, De Loco Mail, Moonberry, Glyph of Speed x4, Healing Salve x2, Glyph of Might x4, Twin Propellers This place is confusing. The first part is pretty straightforward. Just continue to push on until you reach the first intersection. To the left is a Cham; grab it and climb the ram to another intersection. To the right is a slave who will give you a tip about the traps in this place. X squares are safe, while O squares will drop out below you. Continue on past two puzzles like the slave described. You will find yourself in a room with mesh floors, and triangle squares. There is a path to the left, but it leads to an elevator that isn't working. The left triangle is safe, cross it and grab the Cham on the middle path. Continue on, making sure to grab the Curia Crystals and gold in the side rooms. The next room that you will see has three paths. There is an X square if you go straight but there is nothing there. To the left is a path to some treasure, but don't get it yet. Take the right path, and fall through the O square. There are three more O squares on this platform, and the middle one is the one we want. Drop through it, and you will find yourself in a hall with one door, and an elevator that doesn't work. Go in the side room, and you will find Centime, the Blue Rogue. After you free him, he will fix the elevators. Go up the, now operational, elevator. In the next hall, check the side room for a Zaal Seed. Go straight through the intersection, and grab the 3" Blaster in the next room. The next room is empty, but past it is a platform with a De Loco Drill, and a Moonfish over the left side. Make your way back to the intersection, and take the other path. There is a O square here, which you should drop through. Drop through the O square on the right, and grab the De Loco Mail in the chest. Drop down once more, and you will be taken back to the slave's room. Start your trek back, but stop at the first triangle square room. The elevator to the left is now working. Take it and grab the Moonberry in the chest. Return to the main path, and press on until you reach the farthest spot that you have reached. Instead of falling down the O square again, take the left path. Eventually, you will reach an elevator. Take it, and you will find yourself on a bridge. Cross the bridge, and keep going until you reach the room with four doors. The exits will slam shut, and you will have to fight some weak guards. Dispatch them, and check the doors for treasure. Grab all three chests before talking to the priest. When you speak to him, he will join you, and the exit will open. Just a little further, and you will reach a save point. Heal, save, and open the last door. Inside, you will confront Alfonso, who will sick his new pet on you. --Boss: Antonio 2-- Spoils: Moonberry Nothing really special about this fight. He does have an attack that can do up to 1000 damage though, so keep your HP up. Like always, attack with everything you have, and after a few turn you will win. After the fight, Alfonso will be out of commission and De Loco's trap won't work. Meet Centime at the elevator, and escape. Return to Horteka, and speak to Centime on his ship. He will reward you with a Twin Propellers for helping him. When you are done, bring the priest back to the King's, and he will tell you how to find Rixis. First, you must find Discoveries fourteen and fifteen. After you find them, search the spot that they both point to, and you should discover the Gates of Rixis. ----Rixis---- Items: Cham x2, Risan Crystal x3, Stonecutter, Sacrulen Crystal x2, Golden Mask, 1186 gold, Moonberry, Light Coat, Moonfish, Ruin Arm, Icyl Seed, Green Moon Crystal, Tropica This place is intimidating, but not really tough or time consuming. First, you must put the Golden Man's eye in the left statue, grab the nearby Cham, and put the Great Bird's eye in the right statue. This opens the way to Rixis. Once inside, make your way to the first floating platform, and ride it across the gap. On the other side, take the stairs down and grab the Risan Crystals before taking the stairs up. Continue on until you reach a pair of stairs. Skip past them for now, and grab the Stonecutter behind the wall. Then, take the right stairs upward. At the top, you will find another floating platform. Instead of getting on it, turn right and grab the Sacrulen Crystals behind the steps. Ride the platform, on the lower level, to the next ledge and get off. Go upstairs to grab a Cham, then back down and into the next room. In this room you will find a chest, guarded by a Zivilyn Bane. --Zivilyn Bane-- This fight is very similar to the previous one. He is a bit stronger this time, but so are you. Keep your health above 1000, and hit him with your best attacks. After a few turns, you will have beaten him again. Your prize this time is the Golden Mask, which has no real use. With that out of the way, head downstairs. Ignore the floating platform for now, and grab the 1186 gold in the next room. Return to the platform, and ride it across. Once on the other side, step into the next room and grab the Moonberry, then return to the previous room, and climb the stairs. Grab the Light Coat in the next box, go up again, then stand near the platform that isn't moving. This one takes you back to the entrance, but there is a Moonfish flying around right above it, and that's what we want. Catch it, then hop on the other platform, the one that's moving. On the other side you will find a Ruin Arm. Take it and go back. Go into the next room, and hop on the platform. Skip the first stop, and get off at the second. Here you will find am Icyl Seed. Take it, then take the platform back to the stop that you skipped. Here, you will find the ghost. He will run from you, so take the right path, and then chase him into the next room. He will activate a platform, and escape. Chase him down, until you reach the save point. Heal, save, and climb the big staircase. At the top, you will be attacked. --Boss: Rik'talish-- Spoils: Sylph Seed This guy can confuse and put your party to sleep. Plus, he has an area attack that can do up to 1200 damage. Despite all that, he isn't too strong. Normal rules apply, keep your health up, cure sleep and panic, and use S-Moves to do heavy damage. After a short battle, the boss will fall. After the fight, you will watch the king summon Grendel, the Green Gigas. You will have a chance to save before you return to the ship, and I suggest you use it. Before you can face Grendel, you have to go through De Loco. He has a new weapon this time, but he's still pretty easy. --Ship Battle: Chameleon-- Spoils: Hunter Torpedo This time, you can't knock De Loco off balance, but you do get some good hits in before he gets to fire. A Harpoon Cannon or two, along with normal shelling, should send De Loco packing. You should try to keep your health maxed out though; after this fight, you will have to face Grendel. --Ship Battle: Grendel-- Spoils: Captain's Stripe, Grendel Wing, Complete Kit You can't kill him, but you can stop him by knocking him into the valley. Watch his attacks; you can't avoid them, but they aren't too strong. Occasionally, he will get a good hit in, so don't get careless with the healing. Keep firing on him, until you can use your Harpoon Cannon. After he takes a certain amount of damage, he will grab his head. This is your queue. Hit him with a Harpoon Cannon while he is like that, and you will have stopped him. After the fight, you will get the Green Moon Crystal. Valua will have fled, opening a passage to the North Ocean, and you will find some local ships sailing around. One in particular interests us. Find the ship sailing near Horteka, that talks about wanting fish. If you happen to have 10 Sky Sardis, you will be rewarded with the first of three Abirik Chams. These help Cupil evolve stronger, and all three are necessary to getting his last form. Before you leave, stop by Horteka once more. Speak to the man in the hut, near the slide to the bar, for a Tropica. Wrap up any other loose ends, then heard through the Iron Gate to the North. ----North Ocean---- In the North Ocean, you can make discoveries nineteen through 22, 70, and 71. When you sail far enough into the North Ocean, you will be attacked by Gordo, who just so happens to have a bounty on his head. He wants your food, and you want the bounty, so that means a fight. --Boss: Gordo-- Spoils: Cham, Sky Sardis x60 The most dangerous thing about this guy is his help. Take out the Mad Chefs first, then Gordo will easily fall. A victory will net you a Cham. After the fight, Gordo will reveal a little about Drachma's past, before Drachma chases him off. If you have found all of the North Ocean Discoveries, it's time to move onto Valua. ----Valua---- Your goal is the Maw of Tartas, so make sure you do everything that you want to, first. This includes finding Discoveries 23 and 24. Unless you want to fight some Valuan ships, there isn't much else to do. If you want, you can head back to Ixa'taka, and report these discoveries before you land. Otherwise, land at the Maw of Tartas when you are ready. ----Maw of Tartas---- Items: Chom x3 Check the seal, and get attacked by four soldiers. They are wimps, so cream them and drill them for info. Drachma will insist on finding Rhaknam, so choose " We understand. We'll go with you." for a swashbuckling boost, and to help out a friend. When you are done, grab the three Choms. Two are on the seal, and the third is near the exit. When you return to the ship, you will rest. Vyse can't sleep, so meet Drachma on the deck. He will open up to you, just before a fog rolls in. You will set out to find Rhaknam, so save and then head east. You will find him, along with some Valuan ships. Drachma doesn't want them interfering with his revenge, so you will attack them. --Ship Battle: Valuan Gunboat-- Spoils: Deluxe Kit This fight is easy. Just attack until you beat the enemy. Use the Harpoon Cannon if you have to. After the fight, Drachma will attack Rhaknam, but the Valuans will attack you. Unable to fight back, the Little Jack will be in danger of falling apart. You decide to evacuate, so make your way to the lifeboats. Drachma will push the Lifeboats out, and stay with his ship. As if things weren't bad enough, your Lifeboats will be attacked, and Vyse will crash on a deserted island. ----Deserted Island / Nasrad---- Items: Gonzales' map, Moonberry, 1827 gold, Clara's Purse, Abirik Cham, Sylph Seed, Grapor's Meat, Moonfish, Wages, Sacres Crystal x 4, Cham, Pedro's Map When Vyse wakes up, he will find himself on a deserted island. Take a look around, and you will find a skeleton. Search it for Gonzales' map. Inside the cave, you will find a Moonberry, a chest with some gold, and a bed. Vyse will rest, and the control will switch to Aika. Aika and Fina wake up in a strange ship with a strange captain. When Clara's ship reaches Nasrad, she will give you her purse, and wish you luck. Search the town well. Speak to the trader in the equipment shop, and he will give you your second Abirik Cham. Check the Bazaar for a Slyph Seed chest. It's past the Clothing Stall Girl, in a green chest. Head to the inn when you are done, and get a room. Aika and Fina start to think about Vyse, and then the control returns to him. The next day, Vyse will have to gather food. Search the forest for monsters called Grapors. Kill them however you want. You will need to collect fifteen Grapor's Meats before the day will end. Watch day three, then on day four, you will have to collect firewood. Again, search the forest until you find five pieces laying around. You may have to shift the camera some, but they aren't really hidden. Day five is spent inside, out of the rain, and on day six you will have to collect moonstones. Search around for five of them, and don't forget the one near the signal fire. Vyse will spend the next week fixing his lifeboat, and on the day he plans to leave, a ship will spot his signal fire. The man that saved you is Gilder, and your next teammate. After you get to know each other, Guilder will offer to let you pilot the ship. Take him up on his offer, and explore the new area. You