Story ========= The story is kinda cheesy. When you start the game, Mario, Luigi and Wario hop out of three pipes, and they each head into the castle. Peach gave Mario a letter, stating she had a cake baked for them. They never returned. Lakitu woke up Yoshi to see where they were. It appears that Bowser has locked all doors in the castle, and has stolen ALL Power Stars. Now it's up to Yoshi to find Mario and the others and find all the Power Stars, and defeat Bowser. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ============= II. Controls ============= "A" Button: Punches as Mario/Luigi/Wario, Kicks in Air as Mario/Luigi/Wario, Spits out tounge as Yoshi, Wall Kicks with Mario if you are touching a wall, does a three-hit-combo if pressed three times in a row, does a sharp sideflip if pressed right when making a sharp turn to the left/right, if pressed thrice while standing still, makes Mario take off flying if Power Flower is in effect, throws an enemy if held, picks up an enemy, shoots out of cannon. "B" Button: Jumps, Scuttles with Luigi for a short time if held while in air, backflips while crouching, Long Jumps if both the jump button and the R Button is pressed at the same time while running, spits out enemy as Yoshi if one is in his mouth, slides on belly as Mario, Luigi/Wario if pressed while in air and while holding Up, does a Flutter Kick with Yoshi if held while in the air, grabs onto a cage, holds onto a cage if held, dismounts Koopa Shell while riding. If in Touch Screen Control Mode, does stuff like jump, etc. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ================ III. Characters ================ There are quite a few characters in this game. I'll list them in this section. ================ Hero Characters ================ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mario Unlocked By: Defeating Goomboss Natural Abilities: Wallkick, Punch, Kick, Jump, Duck, Backflip, Crawl, Ground Pound Power Flower Abilities: Wingcap, Balloon Mario How To Unlock: Collect 8 Stars and open the door in the Rec Room. Enter the Mario Painting and get to Goomboss and defeat him to get the Mario Key. Description: Mario has appeared in EVERY Mario game (hence the name "Super Mario", duh), and has continued to grow in games and popularity since the 1980s. There have been MANY games where Mario makes an appearance. Bowser always kidnaps his girlfriend, Princess Toadstool (aka Princess Peach), and has done so also in this game. Mario is useful throughout some of this game where Wallkicks are required. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Luigi Unlocked By: Defeating King Boo Natural Abilities: Punch, Kick, Jump, Duck, Backflip, Crawl, Scuttle, Walk On Water, Ground Pound Power Flower Abilities: Invisibility How To Unlock: To unlock Luigi, collect 15 Stars and go to where the basement door is, but don't go in there. Instead, go north of there and you'll see a Boo. Follow it out the door and you'll appear in the courtyard. Go left and kill the Boo that shows a Merry Go Round type thing. Approach it to enter Big Boo's Haunt. In Big Boo's Haunt, complete the first star and then go up the stairs in the main room. Enter the door to the far right. In here, have Mario and you'll see a red "?" block. Break it and grab the flower. Float to the balcony above you and enter the door. Enter the Luigi Painting there and defeat King Boo at the end to get the Luigi Key. Description: Luigi looks very similar to Mario, only taller and with a green cap and overalls. He is jealous of his brother because Mario always gets all the glory and attention. Although, Luigi can be proved VERY useful throughout over half of the game. If it wasen't for Luigi, the game would be 2x harder than it already is. He also wants to save Princess Peach and recover all the Power Stars. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Wario Unlocked By: Defeating Chief Chilly Natural Abilities: Punch, Kick, Jump, Duck, Backflip, Crawl, Pick Up Signs, Ground Pound Power Flower Abilities: Metal Wario How To Unlock: You must have beaten the Bowser stage "Bowser in the Fire Sea" first, and then you must have Luigi unlocked. Get out Luigi, and head to the top floor. There, enter the door with no number on it, and with a red carpet beside it. This is the Mirror Room. Grab a Power Flower off of one of the pillars there, and go through the mirror. Jump in the Wario Painting and defeat Chief Chilly at the end to get the Wario Key. Description: Wario is still the fat and ugly guy he always was. In this game he is not very useful execpt in small parts of the levels. Nearly all the Toads in the castle make fun of Wario because of his overweight ness. Though, his ability to break black bricks and pick up signs makes him quite the powerpack. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Yoshi Unlocked By: N/A Natural Abilities: Lick, Jump, Duck, Backflip, Crawl, Flutter Kick, Ground Pound Power Flower Abilities: Flamethrower How To Unlock: You start the game using Yoshi. Description: Yoshi is one of Mario's biggest buddies (next to Luigi, of course). This little green dinosaur is the only hope in saving Mario. His ability to eat an enemy and hatch an egg can be quite useful at times, as can his flutter kick. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ================ Boss Characters ================ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Bowser Found: Bowser in the Dark World, Bowser in the Fire Sea, Bowser in the Sky Abilities: Fire Breath, Stomp, Shockwave, Run Description: King Bowser, also known as King Koopa in the cartoons, is Mario's mortal enemy. He is a big turtle-like dragon-type thing that always wants to stop Mario and Luigi to capture Princess Toadstool. No matter how many times Mario stops him, he refuses to give up. In this game he is back, and Mario must rescue the Princess...again. You fight him three diffrent times in this game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ King Bob-Omb Found: Bob-Omb Battlefield Abilities: Bomb Spawn, Pick Up, Throw, Bounce Description: King Bob-Omb is just the boss of Bob-Omb Battlefield. You first fight him with Yoshi, then with Mario/Luigi/Wario. He is very easy both times, and rewards you with a star for your victory each time you defeat him. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Koopa The Quick Found: Bob-Omb Battlefield, Tiny Huge Island Abilities: Run Description: He's actually not really a boss, but I consider him one anyway. All you do is race him in the two levels: Bob-Omb Battlefield, and Tiny Huge Island. In the first level, he is extremely easy. The second time, he is hard if you don't know what you're doing. After you get the hang of it, though, he is easy. He rewards you with a star both times for your efforts. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Goomboss Found: Goomboss Battle Abilities: Run, Goomba Spawn Description: Goomboss is the king of all Goombas, and he is holding the Mario Key which you need to unlock Mario. He can really do no damage considering all he does for the whole battle is run around. After you beat him, you get the Mario Key. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ King Boo Found: Big Boo Battle Abilities: Move, Disappear, Disappear into Mirror Description: King Boo is the king of Boos (duh), and he holds the Luigi Key. All you gotta do is trick him to let you punch him in the back. After you defeat him, you get the Luigi Key for your efforts. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Chief Chilly Found: Chief Chilly Challenge Abilities: Run Description: Just some big ice bully, like the one seen in Snowman's Land. In my opinion, this one is the hardest out of all two faught (Goomboss, King Boo). All he does, though, is run around the stage in an attempt to bump you. The downside is that it is a very slippery stage, and you can easily be knocked into the cold ice, which is what makes him the hardest boss out of the bosses that hold keys. After he is defeated, he gives up the Wario Key. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Fire Bully Found: Lethal Lava Land Abilities: Run Description: This bully is found two different times in the stage Lethal Lava Land. After you defeat him each time, you get rewarded with a star (as usual). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ice Bully Found: Snowman's Land Abilities: Run Description: Much like the Fire Bully, only on ice, and in Snowman's Land, and changed looks. You defeat him the same way you do the Fire Bully, and get a star for defeating this sorry excuse for a boss. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ King Whomp Found: Whomp's Fortress Abilities: Walk, Stomp Description: This boss is even easier than King Bob-Omb. I mean, wow, for the King of Whomps, he sure isn't too strong. All he does is walk very sluggishly, and attempt to stomp you miserably if you get close to him. After he is dead, you get a star. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Eel Found: Jolly Roger Bay Abilities: Swim Description: This isn't even a boss, really. I don't know why I put him in here. All he does is swim around in the water, with a star on his tail. If you touch the star, you get the star. Pretty simple. But if you touch the eel, he can hurt you quite a bit. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mama Penguin Found: Cool, Cool Mountain Abilities: Walk, Slide Description: Much like Koopa the Quick, the Mama Penguin just races you to the end of a slide. However, you may not cheat in any way (use shortcuts, etc.), or she will not give you the star at the end of the race. You must also find her lost penguin in another given mission. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Wiggler Found: Tiny Huge Island Abilities: Walk, Run Description: We all know much about a Wiggler. It is in this game, and is found in Tiny Huge Island. After you hit it two times, it gets very angry, turns red, and goes on a rampage. After you defeat it, it calms down and gives you a star. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ========================= Miscellaneous Characters ========================= ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Baby Penguin Found: Cool, Cool Mountain Abilities: Walk Description: This little penguin is in Cool, Cool Mountain, and must be carried safely to his mother. If you do it for him, his mother will reward you with a star. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ukiki Found: Tall, Tall Mountain Abilities: Run, Cap Steal Description: Ukiki is a monkey that is only found in Tall Tall Mountain. If you catch it, it will steal your cap, and you must catch it again to get it back. However, if you catch it on a certain objective, it'll show you the way to a star, and break the cage, giving you access to it. There are also many glitches that can be done with this monkey (depending on your game version). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Klepto the Condor Found: Shifting Sand Land, Tiny Huge Island Abilities: Fly, Cap Steal Description: Many, MANY people consider this bird the most annoying enemy in the game (as do I). He appears in Tiny Huge Island and Shifting Sand Land. He also holds a star that you must get from him. After that, however, he will begin attempting to fly over you, taking your cap. You must hit his feet to get it back. Although, this bird is the only way to find out what version of the game you have. Check section X for details on this. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Toad Found: Mushroom Castle (Various Rooms) Abilities: N/A Description: Toad. We ALL know who Toad is. In this game, there are many Toads spreaded in the whole castle. Some of them give you advice, while others either take up for you, or insult you (use Wario to talk to them and see what I mean by insulting). It all depends on what character you have to see what each one of them says. Three of them give you a star, regardless of what character you have out. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Princess Toadstool Found: Ending Abilities: N/A Description: Princess Toadstool is the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom. In nearly (if not) EVERY game, she is kidnap by Bowser, for whatever reason. And Mario rushes to rescue her. The same cycle occurs in this game. She has a deep-pitched voice in this game, and sounds like an I don't know what. You only see Toadstool in the beggining of the game and at the end of the game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Chain Chomp Found: Bob-Omb Battlefield Abilities: Chomp Description: This chain chomp is huge, and is found at Bob-Omb Battlefield. He can damage you really badly if you get hit by him. You must pound the stake he is connected to so he can be released. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Pink Bob-Omb Found: Various Levels Abilities: Open Cannon Description: These little guys are harmless. They do not attack you like the black Bob-Ombs, but instead they open cannons and tell you the locations of the eight red coins on each level. There is one (two if you are on an eight red coin star) spreaded throughout each level. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Evil Piano Found: Big Boo's Haunt Abilities: Chomp Description: This enemy piano can be found in Big Boo's Haunt. When you get close to it, this piano will come to life and attack you. If it hits you, it will take a few pieces of health off. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ =========================== IV. Power Flower Abilities =========================== ======== Wingcap ======== The wingcap is one of Mario's two Power Flower Abilities. It allows you to fly in the air for a decent amount of time. This ability is required to get certain Power Stars, and will be very useful during your quest. ================ Balloon Ability ================ This is Mario's second and last ability. It is very slow, and it allows Mario to become a big balloon and float around in the air for a short time. This is a good ability at some points in the game to reach areas easier than you would via the Wingcap. ============= Invisibility ============= This is Luigi's Power Flower ability. It temporarily allows Luigi to become invisible and slip through gates to access stuff such as Power Stars and stuff like Switches for Switch Stars. This can be useful at some times. ============ Metal Wario ============ This ability allows Wario to become metal for a short time. While metal, you can walk underwater and go through jetstreams to get normally impossible to reach stars. Wario's weight is probably what helps this ability the most... ============= Flamethrower ============= This is Yoshi's Power Flower ability. It's barely even useful. All this does is put a flame ball in his mouth. As you press the action button, you will spit out flames from your mouth. This is only useful for maybe a couple of stars, as it melts the coldest ice blocks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ =============== V. Walkthrough =============== When you begin the game for the first time, you will recieve a letter from Princess Toadstool, asking you to come to the castle, as she has a cake baked for Mario and the others. The screen will fade in, and you'll see Lakitu flying around the castle, and Yoshi is sleeping on the roof. Mario, Luigi, and Wario come out of three pipes, and enter the castle. They never return, and Lakitu awakens Yoshi and would like you to investigate. =================== Outside the Castle =================== When you gain control of Yoshi, go directly north and cross the bridge. Examine the castle door. Oh snap! It's locked! Well, we can fix that right away, can't we? Go back and Lakitu will inform you that he saw a rabbit holding a key, and that he marked the location on the Touch Screen. Look on the Touch Screen, and follow the path of the shining key. The rabbit here is quick. Chase him down and try to swallow him by using your tounge. Once you eat him, he will become terrified and beg you to spit him out. Once Yoshi does so, he will give you... the key to unlock the castle! Yay!! Now, go to the front castle door again, and Yoshi will place the key into the door, and enter the castle. ================ Mushroom Castle ================ When you enter here, Bowser will give a speech about how everyone is trapped inside of walls and stuff. When he finally stops talking, go west and up the stairs, and enter the door with a empty star symbol on it (it has no numbers on it). In here, jump into the Bob-Omb Painting to enter your first course. =============================== Course #1: Bob-Omb Battlefield =============================== =================================== Star #1: Big Bob-Omb on the Summit =================================== To get this star, look on the Touch Screen and look at the shining star. Since this is your first star ever, I will guide you on where to go in this level, just so you will get used to the way the game plays. Go directly north across the bridge, then take a turn to the left. Avoid the Chain Chomp and proceed across the next bridge. Hop on this ledge, and go northeast. You will see some boulders rolling. Run across those and proceed up the summit while avoiding the rocks and jumping across ledges. When you finally make it to the top, you will see King Bob-Omb. Approach him and he will start talking. When he is finished, you will enter combat against him. Wait until he throws a bomb, then eat it and spit it at him. He will bounce around the arena, and continue to throw bombs. Repeat the above process two more times to defeat him. He will give you a star. ======================================= Star #2: Footrace with Koopa the Quick ======================================= When you begin this level, ignore Koopa the Quick for now. Go north across the bridge and look for a Goomba wearing Mario's cap. Either kill it or eat it and get the cap. You will turn into Mario. If you get hit, however, you will lose the cap and become Yoshi again. Anyways, head back down the bridge and speak with Koopa the Quick. He will want to race you to the top of the summit. Accept his challenge, and beat him to the top. Wait until he arrives at the top, and then he will give you the star (if you beat him). ========================= Star #3: 5 Silver Stars! ========================= I will tell you where each Silver Star is one by one. You will also notice how there is a sphere in front of you. This is where the Power Star will appear after you've collected all the Silver Stars. Anyways, here is where all the silver stars are located. You can also look on the Touch Screen. 1) For the first one, head north from the start and jump on the tree next to the bridge. Climb it to the top and jump. 2) For the second one, go north across the bridge and you will notice a Chain Chomp running about the area. He has a silver star on his tail. Chase it down and eat the silver star to get it. 3) From #2, go left and avoid the huge Chain Chomp. Cross the bridge, and take a left. One of the Goombas in this area holds the silver star. 4) From #3, jump on the nearby ledge, and go to the northwest corner. A silver star is in bushes there. 5) For the last one, proceed to climb up the summit. About half way up, you should notice two trees, a box, and two Goombas. One of the Goombas has the last one. After you successfully collect all 5 Silver Stars, a Power Star will appear in the sphere at the beggining. Go there and jump on the sphere to break it open and obtain the star. =============================== Star #4: Big Bob-Omb's Revenge =============================== For this star, you MUST get the Mario Cap. After you get the Mario Cap, proceed to the summit (once again). Once you are there, you will (yet again) meet King Bob-Omb. This time he is even EASIER than he was before. When you engage in combat with him, simply walk slowly behind him and pick him up from his back. After you've grabbed him, press A again to throw him. He will hit the ground. Repeat the above process two more times to get the Power Star (pretty easy). ================================ Star #5: Mario Wings to the Sky ================================ You MUST have Mario unlocked before attempting this star. Skip to the next one if you don't have him, and come back to this one later. Although, alternately, you could use the second method to get this star. If you want to use the second method, read below. As Mario, go ahead and talk to the pink Bob-Ombs at the start. They will open up the cannon in several areas of the level. Now, go north and across the bridge, and you'll notice several hills in the area (they are grey). The one that dosen't have a red coin in it is the one you need to go up. Run up that hill and drop into the cannon. Look above, and you'll see an island in the sky. Aim and shoot onto the island. There are two things you can do from here. 1) If you would rather do this the real (and a little harder) way, then wait until you make the red "?" blocks solid before coming to this star. Then, use the Wingcap to fly. While flying, collect the coins in the middle of the coin rings. There are a total of five. 2) Hop in the nearby cannon, and shoot into the middle of the coin rings. You must collect the middle coin in the middle of all five coin rings. After you do this using either Method #1 or Method #2, a Power Star will appear. Get to it and grab it to complete this one. ============================== Star #6: Find the 8 Red Coins ============================== For this star, I will guide you through how to get each red coin, and where they are located. 1) For the first one, head across the bridge and you'll notice two platforms that float about. A red coin is above these platforms. Either grab it while in the air, or use the platforms to get it. 2) For this one, go directly north from #1, and you'll notice a small hill. A red coin sits up there. 3) For #3, go to where the huge Chain Chomp is. There is a red coin on top of his stake he is connected to. 4) To get this one, go north from #3 and cross the bridge. Take a left, and you'll find a red coin in the area. 5) This one is in the same location as #4. 6) For this one, go to where the rolling rocks are (right before you begin climbing the summit). Instead of climbing the summit, drop down the area by the gate leading to the summit. You will be in a tunnel. In this tunnel is the red coin. 7) Climb up the summit until you see a hill going down. Slide down the hill and grab the red coin on the way down. If you miss it, you can crawl back up the hill and grab it (yes, it is slow but it works). 8) To get the last one, use one of the cannons to shoot onto the small island in the sky. The red coin is above the tree. After you achieve all red coins, a Power Star will appear in the area with all the stakes. Go to that area and retrieve your prize. =================================== Star #7: Behind Chain-Chomp's Gate =================================== This is by far the easiest star to get. Go to the area with the huge Chain Chomp, and jump on his stake. Perform a Ground Pound on it three times to release him. He will break the gate containing the star, and jump away. Retrieve your prize. Groudon199 wrote an alternate strategy: Another way to get this star (possibly the fastest, easiest & safest way) is as Luigi, collect the power flower near the bridge at the start and just quickly run toward the Chomp. Just run through the gate and you got the star. And don't worry about the Chomp. While invisible, it just goes right through Luigi. Another strategy wrote by MegaKnuckles777: To get the 7th star in Bob-Omb Battlefield without taking damage and very quickly, use Wario and get the Power Flower next to the cannon near the mountain's gate. Run to the Chain Chomp's post and pound it. Since Wario is so strong, It'll only take ONE pound to do it.And if the Chain Chomp hits you, you are Metal, and will receive no damage. Grab the star afterwards. =========================== Star #8: Collect 100 Coins =========================== This one is actually quite easy to get (compared to other 100 Coin Stars). The best star to select for this one is #4, as it has the most coins out of all the missions on this level. Anyway, to get this 100 Coin Star, make sure you kill every single Goomba and get the coins from them. Make sure also that you get every last Bob-Omb, and the coins from them. There is also a Koopa Troopa in the area near the huge Chain Chomp. If you stomp on it twice, you will get a Blue Coin (worth five coins). There are also the 8 Red Coins, which you will need to get this star. Also, run around all the stakes you find (the Chain Chomp's stake dosen't count) five different times to have five coins pop out of them. There are also coins around the bushes, and in the red boxes (requires Mario to punch them). There are also some in the ring of coins on the floating island. After all this, you should defenitely have 100 Coins. Now just achieve your star, whether it be in the air or on the ground. Either way, after you get it, save and pause and exit this course. ================ Mushroom Castle ================ After you get at least three (or as much as possible) stars in the first stage, head back to the main room. In here, go to the topright corner and open the One Star Door. Just exit this room for now. Now, jump down and open the door with a "3" on it (if you can), and open yet another door with a "1" on it. Now, open the last door near the Bob-Omb Battlefield entrance with a "3" on it. Head to the one star door (not the one that leads to the big room with four doors). Enter the painting to enter the second stage. ============================ Course #2: Whomp's Fortress ============================ ================================ Star #1: Chip off Whomp's Block ================================ To do this star, head north and jump on the ledge there. Go up the ramp and then take a left. Walk very slowly and when you get to the Piranha (without waking it up), punch it to kill it. Now, go left and either sidle along the wall there, or run across the bridge. Either way, go north and either kill or avoid the piranha, then when the bridge thing comes to you, walk on it. Now, either run in the middle of it, and go north when it allows you to cross, or when it carries you over that grey thing, jump. When you are on the next ledge, go east and avoid the Whomps. You will see two elevator platforms. Use them to get to the top to meet King Whomp. To beat him, go next to his feet. He will try to stomp you. Run away from it, and when he lands, jump on his back and Ground Pound him. Repeat this process two more times to get the star from him. ==================================== Star #2: To the Top of the Fortress ==================================== The same way you did the last star is how you do this star. Get to the very top of the fortress (where you met King Whomp), and you'll see a huge tower, and a cannon that fires out Bullet Bills. Jump on the lowest platform and then to the highest, and repeat. If you fall off, try again. Once you make it, jump to the top of the tower, and achieve your star. ================================== Star #3: Shoot Into the Wild Blue ================================== For this star, go north and hop on the ledge. Instead of going up the ramp, take a left into the watery area. Go north and you'll see a ledge with a cannon and a pink Bob-Omb, and some coins. Talk to the Bob-Omb to open the cannon. Hop into the cannon, and aim at the platform in the air, just north of the cannon. Aim at the pillar thing, and shoot. If you didn't make it, then try again. When you make it, hop down the pole and grab the Power Star as yours to keep. ======================================== Star #4: Red Coins on the Floating Isle ======================================== I will list where each and every Red Coin is located here, and how to get them. 1) From the start, jump on the small ledge. Instead of going up that ramp, go east of that, and proceed north. Watch out for the moving walls. There is a red coin above one of those moving walls. 2) After #1, proceed north, and be careful not to fall off because of the moving floor tiles. When you are at the next area, you'll see a Thwomp, followed by another Thwomp just up that ramp. When the Thwomp lands, jump on him and wait until he goes back up. The red coin is right there, so jump to get it. 3) From #2, get off the Thwomp, and go northeast. Punch the sleeping Piranha, and the red coin is right behind where the Prianha was. 4) From #3, go north and sidle along the wall instead of taking the grey bridge. The red coin is there. 