Hello, and nice to meet you. My name is Thiago Simoes (alias Simon), and I
am Brazilian. There are not many FAQs about Pop'n Music game series, and
there was none about Pop'n Music Animelo until the very first release of
this FAQ, so I decided to write this one. Pop'n Music GB Animelo is a port
from the Arcade version. It is one of my favorite games of all time, and
it has the benefit of being portable! This is my first FAQ, so I hope you
enjoy this job, since it is 100% done now. Nevertheless, enjoy reading!

+ Final Version (February/2003)
- Hopefully, this will be the final version... and I mean it! It's not a
  major update, I just found out that the Neon Genesis Evangelion theme
  is available in Beatmania GB 2 Gotcha Mix, so I added this information
  to the section 7. That's it... I hope...

- There was a minor problem with Saint Seiya. I mistranslated it to 
  Seitoushi Seishitu, but the correct should be Seitoushi Seiya.

- Improved the ASCII art and slight changes in the layout of this FAQ.

- Added the original translations of the animes and menus from Japanese.

Pop'n Music, as the name implies, is one more Music series by Konami, often
called Bemani. Bemani games includes Beat Mania, Dance Dance Revolution,
Keyboard Mania, Drum Mania, Pop'n Music, Para Para Paradise, among others.
Pop'n Music GB Animelo one of my favorites Bemani games. The graphics are
superb, the melodies are excellent and the gameplay is hard to master.
Though the Arcade version features a nine button pad, there are not as many
buttons on GameBoy Color, so it had to be downed to five buttons. And, if
you ask me, I believe that the five button system is better than the overly
complicated nine-button mess in the Arcade version. Anyway, there are two
other Pop'n Music games available for GameBoy Color, Pop'n Music GB (which
has a very large and diverse song selection) and Pop'n Music GB Disney
Tunes (wich has a new system where you have to hold down the button for
some long notes, very cool). Gotta play 'em all!

The gameplay is very very simple: you just need to hit the horizontal bar 
at the bottom of the game screen. But you also need to align it with the 
notes that keep falling from the top of the screen, and fill your meter 
until it reaches the red area, and keep until the end of the stage. With a
perfect align, you will receive a "Great". If your meter is full, and you
perform a "Great" score, you will receive a "Fever". If you hit the bar a 
bit late, you will receive a "Good". With "Fever", "Great" and "Good" 
scores, you can perform combos. And, finally, if you're completely out of
rhythm or miss the note you will receive a "Bad" score. Also, you can 
perform Nice and Perfect scores:

Nice Play - You must perform only "Great" and "Good" scores in all the 
            notes, in the whole music.

Perfect Play - You must perform ONLY "Great" scores in ALL the notes, in 
               the WHOLE music. It is VERY hard in the advanced songs, but
               possible in easy songs, such as Cha-la-head-cha-la.

Everytime you get a Perfect or Nice Play, you will be rewarded with Special
Pictures about the specific anime. Saddly, there is not a picture gallery,
so you will have to perform "Nice Play" or "Perfect Play" everytime you 
want to see any picture once again. Bellow are listed the details about
every picture in the game:

Mahoutsukai Sally............. Sally is on her broom, with a boy and a girl
                               flying with baloons behind her.
Himitsu no Akko-chan.......... The little girl is looking at herself in a
                               hand mirror, and her body is reflected in 
                               two big mirrors.
Tiger Mask.................... Shows the man with the Tiger Mask and behind
                               him a winged tiger under a light-red sky.
Ge Ge Ge no Kitarou........... All the main people from the anime is shown,
                               includding that weird eye-shape character 
                               again...
Mazinger Z.................... Shows a guy, a girl and a Robot. This is one
                               of the hardest pics to get!
Cutie Honey................... Shows the red haired character in a colorful
                               (too colorful, to be exact) background.
Getta Robot!.................. By far, this is the hardest picture to get.
                               The picture shows one Robot from a bottom 
                               view. 
Majokko Meg Chan ............. The picture shows a pink haired witch and a
                               girl with an umbrella. This character was 
                               not present in the music clip.
Tonchinkanchin Ikkiuu San..... The picture shows the guy that was sweeping,
                               sitting down in a traditional japanese 
                               style.
Captain Harlock............... The picture shows the captain and two other
                               characters. Behind them there is one 
                               spaceship.
Galaxy Express 999............ All the characters are present in this 
                               picture! Behind them there is a view of 
                               the outer space.
Hana no ko Lun Lun............ There are a guy and a girl, dressed in 
                               medieval clothes. The background is very
                               colorful.
Dr. Slump & Arale Chan........ Arale Chan is wearing a cap where her name
                               is wrote. Behind her there is a green haired
                               doll.
Kinnikuman.................... Kinnikuman (or Muscle), is performing a hero
                               move. Behind him is the outer space, and a 
                               pink planet on the left.
Seitoushi Seiya............... From the left to the right, the picture 
                               shows Hyoga, Shiryu, Seiya, Ikki and his 
                               brother Shun, all the five Warriors of
                               the Zodiac.
Dragon Ball................... The picture shows Son Goku in his child 
                               form, and behind him that huge dragon that
                               appears when he gets the seven Dragon Balls.
Dragon Ball Z................. The picture shows Trunks, and behind him,
                               Cell's face.
Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon... The picture shows Usagi blinking one eye to

          and one strange Japanese hero with a red-beetle style uniform.

          wonder why...