can now find discoveries 25, 47, 72, and 73. Once you get close enough to Nasrad, the crew will spot Clara. Guilder and Vyse will escape while the Claudia leads Clara away. You will land in Nasrad, and Gilder will leave for the bar. Grab the Moonfish on the dock, then get a room at the inn. You will switch to Aika again. Aika and Fina have been working for the last two weeks, and today is payday. Head over to the bar to collect your wages, along will a little bonus. Head back to the inn, and you will find an old man in need of help. You will help him, and he will give you Pedro's Map, which leads you to treasure. Once in control of Vyse again, Gilder will notice your half of the map, and suggest that you go find the treasure. Head to the dock, but you will decide that you have to warn the Nasultan about Valua's invasion plans. Speak to the guards, and choose "We have important information" for a swashbuckling boost, and to see the Nasultan. He won't listen, but you did all that you could. ----Daccat's Island---- Items: Cham x2, Skywing, Soul Crystal, Sacrulen Crystal x2, 2001 gold, Maiden's Armor x2, Magic Droplet x4, Magic Dew, Daccat's Armor, Vidal Seed, Moonberry x2, Risan Crystal x2, Moonfish, Electrum Box, Daccat's Coin The girls go first. Sail North in search of Daccat's Island. It's the largest island North of Crescent Island. When they arrive, grab the Cham, and stand on the plate. Gilder and Vyse will then be able to go. Head to the same island, and step on the second plate. Both doors will open, and control will switch to Aika. Grab the Skywing, then change people at the change point. As Vyse, you will fight a Zivilyn Bane at the next chest. --Zivilyn Bane-- Spoils: Paranta Seed His attacks are stronger, but he has few Hit Points this time. Heal if you need to, but a few Cutlass Furies should end this quickly. Your reward is another artifact, the Soul Crystal. Flip the next switch, then change people. As Aika, grab the Sacrulen Crystals, flip the switch, and change back to Vyse. As Vyse, get the gold in the chest, then step on the plate. Aika will now be able to go across the chasm to get the Maiden's Armor. Get them, and change back to Vyse. Turn the crank once, grab the Magic Droplets, then change back to Aika. Grab the Magic Dew, stand on the plate, and switch back. Turn the crank twice more with Vyse, grab the armor in the chest, and stand on the plate to open the doors. Once in control of Aika again, grab both the chests in this room, and the Cham in the middle. Step on the far plate, and switch back to Vyse. In this tunnel, turn left for two Risan Crystals, a Moonberry, and a Moonfish near the Moonberry chest. Go back and take the other path. Grab the last chest, and stand on the plate. This next room is the confusing one. As Aika, change at the next point. Turn the crank with Vyse, one time, then change. Hop over to Aika's crank, turn it twice, and change back. Just run over to the next platform for Vyse, and change again. Turn Aika's crank three times, and stand on the plate. Finally, move over to Vyse's plate, and you will be free. In the next room, everyone will be reunited, and then get attacked. --Boss: Sinistra and Destra-- Spoils: Icyl Seed, Magus Seed These two have a powerful team attack, and a fairly high defense. It's best to take one out first, and I recommend Sinistra. Ice spells work well against him, and ice spells are cheap to cast. Pummel him with Cutlass Furies, ice spells, and regular attacks until he dies. Once you defeat one head, the other should be a piece of cake. Just heal when you need to, and abuse the Cutlass Fury. After the battle, you will open Daccat's chest, you will get Daccat's Coin, and Gilder will get a good laugh. With this place cleaned out, return to Nasrad. ----Nasrad---- As soon as you enter the city, it will be attacked. Your ship will be destroyed, and you will be confronted by Ramirez. Take Fina's advice, and choose "Surrender." for a swashbuckling boost. You will be taken back to Valua, and thrown in prison. ----Grand Fortress---- Items: Cannon Room Key, Harbor Key, Moonberry, Unholy Dagger You may be locked in prison, but you have the best cellmate that you can hope for. Gilder breaks you out of your cell, so take out the guards, and take the elevator to the second prisoner block, to free Aika. To free Aika, you will have to fight Vigoro. --Boss: Vigoro-- Spoils: Cannon Room Key This fight is easy. His main attack does little damage, but confuses Aika. Two or three Cutlass Furies will put him is his place. After you beat him, you get the Cannon Room Key, and Aika rejoins you. Re-equip her, and take the elevator to the cannon room. This next part is Straightforward, so just make your way to Fina. Beat her guards, and she will rejoin you. Re-equip her, and head back down the last elevator you used. Take the door to the harbor, and you find yourself in a multi-leveled room. If a spotlight touches you, you will be attacked. So, avoid the lights, and grab the Moonberry on the second floor. Above the third floor, you will see another chest. A Zivilyn Bane guards this one. --Zivilyn Bane-- Spoils: Sylph Seed I don't know why he is here, but he poses no real trouble. This fight is just like all the others. Keep your HP higher than his Burst attack can take off, and use your best moves. After a short fight, you will have an Unholy Dagger. Despite its name, it's just an artifact. Head through the last door, and you will face the boss. --Boss: Dralkor Tank-- Spoils: Riselem Crystal x5 Prepare for a drawn out fight. The tank has an attack than can do decent damage to an area. Otherwise, this fight just takes some time. Just keep pounding on the tank, and eventually you will beat it. After the fight, choose "Let's take our chances and hop on." for a swashbuckling boost. At the top, you will meet Prince Enrique. He will lead you to Valua's newest ship, and ask to join you. Choose "Of course you can come with us." for a swashbuckling boost, and you will gain a powerful new ally, as well as an awesome ship. The gate is shut however, and the only way to escape is to blow a hole in the wall. Fortunately, Gilder has already done some of the work for you. --Ship Battle: Fortress Gate-- Spoils: Gear Grease Just defend for the first round, and use the Moon Stone Cannon on the second. After the fight, you will escape. ----Delphinus---- Items: Moonberry, Cham The first you have to do is pick a new captain, and everyone agrees on Vyse. Choose "I'll do it." for a swashbuckling boost. Gilder suggests that you check out the ship now, to find any problems. Search the compartments on the bridge for a Moonberry, and to find Marco. Marco will be the first to join your crew. Explore the rest of the ship, and make sure to grab the Cham on the deck, near Fina. When you are done, speak to Guilder. He will suggest that you find some new crewmembers and build a base. Gilder will then flee from Clara, and you will be free to explore. ----Mid Ocean---- The Delphinus cannot fly through reefs, so you have to return to Crescent Island through Nasr. Before that though, deliver any Moonfish to Doc. If you have all six Moonfish, you will get a Female Armor, a White Map, 30 Romuhai Fish / 30 Grule, a Warrior's Heart, a Ancient Bracer, and a Magillex Idol. With that done, land at Sailor's Island. ----Sailor's Island---- Item: Black Spot Here, you can recruit Polly at the tavern, Lawrence next to the guild, and Pinta in the equipment shop. The equipment and item shops have some new stock, and you may notice the unhappy looking fellow outside the equipment shop. This is Lapan, and he has a bounty on his head. Challenge him to a fight, and he will get in a machine. --Boss: Lapan-- Spoils: Berzerker Mail This fight can be tough, but you have a new tool available to you. Work on maxing out your SP. But try to keep weaker characters defended. If you loose someone, revive them. When your SP is maxed out, and everyone is alive, use your new Prophecy special move. This should take out most of Lapan's HP. Take out the rest with a few Cutlass Furies. One of Lapan's attacks can do a good amount of damage to your whole party, but if you use two Sacrum Crystals after it, you shouldn't lose anyone. Another one of his attacks can do around 4000 damage, but won't kill anyone if they are defending. With some luck and time, you will come out on top. With Lapan taken care of, report to the Sailor's guild. You will be given another Black Spot. Make sure that you are prepared before heading out to face Piastol again. Just like last time, you will find her ship West of Sailor's Island. --Boss: Piastol-- Her and her dog have learned some new tricks. Her attacks do more damage, and her dog knows more green magic. Just like before, use Aika's Delta Shield to stop her death attacks. If you can, save up your SP until you can use your Prophecy special. One of these will greatly weaken the dog, and do good damage to Piastol. One more Cutlass Fury should finish the dog, leaving only Piastol. This fight is actually much like the previous one, only your team should be a little more balanced now. Patience will win this battle for you; don't try to do a ton of damage, and leave your weaker characters defenseless. After this fight, swing by Pirate Isle to pick up Pow, then start your journey back to Crescent Island. Make sure to stop off in Nasrad on the way. ----Nasrad---- Items: Cham, Moonberry At the docks, talk to the gunner Khazim. He will gladly join your crew. Inside the city, you can find a Cham near the middle fountain. You can find Osman at her shop, and even though you may not want to, you should recruit her. The Ship Part shop has some great new equipment. Outfit your new ship, then speak the Sailor's Guild master. He will offer to buy your Daccat's Coin for 20000 gold. You can hang onto it if you want, but you will need the money if you have less than 100000. You can find a Moonberry in the alley between the Equipment and Items shops. When you are done, return to Crescent Island. ----Crescent Island---- When you arrive, you will be greeted by two of the coolest old guys. They will upgrade your ship and build you a base, but you have to pay them 100000 gold. If you happen to have that, great. If not, hunt for Discoveries, bounties, or monsters. Once you have enough, pay them, and you will rest while they are working on your ship. That night, choose "Instill her with confidence." for a swashbuckling boost. The next morning, your ship will be able to fly through reefs and sky rifts. Fina will tell you that your next destination is Yafutoma. To get there you have to fly through The Dark Rift. The sailor's at Esparanza should be able to give you some insight. But before we go there, there are a ton of new things that we can do. You can now find discoveries 26 through 35, 74, and 75, recruit some new crewmembers, and have a new bounty to fight. Head over to North Ocean, near where you fought Gordo. You should see a new island; this is Gordo's Bistro. ----Gordo's Bistro---- Items: Cham Inside, you will see Domingo. He will start bragging, and say that he will only join you if you have found 30 Discoveries or more. If you have found that many, he will join you as a lookout. Grab the Cham on the left side of the room, then head back to Horteka. ----Horteka---- Head over to the high platform near the chief's house. You will find Tikatika here, and will talk about a ship of women. If you have found the Ixa'ness Village, then he will join you. In my opinion, he is more useful than Domingo. Before you leave, head over to the bar and speak to Merida. If you have the Note in a Bottle from Sailor's Island, she will join you. Rest and save, then head over toward the Ixa'ness Village. Here, you will see a strange ship. Approach it, and three strange girls will board you. After a word fight between them and Aika, they will attack. --Boss: Ixa'ness Demons-- Spoils: Riselem Crystal, Aura of Valor, Tropica This fight can be tough, but I'll let you in on a secret. One Prophecy attack will take all three out at once. Now, it may seem tough to keep everyone alive until your SP is maxed, but it's easier than