5) From #4, go north and kill the Piranha. Ride the long little platform thing, and stay on the very edge of it. It will carry you to the red coin. 6) From #5, get the Mario Cap (if you don't already have Mario out). Go to the top of the fortress, and do a wallkick on the plank there. It will knock over. Walk across it, and hop from the platforms until you get this red coin. 7) From #6, hop across the other floating platforms and collect the red coin. 8) For the last one, go around the place where the Switch Star is. The red coin is floating above the bushes. After you've collected all the red coins, a Power Star will appear near the beggining. Collect it and it is yours. ==================================== Star #5: Fall Onto the Caged Island ==================================== To get this one, when you start the level, turn around and jump on the tree. Climb it to the top, and an owl will appear. Jump off, and grab onto him. Make sure you hold the button down, or he will drop you. Now, when he carries you all the way into the air, move around and look for a small platform with a cage over it. Drop onto the platform, walk inside the cage and collect your star. ============================= Star #6: Blast Away the Wall ============================= This one is easy. To do this one, go to the area where the cannon is located. Hop into the cannon, and look towards the northeast. You should see a black colored ramp, with a wall, and two corners. Shoot into the second corner of that wall. If you hit it directly, a star will appear. Go to the top of the fortress (almost), and achieve your prize. ===================================== Star #7: Switch Star of the Fortress ===================================== When you begin the level, go directly north. Either kill or ignore the piranha and proceed to the north. You will come across a platform. Hop onto it, and then follow the left path. Break all the boxes as Mario, and eventually you'll see a switch that is shaped like a star. Step on it, and a star will appear in that sphere. You only have a certain amount of time to get the star before it disappears, so hurry there. Once you get there, jump into the sphere to get the Power Star. =========================== Star #8: Collect 100 Coins =========================== This 100 Coin Star is actually quite easy. Make sure you collect all 8 Red Coins, and make sure you collect the ring of coins around the bushes in the beggining. Also be sure that you destroy all the Piranhas and get the Blue Coins they spit out. Make sure you get all the coins on the floating platforms, and that you get all the coins from the Whomps. On a side note: if you step (NOT stomp) on the Whomps back five times, they will spit out coins. Then finish them off with a Ground Pound and collect the rest of their coins. Also be sure to get every coin from all the Goombas, and make sure you don't miss any. Also make sure you destroy all the red blocks in the area with the Switch Star, and that you get the coins from them. There are also a few coins around the spinning thing, after you cross the grey bridge. Be sure to also get the coins where the star is in "Shoot Into the Wild Blue", but be careful not to grab the star! After you've got all those that I've mentioned, you should very well have all 100 Coins needed for this level. ================ Mushroom Castle ================ By the time you've gotten all the stars that you can at this point, you should have at least 15 Stars. Now it is time to collect some Castle Secret Stars, and to unlock Mario. First, exit the room with Whomp's Fortress. Now, go to the northeast corner, and enter the door with a 1 on it. In here, go directly north and enter the double doors there. In the Rec Room, go in the corner and unlock the door with an "8" on it. In here, you will see a Mario Painting on the wall. Enter it to appear in the Gomboss Battle stage, where we will unlock Mario. ================ Goomboss Battle ================ Take note that there are also 8 Red Coins in this stage. However, you cannot get them until you have unlocked every character in the game, so let's forget about them for right now. When you begin the stage, go down the slide, and jump on the platform there, onto the next ledge. Stomp the Goomba, and when the huge platform begins to rise, jump. Then jump to the next one, then the next one, and then onto the platform. Now, go towards the Piranha Plant, and punch it. Now, jump onto the platform beside you, and climb the pole to the top. Jump onto the ledge there, and walk across the long bridge. Now, hop across each platform until you reach the one with a hole in it. Enter it to engage in combat with Goomboss. When Goomboss is done talking, the battle begins. When the fight starts, he will spawn a lot of Goombas. Begin running around the entire stage, in an attempt to run behind Goomboss. After you do so, eat a Goomba and press R to instantly hatch an egg. Now, run back in front of Goomboss, and throw the egg at his face. He will take a hit, grow in size, and spawn more Goombas. Each time you hit him he gets faster. Repeat the same process two more times to eliminate him, and get the Mario Key. Look at the Castle Secret Stars section to see how to get the eight red coins. There is also a Switch Star in this level. See the Castle Secret Stars section to see how to get this star, also. ================ Mushroom Castle ================ After you defeat Goomboss, save your game and exit this room. Also exit the Rec Room. In here, turn left and examine the door with an "M" on it. Yoshi will place the Mario Key into the door, and the character will change into Mario. Before we go any further, see the Castle Secret Stars section and get some of the Castle Secret Stars. NOTE: After you get 15 Stars, IMMEDIATELY go to the courtyard outside. Get the red coins out of the Boos there. There is a commonly known glitch that if you wait, the red coins will disappear, forcing you to stay at 149 Stars for the whole game. See the Castle Secret Stars section to see how to obtain this star. Once you are done getting some Castle Secret Stars, go to the main castle lobby. Once there, take a right and go up the stairs there. Unlock the door with a three on it. In this room, jump into the painting to enter the third course. =========================== Course #3: Jolly Roger Bay =========================== ==================================== Star #1: Plunder in the Sunken Ship ==================================== For the first star in this level, jump into the water, and begin swimming underwater. If you get really low on health, go to the surface to recover. Go all the way down, and you should see a ship underwater. Swim to it, and you'll see a hole with an eel's head sticking out. Swim towards the Eel, then swim back away from the ship. The eel should come out, and exit the hole. Ignore the eel, and enter the hole. Now you are inside the ship. Inside, you must swim down to a treasure chest. Grab the air bubble, and the water will drain. Now, jump from each ledge, while being careful not to fall, and break the box at the top with the star inside. ======================================= Star #2: Can The Eel Come Out to Play? ======================================= Now the eel serves a purpose. Swim towards where the ship was. Instead of doing that, swim around the entire area until you see a hole with a green thing in it. You will see the eel has his head sticking out. Make him come out the same way you did before. He will begin swimming around the entire area. You will see a star on his tail, so simply touch the star and it will be released. It will be by another hole, so swim to it and grab it. ==================================== Star #3: Treasure in the Ocean Cave ==================================== For this star, go underwater and go directly west of where the eel's hole is. There will be another hole, surrounded by coins. Swim through that hole to enter a certain room. In this room, run by the Goomba's and avoid the falling pillars. You will see a platform with four treasure chests. You have to touch them in a certain order, otherwise you'll get zapped. Touch the one at the very top, then the one left of that one, then to the right of that one, then the one at the very bottom. After you do this, a star will come out of one of the treasure chests. Grab it to complete this one. =================================== Star #4: Blast to the Stone Pillar =================================== I've actually had some troubles with this particular star, but it's actually not that difficult. There are two methods on getting this star. I will tell you the normal method and the (very) easy method. 1) As Mario, swim all the way to the right side. There will be a bridge that floats on the water, and some platforms. On one of those platforms is the pink Bob-Omb. Talk to it and it will prepare the cannon for you (as usual). Now, go back to the start of the level, and swim to the lone platform. Then, hop into the cannon. This is the tricky part. Aim at the pillar nearest to the platform, then aim a little bit above it, and shoot. If you aimed right, you will grab onto the pillar. Now jump onto the platform. 2) With Luigi, go on top of the boat by going to the platform with the pink Bob-Omb. There is a purple switch there. Press it, and several blocks will appear. Walk across the entire walkway and jump aboard the ship. Now, have Luigi have his back turned towards the platform required. Then, perform a backflip and spin to the platform. Regardless of what method you used, break the box and obtain the star. ====================================== Star #5: Red Coins on the Ship Afloat ====================================== As always, I shall list how to get each and every red coin below. 1) From the start, swim directly north towards the platform where the pink Bob-Omb is. Near it you will see a pillar with a red coin above it. Grab onto it and jump to get it. 2) From #1, swim underwater and go just north of that platform. There is a red coin inside the clamshell. 3) From #2, swim south where you will see a clamshell and some pillars. The clamshell holds the red coin. 4) After #3, swim all the way to the very bottom. The clamshell there holds the red coin (again). 5) Swim all the way back to the platforms. There is an area underwater with two clamshells. One of them (as always) has the coin. 6) To get this one (it's not in a clamshell), go to the platform that has the purple switch on it. Press the switch, and make your way onto the boat. The red coin is right there. 7) This one is also on the ship. Jump to the top, where you'll see two red coins. Collect both of them. 8) Same as #7. After you get all the red coins, a star will appear on the boat. Get on the boat (if you aren't already) and get the star. ================================ Star #6: Switch Star of the Bay ================================ You MUST have Luigi unlocked AND the "?" Blocks unlocked before you can attempt this star, as it is impossible to get otherwise. If you have Luigi unlocked, then get him, and enter the level. Begin swimming through the hole that you swam through for Star #3. In here, use the "?" Block to become invisible. Now, quickly run and press the switch, and a star will appear through a cage. Run through the cage and obtain the star. ================================ Star #7: Through the Jet Stream ================================ You MUST have Wario unlocked AND the "?" Blocks unlocked before you can attempt this star, as it is impossible to get otherwise. To do this star, enter the course as Wario. Now, go to the platform where you can access the ship. You should see a Red "?" Block. Use it to become Metal Wario. Now, jump into the water and sink down to the ocean floor. Walk to the middle, where you see a stream with bubbles and a star. Walk into it and grab the star. =========================== Star #8: Collect 100 Coins =========================== This 100 Coin Star shouldn't be very difficult. To start it off, turn around at the start of the level. You'll see a blue switch and a block. Break the block, but DO NOT step on the shell yet. Instead, hit the switch and then step on the shell. Ride along the water, grabbing every blue coin. Then, press R to dismount the shell. Make sure you get all the red coins, and every ring of coins around the hole. Also get all the coins from the Goomba's, and from the sidewalk that you use to get aboard the ship. Also try to find any other coins I may have missed out on mentioning. After you do all of that, you should have 100 Coins by now. ================ Mushroom Castle ================ After you clear Jolly Roger Bay (or most of it), head to the main hallway. In here, you should by now see a glimmering light shining on the sun symbol. Stand in the middle of the light, and press X to enter First-Person View. Now, look directly at the ceiling to enter a secret stage. ================== "?" Switch Palace ================== In here, go ahead and get the 8 Red Coins if you like. Regardless, fly into the middle of the tower, and step on the huge "?" Switch. Doing this will cause every "?" Block in the levels to become solid. Just jump off, or get the red coins. Dosen't matter which one. Now you have the ability to use the Power Flowers, which gives you special powers required to get all 150 Stars! ================ Mushroom Castle ================ When you return here, go near the Bob-Omb Battlefield entrance and enter the Three Star Door. In here, jump into the painting to enter Course 4. =============================== Course #4: Cool, Cool Mountain =============================== =========================== Star #1: Slip Slidin' Away =========================== For the first star of this level, you should see a chimney nearby right when you start the level. Jump into that chimney to enter a secret area. In here, this place dosen't serve much of a purpose yet. Just go down the slide, and be careful not to fall. There is a shortcut in which you can take. When you see a line of coins, follow them straight into a tunnel. You will be spit out to the end of the slide. Exit through the door. Outside, the star will appear, so grab it to complete this mission. =========================== Star #2: Li'l Penguin Lost =========================== To get this star, go to the chimney, but not in it. Instead, jump on the ledge above you. Here, go right and grab the small penguin. Now, drop down to the ledge you start on, and then go down the slide (NOT the one inside the chimney). Be careful not to lose the penguin. After you get down the slide and in the next area, ignore the huge snowman and cross the bridge. When the small snowmen jump, run under them. Be careful, because if you get hit by an enemy, you'll lose the penguin. When you make it across the bridge, jump all the way down. If you are lucky, you'll land in the right spot where you'll see a huge mother penguin. Bring the penguin to the mother to obtain this star. ========================== Star #3: Big Penguin Race ========================== For this star, enter the chimney. You have a visitor: a huge penguin that wants to race you. Talk to her, and she will challenge you to a race. However, you CANNOT use ANY sorts of shortcuts (such as the tunnel shortcut or falling down to skip half the slide) or she will not reward you with a star. You have to get down there fair and square. Once you reach the end of the slide (it may take a few tries), you may or may not get the star. You won't get the star if you didn't beat her down the slide. But if you did, she will reward you with the Power Star, so go ahead and grab it. ====================================== Star #4: Frosty Slide for 8 Red Coins ====================================== Another 8 Red Coin Star. Below is a list of where all the red coins are, and how you are to get them. 1) For this one, you MUST have Yoshi. If you do, jump on the ledge next to the chimney, and go left. You will see some wood that has a fire. Eat the fire, and jump back onto the ledge. Now, with the fire in your mouth, spit it out at the ice block to melt it. 2) After #1, drop directly down. Walk onto the small bridge and you will be warped. This is a (very good) shortcut. Now, walk along the walkway, and collect the second red coin on the way. 3) From #2, go directly north after passing the walkway. Get the Goomba's out of your way, and slowly walk to the edge, where this red coin awaits. 4) After #3, go south of the last red coin, and jump on the tree nearby. There is a red coin floating above the tree, so jump at the top of the tree to get this one. 5) From #4, go towards the mother penguin. Ignore her, and jump on the small brown bridge nearby. Climb it to the top, and destroy the flower if need be. Run up the slide thing until you get to the bridge. Walk across it and avoid the snowmen. In here, go north past the huge snowman. The red coin is sitting by a wall there. 6) After #5, drop directly down to the ledge below. Then, walk across it and look left. You'll see a very small ledge with a wooden platform. This ledge has a red coin sitting on it; grab it. 7) From #6, use the wooden platform to take you down back to the bottom ledge. Now, proceed through the warp on the bridge (on the walkway; the place that you got warped to in the beggining). Back up to the beggining, drop down and you will (hopefully) land in an area with a yellow block, and some ice cubes with a red coin inside. Use Yoshi to eat the nearby fire and melt the ice, and collect the coin. 8) For the last one, go to the area where the mother penguin is. Here, climb back up the small wooden bridge, and run back up the slide. Instead of crossing the bridge with the snowmen, go east of that. There is a red coin on the bridge there. After you get all the red coins, a star will appear on a broken bridge. If the last coin you got was #8 in my guide, then simply either do a helicopter spin as Luigi, or a long jump to the bridge. Grab the star. ================================= Star #5: Snowman's Lost His Head ================================= Some people I have seen post on the message boards saying that they cannot get this star. It is mainly because they aren't doing it right. To do this star, jump onto the ledge next to the chimney. Now, go left and drop down to a place where you'll see a snowball body on a platform. It will talk, saying that it has to find its head. The trick to this is: get in front of it, and slide down the slide to the bottom. Make sure the snowball does not get ahead of you. When you make it down the slide, go north and you'll see the snowman's head. Stand next to it on the right side, and eventually the snowball will roll down. It will attempt to follow you, causing it to connect to the head. Now, speak with the snowman and it will give you a star for your efforts. ================================= Star #6: Mario's Super Wall Kick ================================= It may say "Mario's" Super Wall Kick, but you can also do this with Luigi! In which case I find much easier than the Mario Method. Although, I will list both methods here, and how to do them. But first, I will tell you how to get to this stars location. First of all, go down the slide (not the one in the chimney) to the bottom ledge. Here, go down to the lower ledge, and then drop down to the wooden platform. Ride down the wooden platform, and you'll notice a platform in the air halfway down. Jump there, and speak with the pink Bob-Omb. It will open the cannon for you. Jump down the cliff, and the wind will push you onto the snow, so don't worry about falling off. You should be right next to the cannon, so jump in. Aim a little bit above the tree on the far away platform, and fire. If you aimed correctly, you will grab onto the tree. Slide down, and proceed north. Avoid or punch the flowers, then do a long jump to the next ledge. There are two ways to go from here. 1) The Mario Method. Run along the hill that you see, then do a sharp backflip to the next hill. Run up this one as well, then do a sharp backflip, and do a Wall Jump the second you touch the wall. If you did it right, you will make it to the top. 2) The easiest method. As Luigi, run up the first hill, and either do a sharp backflip or a backwards helicopter spin to reach the next hill. Go up this one and stand at the very edge. Now, have Luigi's face facing the wall. Do a copter spin and you will make it onto the next ledge. Regardless of what method you used, walk across the ice (be careful not to fall off!), and grab your star. ============================================ Star #7: Switch Star of Cool, Cool Mountain ============================================ You MUST have Wario unlocked to get this star. It is impossible to achieve if you do not have him. As Wario, head down the regular slide. At the bottom, drop down the two ledges onto the wooden platform. Ride the wooden platform down, and jump on the ledge in the air halfway down. Ignore the pink Bob-Omb, and step on the switch. This will cause a star to appear under the ice where the mother penguin is. How to get under it, you ask? Well, quickly jump off the right side of the platform, and let the wind blow you down. If you can, land on the tree, then jump into the area. If you get stuck in the snow, there is still time. Quickly run over to the ice, and perform a Ground Pound. This will break the ice, causing you to get the Power Star. =========================== Star #8: Collect 100 Coins =========================== This is a very easy 100 Coin Star to get. You can alternately enter the slide via the chimney, and collect every coin on the way down. Then use the warp to get back to the top, and reenter the chimney. The coins will be refreshed. Rinse and repeat until you get 100 Coins. You can do it the hard way, as well. Make sure you get the Blue Coin Switch, located on a platform halfway down the regular slide. Make sure you get every red coin, and all the coins down the normal slide. Also make sure you punch all those flowers and get the coins from them. There are also some red boxes near the snowman's head on certain stars that have coins. Also kill all the Goomba's. There are also a lot of coins in the area where you complete Star 6. There may also be some other coins that I didn't mention. After all this, you should have 100 Coins, so grab your star and end this level. ================ Mushroom Castle ================ By now you should have well over 15 Stars, so exit this room. Now, enter one of the two brown doors next to the Cool, Cool Mountain and Whomp's Fortress entrance. Here, there is a Boo that you will see on the hallway. Chase him out to the door. Outside here, make sure that you get the red coins from the Boos NOW. You will regret not doing it if you wait. Trust me. Now then, go left and drop out onto the field there. Look for the Boo with a Merry Go Round type thing inside. Punch the Boo, and it will drop it. Walk up to it to enter the next course. Take note that after the first star, you'll want to unlock Luigi, as he is in Big Boo's Haunt, which is the next level. So, scroll down if you would like to get Luigi. ========================== Course #5: Big Boo's Haunt ========================== ============================ Star #1: Go on a Ghost Hunt ============================ There are a bunch of Boos you have to kill in this mission. I'll tell you where every single Boo is. 1) From the start, run behind the mansion. You will see a door and a platform. Jump on the ledge and enter the door. The Boo is in here. 2) In the same room as #1. 3) After #1 and #2, go inside the mansion. In the main room, go inside the first door to the north. Inside is the Boo. 4) Exit the room from #3. Back here, enter the next door to the right. In here, go across the breakable walkway by running. Kill the Boo. 5) Right after #4, enter the next room and kill the Boo in there. After you've killed all five, there will be a huge Boo in the mansion main room. Go back to the main room, and punch the Boo three times to get the star. The stairs will raise up from the floor, giving you access to the star. Jump up the stairs to get it. ======================================= Star #2: Ride Big Boo's Merry-Go-Round ======================================= First, enter the mansion main room. Now, go to the room with the breakable walkway. Here, stand on the walkway and let yourself fall. You will end up in a room with water and some doors. Jump out of the water, and enter a door. In this room, jump on the spinning thing. There are pictures of Boos that spit out fire in this room. Eventually, a Boo will come out of one of the pictures. Kill the Boo, and another one will appear. Repeat the same process until thee big Boo appears. Hit it three times to kill it, and the star will appear at the entrance of the room. Grab it as yours. ===================================== Star #3: Secret of the Haunted Books ===================================== Head into the mansion. This time, you have access to the whole level. Now, jump up stairs. Here, enter the first door to the left. In this room, run down the hallway, avoiding the haunted books that attempt to attack you. You will reach a dead end. You'll notice three books are popped out of place. You must hit them in a certain order. The order is: hit the top one first, then the one on the right, then the one on the left. Doing this will cause the bookcase to move, giving you access to a door. Enter the door, and grab the star. ============================== Star #4: Seek the 8 Red Coins ============================== There are also 8 Red Coins in this level. As always, I shall tell you how to get each one of them below. 1) Enter the mansion, and enter the first door to your left. In this room, you will see a piano. Behind it is a red coin. Be wary that the piano is alive, and it will attack you if you approach it. 2) After #1, proceed through the next door. In this room, there is a red coin on top of the bookshelf. 3) Same as #2, but on the second bookshelf. 4) Go upstairs, and enter the first door that you see. Up here is a red coin. 5) For this one, go upstairs and enter the first door to the right. In this room, there are six coffins. They raise up. The first one to the right has the coin. 6) On the top floor, enter the last door on the right. In here, go around the other side of the room. The red coin sits there by the trapfloor. 