It's not missing anything of note, but given my track record (see my other two FAQs, Age of Empires: The Rise of Rome and Legend of the River King) I will probably find something. Oh, and if anyone can tell me how to make either an 'o' or an 's' in ASCII art, I would be most appreciative. I cannot stress that enough. My cows got really angry one time). When they are sick, use the medicine. Chickens: Feed them and collect their eggs. Wow! I devoted a whole section to that! Am I an idiot or what? Chapter 7: To be a Ranch Master To win the game, satisfy the following criteria: 1: Eat at least six Power Berries 2: Own four adult cows 3: Own four chickens 4: Have an Ultra-Deluxe House 5: Have at least 66,000G 6: Have a happiness rating of 250 or higher 7: Have things growing on at least 1,600 squares of your ranch 8: Ship at least 4,500 units Chapter 8: Tools Sickle: Harvests fodder from grass Upgrade: Golden Sickle After having given the harvest sprites 30 mushrooms, talk to one. The first one you see will ask you if your sickle is working well. Answer 'yes' and he (it?) will return it to you in 12 hours (12 REAL hours). It cuts nine squares around you Hoe: Prepares ground for planting; sometimes uncovers money or power berries Upgrade: Golden Hoe Talk to the same Harvest Sprite after getting the Golden Sickle. Answer the question in the same way. It takes 24 hours (24 REAL hours). The Golden Hoe cuts six squares in front of you Axe: Breaks up tree stumps with six hits Upgrade: Golden Axe After the earthquake (see 'Important Dates' Section) go to the northernmost part of the cavern with your axe and press 'a' to throw it into the lake (from between those two pillars). The Harvest Goddess will appear and ask if it is yours. Reply 'no' and she will give you the Golden Axe, which breaks up stumps in one hit. Hammer: Breaks up large boulders with six hits; small rocks with one hit Upgrade: Golden Hammer The Carpenter will come to the ranch at some point and ask if he can borrow your hammer. If you say 'yes' he will return with the golden hammer. Say 'no' and you will not receive it. It will break up all rocks in one hit. Watering Can: Waters the square in front of you Upgrade: Sprinkler Can be bought from the tool shop for 2000G and your watering can on the 18th of Spring (or earlier if you are a girl). Waters nine squares around you. Chapter 9: Important Dates 10th Day of Spring (First Year Only): Horse Arrives (Can be ridden at the end of Summer) Last Sunday of Spring: Picnic Beginning of Summer (First Year Only): Earthquake Sometime in Summer: Typhoon (That's hurricane those of us _not_ in the pacific rim) 20th Day of Summer: Meet with the 'gals' in your meeting place at 6:00 10th Day of Fall: Vegetable Festival 24th Day of Winter: Christmas Party Chapter 10: Glitches and Cheats Glitches: Thetexthasissues Occasionally, the text loses all spaces and it is hard to read. Those Damned Sprites!!! That mischievous bunch known as the harvest sprites sometimes take your Hoe or Sickle and never return them. Other times, they will take your sprinkler for no reason and you will have to buy a new one. So-me-ti-me-s Th-e Gr-a-phi-cs Mo-ve Sl-o-w-ly When walking with your cows or when a frog appears from cut grass, your character will move slowly. Cheats: Use your watering can on a subterranean mushroom to fill it up. To get the rumored golden hen (ooh... ahh...) trade the same two hens back and forth with a friend in the 'Ranch Center'. Eventually, you should both end up with one. Grandpa's 'Rainy Day Money' (1000G) can be found in the drawer next to your bed before you upgrade your house. To get a 'Blessed Cow' you must pray at the church at least ten times a day (beginning with the first day). When you buy your first cow, The Harvest Goddess will make it constantly happy and give large milk. To have your cows grow faster, begin their names with symbols. Use only the original sickle. Throw an egg on the wall above the shipping bin and use the sickle once, sell the egg. (I can't get this to work, so don't e-mail me asking me how.) If a chicken lays an egg above the shipping bin, water the egg. It will turn into a piece of fence. Pick it up and sell it. If you do this code you can't expand your house. (I don't know how to get this one to work, either.) Fake Codes: The baby cow in two days trick doesn't work. I don't know what it is, but I know it doesn't work. Having a cat neither prevents typhoons or gets you free seeds. Pressing 'A' 'B' 'Start' and 'Select' at the title screen gets you nothing. You can't sell an egg for the price of a chicken. I don't know what the person who came up with that was smoking at the time, but it wasn't anything legal in the United States, I can tell you that much. Chapter 11: Gameshark Codes Don't let the title fool you. I don't look down on people with Gameshark. I even bought one for N64. It doesn't mess up anything (and frankly, whoever thought that up must have been smoking the same thing as the 'egg for the price of a chicken' guy). I do, however, hate the company because when my Gameshark crashed for no reason, and I e-mailed the customer service people, I got !@#$ in return. BTW (By the Way) I am in no way responsible if it does mess up your game, even if I said that it doesn't. Anyway, I got these from the Gameshark Creator's Club, and enjoy! A: Press 'Start' after picking it up and you will put down the other tool you are carrying. You can only have two at once. Q: How do I take my cows for walks? A: You must push them one at a time out the door of the barn, then walk outside. Q: Where is the vaccine? A: I have no idea. I guess that isn't really an answer. Q: I think I did a really good job this year, but the ranch master only expanded my ranch and told me to work harder. Why? A: My theory is that the ranch master is trying to live vicariously through you, since he is dead. As a result, he is impressing expectations greater than should be placed on you because of the emptiness in his 'life'. It probably has something to do with the fact that his mother told him he wasn't good enough a few times or something. Q: That's all well and good, but really, why? A: I think that you have to accomplish a few goals towards becoming a ranch master first. Q: Do you have any plans for global domination? A: Yes, it involves selling poisoned fish as fertilizer to several ancient civilizations, thus limiting their understanding of many things and establishing myself as a god with my technology and greater understanding of science. Chapter 13: Shameless Self Glorification I am wittier, smarter and better looking than you. I feel better now.