trying to take them down one at a time. They have a group attack called Chock Mal, that does about 1500 damage, plus, two of the three still get to attack that turn. Their attacks can cause sleep or confusion, and they like to use stat boosting magic. With that said, just defend, heal, focus, use Fina's Lunar Cleansing/Lunar Winds, and do whatever you need to use your Prophecy attack. As with most bounty fights, a little luck will help. If you want, you can hunt out two of The Four Giant Monsters. However, since you don't have Kalifa, you will miss out on two unique items. Unless you want the title of Vyse the Extravagant, they aren't important items, but it's your call. The tips for fighting them can be found later in the walkthrough, and in the Side Quests section. When you have done everything that you want to for a while, head to Esparanza. ----Esparanza---- Items: Cham, 2248 gold, Valuan Uniform x3, Moonfish x2, Moonberry. When you arrive, Vyse and Aika will have to find a way through the rift. When you enter the town, you will see a ladder. Go down it, and you will find a Cham, and 2248 gold a little further in. Next to the inn is a house with a green lever. Pull it and climb up to the roof. On the roof you will find three Valuan Uniforms, and a path to the fortified lighthouse. On top of the lighthouse, you can catch a Moonfish. Return to the town, and check out the shop at the back of the town. Near the shop, you will find another Moonfish. After grabbing it, check behind the wall near the lighthouse, and you will find a chest with a Moonberry. Head to the tavern, and speak to the sailor in the corner. After giving him a lecture, Fina will run in and report that the Armada has arrived. Back at the docks, Enrique will tell you that it's Gregorio, and that you will have to break free tomorrow. You will rest, and start the next day with a battle. --Ship Battle: Gregorio Cruiser-- Spoils: Speed Wax This fight is cake. One Moon Stone Cannon blast will take it down. After this fight is another fight. --Ship Battle: Gregorio Gunboat-- Spoils: Shredder Bomb, Crystal Ball This one is a little stronger, but still no match for the Delphinus. It will probably take more than just the Moon Stone Cannon, but not much more. Punish this ship, then you will have to fight again. --Ship Battle: The Auriga-- Spoils: 12" Cannon, Captain's Stripe, Heavy Armor Deck This fight will take some time, but it doesn't have to be difficult. Gregorio has a high defense, and likes to defend. However, his strongest attack is his ram. Casting Quika or using Speed Wax before a red square can evade this. When you evade his attack, it leaves him defenseless, and open to the Moon Stone Cannon. Just keep attacking and dodging, and eventually you will beat Gregorio. After your victory, it will be time to enter the vortex on the side of the Dark Rift. ----Dark Rift---- Items: Magus Seed, Moss Armor, Dream Cutlass, 2731 gold, Sacrum Crystal x3, Moonberry x2, Aura of Valor, Chalice of Blood This place can be confusing, but isn't too bad once you get the hang of it. When you reach the first room, search the two closest glowing ships for a Magus Seed, and Moss Armor. Go through one of the tunnels in the green wall, and search the third ship for a Dream Cutlass. Take the nearby vortex, the one on the left side of the wall, and continue on until you reach a dark room. Head into this room until you discover the Black Moon Stone. Then turn around, and take the rightmost vortex. Inside, you will find three ships. The two normal looking ones have 2731 gold and three Sacrum Crystals. The gold is pretty high up. The third ship has a red and white sail. Search it, and you will find a scruffy man with amnesia. If you have Polly in your active crew (and you should), she will remind him of who he is. He is Robinson, Polly's husband, and the newest member of your crew. Grab the Moonberry in his ship, and return to the black room. Take the second vortex from the left, and you find yourself in a room with a pillar of light. Search the three ships here for another Moonberry, an Aura of Valor, and a fight with Zivilyn Bane. --Zivilyn Bane-- Spoils: Icyl Seed Just more of the same. His burst now does almost 1500 damage and he has more health. It still only takes a few Cutlass Furies or Royal Blades to finish him. Your reward this time is the Chalice of Blood. After the fight, take the top vortex, and you will find yourself in the last room, staring at a strange creature. Since it inhabits the final vortex, you have to kill it. --Ship Battle: Anguila-- Spoils: Concussion Bomb, Heavy Torpedo, Timing Valve This fight can be annoying. Anguila ducks into the vortex to hide, causing your attacks to miss. Fortunately, his attacks are weak. Make sure you stay close though, as it can be hard to hit a target that you can't see. Just keep shooting, and use the Moon Stone Cannon as much as possible. After a while, Anguila will come out from hiding for a while. Hit it as much as possible during this time. Regardless, it will fall if you keep the pressure on, it just may take longer than you want. With Anguila out of the way, you can leave the Dark Rift, and finally reach Yafutoma. ----Yafutoma Air Space---- A lot of new space has just opened up to you, and you can now find Discoveries 37 (which is automatic) through 45, and 77. When you get close to the city of Yafutoma, a Tenkou ship will attack you. --Ship Battle: Tenkou Ship-- Spoils: Pyro Bomb, Crystal Ball The only reason that I put this here, is to warn you that the Tenkou Ship can fly higher than your ship, meaning that cannon fire often misses. Rely on torpedoes and magic attacks here. If Tikatika is your lookout, your torpedo's accuracy will be much better, and magic may not be as strong, but it's cheap and has a high accuracy. Just keep attacking until you beat the enemy. After this fight, you will be boarded. Choose "Fight." for a swashbuckling boost. --Boss: Joa and Moa-- Spoils: Moonberry This fight shouldn't be too hard either. Their attacks are strong, but they don't have a lot of health. Focus on either one first, then take out the other. Heal when you need to, but they can only attack two people a turn, so healing should only need to be light. If you find this fight to be more trouble than I did, you can always defend and heal until you can use the Prophecy attack. One of those should win this for you. After the fight, and after you have finished exploring, land at Yafutoma. ----Yafutoma---- Items: Moonfish, Cham, 3000 gold, Moonberry, Underwater Suit When you arrive, you will be summoned to the palace, where you will talk to the king. For some reason, he wants you to find the Blue Moon Crystal, and offers to help. After the meeting, you are free to explore the town. search the left side of the palace for a Moonfish, then head down into the town. To the right, you will find a man who offers to let you use a tub ship. Hop in, then ride over to the other dock. Around the dock, you will find a Cham. Head to the right and into the item shop. Open the door in the back of the shop, and you will find 3000 gold. Run all the way back toward the tub ship guy, but open the red valve near the bridge right before him, instead. Return to your tub ship, and ride over to the bridge that you raised, and grab the Moonberry. Ride back toward the equipment shop, and fall down the waterfall. In this area, you will find Kirala, who will join your crew if you say that you appreciate the town. After she joins you, find the elevator. Ride it up, board your new tub ship, and ride over to the restaurant. Once you have recruited Kirala, her sister Urala will join. Recruit Urala, then take the stairs down to the Ship Part shop. Speak to the owner, and you can buy some great new gear. When you are ready, ask him to take you to Mount Kazai. He will give you the Underwater Suit, and take you there. ----Mount Kazai---- Items: Windsong Orb, Moonfish, Cham, Moonberry, Blue Moon Crystal When you enter, just keep heading straight until you reach the center room. press the nearby button, and the water will pour in. This is only the first of four switches. The next one is to the right. Head down the right path, until you reach a room with several pools. Drop down the second one on the left, and take the path to the switch. After the water pours into the center room, return to it, and take the path straight across from you. In this room, head down the ramp to the right, and up the other ramp, to a switch. Press it, and this room will fill with water. Head back to the newly raised bridge, and cross it to press then next switch. This switch will pour more water into the center room. Return to that room, and take the last path. Continue straight, until the first intersection. Left is nothing, so head right. When you reach the water room, there will be two paths. Ahead of you, and behind you to the left. Take the tunnel behind you, and you will eventually find a chest, and another fight with Zivilyn Bane. --Zivilyn Bane-- Spoils: Vidal Seed Just a typical Zivilyn Bane. Hit him hard, and claim his prize. This time you get the Windsong Orb. Return to the water room, and take the opposite tunnel. Continue on until you reach the fork. There is nothing right, so go left and activate the last switch. Make your way back to the center room, and take a leap of faith. At the bottom, there is only one path. Take it, and you will find yourself in a dry room. Climb the rope to grab a Moonfish, then slide back down and continue on. When you reach the crossroad, grab the Cham, then go straight and grab the Moonberry. Return to the intersection, and take the other path. Continue down this path, until you reach a room with water and a switch. Now, if you want a lot of fights, go straight through the doors. Otherwise, stand on the floats, and press the switch. When the water drops, move over to the float on the side, and press the second switch. Ignore the third switch, and continue down the path. Regardless of which path you take, you will end up at a save point. Save, and prepare for a boss fight. Just a little further, and you will be attacked. --Boss: Tortigar-- Spoils: Moonlight Robe This fight is long, and annoying. Tortigar can block your attacks using his Steelskin move, attack all of your characters for about 1000 damage, and he can heal himself. With that said, your best course of action is to use Prophecy as much as you can. He can't block it, and two in a row will just about finish him off. You just have to hope that he doesn't heal before you can use the second one. Like always, keep your health up, and in time you will win. Your prize is the Blue Moon Crystal. With it in hand, return to Yafutoma. ----Yafutoma---- Items: Sacrulen Crystal x4 When you return the king will want to hold onto the crystal while you are here. So, he borrows it, and throws you a party. After the party, Enrique will defend Moegi from Muraji, who will run off to tell his dad. The next morning, Belleza and Vigoro arrive to have a meeting with the king. Because they have diplomatic immunity at the moment, choose "Wait and see what happens." for a swashbuckling boost. You wait in your room for the meeting to end. Moegi will bust in, and tell you that the Valuans have taken the king prisoner. Your only chance is to escape, so choose "Run and hide." for a swashbuckling boost. Follow Moegi to the escape pod, but grab the Sacrulen Crystals on the right at the intersection, first. Moegi's ship will take you above the clouds, to Tenkou Island. ----Tenkou Island---- Items: Cham, Moonfish There is only one path, so head up the trail to the shrine. Make sure that you grab the Cham on the way. When you reach the shrine you will find Joa and Mao. Before you can whip them again, Prince Daigo will stop the fight. After informing him of the situation, he will summon the Tenkou for war. Choose "Of course." for a swashbuckling boost, and to join the fight. Before you return to Moegi's ship, grab the Moonfish on the left side of the temple. Return to Moegi's ship, and Daigo will offer you a ride on his ship. When you return to Yafutoma, the Tenkou will be battling the