7) After #6, enter through the door you see. Out here, use Mario and break the "?" Block. Then, float near the top floor and grab this red coin in mid air. 8) Go to the room where there is a breakable walkway. Run across the walkway and enter the next room. In this room, the red coin is sitting by a wall, so grab it. Once all red coins are collected, a star will appear on the top floor. Grab the star to end this mission. =========================== Star #5: Big Boo's Balcony =========================== As always, head into the mansion as Mario. Now, head to the top floor, and enter the last door on the right. In here, jump on the nearby ledge and use the Red "?" Block to become Balloon Mario. Float up to the balcony above you and press R to deflate. Enter the door. In this room, go right and enter through the double doors there. Out here on the balcony, you'll meet the big Boo (once again). Do the same thing you always do: hit him three times to make him drop his star. Be careful not to fall off, though. After you defeat him, the star will appear on the roof. Use the nearby "?" Block to float up to it, and grab it. ======================================= Star #6: Eye to Eye in the Secret Room ======================================= You must be Luigi to get this star. It is impossible to get otherwise. As Luigi, head to the top of the mansion. Enter the last door to the right. In here, jump on the nearby ledge and use the Red "?" Block to become invisible. Now, do a helicopter spin onto the platform behind you. Enter the door. In this room, quickly run to the southwest corner, and enter the Boo Painting. In here, you will see a huge eye and a few Boo's. Make the eyeballs eye face you, then run around it. You will make it dizzy, causing it to dissipate and die. A star will appear, so grab it. ===================================== Star #7: Switch Star in the Basement ===================================== You MUST have Wario unlocked AND the Red "?" Blocks unlocked before attempting this star. It is impossible to get otherwise. As Wario, enter through the building behind where you start. In here, go down the elevator. When you are down, enter through the next door you see. In this hallway, there is yet another door. Enter it. In this place, go in the corner to the west. You'll see a black block that only Wario can break. Punch it as Wario to break it, revealing a switch. Don't step on the switch yet. Instead, grab the nearby Mario Cap, then step on the switch. Now, quickly jump out of the water, and run to the northeastern corner. Break the glass open to get the Power Star. =========================== Star #8: Collect 100 Coins =========================== This is an easy 100 Coin Star, yet again. Be sure to kill all the Boos and get the Blue Coins from them. Also get all 8 Red Coins, and be sure to kill all of the Mr. I's to get the blue coins from them. There is also a Blue Coin Switch in which you can pound to get a few Blue Coins to appear. Don't forget EVERY Boo, even the ones in the secret room near outside on the balcony. There is also a few enemies outside containing coins. There is also a bouncing box that holds a few coins, followed by a few black blocks that Wario can break and obtain coins from. I really can't think where to get anymore coins in a small level like this. After you've gotten all the coins I've mentioned, and possibly some more, you should have 100 Coins. Grab the star. ================ Mushroom Castle ================ After you finish with the last course, head back in there and select the second star. Time to get Luigi. Refer to Star #5 of the last level to see how to get in the room where his painting is. Instead of going out on the balcony, enter the Luigi Painting. =============== Big Boo Battle =============== In this stage, there are 8 Red Coins, but see the Castle Secret Stars section for that. There is also a hidden star in here. You must take a certain path, otherwise you will be warped back to the start. The correct path is: right, up, right, up. In those rooms you will find Boos, breakable walkways, and even platforms that act as elevators, and take you to the other platform. When you reach the final room, run down the very long breakable walkway, and then jump on the first elevator platform. Wait, and it'll carry you up to the other one. Do the same with the next one, and repeat. Once you reach the top, jump into the hole to enter the area where you fight Big Boo. To make him appear, approach the mirror, then run back and approach the mirror again. Then, Mario's reflection will turn into Luigi, and Big Boo will appear. To defeat him, run behind him and punch him. He will appear on the other side; on the reflection of the mirror. You must do the same thing, but you have to look on the other side of the mirror instead of in front of you. Each time you hit him, he will reappear on the different sides. Hit him three times to get the Luigi Key. ================ Mushroom Castle ================ Back here, exit the courtyard and head to the character selection room. In here, walk up to the door with an "L" above it. Your character will stick the key into the slot, and Luigi will now be the current character. Now we must go to the first Bowser stage. If you do not, it is impossible to go any further to any other levels. Now, exit this room, and go left and open the big star door. It only requires 12 Stars. Enter the room as either Mario or Luigi. Go north and you'll fall down a trapdoor, entering the first Bowser stage. ========================= Bowser in the Dark World ========================= There are 8 Red Coins in this stage, but refer to section VIII to see how to get them. When you start, Bowser will laugh and then have a speech. After he stops talking, keep going right, and cross the small little bridge. Be sure not to get burnt by the flamethrower there. Here, you'll see two platforms in which move around, elevating around each other. Run on one when you can, then run to the other side when it allows you to do so. Here, you can either crawl up the blue hill, or go around the right side and run your way up. The second way is MUCH easier and less annoying, so just go with that. Now, jump on one of the platforms. When it carries you to the other side, jump. Now, cross the brown bridge, and you'll appear in a crystal area. There are a bunch of zappers around this area, too. Run across the area and you'll see a yellow bridge that moves. When it moves all the way towards you, jump on it and to the next ledge. Do the same with the next moving bridge. Jump on the ledge after that one, as well. Now, get on the moving platforms. They will carry you to yet another set of moving platforms, so go on those. The last set of moving platforms will take you to the next ledge, so jump there. Here, go north and jump on the two ledges onto a ledge with a purple switch. Press the purple switch, and a set of stairs will appear. Jump up the set of stairs, and enter the pipe. You will be in an arena in which you will fight Bowser. To beat him (he basically already tells you how O_o), run behind him just as you did King Bob-Omb, and grab his tail instead of his back. Now, spin him around either with the D-Pad or the Touch Screen. Look on the Touch Screen as you are spinning him, and when the arrow is pointing to one of the bombs around the arena, throw him. Bye bye, as Mario says. :P When he gets hit by a bomb, run up to him. He will start talking, then explode and drop a key. If you miss the bomb, he will fall off the stage, but jump back up. Whenever you do beat him, grab the key and you will exit the stage. ================ Mushroom Castle ================ Now that you have your first key, it's time to gain access to more levels. If you followed my guide thoroughly, you will probably not be able to access any other Castle Secret Stars until you unlock the basement, which is about to happen in a minute. Now, exit this room, and enter one of the brown doors that led outside going to Big Boo's Haunt. Instead of following the Boo, go south of him. You will unlock the door to the basement, and enter it. In the basement, go down the steps, and head east down the hallway and enter the door. In here, go to the northeastern corner, and enter the door there. Jump into the metallic pool to enter the next stage. ========================== Course #6: Hazy Mazy Cave ========================== ====================================== Star #1: Swimming Beast in the Cavern ====================================== This star is where you will get your first Wario Cap. To start, take the left path and do a long jump to get across the ledge. Enter the door there. In here, go around the right path, while being careful not to fall off and avoiding the enemies. Now you will see tons of boulders fall. Proceed to the northeast while avoiding those boulders. Then, enter the door. In here, step on the elevator in the middle of the room. When it takes you down, run down the hill. You will see a seal. Jump on the seel, then stomp its back to make it lower its head. Grab the Wario Cap from its head, then you will become Wario. Now, go on the platform in the middle, and punch tbe boulder. The star will appear, so get it to claim it yours. ================================= Star #2: Elevate for 8 Red Coins ================================= To get to the room with the red coins, take the right path. Jump over the ledge without getting burnt by the flames, and enter the door. In this room, jump on the pole, and then slide all the way down. Now, go north and jump up the set of stairs, onto the next platform. You will see an elevator, so jump on it. Press the button of the direction you'd like to move in. 1) This red coin is in the air. To get it, you must be aboard the elevator. It is in a red box. Punch it when you get to it. 2) Same as #1. 3) Same as #2. 4) This one is in the topright corner. Use the elevator to get to it. 5) Go onto the platform with the sphere ball, and jump onto the purple pole. Climb it up, and ride the nearby elevator. The red coin is in the red box. 6) From #5, continue riding the elevator. This red coin is floating in mid-air. 7) After #6, continue the ride. It will carry you to a platform with two red coins on it. 8) Same as #7. After you collect all 8 Red Coins, the star will appear in the middle of the room, so jump down and collect it. =================================== Star #3: Metal Head Wario Can Move =================================== You MUST have Wario unlocked AND the Red "?" Blocks unlocked before you can attempt this star. It is impossible to get otherwise. As Wario, take the left path. Go to the area where you find the seel. In here, use the Red "?" Block at the beggining of the room to become Metal Wario. Now, ignore the Goombas and perform a long jump quickly, to get to the water faster. Once you get inside the water, run to the left and step on the purple switch. Doing this will cause the red gate in front of you to open, revealing a door. Enter the door. In here, jump to the next ledge, then do a long jump to the next ledge. The star is on this said ledge, so grab it. =================================== Star #4: Navigating the Toxic Maze =================================== To get this star, head to the room where the red coins are. There, enter the left area. In here, grab the line of coins if you wish. Regardless, drop down into the hole, leading to the Toxic Maze. In here, you get gradually hurt by the toxic poison, so you'll need to get on land to stop getting hurt. Now, you can use the red block to become Metal Wario and not get hurt by the poison, or you can use Mario's Balloon Float ability to float across the poison. Look on the Touch Screen, and follow the path of the glowing star. If you keep going through the maze, you'll see a high ledge by a hole. To get on there, perform a Triple Jump. Then, enter the door. In here, go down the hallway and ride the elevator to the top. Grab your Power Star. ALTERNATE STRATEGY: For the quickest way to get this star, you MUST have Luigi AND the Red ? Blocks unlocked. As Luigi, follow the walkthrough for Star #1 until you get to the area with the seel. Instead of going down the hill, look near the elevator for a Red ? Block. Hit it and collect the Power Flower. As soon as you become invisible, get on the elevator. Although it seems like it takes a while, your Power Flower abilities shouldn't wear out if you get on the elevator quickly. As soon as you get to the top(and you SHOULD still be invisible), walk through the wire mesh wall and collect the Power Star on the other side. Alternate Strategy By: HardcoreCanada3 =================================== Star #5: A-Maze-Ing Emergency Exit =================================== This is the same as #4, only you must take a different path while in the maze. Around the maze, you'll see yet another door on a platform. Get to that one, and then enter the door. In here, go down the hallway and ride the elevator to the top. In here, enter the nearby door. Outside, jump on the cage above you, and hold on to it. Follow it to the ledge with the star, then when you are below it, let go of the cage and grab your star. ================================= Star #6: Watch for Rolling Rocks ================================= You MUST have Wario unlocked before you can attempt this star. It is impossible to get otherwise. As Wario, take the left path. Perform a long jump to the ledge, and enter the door. Now, go to all the rolling rocks. Stand next to where they fall, and keep punching them. Eventually, after a few rocks are broken, a star will come out of one. Grab it to complete this mission. ALTERNATE STRATEGY: Another, and perhaps easier way to get this star is to go to the area with the rolling rocks as Wario, as indicated before. However, instead of waiting for the rocks, wait for an opening and run to the other side. Cross the wire mesh bridge to get to a black brick block. Break it open to reveal a Mushroom. Use it to become Giant Wario. From here, all you need to do is walk into 2 or 3 boulders for the star to appear. Alternate Strategy By: HardcoreCanada3 ================================= Star #7: Underground Switch Star ================================= You MUST have Wario unlocked before you can attempt this star. It is impossible to get otherwise. As Wario, head through the right path. In the room with all the red coins, drop down the pole. Here, go to the topright corner of the room. You will see a black box. Break it, and a switch will be revealed. Grab a Mario or Luigi cap, since they are much faster than Wario. Now, press the switch. Jump on the ledge with the elevator, and ride the elevator towards the platform with the sphere. Break it to obtain this star, and end the mission. =========================== Star #8: Collect 100 Coins =========================== This is a bit of a difficult 100 Coin Star to obtain, but I will tell you where all the coins are. There are coins in the first room inside the enemies that come out of the holes. There are also some coins in the left path, by the yellow block. There are coins also in the room with the seel. Be sure to also collect all the 8 Red Coins. There is also a line of coins in the room with the falling rocks. There is also a Blue Coin Switch along with some enemies in the Toxic Maze, but be sure NOT to go in there until you are 100% sure you've gotten all the coins in the main area. There may be also some other coins that I forgot to mention. After you've gotten all the mentioned coins, you may or may not have all 100 Coins. If you do not, search very good for some more, and when you are done, collect the star. ================ Mushroom Castle ================ After you're through with Hazy Maze Cave, talk to the Toad in the corner beside the metallic liquid pool. He will give you a Power Star. Now, exit this room. Back in the basement, head directly left and jump into the firey painting to enter the next stage. ============================ Course #7: Lethal Lava Land ============================ ============================ Star #1: Boil the Big Bully ============================ For the first star, go east and cross the nearby bridge. Be careful not to fall into the fire. Then, go left and avoid the eye. Now, when the platform goes up to the surface, get on it and jump on the Bowser puzzle. Go north and onto the platform. Continue going north until you come across two spinning flames. Then, go east and jump onto the next platform. Keep going east until you come to a ledge with a huge Bully. Punch him or kick him into the fire. Beware, though, for he can bump into you. Keep doing it until he is knocked into the fire. The star will appear on a ledge that you cannot reach, but stairs appear, allowing you to gain access to the star. Jump up the breakable stairs and get your star. =========================== Star #2: Bully the Bullies =========================== Go to the same place as you did for Star #1. Knock the big Bully into the fire so he can get out of your way, but don't get the star. Instead, go to the east side of the platform. Wait until you see an elevator platform that will come to you, then jump on it. It will carry you to the right side, so when it does, you must jump onto the platform. There are three small Bullies on this platform, along with a ring of coins. Save the coins incase you fall in the fire and need to recover your health. Now then, you have to knock all three bullies into the lava. Once they are all dead, the big Bully comes out. Knock him into the fire, and the star will appear. It is yours, so grab it. ====================================== Star #3: 8-Coin Puzzle with 15 Pieces ====================================== The star name says it all: this is another (but VERY easy) 8 Red Coin Star. They are all found on a Bowser Puzzle, but I'll tell you how to get them anyway. First, though, get to the Bowser Puzzle. Once there, this is how to get all 8 Red Coins. 1) On the Bowser Puzzle. 2) Same as #1. 3) Same as #2. 4) Same as #3. 5) Same as #4. 6) Same as #5. 7) Same as #6. 8) Same as #7. Once you get all the 8 Red Coins aboard the puzzle, the star will appear right next to it, on a nearby ledge. Run over there and grab it. ============================= Star #4: Red-Hot Rolling Log ============================= To get this star, proceed to the area with the three bullies. On this platform, there will be a grating platform that will come to you. Jump on it, and it will carry you to the other side. Avoid the flames that spit upward from the fire. When it carries you to the next platform, jump. You could use Luigi's backflip to get over to the ledge with the star. Or you could run across the log and do it the real way. Regardless, do whatever method you feel most comfortable with, and grab your star. ====================================== Star #5: Hot-Foot It into the Volcano ====================================== For this star, go across the wooden bridge at the start of the level, then you will see a nearby circle-like ledge with a volcano in the middle. Make your way to that ledge. Once you are on it, jump in the hole in the volcano. You will be inside it in a secret area. In the volcano, jump from ledge to ledge, until you make it to the next platform. Keep going north until you come across a huge blue smasher. Jump onto the next platform while avoiding that smasher. Then, from here on, I say just keep making your way up to the volcano until you come to a few poles. Then, jump to the closest one, then make your back face the next one, then jump to that one. Repeat until you reach the top. The star is up there, so grab it. ============================ Star #6: Inside the Volcano ============================ Go into the volcano again for this one. Then, instead of going north, turn around. You will see lots of other platforms. Jump from each one of them, and you'll come across an elevator platform. Get on it. It will ride you to another elevator. Get on it, as well. This one will ride you further at the top, where you'll see a pole. Jump on it, and climb up. Have your back facing the next ledge, then jump. Get on this pole, and climb it to the top. Then, jump onto the small ledge, then to the next ledge. The next ledge has the star, so grab it as yours. ============================== Star #7: Flaming Silver Stars ============================== Another Silver Star mission. They are spreaded across the level, but none are inside the volcano. Here is where each one of them are, and how to get them. 1) From the start, turn around. Do a long jump to the nearby platform. To the right you'll see a moon-shaped platform. Long jump to that one and get the silver star. 2) After #1, jump on the sinking platform, then on the Bowser Puzzle. Go on the platform after that one, and you'll see a moon-shaped platform to the right. Long jump to that one and grab the silver star. 3) At the start of the level, use the yellow block to get a koopa shell. Get on it and ride it to the northwestern corner of the level. The silver star is near the three bullies, on a brown ramp. 4) This one is just south of where #3 was; on a platform with a Mr. I enemy. 5) For the last one, go back to where you got #2, but don't go on that moon shaped platform. Instead, go north to where the two spinning flames are, and perform a long jump to the moon-shaped platform. Grab the silver star. After you get all five Silver Stars, the star will appear on the platform behind the start. Go there and grab the star out of the glass ball. It is also much easier to collect the silver stars with the Koopa Shell, found in a yellow block at the beggining of the level. =========================== Star #8: Collect 100 Coins =========================== This can be an irritating 100 Coin Star to obtain. There are some coins in the beggining, on the wooden bridge. There are also some bullies you can knock into the fire that spit out one coin each. Also make sure to get the ring of coins around the arena with the three bullies. Get all the 8 Red Coins, and the coins around the platform with the volcano. There is also a bouncing box on the zig zag platform near the rolling log, but it is too risky to get the coins out of it, and I don't recommend it. There is also a coin in the middle of four sinking platforms right next to the bouncing box. There are also coins on all the moon-shaped platforms, and on the brown ramps. After you think you've got all the coins on the surface, go to the volcano. The rest of your coins should be there. After all this, you probably have 100 Coins, so get your star. ================ Mushroom Castle ================ After you are done with Lethal Lava Land, head to the northwest corner. You will come to a dead end. Jump into the wall there to enter Shifting Sand Land. ============================== Course #8: Shifting Sand Land ============================== ======================================= Star #1: In the Talons of the Big Bird ======================================= This star is easy to get. Go to the north, and go across the grey walkway. There are a bunch of Tox Boxes in this maze. However, one can land on you without hurting you. I'm sure you can figure out how. Anyway, proceed to the left, while navigating through the Tox Box-filled maze. When you make your way over to an area with two brown pillars, then run up one of those brown pillars. You should see a bird with a star. The bird is named Klepto. When Klepto flies under your head, jump. You will knock the star out from his grasp. He will drop it in the middle of the two pillars, so jump down and grab it. ================================== Star #2: Shining Atop the Pyramid ================================== For this star, go to the area where you got Star #1. Nearby is a ramp that leads to a ledge with a "?" Block and a Goomba. As Mario, use the "?" Block to get wings. Now, fly directly above you. You will see a star in a small alcove. Fly into that alcove and get the star. =================================== Star #3: Inside the Acient Pyramid =================================== To get this star, go to where you got Star #1. Instead of doing anything with Klepto or the pillars, look around for a ramp that leads to a pyramid. It has a Goomba and a "?" Block on there. Get on there, and go down the hole leading inside the pyramid. It is too difficult for me to give a thorough explanation as to where everything is in this pyramid, so just try and make your way up to the top. On the way there, avoid the enemies like the Thwomp type things that slam the ground, along with the Goombas, Buzzers, and a rolling log-type thing. Hint: on the platform with the log thing, there is a small alcove that you can go inside to avoid getting smushed. When you reach the top, jump on the inside of the cage containing the star. ======================================== Star #4: Stand Tall on the Four Pillars ======================================== You must have Mario out for this mission. Now, from the start, head north. You will see a grey thing that Goombas and some boxes are in. Well, do a triple jump on top of that thing. There will be a yellow block and a "?" Block on it. Break the block to get a Wingcap. Now, begin flying, and fly on the top of all four pillars around the area. Be careful, though, for some of them could cause you to accidentally fall in the quicksand if you are not careful. After you stand on all four pillars, the top of the pyramid will break off, revealing a hole. Fly into that hole. When you do, you will enter the pyramid from the top. You will be in an elevator that will take you down, so let it do so. It will carry you down to a little hole that is plugged by a red box. Punch the box, and walk inside the area. You will see a coffin type thing. Approach it to enter combat against two hands. The bosses name is Eyerok. To defeat Eyerok, wait until one of his hands open up. Then, quickly punch the eye on his hand. Do the same for the second hand. After you hit each hand a few times, he will give up, and give you the star. ============================= Star #5: Tox Box Switch Star ============================= You MUST have Wario unlocked before you can attempt this star. It is impossible to get otherwise. As Wario, go to the Tox Box Maze. Now, go to the northeastern corner of it. You will see a black box nearby. Break it to reveal a switch. Press the switch, and the star will appear in the oasis. Stand on the tile near the red box, and you will warp to the star, so grab it. Alternately, you could just keep doing long jumps over to the oasis, where the star is. ======================== Star #6: Pyramid Puzzle ======================== I recommend using Luigi for this star. It makes things MUCH easier with him. Now then, enter the pyramid. Inside, there are five silver stars. Here is how to get each one of them. 1) At the very top of the pyramid, this one is on a small ledge below a little waterfall of sand. 2) This one is just below #1. 3) This one is also on a small ledge below #2. 4) This silver star is on a platform that has sand running through it, from the sand waterfall at the top. 5) Same as #4. Once you collect all 5 Silver Stars, the star will appear at the very edge of the moving sandy platform, where you got the last two silver stars. So get over there and grab the star. ===================================== Star #7: Free Flying for 8 Red Coins ===================================== You must be Mario to complete this star. I will tell you how to get each red coin, and their locations. 1) From the start, turn around. The red coin is at the very edge of the sand. Be very, very careful not to fall into the quicksand. Walk, don't run. 2) Go to the grey thing just directly north of your starting position. Inside the grey building is two blocks and some Goombas. One block has the coin. 3) Go into the Tox Box Maze. Inside the maze is a red coin sitting on a lone platform. 4) This coin is inside the water at the oasis, where Klepto is located. 5) Get the "?" Block as Mario to grow wings. Now, fly up in the air. This red coin is located somewhere inside the air, around the pyramid. 6) Same as #5. 7) Same as #6. 8) Same as #7. After you collect all 8 Red Coins, the star will appear on top of the grey-like building. Use the Wingcap or a triple jump to get up there, then grab the star. =========================== Star #8: Collect 100 Coins =========================== This 100 Coin Star can be quite difficult if you are not careful. To get it, first be noted NOT to enter the pyramid until you are POSITIVE that you have gotten EVERY coin outside. With that said, make sure you break all red boxes, get every red coin, kill every Goomba and Pokey. To kill the Pokies, stand in front of them and punch them down. Punch their head to kill them. Each Pokey gives you a Blue Coin. There are also some coins on the side of the pyramid, along with some other enemies you can get coins from. There is also some coins in the middle of the two pillars near the oasis. Once you have all the coins from the outside, enter the pyramid. Inside the pyramid has quite a few Goombas along with a Blue Coin Switch at the entrance. There are coins spreaded all over the pyramid. After you get all the coins outside, you will only need to go halfway through the pyramid to get the rest. Grab the Power Star and exit. ================ Mushroom Castle ================ Once you are through with Shifting Sand Land, go to the entrance of Hazy Maze Cave, but don't go in there. Instead, head a little more south. You should see a door. Enter it, and swim down the water in this area. Once you are over to the other side, pound the two pillars. This will drain the moat, which is required to get two Castle Secret Stars. The door in front of you leads outside the castle, so just ignore it. Instead, exit the basement back to the first room. Instead of completely exiting the basement, you should see a star door nearby (the door that was on the first floor that led to Bowser). It only needs 30 Stars to open, so go over and open it. If you need more stars, go to a stage and get some more. Anyway, when you are inside, go directly north and jump into the wall of water. This is the next course. ============================ Course #9: Dire, Dire Docks ============================ ============================ Star #1: Board Bowser's Sub ============================ This entire level is easy, but this is the easiest star to obtain in this level. Anyways, from the start, swim down. Now, swim through the hole, but be careful not to be sucked in by the little whirlpool thing. Once you swim all the way through the hole, go to the surface of the water to regain some health. You are now in the main room of this level (it only has two rooms). Now, at the surface, you will see a submarine with Bowser's face on it. Now, swim to the platform that surrounds the submarine. Around the platform is a purple switch, so press it. Doing this will cause red blocks to appear, forming stairs. Jump up the set of red block stairs, and onto the submarine. Grab the star as yours. =============================== Star #2: Chests in the Current =============================== From the start, swim underwater, but don't go into the area with the sub. Instead, look around. There are three treasure chests under here. There is a certain order you must open them in. To open them, swim into them. Here is the order: the first one is by the clamshell. The second one is by the patch of seaweed grass. The last one is by the whirlpool thing that sucks you up, so be extra careful. After you've collected them all, grab the star. ====================================== Star #3: Pole-Jumping for 8 Red Coins ====================================== You MUST have Bowser in the Fire Sea completed before you can attempt this star. It is impossible to get otherwise. Swim to the main area where you found Bowser's Submarine. Press the purple switch again, and take the second set of stairs and jump onto the next ledge. There are several poles that come towards you that lead to different platforms and red coins. Here is how to get all red coins. 1) From the small platform in the air, use the pole to the left when it comes to you. Let it carry you over to the next platform, then slide down and get this red coin. 2) From #1, use the next pole that comes to you. Grab the three red coins it leads you to. 3) Same as #2. 4) Same as #3. 5) Same as #4. 6) Go back onto the first platform in the air. This time, take the right pole. This pole will take you to another pole. Jump on that one, then land on the platform. Take the pole to the right that will take you to another red coin. 7) For this one, do the same as #6, but take the left pole instead. 8) For the last one, go back to the first floating platform. This time, take the pole to the north. This will take you to another platform. Take the pole that comes by to you, then jump on the small ledge with the last red coin. After you obtain the 8 Red Coins, the star will appear on the first floating platform, so get up there and grab it. ================================ Star #4: Through the Jet Stream ================================ You MUST have Wario unlocked AND the "?" Blocks unlocked before attempting this star. It is impossible to get otherwise. As Wario, head into the submarine area. Now, swim down to the middle, where you will see water rings coming up from the jet stream. Swim directly into five of those rings. This will cause a star to appear in the middle of the stream. Now, go to where the purple switch is. From there, go left. Eventually, you'll reach a dead end with three red gates. Behind the last gate holds a Red "?" Block. Use it to become Metal Wario. Jump in the water, and sink to the bottom. Now, grab the star in the middle of the stream to complete this mission. =================================== Star #5: Koopa Surfin' Switch Star =================================== You MUST have Wario unlocked before attempting this star. It is impossible to get otherwise. As Wario, swim directly north from the start. You'll see three black blocks, along with a yellow block. Break the yellow block, but DO NOT use the shell yet. Instead, break all three black boxes to get them out of your way. One will reveal a switch. Now, get on the shell and run over the switch. The star will appear directly north of you, but it is not as easy as it looks. Quickly ride the shell over to the north, as this star disappears VERY quickly. If you don't get the star, then be careful not to lose the shell and try again. If you lose the shell, restart the level and try again. Break the glass ball to get this star. ========================= Star #6: Inside the Cage ========================= You MUST have Luigi unlocked AND the "?" Blocks unlocked before attempting this star. It is impossible to get otherwise. As Luigi, swim through the hole into the main area. In here, go to the end of the brown platform and break the Red "?" Block. Use the Power Flower to become invisible. Now, swim down towards the stream, but just north of that is a cage. The star is inside the cage, so swim inside it while invisible and grab it. ================================ Star #7: The Manta Ray's Reward ================================ This is a very easy star to get. From the start, swim underwater. Search around and you will see a manta ray swimming, along with some water rings going from his tail. The trick is to keep swimming through those rings, without touching the manta. After you swim through five rings without missing one, the star will appear, so swim and grab it. =========================== Star #8: Collect 100 Coins =========================== This is a very easy 100 Coin Star to get, but due to the slow swimming in this level it can be a pain. First of all, make sure you get all the coins from the water spiders at the start. They are sitting on the surface. Make sure you also break the black boxes and get the coins from them. There are also many coins underwater, in the main area and in the first room. Get all the 8 Red Coins, as well. There is also a Blue Coin Switch on one of the floating platforms in the air. Use the poles to get to it. Before you know it, you will have easily obtained this easy to get 100 Coin Star, so get the star and exit this level. ================ Mushroom Castle ================ After you complete at least the first star in the last course, the water wall will move back, gaining you access to a hole leading to the next Bowser stage. Jump into the hole to enter Bowser in the Fire Sea. ======================= Bowser in the Fire Sea ======================= There are 8 Red Coins plus a Switch Star in this level, but refer to the Castle Secret Stars section to see how to get those. Anyway, once you start the level, make sure you are Mario or Luigi. Go east and get on the elevator platform. It goes by a blue line. That blue line is sunk under the fire. You will be able to notice it, so when the platform gets to that point, jump on the nearby white ledge. When the elevator rises back up, jump on it. It is about to go back into the lava, so quickly jump on the platforms to the north. Jump from platform to platform until the elevator rises back up, then jump on it again. Now, when it takes you to the next platform, jump on it. Go east and jump on the blue sinking platforms onto the next ledge. Now, go east and ignore the Goombas, and you'll see an elevator with a pole sticking out of it. You can also run through the spinning heart to regain any lost health. Now, when the elevator rises, use the pole to jump to the platform behind you. Though, be careful of the zapper that may zap you while getting on the pole. When you reach the next platform, be careful, as this platform tilts. Now, go north and climb the pole to the top. Here, go left and ride this elevator to the top. Now, go north and you'll see a flamethrower, along with a platform that moves back and forth. Either long jump across the ledge to the next one, or use the platform to do so. Regardless, once you are on the next ledge, run up the steepy hill, and then jump on the gate. Use the two grey moving platforms to get over to the next ledge. Here, ignore the Bullies and go north up the yellow ramp. Go up the next yellow ramp, and repeat until you reach the top. Wait until the thing you are on moves up (if it's not already). You will see a grey platform, so jump to it. Now, go up the long platform until you reach a Bob-Omb, a yellow block, and a glass ball. You will also see some sinking platforms you must jump on when they rise to the surface. Avoid the flamethrowers and the zappers, and be careful NOT to fall into the lava. When you make it across, use the heart if need be. Now, use the pole to jump to the ledge above you, then use the next pole to jump to the ledge below you. Do the same for the last pole; use it to jump to the higher ledge. When you make it, run across the yellow breakable walkway, and jump into the weird looking thing to enter combat against Bowser once more. There is no difference in the way you defeat Bowser this time. He fights almost the same way as he did before, execpt this time he will teleport around the area, and this can get VERY annoying. Also, if you accidentally throw him off the cliff instead of at the bomb, he will tilt the arena around when he lands on the platform. If he does this, run up. You will be safe. Once you defeaat Bowser once again, walk up to him and he will drop the key after his speech. Grab the key to end this level. ================ Mushroom Castle ================ When you defeat Bowser, you will be able to get more stars in Dire, Dire Docks. Whenever you're ready, head out of the basement and back to the main castle lobby. Here, go to the character switching room. Get Luigi out if you don't already. If you haven't gotten Luigi, refer to after Course #5 to see how to get him. Anyways, whenever you're ready, go to the main castle lobby. Now, go to the only door in the lobby you haven't yet been to: the key door. You will see it. Once you unlock the door, go up the long stair hallway and enter the door. Time to get Wario before we go to the next course. Look on the map, and go to the door that has a star on it with no number, and that is surrounded by a carpet. You will be in a room with a mirror. Grab one of the Power Flowers on the pillars (they only appear as Luigi) and go through the mirror. Surprise! Towards the right is the Wario Painting, so jump in to enter the secret stage where you unlock Wario. ======================= Chief Chilly Challenge ======================= When you start the level, go down the slide. The wind will push you onto the next ledge. Be careful, for the floor is slippery in this stage. Go north and jump across each platform onto the next ledge. Here, ride the platform to the east onto the next platform. Here, go right and off the cliff. The wind will push you into a pool of cold ice water. Jump out of the water, then jump across the fence. This area has a lot of Bullies, so ignore them and jump across the next fence to the north. Here, jump from each moving ice platform until you reach the next platform. Now, jump on top of the moving ice platform, then turn left and jump from each platform until you make it to the top. Jump into the hole there to enter combat against Chief Chilly. To defeat him, either punch him or kick him. Kicking I recommend over punching, because it knocks him over further. Hit him into the ice around the arena. Be careful, though, as this can be a bit tough. Once you knock him into the ice, he will bounce around the arena, crushing one circle of the arena. Do this again, and he will crush yet MORE of the arena. If you fall into the ice, it isn't an instant death. It will be like lava; just hurt you a bit. Once you defeat him, grab the Wario Key he will give you. There is also a red coin star plus a Castle Secret Star in this stage, but refer to the Castle Secret Stars section to see how to get them. ================ Mushroom Castle ================ After you get the Wario Key, go to the character changing room and unlock Wario. However, he really sucks and is not needed expect for quite a few stars in some levels, along with some Castle Secret Stars. Anyways, when you unlock him, go back to the room with a Wario Painting. Instead of going inside the mirror, jump into the wall that looks fake to the left. This wall is the next level. =========================== Course #10: Snowman's Land =========================== ============================ Star #1: Snowman's Big Head ============================ For this star, I strongly suggest being Luigi. It is much harder to get with Mario or someone else. As Luigi, go directly north and jump onto the ice. Now, continue north and jump over the icy water onto the next platform. Go left, and avoid the ice slopes that come after you. Jump over them, then perform a triple jump onto the next ledge. Here, go up the small wooden bridge, then turn around and you will see another bridge. Go across that bridge and you will see a mother penguin, along with a big snowman head. That head will blow wind at you, if you go in front of it. If you do walk into the wind, you'll get blown back near the start and your cap will go flying. Pick up your cap and get back there if this happens. Anyways, normally we'd have to go in front of the penguin when she comes towards you, and by luck we would make it across to the other side. However, there is a MUCH, MUCH easier way to do this. Simply perform a backflip as Luigi, and spin over the wind to the other side. Now, climb up the bridge and jump on the snowman's head, then grab the star. ============================== Star #2: Chill with the Bully ============================== This star is fairly simple. From the start, go north and you should see a Red "?" Block. However, don't use it; it's a trap. Instead, keep going north from that block. You will see a nearby platform that ice is under. Don't jump on the ice, but on the platform. When you are on the icy platform, you will see an Ice Bully. Simply punch or kick him into the ice below. If you do that, the star will come out, so grab it. =============================== Star #3: Yoshi's Ice Sculpture =============================== You MUST be Yoshi to complete this mission. As Yoshi, proceed to the right. A gust of wind will try and strip away your movement, but just run past it. You'll make it. Nearby is a small wooden fence along with a few Goombas, and a fireplace. Eat the fire from the fireplace, and head back to the start. Go left, and you will see a platform with lots of ice blocks. The one on the topright corner contains the star. However, you must hop from the lowest ice block to the highest, then jump and burn the ice block that holds the star. Then, get back up there, and jump to the star. ====================================== Star #4: Whirl From the Freezing Pond ====================================== For this star, head to the area with the moving ice slopes. Once there, look north. You will see icy water with some flower enemies in it. Either jump on them and begin flying to the high ledge nearby, or use Luigi's backflip spin to get over there. When you reach the next ledge, break the box on the left that contains a star. =============================== Star #5: Snowman's Silver Star =============================== This is, once again, a Silver Star mission. Get to the area with the ice slopes and get over to the area where the last star was. Instead of breaking the box on the left, break the one on the right. A Koopa Shell will come out. Get on the Koopa Shell. Here is how to get each Silver Star. 1) Use the Koopa Shell to ride up the hill where this Silver Star is. 2) From #1, keep going north up the hill. The silver star is there. 3) From #2, drop from the hill you are on. The silver star is in a corner by a wall. 4) Use the Koopa Shell to ride on the ice under the platform where the Ice Bully is. The silver star is on that ice. 5) This one is near the start, in an area with a fireplace and three Goombas. Once you collect all the silver stars, the star will appear in a glass bubble near the start of the level. Run over there and claim it as yours. ======================== Star #6: Into the Igloo ======================== You MUST have Luigi unlocked AND the Red "?" Blocks unlocked to get this star. It is impossible to get otherwise. For this one, get the Koopa Shell. Now, go back to the area where the ice slopes are. With the Koopa Shell, ride up the hill to the left across the icy water, and jump over the fence. Either lose the shell, or dismount it by pressing R. Crawl into the igloo. Inside, there is a "?" Block in the topright corner. Use it to become invisible. Go back to the entrance of the igloo, and go down the cage on the floor. Your star is inside. ================================ Star #7: Red Coins in the House ================================ To start this off, head into the igloo. Inside are 8 Red Coins. As always, here is how to get each one of them, and their locations. 1) You should see a small platform to the north with three coin shadows making a vertical direction. Jump there, and in the middle is a red coin. 2) Just north of #1, in the northwestern corner, is a yellow block, a flower, and a red coin in the air. Grab it. 3) After #2, look to the north. There is a nearby platform forming an L shape that has a yellow block floating above it. This red coin is under the icy water next to that platform. 4) This one is just directly north of #3. 5) From #4, turn around and jump in the pool of water. Dive, and grab the red coin at the end of the string of coins. 6) Near the start, this one can be found in the air. 7) Go to the northwestern corner to find this one in the air. 8) Same as #7, only all the way into the northwestern corner. You will see it while getting #7. The star will appear near where you got the last two red coins, so run over there and grab it. =========================== Star #8: Collect 100 Coins =========================== This one shouldn't be too hard. For starters, get all the coins from the flower enemies just left of your starting point, by the wall. There is also coins in an enemy that bounces around (I forget the name). Be sure to also get the coins inside the igloo, as there are many there. There are also some coins on the bridge leading to the huge snowman head. Once again, don't forget the red coins which are also all inside the igloo. With that, there is little else I can tell you about this 100 Coin Star. You should have it in no time. ================ Mushroom Castle ================ Once you are done with Snowman's Land, exit the mirror room. Back here, go to the entrance of this room, and you'll see a painting with a water spider on it. Jump in it to enter Course #11. ========================== Course #11: Wet-Dry World ========================== Take note that within this level you can drain or raise the water level by swimming into one of the crystals inside the water. The water will drain or raise on that crystals height. For an example, if you went to the very top and then touched the crystal there, and the water was as low as it can go, the water would then rise to the very top, and stop when it reaches the height of the crystal. Get it now? They are scattered throughout the level. I will tell you where they all are. 1) This one is at the bottom right corner of the level. 2) From the start, swim down under the bridge. This one is sitting on a lone platform. 3) Swim just left of where #2 is located. This one is located on a ledge. You have to jump from ledge to ledge when the water level is at a certain amount to get it. 4) This one is located at the highest part of the level. It is down a ramp to the east. 5) The last one is by the purple switch. Just to the right of it is a high platform that is unreachable unless you use Luigi's backflip, or the water level is high enough so that you can jump to it. Also, the higher/lower you jump into the painting, the higher/lower the water level will be when you start the level. =============================== Star #1: Shocking Arrow Lifts! =============================== For this star, jump into the painting as high as possible. Now, from the start, swim to the left. There is a nearby crystal that is on a platform with coins on it. Swim to the crystal to drain the water level to medium. Now, just north of the crystal is a wooden platform. Jump on it, then on the nearby red platforms. Use the arrow lifts you see to move you in the specified direction, then move to the next one. Keep doing that, and be extra careful about the Buzzers. When you make it across, break the yellow block containing a star. ALTERNATE STRATEGY: This can be done WAY too easy by following the instructions of Secret #22 in the Secrets section, the Wet-Dry World Warp. With the water level as low as it can be, get into the topright corner of the Brown structure (the one you climb up to the top). You will be warped to a ledge with the cannon. Walk from the left to the right side of the ledge and fall off. You will land on the platform where the ! Block containing the star is located! SCORE! Alternate Strategy By: HardcoreCanada3 ========================= Star #2: Top O' The Town ========================= Make sure the water level is raised to its highest for this star. Now, go to the northeastern corner, where you'll see a ramp. Swim up the ramp, then jump onto the next ledge where you will meet a Chuckya. Ignore it, as it will toss you somewhere in the level if it grabs you. Go left and cross the small wooden bridge, and avoid the Buzzers. Now, jump from ledge to ledge until you see the star. Then, jump to the star. =========================================== Star #3: 5 Secrets in the Shallows and Sky =========================================== This is a different star than the "5 Silver Stars" and "8 Red Coins". This time, you must find five secrets by doing certain things in the level. Here is how to get them all, and their locations. 1) From the start, lower the water level to as low as possible. Then, go to the left of your starting position. In the left corner is a red block, so push the block to the left until you hear a sound, and a letter pops up above your head. 2) After #1, jump on the platform behind you. Avoid the machine thing, and you should see a red block in the wall. Push it to get this secret. 3) Raise the water level to medium for this one. Then, swim to the brown platform, and perform a triple jump to get to the higher ledge. There is a brown pillar-like thing nearby, surrounded by a Buzzer and some coins. The secret is up there, in a yellow block. 4) After #3, use the purple switch nearby. Jump up to the top of that cage, and break the yellow block there that holds the secret. 5) Go back to where you found #1. Make sure the water is at its lowest level, and push the block so you can reach the yellow block. Break it to get the last secret. When you get all five secrets, swim to the star! ======================================= Star #4: Express Elevator -- Hurry Up! ======================================= This star may sound hard, but I found a way to breeze through it. With perfect ease. First, enter the painting as high as it can go, and make sure you are Luigi. Now, go to the highest level of the stage (where the Chuckya is). Then, grab the nearby "?" Block to become invisible. To the north you should see a big platform that is formed by a grate. Do a backflip as Luigi to that grate, then spin inside. When you are on the wooden platform inside, grab the star. ====================================== Star #5: Go To Town for The Red Coins ====================================== Again, this is a red coin star. Here is each percise location of them, and how to get them. Be sure to set the water level to the highest level, first. Then, near where you got the first star in this level is a platform with a Pink Bob-Omb. Talk to it and it will prepare the cannon. Use the cannon to shoot to the northeastern corner and into the grate. Now, swim down the tunnel and you will be in the town. 1) First, drain the water level. To do this, hit the crystal below of the entrance to the town. Then, just north of the crystal is a purple switch. Hit it and some platforms will appear. Jump on the first one to the norht, and onto the building, where this red coin lurks inside a red box. 2) From #1, look north. You should see a square-like thing with red boxes all over it. One of the boxes holds the red coin. 3) Same as #2. 4) After #2 and #3, look north. You will see a small building. Jump up there and break the red box to get this coin. 5) Just on top of the building from #4. The red coin is sitting there on the roof of the building. 6) Use the purple switch and go north of where you entered the town. You will see a block of stairs. Jump them up and onto the building, where you'll see a red box with a red coin inside. 7) From #6, use Luigi's backflip and spin onto the roof just north of the one you are on. Inside the box is a red coin. 8) For the last one, go to the northwest corner. Stand on the edge of the black square thing near the church building, and use Luigi's backflip spin to get up on top of the building to the north. There is a red box there, and a red coin is inside. As always, after you get all 8 Red Coins, the star will appear. Go to the area it appears in and grab it. ====================================== Star #6: Quick Race Through Downtown! ====================================== This one is easy. Raise the water level to the highest, and head back into the town. Once in the town, lower the water level. Now, go north of the entrance and you'll see a Red "?" Block. Make sure you are Luigi, and become invisible. Now, run to the northwestern corner of the town to find a cage. Run through the cage to find a Power Star on a ledge. Jump up the steps to get it. ============================= Star #7: Soaked Silver Stars ============================= Another silver star mission. Make sure you drain the water to its lowest state. Here are the percise locations of each silver star, and how to obtain them. 1) At the start, this one is in the southeastern corner of the level. Break the boxes to find it. 2) Get on the drawbridge right where you start. Make sure you raise the water level by using two crystals. Hit the purple switch on the bridge to make a set of blocks appear. Go across them and jump on the nearby platform where this silver star awaits. 3) The water level must be at medium for this one. By medium, I mean enough so that the water is covering the very edge of the bridge just north of where you start. Swim behind that bridge to find this silver star. 4) Keeping the water level at the same height as #3, go near the arrow platforms. This one is on a platform floating in the air. 5) Go to the very top of the stage as Mario. Where Chuckya is you will see a "?" Block. Use it to begin floating. Float where you found the second star of this level, and near it is a platform with a silver star. Again, the star will appear in a glass bubble after you collect all five silver stars. So, run to that area and break the bubble to obtain the star. =========================== Star #8: Collect 100 Coins =========================== This 100 Coin Star takes a bit long to get, but it's not really hard. Just be sure to kill all the water spider enemies to get three coins spit out of them. There is also a Blue Coin Switch on the lowest ledge while climbing up to the top of the level. Don't forget the 8 Red Coins, along with the red boxes and yellow blocks that contain coins spreaded throughout the entire level. There is also coins in the town, as you may have already figured. But all in all, this 100 Coin Star is fairly simple to get, it just takes time. Not to mention that there are three coins that Chuckya gives you. Throw him from his back to kill him. There are also some coins on the wooden bridge at the very top. Once you find all the coins, grab your star. ================ Mushroom Castle ================ Once you finish up with Wet-Dry World, head east. You will see a painting with a bunch of mushrooms in it. Jump into it to enter the next stage. ================================ Course #12: Tall, Tall Mountain ================================ ============================ Star #1: Scale the Mountain ============================ For the first star of this level, start running up the mountain. You can find your way through it without me giving specific directions, as there is no need. It is pretty straightfoward. On your way up the mountain, be careful for a cloud that you will encounter. If he blows you away, he will knock you off the mountain, thus also making you lose your cap, There are also Goombas and some black boulders on the way there, so be careful of that. On long gaps you do not think you can reach by jumping, do a long jump to reach it. There will also be a patch of green grass that will act as quicksand and sink you in. To get out, just keep jumping. When you reach the top, grab the star. ==================================== Star #2: Mystery of the Monkey Cage ==================================== To get this star, go to the top of the mountain (again). This time around, there will be a monkey named Ukiki that would like to visit. Grab or eat him, depending on your character. He will say he will show you something if you let him go. Accept his request. Follow him down the mountain, and he will break a cage with a star inside. The star will fall all the way to the bottom where the first Ukiki is, near the log bridge. So go over there and grab your star. =================================== Star #3: Scary 'Shrooms, Red Coins =================================== This red coin star is actually one of the easiest, and it's quick. Yay! Here is how to get each one of them, and their locations. 