Armada. Just when it looks like the fight is lost, you spot the Delphinus, and board it. Fight your way to the bridge, and defeat Muraji. Once you are in control of the Delphinus again, you will be confronted by Vigoro. --Ship Battle: Draco-- Spoils: Captain's Stripe This is a pretty cool fight. You can use the Moon Stone Cannon every turn, but he can use his Draco Cannon every turn. Just slug it out, and heal if you need to. Make sure you have enough SP every turn to use the Moon Stone Cannon. After a few shots (two or three), you will be victorious... at least until Bluheim arrives. --Ship Battle: Bluheim-- Spoils: Captain's Stripe Bluheim's attacks are weak, but frequent. He doesn't have a high defense, but he is evasive. Basically, the best way to fight this guy is carefully. Concentrate your fire into the Critical squares, use the Moon Stone Cannon as much as possible, and heal often. Otherwise, this fight shouldn't be too bad, considering that you are fighting a Gigas. One warning though, if you see that the next turn may start with two red squares, defend on the last round. He has an attack that can blow you off course, and set you up for some punishment. But, if you are defending, you wont get blown too far. After a few shots from the Moon Stone Cannon, you will have killed your first Gigas. After the fight, Valua will retreat, and you will return to Yafutoma. ----Yafutoma---- Items: Blue Moon Crystal (again), Book of Polarity When you return, you will be given the Blue Moon Crystal again, and the Book of Polarity, which can upgrade your ship. Moegi will join you crew, then you will return to the Delphinus. Since Valua blew a hole in the Stone Reef to the East, and you don't want to go back through the Dark Rift, East sounds like a good direction to head. Choose "Let's try heading East." for a swashbuckling boost. The hole is near Ixa'taka, Southeast of Yafutoma. but before you leave head far to the North of Yafutoma, in the area between the sky rift and the Dark Rift, you will find a small island inhabited by an old man named Ryu-kan. If your rating is Daring or higher, he will join your crew as an artisan. After you have him head through the hole, and stop by the Black Market ship to report any discoveries. Land at Horteka, and speak with Hans to recruit him. Then head back to Esperanza and recruit Don. I don't know why Vyse would want a drunk at the helm, but Don is the better Helmsman, in my opinion. One last stop, which is Maramba. If you have a Surian Blade (bought from the equipment shop in Yafutoma), then speak to Kalifa in here shop, and she will join you. There is a lot that you can do now, but return to Crescent Island at this moment. ----Crescent Island---- Items: Moonfish x2, Cham x2 When you arrive, you will make Discovery 46, The World is Round. You will also notice that Crescent Island looks a little different. When you land, Izmael will give you a quick briefing about what he has done. Brabham will tell you that he has some new hull plating for the Delphinus, and when you give him the Book of Polarity, his jaw will drop. These two will now officially join your crew. After all the talking, you will probably notice the girl in pink behind you. Speak to her, and Belle will join you as a Gunner. Check near the crane for a Moonfish, and under the stairs for a Cham. Climb the stairs or the pole, and explore you new town. You will now have a tavern, some rooms, and Kalifa's tent. Izmael and Kirala can upgrade each building once, after that, they just remodel. Izmael makes sailor-style buildings, while Kirala make Yafutoma-style buildings. Izmael can also remodel the fountain (you get it when you upgrade one of the buildings), and he can carve a relief of either Vyse, Aika, or Fina in the rocks above the pond. Kirala has two types of fountains, and can put fish in the pond. After the tavern is remodeled, you have to give money to one of the cooks, to stock the kitchen. After the kitchen is stocked, Polly can make you a Polly's Special if you bring her 10 Grule. Urala will make you Urala's Lunch if you bring her 10 Romuhai Fish. Both are like a portable inn, they restore all HP and MP, but can't be used in battle. Merida also asks for the money, she wants to build a stage. Once a building is remodeled, Pinta will be able to find one animal for you, and he puts it on a floating platform in the pond. If you don't like the animal, he will take it back and get you a new one. Upgrading Kalifa's tent will allow her to tell better fortunes. Inside the caves are the shops. Right now, you can only upgrade Osman's. Speak to her, and she will mention that her shop is too small. I don't know why you should have to pay for the upgrade, but if you do, she will sell better Magic Boxes. Before heading up to the conference room, check the ground near your flag, and you will find a second Cham. Take the elevator to the conference room, and check the corner near the door for the second Moonfish. Head inside, and you will discuss the next Moon Crystal. Your next destination will be the Ruins of Ice, in the Lands of Ice. Before you leave though, go back inside the conference room, where you will find Domingo. if you have enough discoveries, he will give you several stat seeds, and ask you to return when you have 64. With that done, and an upgraded Delphinus, it's time to do some more exploring. The only new Discoveries to be found are 59 and 87. Far to the North of Crescent Island, past the sky rift, and West of the Squid's Nest, you will see a giant squid. Get close enough, and you will have to fight it. --Ship Battle: Obispo-- Spoils: Alloy Deck This fight is actually very easy. The only advice I have is, don't get behind him. You must be behind him for his attack to hit, but you can hit him with your Moon Stone Cannon from the side. He may have a ton of health, but his attack is pathetic. Just keep shooting, and eventually you will win. After this fight, search around Lands of Ice for a giant flying spider. --Ship Battle: Alania-- Spoils: Goddess Figure, Air Purifier Apparently the first thing that Vyse does when he finds a new creature, is to kill it. This fight is easier than the previous one. The only thing going for Alania is it's high dodge rate. Though you may not be able to tell the difference, it's better to attack from it's back. It can't hit you with it's best attack if you are behind it. Like before, just keep shooting until its dead. With this dirty deed finished, search North of Discovery 59, and you will find a Giant Looper. Since we love killing endangered monsters, attack it. --Ship Battle: Giant Looper-- Spoils: Thermal Grease, Captain's Stripe, Hex Shell This Looper is just like all the others. It has a good Dodge and likes to run. The key to this fight is not to rush. If you do too much damage at once, he will escape. He also likes to switch rings, with causes your attacks to miss. Attack him once (maybe twice) a turn, until you can finish him off with the Moon Stone Cannon. You may think that you can finish him off with normal fire, but unless you concentrate on a critical turn, you may miss, and he will run with only a few Hit Points left. If he does run, you will have a chance to fight him again later. ----Various Side Quest Stuff---- Items: Abirik Cham, Black Spot Head to Esperanza, and speak to the tavernkeep. She will want you to visit her mother in Maramba for her. Head over to Maramba and talk to the Kabal Skewer Lady. They will want you to go back and forth several times. Eventually, the tavernkeep will ask you to get some Khale, Kabal, and Gentum. You should already have the Khale from the Spice Island Discovery. Since you don't know anything about the other two ingredients, you should ask the only gourmet that you know. Sail over to Gordo's Bistro, and he will give you some info about the various items. He just happens to have Kabal, so with two ingredients in hand, head over to Nasrad. Speak to the item shop owner, and he will sell you the Gentum. But, before you go, check out the Sailor's Guild. If you check the new bounties, you will find yourself. Since you know that you did no one any harm (Valua doesn't count), you figure that something is up. Vize can be found outside the observatory (the building with all the handprints) in Nasrad. If he is not there, leave and re-enter. If he still doesn't show up, then your normal rating is too low. Fight some more, or come back after advancing the story some. Speak to him, and he will give you a story about how he pretends to be you. You will all head back to your ship to duke it out. --Boss: Vize-- Spoils: Tuna Cutlass, Swirlmarang, Focus Robe Vize, Anita, and Faina are just like you. You have two advantages though, Enrique, and your versatility. For the most part, Faina will heal and use magic, Anita will use the Anita Burst and magic, and Vize will attack with S-Moves. Healing is a must in this fight, and use two healers if you have to, even if it does draw the fight out. If you can stay alive long enough to use a Prophecy, then this fight will go a little smoother. One Prophecy will almost kill all three. After that, take out Faina to prevent healing, then Anita to stop that annoying Anita Burst. Vize may be able to do a lot of damage, but it's usually only to one person. If for some reason you can't use Prophecy, still take Faina out first, as she is the weakest, then Anita and Vize. Fina's Lunar Winds S-Move works well in this fight also, because it negates the stat boosting spells the Faina and Anita like to cast. It make take some time, but persistence will prevail. After the fight, your name will be cleared. Report to the guild, then return to Esperanza. The tavernkeep will make good skewer this time. Bring them to her mother, then report back. All this trouble will net you an Abirik Cham. It may not seem like it was worth it right now, but you will feel much better once you collect all the Chams. Now would be a good time to deliver all the Moonfish that you've been saving. Sail over to Sailor's Island, and find Doc's ship. Seven more Moonfish will get you a Ghostmail, a Sword of Daccat, a Gold Bullion, a Constitution Gem, a Defensive Aura, an Euconyx Idol, and a Fiber Mail. Once you are out of fish, dock at Sailor's Island and check out the guild. You will be given another Black Spot, and you know what that means. Prepare for a tough battle, then head west to find Piastol's ship. --Boss: Piastol-- If you can believe it, she is even stronger than before. Delta Shield is even more vital in this fight, because she likes to cast Eternes, which can kill everyone at once. Another good move to use in this fight is Enrique's Justice Shield. It's more of a gamble than the Delta Shield, but it can half the damage of Piastol's Tempest Dance. It's just a matter of whether or not you think the benefits are worth 4 SP, and losing Enrique's attack. Just like before, a Prophecy attack will hurt Piastol and nearly kill Death Hound. Just a few more attacks will knock out Death Hound, and his healing. With him gone, Piastol will be easier. Just whittle away until you beat her. After this fight behind you, you will pretty much have done everything available to you now. Head to the Lands of Ice, and search for the Ruins of Ice. If you skim along the top of the ice, you should see a dark spot. That is your destination. ----Ruins of Ice---- Items: Cham x2, Ice Splitter, Winter Orb, Frostblade, Moonberry, Purple Moon Crystal As soon as you enter, you will be able to find a Cham. Head on through, and you will find a talking crystal. It will ask you a question, Choose "The power of Ice?" for a swashbuckling boost, and to avoid some fighting. Go through the open door, and you will find another crystal. Choose "Two... maybe?" for a swashbuckling boost, and to avoid more fighting. Continue on to the next crystal, and choose "Will and Spirit." for yet another swashbuckling boost. This will open the way to the city of Glacia. Glacia looks confusing, but it's actually very short. Head down the path until you reach an intersection. Take the left path, and follow it to an Ice Splitter. Return to the intersection, and take the other