1) From the start, go north and jump across the two gaps to be in an area with mushrooms everywhere. There is a red coin on one of the mushrooms. 2) Same as #1. 3) Same as #2. 4) Same as #3. 5) After the four above coins, go north to enter a maze with a bunch of holes nearby containing Monty Moles. Inside the maze is a red coin on the ledges. 6) Same as #5. 7) Same as #6. 8) Same as #7. After you get all the coins, the star will appear on top of a mushroom. Go to the mushrooms location, and jump on it and get your star. ================================= Star #4: Mysterious Mountainside ================================= To get this one, start climbing the mountain. About halfway up you will notice a floating cloud that blows wind. To the left of him is a string of coins that point to the wall. This indicates a secret passageway. Jump into the wall to enter a secret area which has a slide, much like the one in Cool, Cool Mountain. Go down the slide, and when the path splits, quickly take the right path. If you don't, you will go to a dead end where you fall to your doom. When you reach the end of the slide, exit through the hole to be back outside. Grab the star in this gate-closed alcove. ====================================== Star #5: Blast to the Lonely Mushroom ====================================== I know of a very easy way to do this. Enter the level as Luigi. Now, in the far distance of the level to the right, you will notice a lone mushroom that you cannot reach. At all. A star is on top of it. Simply have Luigi's back facing the front of the mushroom, and do a helicopter spin onto it. Make sure you are on the very edge of the platform you backflip from. When you land on the mushroom, grab the star. =================================== Star #6: 5 Secrets of the Mountain =================================== This star is much like the one we got in Bob-Omb Battlefield and Wet-Dry World. To get it, enter the painting as Mario. Turn around from the start, and climb to the top of the tree to get an owl to appear. Use the owl to fly to the top of the mountain, then drop down and land on the top. Use the nearby "?" Block to grow wings on your head. Fly around the top and you'll see a ring of coins with one coin in the middle. There are five of these. Collect the coins in the middle of each five ring coins. Each one is considered a secret. When you get them all, the star appears on the top of the mountain, so get it. =========================================== Star #7: Breathtaking View from the Bridge =========================================== You MUST have Wario unlocked to get this star. It is impossible to achieve otherwise. As Wario, use the owl to fly to the top. On the top, go down the hill, and look behind the waterfall. You will notice a black block behind it. There is a small bridge that leads behind the waterfall, so use it to get behind the waterfall. Break the black block to get a star to appear, so grab it. =========================== Star #8: Collect 100 Coins =========================== This is a quite annoying 100 Coin Star, as there are many cliffs around, along with many enemies like the Chuckya that will knock you off the cliff. Collect the coins from every Goomba, and kill the Chuckya in the area with Ukiki. Then, collect the coins from every enemy. Also, collect all 8 Red Coins. There is also a yellow block full of coins near the mushrooms, along with two black blocks that Wario can break. The rest of your coins should be near the wall leading to the slide. If that's not all, then get the ones in the air with Mario by using the Wingcap. After you collect all these, you should have 100 Coins, so get your star. ================ Mushroom Castle ================ After you are done with Tall, Tall Mountain, head to the door with no star on it, much like the one for Snowman's Land. Only it dosen't have a carpet around it. In here, the left painting leads to the huge land, while the right one leads to the tiny land. Just so you know. ============================= Course #13: Tiny-Huge Island ============================= ================================== Star #1: Pluck the Piranha Flower ================================== You must enter the huge painting and be anyone execpt Yoshi for this star. Now, as a giant, go left and jump on the farthest platform to the left. Jump inside the pipe to enter tiny land. Stay on the now huge platform and run around it. Several Piranha Plants will appear. Punch or kick each one of them until they are defeated. Once all of them are gone, a star will appear. Grab it. ======================================== Star #2: The Tip Top of the Huge Island ======================================== You must be tiny for this mission. While tiny, go north through the small tunnel. Now, swim north while avoiding the monster fish. He can eat you! Then, rise to the surface at the end of the water. Go up the ramp, and turn left. Jump to the platform, then walk off the cliff. The wind will push you to the next platform. Now, walk across the wooden plank, and take a left. Be careful not to let the wind push you off the next bridge you cross. When you make it across, keep jumping up platforms while avoiding the falling boulders. When you make it to the high ledge, you will see where all the boulders come out of, and a pipe is nearby. Ignore the pipe, and jump on the ledge to the left. Walk across the wooden bridge, and you'll see a Chuckya before you go across the bridge. Avoid it and go north. At the end of the bridge, you'll come across a yellow block. Break the block for a star to pop out. Grab it as yours. ====================================== Star #3: Rematch with Koopa the Quick ====================================== That's right; we gotta race that ol' turtle from Bob-Omb Battlefield again. Although, he isn't very challenging, in my opinion, as the racing course is very short, and it's not hard to win at all. Anyways, first enter as a giant. Now, go up to the top of the mountain simply by jumping your way up there, and you'll see a pipe near the top. Jump in it to become tiny. Make sure you are Mario, of course, otherwise he will refuse to race you (lamer). As tiny Mario, go down the hill near the alcove that the cannonballs fall from. You will meet Koopa the Quick again over at the far left side of the platform. Speak with him and he will challenge you to a rematch (if you are Mario). Accept it. When the race begins, be noted that Koopa the Quick is MUCH faster than he was before, but it still isn't very difficult. Go out of this area the same way you entered it, and ignore the falling cannonballs and the nearby pipe. To avoid the cannonballs and to make sure Koopa the Quick does not get ahead of you, perform massive long jumps. Over and over. Once you get to the wooden bridge that has wind blowing when you walk across it, run across it and avoid the wind. Be extra careful not to fall off. If you do, you have to restart. Anyways, when you make it across, you will see the flag goal. Get there and end the race. If you got ahead of him and won the race, he will give you the Power Star. This time around, we won't be seeing him again. =========================== Star #4: Klepto the Condor =========================== For this star, enter through the huge painting. Make sure you are Luigi. Now, go north through the hole, and get on the sand. Perform a backflip onto the platform in the middle. Now, if Klepto flies over you, hit him to get your star. If he moves away, you have to go all the way to where the Piranhas were, and get to the platform in the air. Either way, grab your star. ============================= Star #5: Wiggler's Red Coins ============================= Enter as huge Luigi for this one. Now, go to the top of the mountain where the boulders fall out. Jump into the pipe to make every enemy huge. Go to where Koopa the Quick was, and you will see a wooden bridge to the north. Do a spin with Luigi's backflip over onto the bridge, then enter the hole. Here is the locations of the red coins, and how to get them. 1) This one is on a platform scattered throughout the area. 2) Same as #1. 3) Same as #2. 4) Same as #3. 5) Same as #4. 6) Same as #5. 7) Same as #6. 8) Same as #7. After you get all the easy-to-get red coins, the star will appear in the north western corner. Go over there and grab it. ============================= Star #6: Make Wiggler Squirm ============================= You must be a giant for this one. As a giant, go to the very top of the mountain. The top is filled with water. Ground pound it to drain the water. Now, go to the nearest pipe near the top and become tiny. Make your way to the top of the mountain as you did as a giant. Enter the now accessible hole to enter a secret area. In here, you will meet Wiggler. He will talk for a minute, and the battle begins. All you have to do is stomp on his head by jumping on his head. Do this three times to win. He gets faster each time you hit him. When you defeat him, grab the star. =================================== Star #7: Switch Star On the Island =================================== Be either Mario or Luigi for this, and go near the top of the mountain as a giant. Enter the pipe to become tiny, then enter the inside of the mountain the same way you did for the 8 Red Coins. Instead of getting the red coins, look in the corner in the southwest. There is a switch. Press it to have a star to appear in a glass bubble. Run over to the north and hold onto the cage to reach the platform. Drop to get the star. =========================== Star #8: Collect 100 Coins =========================== To get this star, enter through both lands, but I suggest being tiny first. Stomp the huge Goombas by a ground pound to get Blue Coins out of them. There are coins spreaded throughout the land, and there is a Lakitu that throws Spinies. Simply use Yoshi to eat the Spiny, then go to a wall where no enemies are nearby. Throw the egg to get one coin. Rinse and repeat until you get as many coins as wanted. There are coins spreaded EVERYWHERE, and there are more than enough blue coins from the Goombas that you can get. Get all 8 Red Coins, too. After this, it should be enough for the 100 Coins. ================ Mushroom Castle ================ When you finish with Tiny-Huge Island, exit the room. Back here, you should see a set of stairs nearby. Run them up, and open the 50-Star-Door to enter the next area. In here, you will hear and see a clock just to the north. The trick is, jump into the clock either when the hand is on 12 o' clock, or any other time. 12 o' clock makes all the moving objects (execpt enemies, of course) stop, giving you the high advantage. ============================ Course #14: Tick Tock Clock ============================ =========================== Star #1: Luigi in the Cage =========================== You MUST have Luigi unlocked AND the Red "?" Blocks unlocked before you can attempt this star. It is impossible to get otherwise. As Luigi, enter the level and make sure everything has stopped. Now, make your way up the clock simply by jumping over and to each platform. Do this until you come across a pole that you can climb up. Climb it up, and jump. Behind you is a platform. Jump to it and get on the grate platform. There is a Red "?" Block. Use it to become invisible. Now, fall down until you see a cage, then fall into it and grab your star. ================================== Star #2: The Pendulum Switch Star ================================== To get this star, make sure the time is frozen. Now, make your way to the top of the clock. When you climb the pole, this time, continue along the pathway. When you do, you will see a switch. Press it for the star to appear nearby. Simply jump across the platforms until you get to it, then grab the star. ==================== Star #3: Get A Hand ==================== For this one, freeze the time and enter the stage as Luigi. Now, shortly after you begin climbing the clock, you will notice a hand on a grate. Get on the very edge of that hand, and do a backflip spin. Spin to the alcove you see, which has the star in it. ============================= Star #4: Stomp on the Thwomp ============================= For this star, enter the clock at 3 o' clock, and as Luigi. Now, make your way to the very top of the clock. You will see a minute hand. Ride it across, and then jump on the conveyor belt. When the Thwomp comes down, jump on him and then jump to the next ledge and grab your star. ==================================== Star #5: Timed Jumps on Moving Bars ==================================== To get this one, enter the stage as Luigi while time is frozen. Now, climb the clock until you reach the pole. Climb the pole, then jump. Turn around, and jump onto that platform, then to the next platform until you see a high ledge that is only reachable by backflipping. Do so, and grab the Wario Cap. Now, drop down the right side. You should see a walkway with a cage nearby. Go to that walkway and punch the black block at the end. Go inside and grab the star. ================================= Star #6: Stop Time for Red Coins ================================= The name is pretty self-explanatory. Stop the time, and enter the course as any chosen character. From the start, look behind you. You will see an area that has many platforms. These platforms have red coins on them. Go to that area. Even though it's not required, I shall tell you where every red coin is, and how to obtain them. 1) In the area behind of where you start, on one of the many platforms. Time must be stopped. 2) Same as #1. 3) Same as #2. 4) Same as #3. 5) Same as #4. 6) Same as #5. 7) Same as #6. 8) Same as #7. After you collect all 8 Red Coins, the star will appear next to all the set of platforms, where the platforms start going up. Jump down and get it. ================================ Star #7: Tick Tock Silver Stars ================================ This is...the EASIEST star to get in this level, next to the 8 Red Coins. To get this star, stay at your start point. I won't give you the locations of these silver stars, as they will ALL fall down to where you start. After you collect all 5 Silver Stars, the star appears near the very top of the clock. Rush up there and grab it. =========================== Star #8: Collect 100 Coins =========================== This 100 Coin Star is quite annoying, due to the huge level and all the cliffs and stuff. Make sure you get all 8 Red Coins (so the time must be frozen), and that you kill ALL the enemies in the level. There is also a Blue Coin Switch near the very top of the clock. There is really nothing for me to tell you about this 100 Coin Star, because there is nothing but Goombas and coins lying around everywhere. You will find lots of coins on your way up to the top of the clock, while looking for the Blue Coin Switch. After you get all the 100 Coins, go and grab your star. ================ Mushroom Castle ================ When you finish up with Tick Tock Clock, go east of the clock and jump into the alcove there. Inside is a hole, so jump in to enter the final stage. ========================= Course #15: Rainbow Ride ========================= ====================================== Star #1: Cruiser Crossing the Rainbow ====================================== This is by far the most difficult stage in the entire game, and it's because all of the small platforms you have to get on, and all the cliffs. Anyways, from the start, get on the magic carpet. It will take you for a ride around the circle thing you see. Avoid the flamethrower thing, and when the carpet takes you to the next platform, jump off of it before it goes off the cliff. Now, go east while jumping on the spinning platforms, and while avoiding the Lakitu that throws Spinies. Take the right path. Ride the carpet, and when it goes under a platform, jump on that platform until it comes out the other side. After you keep doing this, eventually the carpet will come to an end. When it does, take the left carpet. This carpet will ride up in a circle-like formation and carry you under a platform that spins. There are two rectangle-shaped things that are on the side of that platform, so be careful not to get knocked off of the carpet. Eventually, the carpet comes to an end, allowing you to jump on a ledge above you. Do so, and walk across the wooden plank onto the ship. Now, run over to the edge of the ship (the front end) where the star lurks. Grab the star to complete this mission. ================================== Star #2: The Big House in the Sky ================================== For this star, do the same thing as you did for #1. Only this time, when the second carpet comes to an end, take the right one. It will ride you through some weird blue-like platforms. Jump on those, and wait until the carpet comes out, then jump back on it. The carpet will take you to a house-like structure, and you can see the boat from the last star in the distance. When it takes you inside the house, avoid the fire-spitting fireplace. It will take you to the top, where the roof is. When it comes to an end, jump on the roof. Atop the roof you will see a star, so grab it. ================================= Star #3: Coins Amassed in a Maze ================================= This is another 8 Red Coin star. To get it, ride the first carpet at the start. When it comes to an end, take the north path. You will be in a maze full of red coins. Here is how to get them all, even though it is logically pointless to tell you. You must be Luigi for this. Do whatever you can, such as backflip, jump, etc., to get these coins. 1) This one is in the maze. You will find it hidden on one of the ledges. 2) Same as #1. 3) Same as #2. 4) Same as #3. 5) Same as #4. 6) Same as #5. 7) Same as #6. 8) Same as #7. Once again, the star will appear above the blue star marker after collecting all of the coins, so go grab it. ================================ Star #4: Swingin' in the Breeze ================================ I recommend Luigi for this star. From the start, look behind you. Perform a backflip spin over to the platform you see in the distance. Ignore the pole, and go on the tilting platform. Jump onto the next platform, then jump on the swinging one when it comes to you. When it takes you to the other side, use the tilting platform to jump onto the flesh platform that falls when stood on. Then jump to the next one until you reach the next platform. Now, go up the steepy hill thing to the north. When you make it up, use the next swinging platform. It will carry you to a platform with the star, so get it. =========================== Star #5: Tricky Triangles! =========================== This star can be quite tough, so I suggest being Luigi for this one also. Go the same way you did for the last star, but instead of going up the brown hill, go to the right side. Hop across each platform until you reach a platform with a purple switch. You will see a bunch of upside down platforms. Press the purple switch, and those upside down platforms will now be accessible...for a very short amount of time. Quickly hop across one to another, then turn around and jump on the higher ones. If you make it fast enough, grab your star on the platform. If you don't make it, you will probably slide off, forcing you to restart the mission. ==================================== Star #6: Somewhere Over the Rainbow ==================================== Enter the stage as Mario for this one. Now, go to the red coin maze. In there, go to the very end of it, and perform a bunch of Wallkicks to the top. Once you make it to the top, speak with the pink Bob-Omb there. He will open the cannon for you, way aboard the ship. Now you must go all the way to the boat. Refer to the first star of this stage if you need help getting there. Anyways, once you make it to the ship, go to the right end of it, where the cannon is. Jump into the cannon, and aim to the right. You will see a platform in the air, along with a rainbow ring. Shoot through the ring, and land on the platform. Be extra careful of the Chuckya, and break the yellow box to get the star. ================================== Star #7: Switch Star of the Manor ================================== You must be Mario to complete this star. Ride the carpet in the beggining. When it ends, jump onto the spinning platforms. Take the right path, and ride the next carpet until it ends. Once it ends, take the right carpet. This carpet will take you to the manor (again). When it goes inside the manor, this time jump off the carpet, into the actual manor itself. Then, take the exit by the south, and hop on the wooden bridge-like thing. To the north of that, at the edge, is a switch. Press it, and the star will appear on top of the roof. Now, quickly go inside the manor again, and use the Red "?" Block to become a balloon Mario. Float through the hole at the top, then deflate onto the roof, and grab your star. =========================== Star #8: Collect 100 Coins =========================== Some say this is the hardest 100 Coin Star to get. EVER, but that is not true. Using my strategic strategy, getting this 100 Coin Star will be a super breeze. First, enter the level as Yoshi. Now, go into the red coin maze. A Goomba in the maze will have a Mario Cap on. Get the Mario cap from it, and head to the left end of the maze. There is a Blue Coin Switch nearby. Press it, and some Blue Coins will appear on the far right end. Go there, and perform a wallkick up to the top. Up here, grab all the Blue Coins. Next, go for all the 8 Red Coins. After this, you should already be halfway to 100. Now, lose the Mario Cap by getting hit by a Spiny on the spinning platforms. Now, DO NOT kill the Lakitu. Instead, eat the Spiny he throws down, and make an egg. Go to the maze and make sure no enemies are there, then throw the egg at the wall. Collect the coin. Rinse and repeat until you have 100 Coins, then get your star. I know it takes a while, but it's much quicker than going through the entire level for the coins. ================ Mushroom Castle ================ After you are done with Rainbow Ride, you have officially been everywhere in this game. From here on, you can only do two more things: either go through the 80-Star-Door facing Tick Tock Clock to fight Bowser one last time, or go and find some Castle Secret Stars so you can obtain a maximum of 150. Take note, however, that you can only fight the final Bowser if you have 80 Stars, and if you enter as Mario. If you enter as any other character, the stairs will be endless, regardless if you have 80 Stars or not. Regardless, whenever you are ready, enter the 80-Star-Door as Mario, and go up the stairs and drop into the hole to enter the final Bowser stage. ================== Bowser in the Sky ================== This is it: the last Bowser stage. It also has 8 Red Coins and a Switch Star, but refer to the Castle Secret Stars section for information on those stars. From the start, head east. Jump across the platforms, and jump on the yellow moving platform when it comes towards you. Now, get on the tilting platform, but be extra careful. Go in a zigzag direction like the platform itself, and run up to the next platform. Now, run up the white hill, and take a turn to the left. You will come across a yellow tilting bridge. Get on it, then jump to one of the moving blue platforms. Now, backflip onto the high platform above you when you can, and you'll see a purple switch. Press the switch, and a set of stairs will form over on the next ledge. Go up the stairs, and you'll see a pink Bob-Omb. It gives you info on the whereabouts of the red coins on this stage. Run up the grey platform, and avoid the flamethrowers. Take a turn to the left, and run down the platform. Turn left, and avoid the baby Piranha Flower. Now, jump on the arrow platform. It will take you north. When it goes under a ledge, jump to that ledge and wait on it to come out, then jump on it again. When you finally make it to the next ledge, go north and climb up the pole. Jump to the next platform. Now, go north, and when the blue platform comes out, run on it and jump to the pole. Then, when the second blue platform comes out, jump to it and onto the next platform. Now, run up this platform and jump on the blue rotating platform. There is yet another set of rotating platforms, so jump to that one, as well. When you make it to the next platform, jump to the north and begin running. Don't worry; the Goombas will more than likely not hit you. When you run through the wind, jump up the stairs, and jump into the pipe. You will now be in another arena where Bowser will show himself for one last time. The music even fits the bill really good! But he is a pushover, so don't worry. You fight him the same exact way you did the last time, execpt this time a few things have changed. If you toss him off the cliff, when he comes up and lands, he will crush a piece of the arena, and two shockwaves will come from the bottom of his feet. This time, he also does an attack (that is very slow) in which he breathes fire into the air, causing it to spread, making little fire spreaded throughout the arena. You also have to throw him into THREE bombs this time; not just one. And, when you hit him a second time, he will crush SEVERAL pieces of the arena, making a form of a star. After you hit him three times, walk up to him. If you defeat him with 150 Stars, he has a different speech. He will drop a huge star (it dosen't add to your star count). Collect it and Mario will grow wings and fly off. Congratulations! You just beat Super Mario 64 DS! Enjoy the ending and its very great music. If you haven't already, go and collect the rest of the stars! There are 150 in all. After you collect 150 Stars, the cannon outside of the castle will open. This time, though, there is nothing up there execpt one of Luigi's minigame rabbits, three 1-Ups, and a Red "?" Block for you to mess around with. But enjoy your prize! It's a great feeling to get all 150 Stars anyway! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ =============== VI. Mini-Games =============== This section will list the several Mini-Games with several characters that you can unlock by collecting rabbits spreaded throughout the castle. It will also tell you what to do on each minigame, and give you a description on them. =================== Yoshi's Mini-Games =================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Wanted Description: Find the picture of the wanted character under the mad crowd of characters! It gets harder each level. Strategy: This game is really fun, but can get VERY boring VERY fast. All you gotta do is find the picture of the wanted character, then touch it on the Touch Screen. Each round gets harder and harder. Every time you find a character you gain five seconds added to your time. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Loves Me Description: Pluck the petals off of the flower, and see what you get! Strategy: This minigame is very pointless. All you do is touch the petals of the flower, and pluck them off. That's it. You'll either get "Loves Me Not!", or "Loves Me!", or "Really Loves Me!". You CAN, though, pluck two petals off, and then catch one in the air, and go for the other one. That's fun. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hide 'n Boo Seek Description: Find all the Boo's hidden inside the dark! This minigame is insanely difficult. Strategy: The Boo's will cut the lights out, then the Touch Screen will go black, and you'll have to reveal the room by rubbing the touch screen. This will find the Boos. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Puzzel Panel Description: This game is hard. You have to switch the puzzle pieces around and get them correctly shaped out. Strategy: I've never played this minigame myself, but the description basically says it all. Each level gets more confusing and harder. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Boom Box Description: You must touch a chest to hear a sound. Touch another one and hope it is identical to the other one! Each round is harder and harder. Strategy: Touch any treasure chest to hear a certain sound. Then, touch another treasure chest, and if it is the same sound as the last one, you win. Every round is tougher and tougher to the point of almost impossibility. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Toy Box Shuffle Description: The game starts out with one Yoshi in a Tox Box. There are three Tox Boxes, and they will shuffle. You must guess the one with the Yoshi in it. Strategy: The description explains it all. However, there will eventually be more than one Yoshi, and then it gets even harder! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Which Wiggler? Description: Much like Wanted, only this time it's with a Wiggler, and there aren't nearly as many Wigglers as there are pictures. Strategy: The top screen will show you a Wiggler. Look at the spots on the Wigglers back, then find it on the Touch Screen and touch it. Five seconds are added to your time each time you get it right. The rounds get harder and faster each time. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mix-A-Mug Description: Put together the correct face of the character shown on the top screen! Be careful not to make them have funny faces! Strategy: On the top screen, it will show you a face of a character. You must touch the top part on the Touch Screen to begin matching the characters hat, then go down to their face, then their chin. If you win, you advance to the next round. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Puzzle Panic Description: This is just like Puzzle Panel, only the puzzles are larger. Strategy: Play this the same way you did Puzzle Panel. It is a bit harder, but other than that, it's really the same thing. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ =================== Mario's Mini-Games =================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mario's Slides Description: Guide Mario through the line maze by drawing lines connecting to other lines on the Touch Screen. Be careful not to be eaten by the Piranhas! Strategy: The description says it all. Guide Mario's head through the lines by drawing other lines on the Touch Screen. Fall into the star to win. This game is really hard, as it requires quick thinking and quick hands. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Bounce and Pounce Description: You must make Mario jump on the Shy Guys in the area! Strategy: Several Mario's will fall from the sky. You must touch them to make them jump on the Touch Screen, and make them land on the Shy Guys. If three Mario's fall, it's game over. Each round you get your lives back. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Sort or 'Splode Description: Place all the Bob-Ombs in the carpet that matches their color. If you do not, the Bob-Ombs explode, and it's game over! Strategy: The description basically explains how to play this minigame. After one round, they will all gather up and add to your score. Keep playing, and get as high score as possible! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Trampoline Time Description: Draw a trampoline on the Touch Screen for Mario. Guide him through the lit up door in the area. Be careful not to fall off! Strategy: Again, the description explains how to play this minigame. Be careful not to let Mario fall off, however! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Shuffle Shell Description: Shoot the shells on the ice into the target in the middle! Depending on where the shell lands, the more points you get. Strategy: On the Touch Screen, lower the paddle to the bottom, then release it up as hard as you can. It will hit a shell. If it lands on the target, you get a certain amount of points, depending on where on the target it lands. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Bounce and Trounce Description: Much like the Bounce and Pounce minigame, only this time, there are no rounds, and the Shy Guys move. Strategy: Tap the Marios on the Touch screen to make them jump on the Shy Guys heads. The more Shy Guys you hit, the more appear on the screen. If you lose three Mario's, it's an instant game over. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Connect the Characters Description: Think, and draw lines to match the characters heads with their bodies! Be careful not to mess up! Strategy: The description explains this game. It requires MUCH thinking, and each time you get past a round, the lines you drew last round will still remain there. If you mess up the connection of the heads, you lose. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Shell Smash Description: Use the paddle to slam the shells, making them hit each other, giving you points. Get as much points as possible before the game ends! Strategy: On the Touch Screen, move the stylus down, then yank it up to send the shells flying. They will knock on each other, giving you more points. You get a few tries before the game ends, so use those tries wisely. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Trampoline Terror Description: This is much like Trampoline Time, execpt this time you must guide Mario through rings instead of doors. Strategy: Draw a trampoline on the Touch Screen, and guide him through the rings spreaded throughout the area. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ =================== Luigi's Mini-Games =================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Memory Match Description: Luigi will deal out some cards on a board, so try and match the cards to make them disappear. Clear the board to win! Strategy: The description explains this minigame. All you gotta do is touch a card on the Touch Screen, then match it with another card. After all the cards are emptied from the board, you win. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Pair-A-Gone Description: Bet on a certain amount of coins, and pick identical cards! Strategy: The description basically explains it. Like Memory Match, Luigi will throw cards on a board. You must bet a certain amount of coins, then pick a card. Then you must pick the same card a second time. If you do, then the card disappears from the board. If you miss, you lose three coins. If you miss three times, you lose three stars. You get one star after every round. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Picture Poker Description: Bet coins, and get a better hand than Luigi if you can! Strategy: You must look at the topleft corner of the screen to tell the combinations and values you must get. However, the cards at the topleft are not pictures of the cards in the real game. You can also get rid of the cards you do not want. If you click Hit/Hold, you will get another hand, and Luigi will compare his hand to yours. If you win, you get how many ever times more coins than you betted, and if you lose, you lose coins. If you lose all of your coins, then you lose the game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mushroom Roulette Description: Try to take a guess as to where the ball will land on the spinning roulette. If you guess the right spot, you win! Strategy: You must bet coins, and drag the coins onto the square of how many coins you want to bet. If you guessed the correct symbol, then you get a certain amount of coins, depending on what symbol you betted on. If you run out of coins, you lose the game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mario Slots Description: Touch the spinning slots on the Touch Screen to stop them. Better get all items to win! Strategy: The description basically tells you how to play this minigame. Just touch the Touch Screen to stop the slots. You can bet on some coins, and if you get identical on all three slots, you win. If you get a Super Star, you REALLY win! This game never ends, and you just play it for fun. Quit whenever you want to quit. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Lucky Stars Description: Pick the card with more stars to win coins, and beat Luigi! Strategy: Pick a card. You'll want to get one with a lot of stars on it. You can also make your bet at the topleft corner of the Touch Screen. Then, after you make your bet, choose a card. If Luigi has a card with less stars on it, then you win. If he has a card with more stars than you, you lose. When you run out of coins, you lose the game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Pair-A-Gone And On Description: Get the record! Play this game and never quit until you're ready! Strategy: Yep, the description says it all. This is the same thing as the Pair-A-Gone minigame, only it never ends. You keep playing and playing, trying to get the highest score possible until you get tired. Once you are done, you must press Start and select Quit from the Touch Screen. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Memory Master Description: This game is harder than the original "Memory Match" minigame, and this time you will have more cards! Strategy: This is a harder version of Memory Match, and thus you have more cards. You also have five chances in this one. Some of the cards will also be slightly revealed to you in this minigame. If you get a match of cards, then you gain a coin. You start out with five coins, and if you lose them, it's an instant game over. Be sure to memorize where each pair of cards are at! You gain a star each time you win a round. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Super Mario Slots Description: This minigame is basically the SAME thing as Mario Slots. Strategy: Yes, this is the SAME THING. Only you have a much better chance of winning than you did before. You can bet coins, blah blah blah. Read the first version, Mario Slots, if you really want to know how to play this one. The reward for getting all 150 Stars is THIS?! Well, at least you got them all (or you used a trick)! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ =================== Wario's Mini-Games =================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Bob-Omb Squad Description: There are Bob-Ombs on parachutes in an attempt to blow up the flowers! Don't let them do it! Strategy: Use the slingshot on the Touch Screen to shoot the Bob-Ombs coming down in the air. If you hit the Lakitu, you make all of them explode! If the Bob-Ombs land on all of your flowers, the game is over. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Snowball Slalom Description: Roll the small snowball into a huge one. Be careful not to hit the rocks, and make sure you make it to the end within the time limit! Strategy: On the Touch Screen, start sliding the stylus upwards. Do it rapidly to make the snowball roll and grow very fast. You can control it by moving the stylus in different directions. Be careful not to roll into a rock, or it will slow you down drastically. If you make it to the end of the stage within the time limit, you win! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Bingo Ball Description: Use the pinball machine-type thing to shoot a ball into a number that will light up on the top screen. Get three numbers in a row to score! Strategy: The description explains this minigame very well. To shoot the ball, use the right side of the Touch Screen, then pull the handle down, and release it to launch the ball. If you land in three numbers in a row, you win! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Coincentration Description: Watch the coins as they fall from the screen. Pay attention to what blocks they fall into! Strategy: Watch the coins fall before the minigame starts. Pay attention to what blocks they will fall into, as well. Then, touch those blocks to get some coins from them. If you touch an empty block, you lose the game! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Psyche Out! Description: Look at the two cards. Look VERY closely. What do you see? Strategy: A card that the game wants you to get will appear on the top screen. Look on the Touch Screen for that card. Look very, very closely and hard. If you do, you should see an outlining of the symbol behind the card. If you think it matches the one on the top screen, touch it. After five score, the game will tell you you're lucky, and you'll be set up with more cards to choose from. Each level gets harder to see. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Slots Shot Description: Shoot the ball and try to activate the Slots Machine! Then, try and use the Slot Machine to get identical slots! Strategy: Pull down the handle on the Touch Screen, and shoot the ball. It will go flying, then bounce around everywhere. The mushrooms are bumpers. If the ball lands into a Piranha Plant, the blue bar things will open. If you shoot the ball into a pipe, the slot machine starts. Get an identical match for a good bonus! Keep playing the game, scoring as much points as possible until the game ends! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Intense Coincentration Description: There are less coins falling in this one, but still pay close attention! That shouldn't stop Wario! Strategy: Like the description says, there are less falling coins in this one. Make sure you pay attention to what block each coin goes in. Touch the blocks with the coins. If you touch an empty block, you lose! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Giant Snowball Slalom Description: The same thing as the last one, only a longer course! Strategy: Play this minigame the same way you did Snowball Slalom, only this time it is a longer course. As before, be careful of the rocks, as they will drastically slow you down if you run into them. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ======================= VII. Mini-Game Rabbits ======================= There are several rabbits spreaded throughout the castle, and even outside the castle. Catch them to unlock certain minigames. They are in different locations with each character, so here is the location of each one. It is found by some trees. 2) In the room with the entrance to Whomp's Fortress, the rabbit is there. 3) This rabbit is located in the courtyard. 4) When you first enter the basement, it is at the dead end to the left. 5) In the room where Tiny-Huge Island is. 6) This one is in front of the entrance to Tick Tock Clock. 7) On the third floor, this one is in the alcove to the left. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ========================== VIII. Castle Secret Stars ========================== There are a total of 30 Castle Secret Stars in the game. I will list how to get each one of them here. ===================== Middle Floor Secrets ===================== There are a lot Castle Secret Stars on the middle floor. I will list them here. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ============================ The Princess's Secret Slide ============================ To get this one, go to the northeastern door on the main floor. Once in here, turn to the right. You'll see a painting of Princess Toadstool. Jump in it, and you'll enter the stage. All you do is slide down to the bottom, then break the box and grab the star. ======================================== The Princess's Secret Slide - Revisited ======================================== After (or before) you get the first star in this place, return here. This time, you must get down the slide within, or exactly at 20 Seconds. The star will appear if you do so. ==================== The Secret Aquarium ==================== To get this CSS, go to the main hallway. Now, enter the Jolly Roger Bay room. In here, turn right and jump into the hole in the wall there. You will enter a secret stage in which you must swim to collect the 8 Red Coins. They are very easy to get, but I'll list them anyway. 1) To get this red coin, swim around the area, but not at the bottom. It's floating in the middle of a ring of coins. 2) Same as #1. 3) Same as #2. 4) Same as #3. 5) Swim to the bottom of the floor, and there is a red coin there. 6) Same as #5. 7) Same as #6. 8) Same as #7. After you collect all the 8 Red Coins, the star will appear in the middle at the bottom of the aquarium. Grab it and it is yours. =============== Sunshine Isles =============== For this star, go to the room where the Princess's Secret Slide is. Then, go north and proceed through the double doors. In the Rec Room, go to the left, and you'll see a painting. Jump in it to enter this secret stage. This is a beach, and it plays the Isle Delfino music from Super Mario Sunshine. You must collect 5 Silver Stars. You could just look on the Touch Screen for their locations, but I will list how to get each one of them. 1) From the start, proceed north and you'll see Klepto with a Silver Star. Hit him to make him drop it, so grab it. 2) For this one, go west of #1, and it is sitting on a platform thing. 3) To get this one, go north and you should see a platform with a tree. Above that tree is a silver star. Grab it. 4) To get this silver star, go to the middle of the area (where Klepto is), and jump on the high ledge there. On the top there is a silver star. 5) For the last one, go behind the huge platform. The silver star is there. After you get all of them, a star will appear in the sphere. So get to the sphere, and jump to achieve this star. ========================== The Secret of Battle Fort ========================== You must have Mario before you can get this one. To get this one, go to the main castle hall. Now, enter one of the brown doors. In here, go through the hallway (NOT down towards the basement), and enter the door. Outside in the courtyard, go towards the northeast, and you'll see three red blocks. Punch them to reveal a hole. Jump into the hole to enter the secret stage. There are 5 Silver Stars in here. I will list how to get each one of them below. 1) From the start, go north and hold onto the cage. Climb to the pole, then climb it up to get this one. 2) After #1, drop directly down into the main area. Kill the Goomba nearest to the pole and the silver star will pop out. 3) After #2, go around the corners of the stage. One of the boxes in those corners contains the silver star. 4) For this one, go to the main area and go directly south. Look on the Touch Screen for help. The silver star is in one of the boxes. 5) Around the area where all the Goomba's are and everything else (where you found #3), one of the Goomba's have it. Once you've gotten all five Silver Stars, a star will appear. Go grab it. ============================= Castle Courtyard 8 Red Coins ============================= To get this one, get 15 Stars. Then, go to the main castle hallway. Now, go into one of the two brown doors. Here, go north and you'll see a Boo. Follow the Boo outside into the courtyard. Out here, you'll see a bunch of Boos. Eight of them contain red coins. Punch the ones that have them, and then a star will appear. Grab it. ============================== Goomboss Battle - 8 Red Coins ============================== Incase you are confused, this is Goomboss Battle, execpt I labled it with "8 Red Coins" to indicate I'm going to tell you how to get each red coin. To get to the Goomboss Battle stage, go to the room where you can switch characters. Then, go north into the door there. In the Rec Room, go to the northeast corner and open the door there. In here, jump into the Mario Painting to enter the course. Here is the location of each red coin, and how to get them. 1) From the start of the level, make sure you enter as Yoshi. In the center of the level is a yellow block. Nearby is a tilting platform, where the red coin is. 2) On the tree stump-like platforms, there is a Piranha Plant just north of those. Jump across each one, and kill the plant, and get the red coin. 3) This red coin is located under a grating. Climb the grating to collect this red coin as yours. 4) For this one, look around the area. You should see two moving square platforms. Let them carry you over to a lone platform with a black block, and a Goomba. Kill the Goomba and get the Wario Cap from it. Now, break the black block containing this red coin. 5) Go to the area where you find the pole. Climb it to the top, then jump. Turn around, and you'll see a red coin. 6) In the very back, in the corner of the level, jump on the moving platform. When it rises to the top, jump to get this one. 7) Become Mario. Now, go to the area with the Red "?" Block. Use it to become a Balloon. Float to the top of that stump, where this red coin lurks. 8) From #7, become Luigi and hit the Red "?" Block to become invisible. Now, on the tree stump you should see a cage. Perform a backflip, and walk into the cage with this red coin. After you've collected all 8 Red Coins, the star will appear on a stump. So, run over there and grab it! ============================== Goomboss Battle - Switch Star ============================== You MUST have Mario unlocked to complete this star. It is impossible to get otherwise. As Mario, head down the slide at the start. Here, take a right, and jump onto the platform there, then onto the zigzag type platform. Turn around, and then go up the nearby small ramp. Walk slowly, and punch the Piranha to death. Now, jump from the four platforms onto the next platform. Go left, and you'll see a switch. Press it to make a star appear in the glass bubble. Quickly go left into the red cage, then perform a series of wallkicks to the top. Then, grab the star as your own. ============================= Big Boo Battle - 8 Red Coins ============================= As always, I will tell you where every red coin is in this stage. Make sure you are Mario when you enter this stage. 1) From the start of the stage, this one is to the north, by a door. 2) After #1, take the east path and proceed into the next room. Run across the breakable walkway, and a red coin is sitting in the corner. 3) After #2, run through the breakable walkway to the east, collecting the red coin along the way. 4) After #3, take the left path into the next room. In here, jump on the platform in the middle. Use the Red "?" Block as Mario to become a Balloon. Float to the topright corner of the room, where this red coin is. 5) After #4, take the east path, where this red coin is sitting. 6) From #5, take the east door. In this room, use the elevator platforms to ride to the eastern side of the room, where the red coin is. 7) Same as #6, execpt this one is on the left side. 8) Get the Wario Cap, then take the left path. In this room, break the black block containing this red coin. After you've obtained all 8 Red Coins, the star will appear just left of the last one I mentioned, in the last room. ============================= Big Boo Battle - Secret Star ============================= For this star, make your way to the room with the Red "?" Block. Make sure you are Luigi for this. Use the block to become invisible. Now, quickly make your way to the last room, then run across the long walkway. Now, jump into the Boo painting, where you will find a star. ======================================= Bowser in the Dark World - 8 Red Coins ======================================= This red coin star can be done with any character, but I recommend not using Wario for this star. Here is the location of all the coins, and how to obtain them. 1) From the start, head east. You should come across a flamethrower, with a purple switch right next to it. When it stops the flames, press the switch, and run to the left. When the flamethrower stops again, head directly south of it, and take the red coin off of the block. 2) With the purple switch still activated, head back to the start, and go south. The red coin is on a set of blocks there. 3) For this one, continue through the level like normal, until you come across a crystal maze full of buzzers. Grab the red coin by one of the crystals. 4) From #3, proceed through the level even more. This red coin is on the moving yellow bridge, facing the right side of the platform. 5) After #4, use the two nearby elevator platforms. They will carry you to a red coin in the corner. 6) From #5, proceed through the level, until you come across the tilting platforms. Don't jump on them, though. Instead, turn around and walk across the small bridge-like thing. On this platform, there is a red coin in the center of the platform. 7) After #6, proceed to the tilting platforms. Go up to the high platform that the bridge takes you to. Then, perform a series of long jumps across the platforms. On the third one is the red coin. 8) From #7, proceed back to the last ledge. Then, go to the left corner of it, and drop down. You will be on a very small edge, with a red coin. After you've collected them all, the star will appear next to the pipe leading to Bowser, so grab it. ======================================= Bowser in the Dark World - Switch Star ======================================= Enter the stage, and make it all the way to the end. Don't jump in the pipe. Look behind the pipe to find a switch. Press it, and a star will appear in the glass bubble over a series of platforms. Long jump across those platforms, then break the glass to get this star. ================================ "?" Switch Palace - 8 Red Coins ================================ This is actually a very easy star to obtain. You must be Mario to obtain this. As Mario, enter the palace. See the Walkthrough section if you don't know how to get in there. You will start with wings on. Fly to the left, collecting two red coins along the way. Begin flying around the structure in the middle, collecting the rest of the coins. The star will appear in the middle of the stage, on top of the tower. Grab it. =============== The White Door =============== For this star, get Yoshi, and head outside the castle. Once outside, examine all of the rabbits outside the castle. If one is glowing, eat it. There are 8 Glowing Rabbits in all. Rinse and repeat the same process until you catch all the Glowing Rabbits, then head to the character changing room. In here, open the door without any letter over it. You will come out with a star. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ======================= Basement Floor Secrets ======================= There are a little secret stars here, but not many. I'll list how to get them, and their percise location here. ================================================== Hazy Maze Cave - Behind the Waterfall 8 Red Coins ================================================== Enter this course as anyone but Wario. Get to the room with Unagi (the seel). In here, get on Unagi's head. You can control the direction he moves in by facing a certain direction. So, if you're facing north, he'll go north. Look around for a platform with a red grating beside it. Make Unagi swim to that grating, then jump to it and enter the door. In here, you will find a metallic liquid pool, just like the one that enters you into this level. Jump in it to enter a secret stage. In here, grab the Wario Cap from one of the platforms. Here is the location of each red coin, and how to get them. 1) With the Wario Cap on, proceed north. You should see a small cave, which holds two red coins. 2) Same as #1. 3) For this one, proceed to the north, to the last platform. Two red coins await you here, too. 4) Same as #3. 5) From the last two, use the Red "?" Block to become metal. Sink to the bottom of the water, where you'll find four red coins around the platform you were just on. 6) Same as #5. 7) Same as #6. 8) Same as #7. Once you collect all the red coins, the star will appear in the water. Become metal (if you aren't already), and grab the star. ================================================== Hazy Maze Cave - Behind the Waterfall Secret Star ================================================== Look at the above directions to see how to get in this secret stage. Make sure you enter as Mario. In there, get to the last platform where you'll find a Red "?" Block. Use it, then float directly up to the star, floating in mid-air. ============================= Under the Moat - 8 Red Coins ============================= The moat must be drained, and you must have Wario first. As Wario, head outside the castle. On the drained moat, head to the east, where you'll see a black block. Break it to reveal a hole. Jump in to enter a secret stage. In here, you will start out on a platform. Below you is a ramp, along with many platforms. There are some red coins in this stage, so here they are. When you slide all the way down the slide, crawl to get back up. 1) This one is at the start. Use the slide to get onto a green platform, where one of them has a red coin. 2) Same as #1. 