path. A little further and you will find another intersection. Take the left path, and you will reach a chest guarded by Zivilyn Bane. --Zivilyn Bane-- Spoils: Zaal Seed This is the last chest guarded by a Zivilyn Bane. This fight should be easy; I actually had more trouble with some of the normal monsters. You know the drill; dispose of Zivilyn Bane, and claim his Winter Orb. After the fight, take the other path at the previous intersection. Continue on, and you will reach another intersection. Left is a save point, so first head right. This seems like a dead end, but you will find the second Cham. Return to the intersection, and turn right again. You will find a chest here, containing a Frostblade. Return to the intersection, and go to the save point. Save and press on just a little further, and you will find the boss. --Boss: Veltarn-- Spoils: Crystalen Box This guy has two strong attacks. The first is its Death Laser, which as you may have guessed, can kill one of your characters. The other attack is its Avalauncher, which does almost 2000 damage and affects an area. Normal attacks don't do much, and neither does magic, although it's better than attacking. Use your strongest S-Moves, heal when needed, and focus if you have nothing else to do. Despite its strengths, the Veltarn should fall in a matter of turns. It may take a few Riselem Crystals though. After the fight, continue on. When you reach the large doors, look to the right and grab the Moonberry in the chest before continuing on. In the last room, you will be reunited with an old friend, and an old enemy. After hearing a story, you will obtain the Purple Moon Crystal, and leave Glacia. Choose "Yeah, we should let him go." for a swashbuckling boost, and to say good-bye to Drachma. Return to Crescent Island, so you can plan your next move. ----Crescent Island---- When you arrive, Brabham will inform you that your new engine is ready, and that he will install it in the morning. Head up to the conference room, and you will decide that you can use the Delphinus' new power to enter the Maw of Tartas from below. The next morning, your ship will be able to fly higher and lower. This pretty much opens up the last of the world. This means that it's side quest time again. ----Various Side Quest Stuff---- Items: Cham x2, Moonberry, Moonfish First off is to recruit the last crewmember. Head Northwest of Crescent Island while in the upper sky. When you reach the black dot on the map, in the ocean above Valua, you will find Ilchymis' Hut. Head inside, and speak to him. Ask him to join your crew, and he will refuse. Grab the Cham before leaving, then exit and re-enter. Ask him to join again, and he will say that he will only help someone who knows the Riselem spell. You should have it by now, so he will join. Your crew is now full, so head Southwest, staying in the upper sky. Near Ixa'taka, and the Roc's Nest discovery, you will find a giant bird. Get close, and it will attack. --Ship Battle: Roc-- Spoils: Wooden Doll Roc is actually easier than the other giant monsters. Its attacks are strong, but a few cannonballs will take it down in a hurry. Just fire everything that you have, and Roc will be dead in no time. After defeating the giant bird, return to the Ruins of Ice, only approach it from the bottom this time. When you enter, you will see a chest. Grab it for a Moonberry, and grab the Moonfish nearby. That's all you can find here, so leave and head for the Dark Rift. In the upper sky, above the Dark Rift, you will find a small island, Hamachou Island. The big Hamachou here is really an old man. This guy can tell you your stats, how many monsters you have beaten, how many chests you have opened, etc. But the real reason we came here was for the Cham. Grab it, and leave. Head over to Sailor's Island, and deliver the 22nd Moonfish to Doc. Doc will finish telling you the story about Ramirez. And you will get a Marksman Gun. With that done, you are free to find the remaining Discoveries. At this point, you can find them all, with the exception of Discovery 88. Find everything that you can, and wrap up any loose ends. Be sure to speak with Domingo once you have 64 Discoveries, and you will get a White Map. Return again when you have all 88, but that won't be for a little longer. When you are ready, head over to the Dancing Lights Discovery, and enter the Maw of Tartas. ----Maw of Tartas---- Items: Dexus Seed, Moonberry, Yellow Moon Crystal This is the shortest dungeon in the game. Take a right at the first intersection, and follow the path to the end. Examine the top of the yellow crystal in this room for a Dexus seed. Return to and turn left at the first intersection. At the second, take a left to find a crystal containing a Moonberry. Return to the previous intersection, and take the right path. A little further in, you will find a save point, so save and head down the last stretch. At the end, you will find Yeligar, the Yellow Gigas. The only way to get the Yellow Moon Crystal is to beat Yeligar. --Ship Battle: Yeligar-- Spoils: Captain's Stripe, Thunder Cutlass For me, this was the easiest of all the Gigas. Just keep firing, and use the Moon Stone Cannon when you can. Its attacks aren't strong enough to cause any concern, but don't neglect to heal if you run low on Hit Points. It's safer to attack from above, but you can get in better shots from below. Regardless, this Gigas shouldn't cause much trouble. Beat it, and claim the Yellow Moon Crystal. Afterward, return to Crescent Island. ----Crescent Island---- Well, now you have all the Moon Crystals, but Fina has no way to get them home. Unfortunately, Gilder tells you that Valua has built a base from which they plan to dive into the Deep Sky. Fina's ship is in the Deep Sky... I guess your next destination is Dangral Island. ----Dangral Island---- Items: Moonfish x2, Imperial Blade, Moonberry, Sacrum Crystal x2, 4000 gold, Ship Schematics When you land, you will see a ladder in front of you. Before you climb down it, check the right corner for a Moonfish. Climb down the ladder, and make your way to the power room. Turn off the power to the fans, then backtrack to the fans. Head down the new path until you reach a hall with four doors. The one on the end is locked, so take the door on the wall opposite the door you just came from. In this room, you will find six more doors. Two lead to fights, while the others contain an Imperial Blade, a Moonberry, two Sacrum Crystals, and 4000 gold. Once you have explored all of the rooms, return to the previous hall. There is only one door left, so take it, and follow the stairs down. At the end of the stairs, you will find yourself outside. There is nothing near the edge, so take the opposite door. You should see some papers on a desk, but pass them up for now, head to the end of the dock, and grab the last Moonfish. Grab the papers now, and head back to your ship. When you reach the first hall, you will be greeted by Galcian, fortunately, you will be saved by Gregorio. You are now free to return to your ship. Before you return to Crescent Island though, there are a few new side quests to do. ----Final Side Quests---- Items: Black Spot First is to deliver the last two Moonfish to Maria's bird. The first will net you a Hydra Wing, a Silver Arm, and a Serpent Strike. The last will change Piccolo into his final form. This will trigger Discovery 88, the Moon Hamachou. Report this Discovery to the guild on Sailor's Island. At this time, the guild master will also deliver the final Black Spot. As always, make sure you are ready, then find Piastol. Be sure to, check out the shops for their new goods. --Boss: Piastol-- Spoils: Light Dress For this fight, I recommend using Delta Shield and Justice Shield each turn. Heal after every physical attack with Fina, using crystals to avoid using up SP. Focus each turn with Vyse, until you can use Prophecy. Like before, one shot will nearly take out the Death Hound. Finish it off with normal attacks, then prepare to finish Piastol. It wouldn't be a bad idea to try another Prophecy before normal attacks, but regardless of what you do, keep your defense up. Some time, some luck, and several healing crystals later, you will beat here, and set her life straight. After the fight, visit Doc one more time, for a last scene. With this fight out of the way, we have one left. Head toward the Lands of Ice, and above the clouds, near the Aurora, you should find a golden ship. On board is the seventh Bounty, Daikokuya the Wealthy. --Boss: Daikokuya-- Spoils: Pharax Idol Daikokuya and his bodyguards mostly use physical attacks. Daikokuya can summon new guards, and will do so if there are less than three. He can also cast Eternes, but rarely does. His Golden Flurry attack can confuse everyone, but if you have a status protecting item on Fina, you can use her Luna Cleansing to fix that. Use Enrique's Justice Shield every turn, to minimize damage. If Daikokuya has no more than one Youjin bodyguard, attack him directly with Pirate's Wrath. If he has Two or more Youjins, or you don't have Pirate's Wrath, save up your SP for a Prophecy. One will take out the bodyguards, and about a fourth of Daikokuya's HP. Continue this pattern, using Pirate's Wrath if his Bodyguards are Boos, or Prophecy if they are Youjins. For some reason, if Daikokuya is injured, the Boos try to heal him, but heal each other instead. Whittle down Daikokuya's HP until it's about a fourth left. Finish him and his bodyguards off at the same time with a Prophecy. After this fight, return to Crescent Island. ----Crescent Island---- Items: Domingo's Title Speak to Brabham, and you will begin retrofitting the Delphinus. After 10 days, the repairs will be complete. But before you board the Delphinus, head up to the conference room, and speak to Domingo. If you have found all 88 discoveries, he will give you his title, Treasure Hunter Extraordinaire. Next, speak to Ryu-kan, and he will want to expand his shop, so give him the money. When you are ready, board the Delphinus, and head to the Vortex, near Dangral Island. ----The Vortex---- Items: Velorium x2 Sink down until you reach the bottom. You will get a quick lesson about using the sonar, then you will be free to search. If you search in a spot where there is nothing, you will be attacked. The battles aren't tough, but it will be a little hard to hit the enemy. There are two pieces of Velorium here. If you call your starting position (1, 8), the two Velorium pieces are at (2, 5) and (8, 4). When you have them, check (5, 8) to find Fina's ship. Once you grab Fina's ship, you will be attacked by De Loco. --Ship Battle: Chameleon-- Spoils: Captain's Stripe, Twin Turbo, Magic Shell This fight has two parts. Deal enough damage to the Chameleon and De Loco will hook you with his Harpoon Cannon (and return to full health). While you are in the Deep Sky, you won't have the colored squares like usual. The good news though, is that the Chameleon isn't much stronger than when you fought it with the Little Jack. This fight should be easy for you, although you may miss a little more than you like. After De Loco is disposed of, raise back up to the surface. Once you are out, head over to Sailor's Island to drop off Enrique. Before you arrive, Baltor will attack you. --Ship Battle: Blackbeard 2-- Spoils: Timing Valve, Spherical Figure, Hybrid Wax Just like De Loco, Baltor isn't really any stronger. A strong attack or two will win this fight quickly. After the fight, you will dock at Sailor's Island, and say goodbye to Enrique. Choose "Be Careful." for a swashbuckling boost, then return to Crescent Island. ----Crescent Island---- As soon as you arrive, Clara and Gilder will throw a party for Fina. After the party, your base will be attacked. You will have to fight three Shadows first. They aren't terribly strong, but they can kill one of your party in one hit. If you don't take them down quickly, you could be in trouble. After the fight, you will be confronted by Ramirez. Choose "You'll have to kill us." for a swashbuckling boost, and you will fight him. You can't win, and he will take your crystals after he stomps you. He will