3) Same as #2. 4) Same as #3. 5) After the first four, proceed through the rest of the level. The next two are on the second tilting bridge you come across. 6) Same as #5. 7) After the last two, you'll find this one in the air, on the platforms that move in the air. 8) This one is at the end of the level, at the dead end. After you get all the coins, the star will appear at the end in a cage. Use the Luigi Cap, and the nearby Red "?" Block at the end to become invisible. Walk into the cage, and grab the star. ============================= Under the Moat - Switch Star ============================= Enter the secret stage again. See above for specific directions on getting there. Grab the Mario Cap, then hit the Red "?" Block at the bottom of the slide. As a balloon, float to the northwestern corner, to a small ledge. Deflate, and press the nearby switch. Quickly get the nearby Red "?" Block, then float up the series of walls, to the glass ball. Break the glass and obtain the star. ====================== Toad's 1st Power Star ====================== Go to the room where Hazy Maze Cave is. In the corner of the liquid pool, you'll see a Toad. Talk to him to get a Power Star from him. ===================================== Bowser in the Fire Sea - 8 Red Coins ===================================== Here are the locations of each red coin, and how to get them. 1) From the start, make it to the platform with all the Bullies. Then, run up the grating platform, where you'll find this red coin in the air, above a hole. 2) When you reach the tilting platform, this red coin is on the right side, at the very edge. 3) From #2, climb the pole to the next platform. You will find this red coin in the topright corner. 4) From #3, activate the nearby elevator, but quickly hop off. Jump into the now revealed hole, grabbing the red coin along the way. 5) From #4, make your way to the elevator again, and use it. Keep going until you see a steep hill. Run up the hill, and take a right. On board that platform is a red coin. 6) After #5, make your way to the moving platform (the one that goes in a zig zag direction). You should see a shadow of a small circle. Wait until the platform rises, then jump to get this coin. 7) Continuing from #6, this one is to the left of the flamethrower, on the series of the sinking blue platforms. 8) At the very end, use the last pole, and climb it to the top to get this red coin. Once you collect them all, the star will appear on a high ledge near #8. Make your way to that ledge, and collect the star. ===================================== Bowser in the Fire Sea - Switch Star ===================================== Make your way to the end of the level, and make sure you're Luigi. Backflip across the series of platforms, where you'll find the switch. Press it and a star will appear in the glass bubble. Make your way over there, and then grab the star. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================== Top Floor Secrets ================== The rest half of your secret stars are here. I will list where they are, and how to obtain them. ============================== The Mirror Room - Secret Star ============================== As Luigi, head to the room on the top floor where Snowman's Land is located. From there, grab a Power Flower off the pillar, then go through the mirror. Instead of taking the path to the Chief Chilly Challenge stage, go north, where you'll find a door. Open it to find a star inside. ===================================== Chief Chilly Challenge - 8 Red Coins ===================================== Another 8 Red Coin secret star. Here is how to get them, and their locations. 1) On the first moving platform, the red coin is there. Grab it along the way. 2) When you come across a path split, take the path to the right. The wind will push you in the air, where this red coin is floating in the middle of many other normal coins. 3) From #2, this one is by the icy pond. 4) From #3, jump across the fence. Avoid the Bullies, and grab the coin sitting in mid-air. 5) In the area with many moving ice platforms, one of them has a red coin. Jump up to get it. 6) Same as #5. 7) As Luigi, make your way to the top. Use the nearby Red "?" Block to become invisible, then drop down. Walk through the cage, where you'll find this one. 8) With Mario, use the Red "?" Block at the end. Float all the way to the left, where you'll find a lone platform in the air. Deflate, and grab this red coin. Just use the nearby Red "?" Block to get back on course. After you get all the coins, the star will appear on a ledge near the end. Run over there and grab it. ===================================== Chief Chilly Challenge - Secret Star ===================================== When you come across the Wario Cap, grab it. When you come to a split path, take the Power Flower from the nearby Red "?" Block. Then, take the left path, running through the wind gusts. Break the black block to get this star. =============================== Over the Rainbow - 8 Red Coins =============================== To enter this secret stage, enter the last room on the top floor (the room with Tick Tock Clock and Rainbow Ride). Enter the alcove to the left; use a triple jump to get up there. Jump into the hole to enter a secret stage. You must enter this stage as Mario. Here is how to get all the 8 Red Coins in the level. Make sure you open the cannon on the small pink platform. 1) From the start, grab this red coin off of the cloud. 2) Use the Wingcap from the nearby Red "?" Block to grow wings. Begin flying, landing on several platforms holding red coins. You will also have to use the cannon to reach certain ones, like the ones by a bunch of poles, and on top of the platform with the poles. 3) Same as #2. 4) Same as #3. 5) Same as #4. 6) Same as #5. 7) Same as #6. 8) Same as #7. After you collect all the coins, the star will appear on a big cloud. Fly to that spot and collect the star. =============================== Over the Rainbow - Secret Star =============================== First, get Mario, and head to the room with Tick Tock Clock and Rainbow Ride, on the top floor. Head to the left, and triple jump into the alcove in the wall. From there, go north and jump into the hole to enter this secret stage. Now, at the start, break the Red "?" Block and grab the Feather to grow wings. Fly around the area (triple jump to begin your flight), and look on the Touch Screen for a Wario Cap. Fly to the Wario Cap on the Touch Screen, then land on the small platform at the bottom. Grab the Wario Cap, and talk to the nearby pink Bob-Omb you'll find. He'll open the nearby cannon for you, so hop in, and look around for a tree. Aim at the tree, then shoot. You'll grab onto the tree, so slide down, and punch the nearby black brick to reveal a star! Grab it, and it's yours. ====================== Toad's 2nd Power Star ====================== For this one, go to the room where you can find Wet-Dry World and Tall, Tall Mountain. Around the area with the stairs leading to the 50-Star-Door is a Toad. Talk to him to recieve this star. ====================== Toad's 3rd Power Star ====================== For the last star from Toad, head to the last room on the top floor. There is a Toad near the alcove leading to Rainbow Ride. Speak with him to get this last star from him. ================================ Bowser in the Sky - 8 Red Coins ================================ This is yet another red coin secret star. Here is the location of each one, and how to obtain them. 1) For this red coin, get to where the tilting platform is. Nearby is a block. Push that block towards the left, then jump on it, and get the red coin. 2) Continue on with the level, then when you get to the spinning platform, jump to the next ledge. This red coin is in the corner. 3) From #2, drop off from the tilting bridge nearby. Now, walk to the right, and you should see a very small platform with a red coin on it. 4) In the area where you run up the grey platform (where all the flamethrowers are at), the red coin is at the edge of that platform. 5) On the moving platform that takes you north, you will find this red coin on a ledge that makes you slide, so be careful while grabbing it. 6) From #5, continue on with the moving platform. When it comes to an end, jump onto the spinning platforms. On the first one, you will find the red coin sitting by that thing in the middle of the platform. 7) From #6. continue on with the level until you come across a pole. Climb it to the top, then jump. On here, go north, and jump onto the next pole. Climb it until you handstand to collect this coin. 8) This one can be very easily missed. It is right behind the platform with the pipe leading to the final Bowser. Collect it. After you get all the coins, the star will appear behind the pipe. Grab it as yours to keep! ================================ Bowser in the Sky - Switch Star ================================ For this star, make your way to the first tilting bridge. From there, drop down and look nearby for a switch. Press it, and quickly make your way back up, then backtrack to the north, and onto the spinning platform, where the glass ball is. Break it to get the star. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ================ IX. Versus Mode ================ NOTE: You and your partner(s) must be within 100 feet of each other in order to obtain a secure and good connection. You must have two or more DSes to play Versus Mode, and at least one Super Mario 64 DS cartridge. The one with the Super Mario 64 DS Cartridge inside his or her DS must turn the power on. Load up the game, and select "VS". Now, the other players must turn their DS on, and go to "Download Play" at the startup screen. When the DS finishes downloading nearby data, select the "Super Mario 64 DS" icon that appears onscreen. The game will load (even if you have nothing inside your DS), and you will have a certain color Yoshi, depending on what number player you are. First player is a green Yoshi, second player is a red Yoshi, third player...I'm not sure about, but I'm pretty sure fourth is blue. If you know the color of the third player Yoshi, then please email me and I will list it here as soon as I have the time. When you are ready, press the icon on the Touch Screen to start the match. There are four levels. They are, in this order: Castle Grounds Princess' Secret Slide Sunshine Isle The Secret of Battle Fort The object of Versus Mode is to obtain as many stars as possible before the timer runs out. The stars are spreaded throughout the level, as are character caps that lets you transform into a specific character. You can knock a star or a hat off of a player, and collect them for yourself. You can also play by yourself, but it's no fun unless you want to get on the castle using a certain trick with a certain character. On the castle of Castle Grounds, there is nothing there. The fence is gone, and you can walk through most of it. And, it is as slippery as ever there. Whether it be with two, three or four players, enjoy Versus Mode! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ================================ X. Secrets, Tricks and Glitches ================================ I will give the secrets, tricks and glitches a seperate section. There are tons of cool stuff to do in this game, so read away! ======== Secrets ======== Secret #1 - The Three 1-Up Mushrooms Outside of the Castle ---------------------------------------------------------- For this, head outside the castle. Now, you must get on top of the castle. You must have either all 150 Stars, or use a trick to get up there. Scroll down to the Tricks section if you want to use a trick. Either way, once you get on top of the castle, you will find three 1-Ups that a fence is surrounding, and you will also find a Red "?" Block for you to play around with. Secret #2 - Easy Five Coins --------------------------- This only works in the 15 Courses that have stakes in them (those brown logs sticking up from the ground). Run around those five times, and five coins will sputter out from the stake. This is especially useful for 100 Coin Stars. Secret #3 - Fat Penguin in Cool, Cool Mountain ---------------------------------------------- After collecting all 150 Stars, head back to Cool, Cool Mountain. Enter the chimney, and you'll find out that the penguin is now huge. She is also faster this time, too, so beware! However, she will not give you anything even if you beat her at the race. Secret #4 - Missing Characters in the Ending Sequence ----------------------------------------------------- If you defeat the final Bowser at Bowser in the Sky with Mario as the only character unlocked, you will notice during the ending that only Yoshi and Mario will be placed on the cake. The other heroes are captured, so they can't be put on the cake. Secret #5 - Make Square Eggs as Yoshi ------------------------------------- Enter any course that has a square box in it (such as Hazy Maze Cave). Now, get to where the square box is, and eat it. Press R, and Yoshi will now hatch a square egg instead of the normal circle ones! However, this egg does nothing different than that of the normal egg. Secret #6 - Bob-Omb Battlefield Warp #1 --------------------------------------- In the area after the first tilted bridge (when you pass the Chain Chomp), head to the topleft corner. Stand in the middle of that flower bed, and you'll be warped near the mountain. Secret #7 - Bob-Omb Battlefield Warp #2 --------------------------------------- Half way up the summit, you will notice an alcove that all the boulders are falling from. Stand in that alcove, and you'll be warped to the top of the mountain. This is a good shortcut, but you cannot use it for the second star of the level, as it is considered cheating. Secret #8 - Shortcut in the slide at Cool, Cool Mountain -------------------------------------------------------- Once you are half way down the slide, you will notice a line of coins pointing at the wall. Follow the path of coins, and you'll enter through a fake wall, into a tunnel area. You will be spit out at the end of the slide. If you use this to beat the big penguin, you will not obtain the star from her. Secret #9 - Cool, Cool Mountain Warp ------------------------------------ At the start of the level, turn around. You will notice a broken bridge. Stand on the edge of that bridge to be warped inside a cave-like thing at the bottom. This is a shortcut to the mother penguin. However, the baby penguin does not warp with you, so you still have to get the star the normal way. Secret #10 - Destroying the Tox Boxes in Shifting Sand Land ----------------------------------------------------------- Yes, you CAN destroy those annoying little stomping boxes in the maze! To do so, however, you must be Wario. With Wario, wait until the Tox Box is about to stomp with the hole in it. Once you are inside the Tox Box, punch. You will send it flying, and it will break. Neat little trick! Secret #11 - Control the speed in Tick Tock Clock ------------------------------------------------- If you enter the level when the clock is at three o' clock, the objects in the level will be at a slow speed. If you enter at six o' clock, the objects will be at medium speed. If you enter it at nine o' clock, the objects will be at a fast speed. Lastly, if you enter at twelve o' clock, the objects in the level will be completely stopped. Secret #12 - Refilling your Health Meter ---------------------------------------- When you are damaged, simply dive in some water, and rise to the surface. Your health meter will slowly regain itself. Alternately, you can collect coins spreaded throughout the castle and the levels. They also refill your health. Secret #13 - Easy Extra Lives ----------------------------- For this, enter Hazy Maze Cave. Go into the toxic maze, and as any character, look around for a red block (not the "?" Block). Punch it for a Mushroom to appear. Grab the mushroom, and head to the Monty Moles. Run over ten of them, and an extra live will appear. Repeat the same process. This also works as a normal character, but it is harder to do, as they will hit you. Secret #14 - Getting all Glowing Rabbits using the Easy Method -------------------------------------------------------------- To do this, get Yoshi out as your character. Then, head outside the castle. There will be three rabbits by the bridge, along with several other ones speaded around the area. Examine all the rabbits, and see if they are glowing. Whether they are or not, repeat the same process until you have all the rabbits that you needed to catch. Secret #15 - Lethal Lava Land Warp ---------------------------------- For this, cross the first bridge in the level. Then, take a turn to the left. You will notice an eye enemy. Make his eye notice you, then begin running around until it explodes. Fall into the hole it was guarding, and stand there. You will be warped to a Red "?" Block on a lone platform. Secret #16 - Different Text after defeating the Final Bowser ------------------------------------------------------------ If you defeat Bowser with 150 Stars, Bowser will say something different when you defeat him before he drops his star. Nothing special, but just a little easter egg that Nintendo threw in SM64 and this game. Secret #17 - Shifting Sand Land Warp ------------------------------------ Near the oasis, you will see a tree. Stand under that tree, and you'll be warped to the cannon in the Tox Box Maze. You can also warp back to the oasis using this trick. Secret #18 - Snowman's Land Warp -------------------------------- In the area with a small fence with a fireplace and some Goombas inside, stand under the tree closest to that fence. You will be warped to the freezing pond. Secret #19 - Tall, Tall Mountain Warp ------------------------------------- In the area with the mushrooms and red coins, you will see two small mushrooms. Stand on the second one, and you will be warped to the cannon. This is the only way to reach the cannon in this level. Secret #20 - Rainbow Ride Warp ------------------------------ At the entrance of the mansion, jump onto the brown bridge. In between the bridge and the house, you will be warped on top of the Red Coin Maze. However, be careful, for there are gusty winds that will blow you off the top. At the end is a yellow block containing a 1-Up Mushroom. Secret #21 - Walk on Lava in Lethal Lava Land --------------------------------------------- You must be Wario for this. Use the warp to be warped to an island with a Red "?" Block. Use it to become metal. While metal, you can run around on the fire without getting hurt (funny; I've always heard fire melts metal). If you stand, the fire will act as quicksand, sinking you into the lava. Secret #22 - Wet-Dry World Warp ------------------------------- With the water level as low as it can be, get into the topright corner of the brown structure (the one you climb up to the top). You will be warped to a ledge with the cannon. Secret #23 - Whomp's Fortress Warp ---------------------------------- In the area where you find all the blue Thwomps, stand in the corner near the Red "?" Block. You will be warped near the top of the fortress, by a fence. ======= Tricks ======= Trick #1 - Getting on the Castle Top Without 150 Stars - Yoshi Method --------------------------------------------------------------------- To do this, first get out Yoshi (duh). Now, head outside the castle, and go to the waterfall to the left of the entrance. Next to the waterfall and the green hill is a tree. Jump on the tree, and have Yoshi's back facing the green hill. Jump, then do a flutter kick, and make sure Yoshi does not slide on his belly. Then, jump, and flutter kick onto the waterfall, and repeat until you get over to the next green hill. Slide down onto a small green ledge. Now, have your back facing the green hill, then do the flutter kick process. Keep flutter kicking until you reach the top of the hill, where you can stand. From there, jump onto the roof of the castle. Congratulations! Trick #2 - Getting on the Castle Top Without 150 Stars - Mario Method --------------------------------------------------------------------- As Mario, head to the right side of the entrance, across the bridge. There, take a left to the hill leading down to the moat. Next to it are two walls that are next to each other. The one on the right is the one you'll want to begin wall jumping from. The one that is just north of the hill, in other words. Begin wall jumping from that wall, then to the one on the left, then to the one on the right. Repeat until you make it to the top! Trick #3 - Getting on the Castle Top Without 150 Stars - Luigi Method --------------------------------------------------------------------- With Luigi, head to the same area as you did with Yoshi. Instead of jumping on the tree, overlook to the north of the fence. You'll see a green platform. We are going to have to get on that platform. Have your back facing the fence, and the green platform, and perform a backflip. Copter spin over to the ledge, then have your back facing the green hill. Jump, and perform a scuttle. Right when you land, scuttle again and hold up, then scuttle again right when you land. Repeat until you make it to the top where you can stand. From there, jump onto the top of the castle! Trick #4 - Getting on the Castle Top Without 150 Stars - Wario Method --------------------------------------------------------------------- As Wario, head east across the brown bridge outside the castle. Continue to the north until you come to a green hill. Find the tree closest to the hill, but do not jump on it. Instead, start doing a double jump onto the hill, then begin doing a slidekick. Continue the endless cycle of slidekicks, and do it very fast. Eventually, you should make it to the top of the castle! Trick #5 - Getting on the Castle Top Without 150 Stars - All Characters Method ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Do the same trick as the Wario Method, only do it with a different character. This method works with every character, though I recommend doing their seperate methods, as it is easier. ========= Glitches ========= NOTE: These glitches that are listed below DO NOT work with Version Two of Super Mario 64 DS. Nearly all of them ONLY WORK WITH Version One, while only a couple of others work with PAL (also known as Version 1.5). To test what version of the game you have, perform the "Freeze the game with Klepto" glitch. To find it, scroll down below. With that said, here is a list of the glitches. Glitch #1 - Messed Up Movement Outside of the Castle ---------------------------------------------------- To start this glitch off, get Yoshi. Then, head outside the castle. This is the tricky part. You must lure the rabbit near a cliff that leads into water. Then, you have to jump, and eat the rabbit, landing in the water at the same time. You will now be swimming with a rabbit in your mouth! Now, swim to the beach area, and swim to the yellow steep hill. You will begin spitting the rabbit out, but you will touch the water, as well. From then on, you cannot move or jump, and you will just be stuck. After awhile, you should be able to jump a little bit more. Glitch #2 - Freeze the game with Klepto --------------------------------------- NOTE: Do this glitch if you wish to find out what version of this game you have. Although, as far as I know, this dosen't tell if you have PAL or not. For this glitch, get Yoshi. As Yoshi, head into the Shifting Sand Land course. Now, grab the Mario Cap, and head to the area with two pillars. Pick up the box you see, then let Klepto steal your cap. You will drop the box. If the game freezes, you have Version One. If it dosen't, you have Version Two. Glitch #3 - Walk Underwater in Dire, Dire Docks ----------------------------------------------- You MUST have Version One to do this glitch, and you must have NOT completed the first star "Board Bowser's Sub". Head to the level as any character. Now, head to the main area where the sub is located. There, swim under the two things sticking out towards the end of the sub. They look like rectangles. Now, swim under one of them, and then try surfacing and jumping. You will notice that you will be able to jump, but immediately land in the water. Right when you jump, press R in the air. You will do a ground pound. Repeat this process, and eventually you'll fall underwater! Swordless Link says: It's harder to do on V2. It is possible, though. I've done it many times. In V1, all you have to do is swim under it, jump, and pound. In V2, you have to angle yourself at the side, and jump so that you'll end up under it, then pound. It is much harder in V2, though. Glitch #4 - Heaven's Portal in Bob-Omb Battlefield #1 ----------------------------------------------------- The cannon must be opened before attempting this glitch. If the cannon is opened, then head to the left part of the level, where the falling bubbles are. Now, head left in that area, and hop into the cannon. Aim so that the top of the cursor on the cannon is touching the sun, but make sure the bottom one is touching the cloud (I THINK this is correct). Now, shoot, and hold up. Your character should hit the fence, then be sent flying 1,000 feet in the air! Now you can move around, and even go OUT OF THE LEVEL BOUNDARIES! There are two more that I will list below. If you go out of boundaries, however, you will eventually fall and die. Glitch #5 - Heaven's Portal in Bob-Omb Battlefield #2 ----------------------------------------------------- To do this one, head north from the start, and cross the first bridge. In that area, you'll see a Koopa Troopa (depending on what star you're on). Run up the grey-like hill, and enter the cannon. Aim the crosshair on the fence below the island, and make sure one is on the bottom. Aim to the right a bit, and shoot. If done correctly, you will vanish into the sky for a short time, but appear back really soon. Glitch #7 - Heaven's Portal in Bob-Omb Battlefield #3 ----------------------------------------------------- For this one, begin climbing up the summit. About half way up, you will see a tree, a Goomba, a box and a cannon. Jump into the cannon. Aim all the way down, and a little over to the right. Shoot. It's hard to explain, but if you did it right, you will be out of the level boundaries, and never land. Press A, R or B to exit it. Glitch #8 - Flood Tall Tall Mountain ------------------------------------ For this glitch, you must select a star that has the owl when you climb up the tree in the beggining of the level. While on the owl, fly to the top of the mountain. Begin climbing down the mountain, and collect the five coins off of the grey bridge. From there, drop off the mountain back to the start of the level. Now, get to the area where the mushrooms are. Hop onto the second smallest mushroom to teleport to a secret area. If you did it right, you should now be swimming! You can swim almost up the entire mountain. If you jump, however, Tall Tall Mountain will be back to normal. Glitch #9 - Walk On Water in Jolly Roger Bay -------------------------------------------- Head into Jolly Roger Bay as Yoshi. Now, grab a Luigi Cap, and go to where you start. Lure one of the Goombas to the water, and then get hit by it. Now, you must immediately run onto the water, but stop. You will be standing. If you do not stop, you must press A constantly while on the water. Glitch #10 - Walk Underwater in Jolly Roger Bay ----------------------------------------------- Select Star #1 for this. You must also be Wario to perform this glitch. As Wario, head into the cave area and get the Power Flower. While Metal, quickly long jump out of the cave, and onto the sunken ship. Walk to the tip of the ship, and when your Power Flower runs out, you will be able to walk underwater. Glitch #11 - Through the Fence in Whomp's Fortress -------------------------------------------------- Go into the area with the Bullet Bill Shooting Machine. In the corner, have your back facing