retreat before actually killing anyone, leaving you with a destroyed base. When speaking to Aika, choose "I'll never give up." For a swashbuckling boost, then speak to your crew and encourage them. Then, head up to the conference room, and speak to Fina. Choose " I understand." for another swashbuckling boost. Afterward, you will spend the rest of the day clearing debris. That evening, Fina will ask you to go with her to the Great Silver Shrine. Choose "Of course we will go." for a swashbuckling boost. Gilder will offer to go too, and rejoin your party. Before you head out though, check by Ryu-kan's upgraded shop. Re-arm Gilder, and drop off the two pieces of Velorium. When you are re-supplied, hop on Fina's ship, and depart. ----The Great Silver Shrine---- Items: Silver Armor x2, Moonberry x2 I kind of hate giving direction here, because there are no monsters, but I will. Unless you want to explore, there is nothing in this first area. Head straight, and enter the pillar of light. From here, keep walking forward until you reach the chest with the Silver Armor. Return to the previous intersection, and take a right. The next right leads to a Moonberry; grab it and then continue on, upwards, until you reach the end of the long path. At the top, you will find a platform that takes you to the next level. Straight ahead, you will find another Moonberry. Grab it, then take the side path. Continue on until you reach a four-way intersection. Forward is the end of the maze, but first take the left and grab the second Silver Armor. After you have the last of the treasure, head to the end of the maze, and meet the Elders. After a history lesson, choose "Who do you think you are?" for a swashbuckling boost, but then Galcian and Ramirez show up to claim the last crystal. There is nothing left to do here, so return to Fina's ship, and Crescent Island. ----Crescent Island---- When you return, Gilder will tell you that the elevator at Dangral Island is complete. That sounds like the best way to stop Galcian, so board the Delphinus and return to Dangral Island. ----Dangral Island---- Make your way back down to the bottom. This time, instead of going into the dock, head to the right, and hop on the elevator. Before you get very far though, Vigoro will attack you. --Boss: Vigoro-- Spoils: Paranta Seed Vigoro is a lot stronger this time. His cannon can do major damage to one person, or decent damage to an area. Because his counter-attacks are so strong, it's a good idea to only attack him with S-Moves. Focus and heal with Aika and Fina, and use Vyse's Cutlass Fury and Gilder's Gunslinger. If you keep your health up, this fight shouldn't be too difficult, or take to long. After the fight, Vigoro will leave to start a new life. Continue on into the room with the strange machine. Climb the ladder on the opposite wall, and get in the elevator. At the bottom, just head straight until you reach Galcian. Before you reach him though, you will have to fight Ramirez's monster. --Boss: Eliminator-- Spoils: Moonberry This fight is actually easier than Vigoro. The Eliminator has more Hit Points, but a weaker attack. It's a little safer to use normal attacks against this boss, but it's still best to use your strongest S-Moves. Like always, keep your health up, and focus when you have nothing good to attack with. It may take a little while, but you should come out on top. After the fight, Galcian and Ramirez will begin to raise Soltis, and you will have to flee before the place falls. Make your way back up to the surface, and hop on the elevator. When it stops working, you will have to run up the rails. They don't fall too fast, so you should have enough time. When you are back on Dangral Island, you will watch Soltis raise up, then return to the Delphinus. Once on board, just head toward Soltis, and you will be blocked by a Dome of Light. There is nothing more you can do now, so return to Crescent Island. ----Crescent Island---- Items: Vorlik Blade When you arrive, Vyse will try to think of a plan. Enrique will return, and offer some help. But you don't have a force big enough to challenge the Armada, at least until everyone shows up to offer their help. Choose "We can't let Galcian get away with this." for a swashbuckling boost. That night, you will have to comfort Fina and Aika. Choose "Hey, I'm scared too." when speaking to Aika, for a swashbuckling boost. Choose "Say comforting words." with Fina, for another swashbuckling boost. The next morning, the attack begins. Before you board your ship however, visit Ryu-kan, and pick up the sword he was working on. The Vorlik Blade is a great weapon for Vyse, with high accuracy. With it in hand, board the Delphinus, and charge the Armada. Choose "Let's make history." for yet another swashbuckling boost. Your first fight will be a Valuan Mage Ship. --Ship Battle: Valuan Mage Ship-- Spoils: Frost Bomb, Thunder Bomb This fight is easy, just a few cannon blasts will put an end to this fight. Next up is Galcian's Elite. --Ship Battle: Galcian's Elite-- Spoils: Complete Kit, Crystil Cannon, Double Shaft This fight is only mildly harder than the previous. You will take some hits, but nothing you can't handle. Attack hard and it should only take a short while to win. After this fight however, you will be up against the big guy. --Ship Battle: The Hydra-- Spoils: Captain's Stripe, Moon Cannon, Moon Torpedo This fight will take some time. Use the Moon Stone Cannon as often as possible, and heal if you lose more than half of your health. Attack as hard as you can in the beginning, because after a few turns, Galcian will reveal his Hydra Cannon. This cannon will do some major damage, but it can't attack you if you target the top of the ship. After a long fight, with lots of healing, The Hydra will be disabled. After it's been weakened, you will board it to finish Galcian off. ----The Hydra---- Items: X-Cannon, Moonberry, Sacrulen Crystal x3, Magic Dew x2 Once inside, head across the center, and to the right to find a chest with an X-Cannon, then head to the left and climb the pole. Take the nearby ladder to the deck. Once on the deck, take upper East ladder. Slide down the pole to the right, and get the Moonberry and Sacrulen Crystals on either end. Return to the deck, and take the lower West ladder. Grab the chest to the left for two Magic Dews, then return to the deck and take the last ladder, the upper West one. Head across the center, and slide down the pole to the right. To the right, you will find the path to the bridge. Save at the save point, then get ready for the showdown with Galcian. --Boss: Galcian-- Spoils: Valuan Medallion Galcian can be pretty dangerous. He likes to use Silver magic, and an attack called Terminal. Terminal will nearly kill a character at full health, and Silver magic, as you know, can kill you instantly. Fortunately, the Silver magic doesn't work as often as you might think. If it gets to be a problem, use Delta Shield every turn. Otherwise, just focus and heal after any strong attacks. Hit him with your best S-Moves and maybe a Prophecy or two, if you can save up the SP. Stat boosting spells and glyphs work pretty well here, namely a Glyph of Speed to heal before Galcian can attack, or some Glyphs of Might to boost damage. It may take some time, but if you pay attention to defense, you will be fine. After the fight, Galcian will escape, until a surprise hero stops him. Ramirez isn't too happy about this, and tries to fire off another Rain of Destruction. Unlikely heroes too stop him. This will break the barrier around Soltis, making it open for an attack. Before you head in, Drachma and Enrique will offer their help as well. Switch Gilder for one of the others, if you want. Before you enter Soltis though, there is just one more thing to do. Fight Elcian. He can be found inside the Dark Rift. Enter it from the Yafutoma side, and save before you "speak to" the giant Looper. --Boss: Elcian-- Spoils: Dexus Seed, Valuan Medallion I hesitate to call Elcian a boss, because you can fight it as often as you want. This fight isn't too hard if you are prepared. Elcian is the strongest creature in the game; its attacks and magic are both nearly fatal. The other thing that makes Elcian hard, is that it runs a lot. To counter this, equip Vyse with a Black Map. If you don't have one, you can get one from the Loopers around the Looper's Nest Discovery. With a Black Map, Aika's Delta Shield, and Vyse's Skull Shield, Elcian doesn't stand a chance. Use the Delta and Skull Shields every turn. With those two in effect, Elcian can't hurt you, so just focus until your SP is maxed. Once your SP is maxed, use the ever-faithful Prophecy. Two of these will kill Elcian, but he also has healing magic. You will most likely be safe for about two turns after using Prophecy, because he will heal, so focus with everyone. You may need a pair of Pirates' Wraths to finish the job, because Cutlass Fury doesn't do enough to counter-act the healing. Just keep the pressure on and you will win. If Elcian does run away, or if you want to cream him again, just leave the Dark Rift and re-enter. The spoils are only possibilities, you may get one, you may get one of them, you might not get anything. If there is nothing else that you want to finish before the end of the game, charge into Soltis. You can change your fourth party member to anyone you want, but Enrique is very useful here as well. ----Soltis---- Items: Cham x2, Moonberry x2, Orb of Serenity --Boss: Gadianos-- Spoils: Complete Kit, Sparkling Deck, Moon Gun As soon as you enter, a Gadianos will attack you. Gadianos is so weak that it will only take a cannon blast or two to win. After the fight, you will land at Shrine Island. Once inside, you must make your way to the big door at the bottom. The outside paths are gone, but you can walk over the ruined floor. Once at the bottom, open the big door. Inside, you will find a big maze. Go left in the first room, right in the next, straight to the center, then continue on through the center room, straight through the next room, then left, take another left, then straight through, through the center room, straight once more, right in the next room, then right again for a Cham. Head back into the previous room, and straight through to the exit. Once that's done with, keep going straight until you reach the tower. On the first floor, you will find a Cham and a teleporter. Take the teleporter to the next floor, and look for a door. Inside you will find a Moonberry. Once you have that, take the teleporter at the end. Continue on until you reach a floor with another door. Guarding the chest inside, you will find Lord Zivilyn Bane. --Boss: Lord Zivilyn Bane-- Spoils: Sylph Seed Lord Bane can be hard to beat, but doesn't have to be. He will summon new Zivilyn Banes, which adds to the difficulty. In addition, he likes to use his Medicine Box to boost his stats and add regeneration. If you try to do the same, he will wish your bonuses away with his Magic Lamp. Since he won't let you boost your stats, don't let him. Use Fina's Lunar Winds to clear away his bonuses. Don't worry about the Zivilyn Banes, even though they can be annoying. It would take to long to fight them one at a time, so try to survive long enough to use a Prophecy. Enrique's Justice Shield makes this wait a lot easier. One Prophecy will take out all the Zivilyn Banes, and almost half of Lord Bane's health. Two Prophecies, and a few lesser attacks will win this for you. You will spend a lot of time healing, so use Sacrulen/Sacrum and Riselem Crystals to conserve SP. Just keep trying, and be patient. You can win if you are careful. After you defeat Lord Bane, return to the previous room and take the teleporter. You will end up back at the beginning. Take the teleporter up again. This time, take the closest teleporter up. Check the nearby door for another Moonberry, then take the last teleporter. Take the last door and follow the path until you reach the final save point. Save, and get ready for the final showdown. If you want the title of Vyse the Legend, turn back now, and report the defeat of Lord Bane. --Boss: Ramirez-- If you beat