the wall, and backflip. You should go through the fence. Pointless, but still a glitch. Glitch #12 - Freeze Mario in Tall Tall Mountain ----------------------------------------------- This will ONLY work in Version One. Now, as Mario, use the owl to get to the top of the mountain. Get the wings from the Red "?" Block, and drop down to where Ukiki is located. Grab him, then head across the brown log. When you are by the brown stake, drop Ukiki and pound it to the ground. A mushroom will come out. Pick Ukiki up, then get the mushroom. Your character will be completely frozen, and you cannot move at all. You can't even move the camera! Glitch #13 - Capless Power Flowers ---------------------------------- As Yoshi, enter the level and grab any character cap. Head to the top of the mountain, and grab the Power Flower. Drop down to Ukiki, and pick him up. If you are Wario, stand under the water until his Power Flower runs out. If you are any other character, wait until the power is about to diminish. Then, jump into the water. You will lose your cap, Ukiki, and the power. Now, go back down and grab the owl, and head to the summit. Grab a Power Flower again. If you are Mario, you will have wings growing from your head. If you are Luigi, you'll be half-invisible. If you are Wario, the game will immediately freeze when you touch the Power Flower. Glitch #14 - Out of Boundaries Outside the Castle ------------------------------------------------- Using this glitch, you can reach the very top of the castle tower, and go out of the boundaries of the castle. To do it, head outside as Mario. Get on top of the castle roof. Grab the Power Flower, and fly towards the lake. Fly down, and move up a bit to gain speed. The wall will force you up. After you practice for awhile, you should eventually bypass the invisible wall, and go out of the boundaries! From here, you can fly around, or to the top of the castle tower. Glitch #15 - Infinite Coins in Cool, Cool Mountain -------------------------------------------------- Simply enter the chimney, and go down the slide. Collect the coins on the way. When you exit, kill the three Goombas to the left, then use the warp to reach the top. Rinse and repeat. You can only hold up to a maximum of 255 coins. Glitch #16 - Infinite Stars in Multiplayer Mode ----------------------------------------------- For this, you must be Wario in Multiplayer Mode. This glitch will work in any level. If your opponent has a star, then try and pick him up by running up to him, and pressing A. Throw him, and grab the star s/he drops. Pick him/her up again, and ground pound with the opponent in your hands. S/he will drop another star. Rinse and repeat as many times as wanted. Glitch #17 - Walk Underwater in Wet-Dry World --------------------------------------------- You must first set the water level so that the grey ramps edge at the start of the level is covered by water, but only by a LITTLE bit. Now, as any character, swim under the ramp, and jump. Continue jumping until you get bumped under the water. You can now freely walk! An alternate strategy by Swordless Link: Read Glitch #2, and read the alternate strategy for V2. It works the same way for this glitch with V2, as well, only you do not ground pound. Glitch #18 - Walk Underwater Outside of the Castle -------------------------------------------------- This glitch is required to do a certain (homemade) quest. As any character, the moat must NOT yet be drained. Now, do a trick to get on top of the castle, then get onto that green platform thing. Now, look down from the hill. Perform a slidekick down the hill, and hold up. Make sure you fall down to the wall of the castle. If done correctly, you will be bumped into the wall, and fall under the water. Now you can walk freely underwater! You can also open the basement door with zero stars, and skip opening the front door! Glitch #19 - Ghost Rabbit ------------------------- Go to the castle courtyard as Wario. Outside, you will find a rabbit. Lure a Boo so that it is behind you, and the rabbit is in front of you. Catch the rabbit, and the Boo will hit you as you catch the rabbit. The rabbit will now be stuck, and you can walk through it. Glitch #20 - Freeze Yoshi in Tall Tall Mountain ----------------------------------------------- You must be quick towards the end of this glitch for this to work. Grab a Wario cap, and go to the top of the summit. Get the Power Flower and then go to Ukiki. Pick him up, and walk under the water. Make sure you are next to the waterfall. Now, when the Power Flower runs out, quickly drop down the ledge, and climb up the tree at the start. When the owl comes out, get on him and fly to Ukiki, then fly to the stake across the wooden log. Quickly ground pound it, and get the Super Mushroom that comes out. You will be completely frozen, and can't even move the camera. Glitch #21 - Hat on Feet in Wet-Dry World ----------------------------------------- This is a V1 exclusive glitch. Look on the Touch Screen, and get up to the area where the Wario Cap is. Lure the Goomba to the edge of the platform, and stomp on it. When it explodes, it will drop the cap. However, don't grab it. Instead, drop onto the ledge, and hang on. Make your way over to the Wario Cap while you are hanging on the ledge, and then the Wario Cap will appear on your feet! Glitch #22 - Keep Yoshi's tounge out in Cool, Cool Mountain ----------------------------------------------------------- From the start of the level, lure the baby penguin over to the fireplace. When you do, backwards flutter kick into the flame, but before you hit the flame, press A to eat the penguin. You'll hit the fire, and your tounge will be stuck out. Press A to fix it back to normal. Glitch #23 - Keep Yoshi's tounge out in Tall Tall Mountain #1 ------------------------------------------------------------- Get Ukiki onto the square bit of land across from where you find him. Get it so that he's on the sloped part, just before it touches the water. Jump across, then face him, and jump at him, and lick him. (just like you do in the courtyard with the Boos). Your tongue will be stuck out until you press A. Glitch #24 - Keep Yoshi's tounge out in Tall Tall Mountain #2 ------------------------------------------------------------- Get to Ukiki, and let the Shyguy shoot a flame at you. Before it hits you, lick Ukiki. Your tongue will be stuck out, until you press A. Note that this is probably the most difficult of the three methods, but can still be done. Glitch #25 - Keep Yoshi's tounge out in Jolly Roger Bay ------------------------------------------------------- As Yoshi, swim through the underwater tunnel behind the ship. There should be a Goomba wearing a Wario cap, and walking under a pillar. Walk up to him, and the pillar should fall. Lick him but time it so that the hat is reaching your mouth as the pillar hits you. This can be very hard to time correctly. If you do it right, your tongue should be stuck out, until you press A. Note that it will only be out a little bit. Also note that I heard this glitch was only done in the PAL Version, but should be possible in every other version. Glitch #26 - Keep Yoshi's tounge out in Bob-Omb Battlefield ----------------------------------------------------------- Go to BOB as Yoshi, and choose a star where the Koopa will be there. Lick him and carry him to the other side of the cannon. If you keep him in your mouth too long, he'll turn into an egg, so keep spitting him out then licking him up again. When he's at the other side of the cannon, spit him out and chase him. He'll run into the cannon, but won't move up it. Jump on him, move back, and lick him. Yoshi will be riding the shell with his tongue stuck out and crashing the shell will cause the game to freeze, or cause him to put his tongue back in his mouth, and turn the koopa into an egg. Glitch #27 - Run around with Yoshi's tounge out in Bob-Omb Battlefield and THI ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ NOTE: THI is Tiny Huge Island. Normally when you do the tongue glitches in those two levels and crash, the game will feeze, or Yoshi will produce an egg. But there is a way to run around with your tounge out. All you have to do is crash into the large black balls that roll down the mountain. This works in both of the levels, and pressing A will cause him to put his tongue back in his mouth. Extra Note: You can do the tounge glitch in THI just like you did in BOB, only this time you must lead the Koopa up the hill. Glitch #28 - Wear a hat on your feet in Shifting Sand Land ---------------------------------------------------------- As Yoshi, go to the ? Block near the Wario Goomba. Kill it and quickly break the ? Block from below. Eat the cap as the Power Flower touches you. You will be fire-breathing Yoshi with a Wario cap on your feet. Getting any other cap will remove it, so unfortunately, the Klepto Freeze glitch can't work with it. Glitch #29 - Keep the penguin in your mouth at Cool, Cool Mountain ------------------------------------------------------------------ This has the same effects as the glitch which allows you to keep Ukiki in your mouth in TTM, but this glitch works in every version, not just version 1. Chase the penguin from the start of the level over to the edge of the cliff, run up to him from behind and lick him. You should fall off the edge with your mouth full, and can explore the whole level with the penguin in your mouth. Pressing A will cause him to do the spitting animation, yet he'll spit nothing out. And going into the area you found him in causes him to appear out of nowhere and give his speech. This can also be done with the penguin at the bottom of the level. Chase him over to the cannon, run and lick him up, and land in the cannon with your mouth full. Shoot up to the higher land, and now you can explore the level with that penguin in your mouth. Glitch #30 - Easy Extra Lives in Whomp's Fortress ------------------------------------------------- NOTE: This is a V1 Exclusive glitch. Select any star after Star #1, so that the fortress will be there. Now, head to the area with the Whomp's. Nearby is a Red "?" Block, along with two red boxes. Break the two red boxes to find a Super Mushroom. Get the mushroom, and go into the corner. You will warp to the fortress. Jump over the fence, then try and jump on the ledge with the fortress. Keep trying until you get up there, then go to the left side of the platform. Knock over the plank by running into it, and your extra lives will dramatically increase until the mushroom's power runs out. Neat glitch, I say. Glitch #31 - Stop Whomp's Fortress Music ---------------------------------------- I never really tried this myself, but someone wrote how he did it. Swordless Link says: I was in WF, and I had done the 100 lives glitch. I was at the right side of the plank, and was walking on top of it. I very slowly walked to the left, and when I shrunk, there was no music! Every other sound was working, but there was no music. I also done this in BOB, and when I done it in TTM, the music didn't turn off, but changed to that of RR! I have never been ale to do any of the music glitches again, so they may be random. Glitch #32 - Cap on your feet in Hazy Maze Cave ----------------------------------------------- Choose Star #1, and go down to the big swimming seel with the Wario hat on. Jump up so you hit the hat, but don't land on his head. You'll fall into the water with the hat on your feet. Glitch #33 - Keep Yoshi's tounge out on the Basement Floor ---------------------------------------------------------- Go to the basement, through entering the door with the keyhole (not through the drained moat) as Yoshi. Pass through the tunnel, and as soon as you come out of the door, you will see two blue flames above your head. Position yourself so that you're facing the right flame with your back to the left one. Jump, and flutter backwards into the left flame, but before touching it, try to lick the right one. Your tongue will be stuck out until you press A, which will cause him to breathe fire once, and put it back in his mouth. Glitch #34 - Keep Yoshi's tounge out in Lethal Lava Land -------------------------------------------------------- Near the 8 Red Coin Puzzle, there is a Power Flower box. Open it, and backwards flutter jump into the lava, but stick your tongue out on the way down. If you timed it right, you should hit the lava with your tongue out. Now when you bounce from the lava, don't touch the power flower, but land past it. The Power Flower music will start, but you'll have your tongue out, so your mouth won't be full. If at any time after getting his tongue to stick out, pressing A will result in him putting it back in his mouth. Glitch #35 - Freeze the game in Lethal Lava Land ------------------------------------------------ Do the "Keep your tongue out in LLL" glitch, but when you bounce up from the lava, land straight in the Power Flower. The game will freeze. I think it freezes because normally, when you land after doing the glitch, the Power Flower music starts, so the game thinks you have a Power Flower in your mouth, even though you can see the one the game thinks you already have. Because you land in it, I think you're actually getting two Power Flowers at the same time, and game doesn't know what to do, so it freezes. Glitch #36 - Send an egg flying in Tall Tall Mountain ----------------------------------------------------- Go to the grassy area where you can't jump high and the Goombas are. Kill all of them except for one and turn the last one into an egg. Jump onto the ledge to the left of the grassy area with the fence and face towards the grassy area. Jump and shoot an egg and Yoshi will turn towards the fence and shoot an egg far into the distance. Glitch #37 - Make Silver Stars disappear from Snowman's Land ------------------------------------------------------------ In Snowman's Land, select the star that makes you collect the silver stars. When you grab one, get hit to lose it. Once you lose it, enter the igloo, and exit it. The silver star will disappear from the level. Glitch #38 - Neverending Crouch ------------------------------- Go inside the castle, on the main floor. Stand on the ledge above the One Star Door that leads to the character changing room, then crouch. You will never stop crouching, even if you let go of R. Glitch #39 - Weirdness in Goomboss Battle ----------------------------------------- I've never even heard of this glitch, but someone wrote how this happened. rom_maniac says: My brother was fighting the Goomboss as Yoshi. He came up to me after he defeated him and showed me the screen. There were 3 non-solid flashing things around the battle arena that wouldn't disappear. They were what appears when there is a collision between objects. He said that they appeared every time he hit Goomboss. The same thing happened again when I exited the level and went back in. It didn't work on regular enemies and it didn't work on Big Bob-omb, so I think that it's only Goomboss. I also tried it with Luigi and it worked. When I switched off my DS it didn't work again. Glitch #40 - Keep Yoshi's tounge out and freeze the game in Lethal Lava Land #2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Go to LLL as Yoshi, and choose the last star. Go over to the box with the shell inside it, and break it open. Now, backwards flutter jump into the lava, but as you descend, lick the shell. You will hit the lava with your tongue stuck out, and when you touch land, the game will freeze. If you land on the shell after hitting the lava, then you can rida around on it, and when you crash the game will freeze. Glitch #41 - Mess up Ukiki in Tall Tall Mountain ------------------------------------------------ Go to TTM as Wario (this probably works with everyone except Yoshi, but I used Wario). Get up to Ukiki, and pick him up. He'll take your hat. Now carefully and slowly chase him to the edge of the platform. Wait until the shyguy throws fire at you, and just as it hits you, pick Ukiki up. You'll hear the little sound that you'd hear when you get your hat back, but you won't have it! Pick him up again, and he'll give the speech he usually gives when he's returning your hat, yet you still won't get the hat. Pick him up again and you'll be able to carry him around the whole level. He won't try to take your hat, because you're not wearing one, and he can't give you your hat back, because he doesn't have it, so now you can take Ukiki around the whole of TTM as any character, and not just Yoshi. Glitch #42 - Hat on your feet in Tall Tall Mountain --------------------------------------------------- Go to TTM as Wario. (It may not matter which character you go as, as long as it's not Yoshi. I went as Wario) Find a Mario or Luigi hat (doesn't matter which one you take), and get to Ukiki. Pick him up so he takes the hat. Now, slowly and carefully, chase him over to the water edge. He should keep running against the edge, and as long as you don't make any sudden movements (sprinting, jumping), he'll stay there. Stand behind him, and wait for the shy guy to shoot fire at you. You have to pick Ukiki up as the flame touches you, not before, not after. When you're on fire, quickly run into the water. When you get there, Ukiki will give his speech, and you'll get your hat back while you're in the water, so it will be on your feet. If you get the super mushroom while it's on your feet, then you will grow, but the hat on your feet will stay the same size. Glitch #43 - Keep Yoshi's tounge out in the igloo at Snowman's Land ------------------------------------------------------------------- Go to the igloo in SL as Yoshi. In the back left corner, there is a Power Flower box. Break it open, then backwards flutter jump into the water, but before you touch the water, press A to lick the power flower. You should hit the water while your tongue is out, and it'll stay out until you press A. Glitch #44 - Freeze the game with a Power Flower as Yoshi --------------------------------------------------------- simply break open a power flower box, and wait for it to run out. Just before it runs out, jump and lick it, and if your timing was right, the game will freeze. Note that this only works in V1. Glitch #45 - Keep Yoshi's tounge out in Hazy Maze Cave ------------------------------------------------------ Go to HMC as Yoshi, and go to the hole which when you fall through, lands you in the toxic maze. In the corner of that room, there are two flames. Jump, and backwards flutter jump into one of them, but before you touch it, press A to lick the other one. You should hit the flame with your tongue out, and it'll stay out until you press A. Glitch #46 - Keep Ukiki in your mouth in Tall Tall Mountain ----------------------------------------------------------- Go to TTM as Yoshi, and get up to Ukiki. Backwards flutter jump into the water, and lick him while you're in the aair. You'll be swimming with your mouth full, and if you swim down the waterfall, and go on land, you'll be able to explore the whole level with him in your mouth. If you go and get the power flower, then he'll dissapear from the level until you re-enter it. Also, if you go into the area you found him in, he'll automatically give his speech and come out of your mouth. Note that this will only work in V1, but I found a way to get it to work in all the versions, which I already posted in. Glitch #47 - Swim without any Water on the Basement Floor --------------------------------------------------------- Go to the basement as Yoshi. Chase the rabbit around to SSL, and jump and eat him. Land right infront of the entrance to SSL, and you'll spit the bunny out, but you'll be merged with him. After his speech, hold up and hammer B, and hopefully, you'll get pushed through the wall, and end up swimming in invisible water. Glitch #48 - Mini-Mega Yoshi in Whomp's Fortress ------------------------------------------------ Go to WF as Yoshi, and choose a star past star 2 (so you have the super mushrooms). Take the Mario or Luigi hat at the start, and go over to the super mushroom on the grass near the pirahna flower. Break the box open to get the super mushroom, then quickly get hit by the pirahna flower, back off so he goes back to sleep, then jump and pound him. His blue coin will appear. Now, you just do the jump and eat the coin and land in the super mushroom procedure, and you'll be small, but act like you're big. Glitch #49 - Fall Through Stairs on the Third Floor --------------------------------------------------- Go to the room with TTC and RR, and climb up the stairs, leading to the endless stairs. Climb up two of the stairs, then run to where the stair meets the wall. Run into it, and slide kick. You'll fall through the wall, and will die. Glitch #50 - Mini-Mega Character in Tall Tall Mountain ------------------------------------------------------ Go to TTM as Wario. (It's possible with anyone, but I always go Wario) Get the Power Flower, then drop down to Ukiki. Pick him up, and walk with him over the wooden log, and place him near the stake with the super mushroom. Wait for the power flower to wear off, then pound the stake. After you've pounded it, Ukiki should be very close to the super mushroom. Now, You have to pick him up, but touch the super mushroom at the same time. This isn't very hard as when you press A to pick him up, you're forced forward a little bit, and will touch the mushroom. The super mushroom music will start, but his little speech will come up at the same time, and when he is done talking, he'll take your hat, and you'll be small, yet act like you're big. Glitch #51 - Keep Yoshi's tounge out in Snowman's Land with no igloo -------------------------------------------------------------------- This is a simple glitch. Go to the three gommbas with the character hats near the start of the level, jump backwards or forwards (whichever best fits where the goombas are) and land in the fire, but before you do, press A to lick one of the hats. You'll hit the fire with your tongue out, but unfortunately, it will only stay out untill your a$$ is no longer on fire, at which point you'll transform into which character's hat you took. Glitch #52 - Merge yourself with Ukiki in Tall Tall Mountain ------------------------------------------------------------ Go to TTM as Yoshi. Choose Star #2, and get to the top of the mountain. Eat the monkey at the top of the mountain, and jump down to where Ukiki is. Jump across to the little island across from Ukiki, and spit out the monkey on the sloped part. Now perform the glitch which keeps Yoshis tongue out, by jumping at him and pressing A just before you hit the water. Your tongue will be stuck out, and if you swim away, you'll notice that the monkey will be frozen, and merged with Yoshi. He'll remain like this until you spit him out. If you get the super mushroom with him merged to you, you'll grow, but he'll stay small. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ============== XI. Item List ============== Here is a complete list of items in this game below. And information on what they do, and what they are. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Coin Description: This golden shiny coin is found in every Mario game. In this game, each time you collect it, you regain health if damaged. You also gain an extra life if you collect fifty of them, and a Power Star if you collect 100 in each of the 15 Courses! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Blue Coin Description: Blue Coins can be found in various levels. You can make them appear by stomping a Blue Coin Switch (it has a picture of a Blue Coin on it). They count as five coins each, and heal five bars of health on your life. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Power Flower Description: This Power Flower can be found in nearly every level. You find it by breaking a Red "?" Block after activating them. It gives Mario the ability to fly and float, it gives Luigi the ability to become invisible, it lets Wario become Metal, allowing him to walk under the water for a short time, and it allows Yoshi to get a mouthful of fire, allowing him to burn any sign or object. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1-Up Mushroom Description: This item is pretty self-explanatory. You find green mushrooms spreaded throughout the level by doing certain things. When you find one of these, it will chase you down. When you grab it, you obtain an extra life. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Red Mushroom Description: These mushrooms are bigger and different than the normal 1-Up Mushrooms. They can be found in red boxes and such, as well as sometimes in stakes. When you grab one, you grow huge, allowing you to be able to run through any enemy or boulder, and destroy it. If you destroy a certain amount of boulders, you gain an extra life! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Red Coin Description: The red coins are found in each of the 15 Courses. They count as three coins when you collect each one, and there are eight in all. When you collect all eight, a Power Star will appear in a certain area of the level. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Power Star Description: These stars are the main reason you go into the courses in this entire game. Bowser stole all the Power Stars, sealing nearly every door in the castle. There are 150 in all. If you collect all of them, the cannon outside the castle will open, and the penguin on Cool, Cool Mountain will get fatter. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Feather Description: Collect this item after breaking a Red "?" Block as Mario. If you do, you will get wings on top of your cap. Then, you can fly around for a limited amount of time. In Versus Mode, if you break a yellow block, you can grow wings with any character. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Character Cap Description: These are in every level. You can find them on top of a Goomba's head, on the floor, etc. Once you collect one, you transform into the character that wears that cap. So, if you grabbed a cap that looked like Mario's, you'd transform into Mario. If you get hit by an enemy while wearing one of these, you lose the cap, and turn back into the character you're currently using. If you don't grab it back in time, it disappears to another part of the level. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Koopa Shell Description: In certain levels, you'll find a Koopa Troopa. If you stomp it, it will lose its shell. You can jump on the shell and ride it around the level. If you bump into something or press R while on the shell, you will lose it. If you wait too long to jump on it, the Koopa Troopa will get it back. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ================================ XII. Frequently Asked Questions ================================ In this section, I will list the most commonly asked questions regarding this game. Before emailing me with a question, please refer to this very section first, and see if your question is already answered! Thank you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Q: How do I unlock [character]? A: Please, read the Walkthrough section, and look carefully. You will find what you are looking for. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Q: How do I make the "?" Blocks solid? A: Again, please refer to the Walkthrough. However, I'll still give you a more in-depth walkthrough on it now. After getting a certain amount of stars (it's around 12-15), go to the main castle lobby. You should see a ray of light appear down in the middle of the room. Stand inside the light, and press X. Look directly up until the screen fades white. You will then be transported to a hidden stage. Step on the huge switch in the middle of the tower in this stage, and viola! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Q: How do I obtain [star] on [course]? A: As I said in the above two questions, refer to the Walkthrough for such information. That's what it is there for. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Q: Is Waluigi obtainable in this game? A: No, no, no, and no. He never was in the game, never will be, and never, ever was even planned to be in the game (unlike Luigi in SM64, which for some reason, they scrapped him out). Please do not email me telling me that you can get Waluigi, and please do not email me asking for a second confirmation on whether or not you can get him. You can't; it's impossible.