Lord Bane, then this fight shouldn't be too hard. Ramirez will use Lunar Blessing to get regeneration, so use Lunar Wind to wipe it out. Ramirez also uses Silver magic, so use Aika's Delta Shield if it gets to be a problem. His strongest attack though is Silver Eclipse. It can do upwards of 2000 damage to the entire party. Keep your health up, and use Riselem Crystals when someone gets knocked out. As is typical, pay attention to defense, and hit Ramirez hard when you have the chance. This fight is the first part of the final showdown, so it's not too hard, but it's far from easy. Once you beat Ramirez, he will merge with Zelos. You can't beat Zelos with normal attacks, so you return to the Delphinus. --Ship Battle: Zelos-- Spoils: Captain's Stripe If you've been equipping the items you got from the recent fights, this should be surprisingly easy. Most of his attacks only do up to 9000 damage (only?), but once he transforms, he will use his Judgment attack, for 19000 damage. Also, if you cast Sylenis on him, it will stop a few of his attacks. Do as much damage as you can before he transforms, but don't bother trying to attack from the side, it can turn faster than you can. Once it transforms, you can tell how close you are to beating it, by the number of claws that fall off. Just keep firing your best cannons, and heal if you get down near 20000 HP. It won't take as long as The Hydra, for example, but it won't be a quick fight. After the fight, you will begin the celebrating your victory, until a creepy new Ramirez lands on the deck. --Final Boss: Ramirez-- Being the final boss, you can expect some cheap attacks. Most of the time, Ramirez will use either the Silver Binds, or the Silver Nightmare. The Binds attack will nearly kill one character, and the Nightmare attack will cause one of your party members to use an S-Move against you. This is sometimes good, like if he uses Aika's Lambda Burst, and sometimes bad, like if he uses the Claudia or Pirate's Wrath. You can try to use Glyphs, if you want, but he may take control of Fina and use Lunar Winds. That wouldn't really be too bad though, considering the alternative. If he uses Drilnos on you, use Fina's Lunar Cleansing to remove it. When you aren't healing, focus and use your best attacks. Keep at it, and Ramirez won't stand a chance. After the fight, watch the ending. Congratulations, you beat the game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------Section 4: Side Quests (sa_side)----------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Side Quests are anything that you can do outside the main story. This game is littered with them. ----Moonfish and Piastol---- A short way into the game, you will meet Doc and Maria. Doc wants you to catch Moonfish to feed to Maria's bird. As you catch them you will get great items, and Doc will reveal some of the back story. Moonfish can be found all around the world. When you are near one, you will hear a sound. 1 - Pirate Isle Near the ship, on the end furthest from the door to the surface. 2 - Sailor's Island Near the tavern, up overhead. 3 - Sailor's Island Can be caught from the balcony at the inn. 4 - Pirate Isle (after Valua) On top of the lookout. 5 - Maramba On the dock farthest from the stairs. 6 - Maramba On the top of the equipment shop. You must use a Dhabu to reach it. 7 - Temple of Pyrynn On the path off the right side of the first boulder area. 8 - Temple of Pyrynn Near the save point in the second lava room. 9 - Horteka Outside the top level of the tavern. 10 - Horteka On top of the platform near the chief's hut (next to Tikatika). 11 - Moon Stone Mountain Near the chest containing the De Loco Drill. 12 - Rixis Near the second floating platform that leads back to the entrance. 13 - Nasrad At the end of the dock near the big cannon. 14 - Daccat's Island Near the Moonberry chest on Vyse's side. 15 - Esparanza On top of the fortified lighthouse. 16 - Esparanza Near the merchant in the back of town. 17 - Yafutoma On the left side of the palace. 18 - Mount Kazai At the top of the rope at the bottom of the center room (the one you fill with water). 19 - Tenkou Island On the left side, inside the shrine. 20 - Crescent Island Below the crane in the dock. 21 - Crescent Island Near the balcony, outside the conference room. 22 - Glacia Must enter from below the clouds. Near the Moonberry chest. 23 - Dangral Island Around the entrance, to the right of the ship. 24 - Dangral Island At the far end of the dock, where you find the Ship Schematics. After each Moonfish, Doc will let you keep what the bird spits up. Though it may sound nasty, it's pretty good stuff. 1 - Riselem Crystal 2 - Warrior's Rune; Doc's Story: Part 1 3 - Flame Mantle 4 - Gem of Fluidity 5 - 50 Sky Sardis 6 - Aura of Valor; Picollo evolves. 7 - Counter Bracer 8 - Riselem Box 9 - Female Armor 10 - White Map 11 - 30 Romuhai Fish and 30 Grule 12 - Warrior's Heart; Picollo evolves. 13 - Ancient Bracer 14 - Magillex Idol; Doc's Story: Part 2 15 - Ghost Mail 16 - Sword of Daccat 17 - Gold Bullion 18 - Constitution Ring; Picollo evolves. 19 - Defensive Aura; Doc's Story: Part 3 20 - Euconyx Idol 21 - Fiber Mail 22 - Marksman Gun; Doc's Story: Part 4 23 - Hydra Wing, Silver Arm, and Serpent Strike 24 - Picollo evolves, and leaves. As you deliver Moonfish, and Doc reveals more of the back story, you will find Black Spots at the guild in Sailor's Island. These Black Spots are challenges from a girl named Piastol. Piastol can be fought four times before you set her life straight. She can be tough, so I have a strategy for each encounter. Fight One This fight is hard. Fight Two Her and her dog have learned some new tricks. Fight Three If you can believe it, she is even stronger than before. Fight Four For this fight, I recommend using Delta Shield and Justice Shield each turn. After you beat Piastol four times, and deliver all the Moonfish, stop by Doc's ship one last time. He will tell you that Piastol stopped by to see Maria, and that she is going to try to get back to a normal life. ----Bounty Hunting---- Throughout the game, you will find more and more bounties at the Sailor's Guild. To of these fights are part of the story, and one is necessary if you want to clear your name. The other five are completely optional. However, these fights are very hard, and very fun. There is no point in trying to level up to beat these guys, because they level with you. 1 - Baltor the Black Bearded You will fight a ship battle with him while protecting the Nasr Merchant. This is your first ship battle, and it's relatively easy. 2 - Rupee of the Larso Clan After you clear the Temple of Pyrynn, you can find Rupee's bodyguard standing on the docks at Maramba. Speak to him, and you will have to fight these two in a normal battle. While it may be tempting to try and take Rupee out first, he has some strong magic and physical attacks, that he uses when he has taken damage. 3 - Gordo the Round Travel far enough into the North Ocean, and Gordo will attack you. This fight is part of the story, and must occur. The most dangerous thing about this guy is his help. Take out the Mad Chefs first, then Gordo will easily fall. 4 - Loose Cannon Lapan Lapan can be found on Sailor's Island, near the equipment shop, after you get the Delphinus. This fight can be tough, but you have a new tool available to you. Work on maxing out your SP. But try to keep weaker characters defended. If you loose someone, revive him or her. 5 - The Ixa'ness Demons After you acquire the Blue Moon Crystal and have recruited Tikatika, you will see a strange ship near the Ixa'ness Village, Southwest of Horteka. Approach it, and three strange girls will board you. After a word fight between them and Aika, they will attack. This fight can be tough, but I'll let you in on a secret. 6 - Vise the Fallen Pirate After you acquire the Blue Moon Crystal, you may notice that your title becomes "Vyse the Fallen Pirate". You may also notice a bounty out on you, but you know that you haven't done anything wrong. You can now find Vize in front of and to the right of the palace in Nasrad. If he isn't there, then your normal rating is two low. Fight some more or advance the story, and try again. He looks just like you, only he wears dark clothes. Confront him, and you will learn that he has been using your name and causing trouble. You can't allow that, so you have to fight him. Vize, Anita, and Faina are just like you. It may take some time, but persistence will prevail. 7 - Daikokuya the Wealthy After you clear Dangral Island, you should find a golden ship in the Lands of Ice, and above the clouds, near the Aurora. On board is the seventh Bounty, Daikokuya the Wealthy. Daikokuya and his bodyguards mostly use physical attacks. 8 - Lord Zivilyn Bane On the top of Soltis tower, you will find Lord Zivilyn Bane guarding the final artifact. Lord Bane can be hard to beat, but doesn't have to be. ----The Four Giant Monsters---- Once you have the Delphinus, you will eventually be able to find four giant monsters floating around the map. These optional fights are great ship battles. You can only fight them once though, so if you want the title of Extravagant, don't fight them until you have Kalifa in your active crew. Anyway, just think of them as terrifying threats to humanity, it will make you feel better about blowing them to pieces. Obispo the Squid Far to the North of Crescent Island, through the sky rift, and West of the Squid's Nest, you will find a giant squid. This is Obispo, first of the giant monsters. This fight is actually very easy. The only advice I have is, don't get behind him. You must be behind him for his attacks to hit, but you can hit him with your Moon Stone Cannon from the side. He may have a ton of health, but his attack is pathetic. Just keep shooting, and eventually you will win. Alania the Spider In the skies over the Lands of Ice, you will find a creepy spider thing. Apparently the first thing that Vyse does when he finds a new creature, is to kill it. This fight is easier than the previous one. The only thing going for Alania is it's high dodge rate. Though you may not be able to tell the difference, it's better to attack from it's back. It can't hit you with it's best attack if you are behind it. Like before, just keep shooting until its dead. Giant Looper the... Giant Looper Between the Stone Reef and the Dark Rift, East of Yafutoma, you will find a giant Looper. This Looper is just like all the others. Roc the Bird In the Upper Sky, North of Horteka, you will find a giant red bird. Roc is actually easier than the other giant monsters. Its attacks are strong, but a few cannonballs will take it down in a hurry. Just fire everything that you have, and Roc will be dead in no time. If you take out all four giant monsters, you will be eligible for the rating of Sky Battle King Vyse. ----Kabal Skewers---- Head to Esperanza, and speak to the tavernkeep. Bring these back to the tavernkeep at Esperanza and she will make good skewer this time. Bring them to her mother, then report back. All this trouble will net you an Abirik Cham. It may not seem like it was worth it right now, but you will feel much better once you collect all the Chams. ----Elcian---- After you beat Galcian, one of the strongest monsters in the game appears. Elcian can be found inside the Dark Rift. Enter it from the Yafutoma side, and save before you "speak to" the giant Looper. You can fight it as often as you want, and this fight isn't too hard if you are prepared. ----The Three Secrets---- Once you meet several requirements, three new secrets open up to you. A new boss, a new weapon, and a new discovery. The requirements are: * 2500 monsters killed * 12 non-story ship battles, including the Four Giant Monsters * All crew members recruited * Found and reported all Discoveries * Beat and reported all Bounties * 90% or more of the chests * Finish the Piastol / Moonfish Side Quest (including the final scene) As for the rewards, they are: --Discovery 89: The Golden Hamachou-- Find it above the rock tunnel near Sailor's Island. This won't show up in your discovery log, and you can't sell it to the guild. --The Ultimate Weapon: The Sky Fang-- The Mystery Merchant will start selling Vyse's ultimate weapon. You can find him in all his usual spots, and you will find this in his normal inventory. It's a bit pricey, at 50000 gold, but It's worth it. Not only is this the best weapon in the game, but it also looks way cool, and it even changes Vyse's smaller cutlass. --Boss: Air Pirate Vigoro-- Spoils: Mesh Tights Try to land at Crescent Island, and you will be given the option to fight a special pirate battle. Choose to, and you will be reunited with an old " friend". Vigoro just won't give up, and now he is an air pirate. He is defiantly stronger this time, but isn't too tough, if prepared. He doesn't have any new tricks, but his attacks are way stronger. I recommend using Enrique for this fight, and using Justice Shield every round. At this point, I had Vyse's attack maxed out (by using seeds), so Pirate's Wrath did 9999 damage. It took five of them to put Vigoro away. The girls should heal every round, and you may want to slip in a glyph when you aren't too hurt. Vigoro's counter-attacks are strong, so it wise to heal, focus, or use glyphs when you are low on SP. Stick it out, and this fight should be no problem. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------Section 5: Discoveries (sa_disc)----------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As you sail around the world, you may notice your compass spinning. If this happens, press A and you should find a Discovery. You can report your findings to the Sailor's Guild, and earn some cash. Of course, choosing poorly and running will lower it. These titles are gained just by progressing. This is a list of the different ratings, the top being the best ones. You do not get a special rating just by becoming King of Rogues. As my list implies, you must earn one more rank, which will be the highest special rank you are eligable for. Special Rating Vyse, King of Rogues Vyse the Hero Vyse the Fearless Vyse the Dashing Vyse the Daring Vyse the Valiant Vyse the Bold Vyse the Admirable Vyse the Respected Vyse the Determined Vyse the Competent Vyse the Blue Rogue Vyse the Unimpressive - Starting rating. Vyse the Cowardly - Obtained by running a lot. Vyse the Fallen Pirate - Automatic after Yafutoma, until you beat Bounty six. Your special rating is determined by your actions. These are some of the ratings you can have. If you meet the requirements for a higher rating before you obtain a lower one, you will skip right over it. Vyse the Legend - Locate all discoveries, 100% of the chests, defeat all of the bounties, and finish the Piastol / Moonfish Side Quest (including the final scene). Vyse the Bounty King - Defeat all of the bounties. Exploration King Vyse - Locate all the discoveries, and 90% of the chests. Sky Battle King Vyse - Fight at least 12 non-story ship battles, including the Four Giant Monsters. Vyse the Fisher King - Catch 1000 fish. Vyse the Battle Lord - Defeat 2500 enemies. Vyse the Extravagant - Must have 1000000 gold and several ship comforts. Vyse the Charismatic - Recruit all 22 crew members. ----Chest Locations---- Because you need to find 100% of the chests to become a Legend, I've listed them here. A location with a * next to it, means that you have to get all the chests here before you leave, because you can't return after a certain point. A chest with a * next to it, means that the chest will be destroyed at some point. Some items cannot be found until unlocked by an event. These are noted with a #, so don't worry if you can't find it right away. All of these items can be found in the walkthrough, so if you can't locate one, check there. * Alfonso's Ship - 4 Sacri Crystal Sacri Crystal x2 50 gold Magic Droplet x2 Pirate Isle - 5 150 gold Sacri Crystal x3 Sacri Crystal x3 Moonberry Magic Droplet x2 Shrine Island - 3 Sacri Crystal x2 * Moonberry Sacres Crystal x2 Sailor's Island - 2 Repair Kit x3 200 gold * Lower City Valua - 2 Sacres Crystal x2 Moonberry * Valuan Catacombes - 6 Curia Crystal x3 Pyri Box Assassin Blade Heavy Armor Sacri Crystal x4 Magic Droplet x4 Maramba - 7 Magic Droplet x3 Slipara Box Nasr Combat Mail 300 gold Moonberry Excavation Arm Gem of Fluidity Temple of Pyrynn - 8 527 gold Ancient Robe Sacres Crystal x3 Dancing Arc 774 gold Moonberry Magic Droplet x5 Rune of Ill Omen Horteka - 4 Moonberry * Sacri Crystal x25 Sacri Box Paranta Seed Moon Stone Mountain - 10 Curia Crystal x 4 800 gold Zaal Seed 3" Blaster, De Loco Drill De Loco Mail Moonberry Glyph of Speed x4 Healing Salve x2 Glyph of Might x4 Rixis - 9 Risan Crystal x3 Stonecutter Sacrulen Crystal x2 Golden Mask 1186 gold Moonberry Light Coat Ruin Arm Icyl Seed * Deserted Island - 2 Moonberry 1827 gold Nasrad - 2 * Sylph Seed # Moonberry Daccat's Island - 13 Skywing Soul Crystal Sacrulen Crystal x2 2001 gold Maiden's Armor x2 Magic Droplet x4 Magic Dew Daccat's Armor Vidal Seed Moonberry Risan Crystal x2 Moonberry Electrum Box * Grand Fortress - 2 Moonberry Unholy Dagger Delphinus - 1 Moonberry Esperanza - 3 2248 gold Valuan Uniform x3 Moonberry Dark Rift - 9 Magus Seed Moss Armor Dream Cutlass 2731 gold Sacrum Crystal x3 Moonberry Moonberry Aura of Valor Chalice of Blood Yafutoma - 2 3000 gold Moonberry # Sacrulen Crystal x3 Mount Kazai - 2 Windsong Orb Moonberry Ruins of Ice - 5 Ice Splitter Winter Orb Frostblade Moonberry # Moonberry Maw of Tartas - 2 Dexus Seed Moonberry Dangral Island - 4 Imperial Blade Moonberry Sacrum Crystal x2 4000 gold * Great Silver Shrine - 4 Silver Armor Moonberry Moonberry Silver Armor * The Hydra - 4 X-Cannon Moonberry Sacrulen Crystal x3 Magic Dew x2 Soltis - 3 Moonberry Orb of Serenity Moonberry Grand Total - 118 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------Section 9: S-Moves (sa_smov)--------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- S-Moves are powerful abilities that can be used during combat. To learn new S-Moves, you have to use Moonberries. They can be found at various places around the game. S-Moves must be learned in a certain order, and the better ones cost more Moonberries. To execute an S-Move in battle, you must have the required amount of SP. -----Vyse---- Cutlass Fury ( SP: 7; Moonberries: 0 ) - Heavy damage to one enemy. Counterstrike ( SP: 1; Moonberries: 1 ) - Defends and counters all attacks made on Vyse, for one turn. Rain of Swords ( SP: 14; Moonberries: 2 ) - Damages all enemies. The Judgment ( SP: 16; Moonberries: 4 ) - Major damage to one enemy. ----Crew Sp.---- Crew Specials are obtained automatically when you get the Delphinus. To use them, you must max out your SP bar during a normal battle, and a new button will appear. Prophecy - With all four characters battle ready (not unconscious, confused, or petrified), you can unleash this ultimate attack. Blue Rogues - This special will heal you party and damage the enemy. It's strength depends on your crew. Attackers: Lawrence, Khazim, Belle, Tikatika, Ryu-kan, Marco, Robinson, Pow, Kirala, Izmael, Pinta Healers: Don, Domingo, Ilchymis, Osman, Kalifa, Hans, Brabham, Merida, Polly, Urala, Moegi ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------Section 10: Magic (sa_magi)---------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As you fight, you will gain Magic Experience. This is applied toward the magic of the color of your weapon. So, if you would like Vyse to learn Green magic, then his weapon should be green at the end of the battle. For every point you earn, you will advance two points in the color of your weapon, and one point in the color of you teammates' weapons. All spells cost 1 MP, but vary in SP cost, Thus, it's best to heal outside of battle, using your strongest spell, if you can. I have listed the spells in the order you learn them. ----Green---- Sacri ( SP: 2 ) - Heals 500 HP for one person. Noxi ( SP: 3 ) - Mild damage and poison to one enemy. And just like your characters, you will need to keep your ships equipment up to date. You can outfit your ship with new cannons, torpedoes, armor, and accessories. ----S. Cannons---- S. Cannons are your ships strongest weapon. They can only be fired at certain times, but are sure to hit. Often times, your S. Cannon is a trigger for special events during battles, so fire it as often as you can. Harpoon Cannon - Att: 350 Hit: 999% SP: 15 Moon Stone Cannon - Att: 800 Hit: 999% SP: 20 ----Main Cannons---- Main cannons are the second most important weapon on your ship. I recommend keeping two of the strongest equipped at all times. Statistically, they may appear weaker than torpedoes or secondary cannons, but their damage depends on the one firing it. Thus, a main cannon will do more damage if Vyse fires it, than if Fina fires it. Advanced Cannon - Att: 150 Hit: 90% SP: 7 Ancient Cannon - Att: 300 Hit: 95% SP: 9 B-Type Cannon - Att: 75 Hit: 90% SP: 6 Crystil Cannon - Att: 550 Hit: 60% SP: 4 G-Type Cannon - Att: 50 Hit: 85% SP: 5 Heavy Cannon - Att: 45 Hit: 85% SP: 5 Main Cannon - Att: 35 Hit: 80% SP: 4 Moon Cannon - Att: 500 Hit: 99% SP: 9 Prototype Cannon - Att: 100 Hit: 85% SP: 6 Pyril Cannon - Att: 200 Hit: 120% SP: 6 Standard Cannon - Att: 40 Hit: 83% SP: 4 X-Cannon - Att: 400 Hit: 97% SP: 10 Yamato Spirit - Att: 250 Hit: 90% SP: 8 ----Secondary Cannons---- Secondary cannons are mostly useless. The only good thing about them, is that their attack can carry into other rounds. This is actually useful for concentrating fire into critical rounds. Otherwise though, their attack just isn't worth the SP. I do recommend keep one equipped though, for the few times that it's useful. 3" Blaster - Att: 80 Hit: 83% SP: 2 Lim: 1 3' Cannon - Att: 280 Hit: 87% SP: 6 Lim: 3 3" Cannon - Att: 70 Hit: 80% SP: 2 Lim: 1 5" Cannon - Att: 90 Hit: 80% SP: 3 Lim: 1 5' Cannon - Att: 330 Hit: 90% SP: 6 Lim: 2 10" Cannon Coil - Att: 220 Hit: 89% SP: 4 Lim: 3 12" Cannon - Att: 170 Hit: 77% SP: 4 Lim: 2 Moon Gun - Att: 400 Hit: 99% SP: 5 Lim: 3 Wevl Cannon - Att: 180 Hit: 120% SP: 4 Lim: 3 ----Torpedoes---- Torpedoes are almost as powerful as a main cannon, and can hit in a turn after they are fired. They do more damage than secondary cannons, and for less SP. The only draw back is their low accuracy. This can be overcome by having Tikatika in your active crew. I recommend having one equiped at any time, unless you want to replace your secondary cannon with second one. Arcwhale Torpedo - Att: 400 Hit: 70% SP: 6 Lim: 3 Heavy Torpedo - Att: 250 Hit: 50% SP: 4 Lim: 3 Hunter Torpedo - Att: 160 Hit: 60% SP: 3 Lim: 3 Light Torpedo - Att: 120 Hit: 60% SP: 3 Lim: 2 Moon Torpedo - Att: 600 Hit: 75% SP: 3 Lim: 3 Serpent Torpedo - Att: 300 Hit: 65% SP: 4 Lim: 2 Shock Torpedo - Att: 160 Hit: 55% SP: 3 Lim: 2 Valuan Torpedo - Att: 220 Hit: 60% SP: 3 Lim: 2 ----Decking---- Decking raises your ships defense, but unfortunatly, is outshined by figures for most of the game. I do recommened keeping one or two installed at all times. Alloy Deck - Def: 70 Armored Deck - Def: 10 Compound Deck - Def: 40 Heavy Armor Deck - Def: 55 Sparkling Deck - Def: 500 Steel Deck - Def: 20 ----Figures---- Figures raise your ships magic defense. Because most attacks are physical, you may want to install a second decking, instead of a figure, but I usually have one of each. Bluheim Figure - MDf: 130 Goddess Figure - MDf: 160 Pyrn Figure - MDf: 30 Pyrynn Figure - MDf: 45 Rogue Figure - MDf: 20 Spherical Figure - MDf: 300 ----Engines---- Engines boost your ships dodge and quick. You can collect them if you want the Extravagant rating, but otherwise, don't bother. Air Purifier - MDf: 2 Chandelier - Def: 1 Enhanced Kitchen - Def: 1 Floor Heater - MDf: 1 Wooden Doll - --- Yafutoman Alcove - MDf: 2 ----Items---- Items all have different effects, and cost no SP. Use them whenever you want to save your SP. Apa Wax - Raises Attack and Defense for two turns. Apo Wax - Raises Attack and Defense for four turns. Big Bomb - Does medium damage, but uses no SP. Wave Bomb - Does minor wind/water damage, but uses no SP. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------Section 12: Personal Gear (sa_pers)-------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You won't make it very far without good equipment.
