Welcome! ================================================ This is the Sonic Adventure Bosses Guide! Sonic Adventure is the best game I've played in a long time, and really shows off Dreamcast and shows up PlayStation, Nintendo 64, and PC. This game is so fast that it might take you a while to get used to Sonic's speed. If you thought Sonic R was fast, man, are you in for a surprise. This game really brings back the classic 2D Sonic gameplay straight into 3D. Sonic Team did a really beautiful job on this game. This Guide covers all the Bosses in the game and how to beat them all. Enjoy! ================================================ 2. About the Author ================================================ Yo! I'm Nathan Tsui, also known as Segaholic2! I have been playing videogames since the old Mario Brothers and Sonic the Hedgehog, and have finally reached the honor of getting to play the ultimate Sonic Adventure! Sonic the Hedgehog is my favorite videogame character, and seeing him again brings back lots of memories... I first played the Sonic Adventure "Limited Edition" from the Hollywood Video rental exclusive, not the Japanese import version. The "Limited Edition" means that the game is basically the Japanese Sonic Adventure with the voice-acting and text in English, although a few bugs were fixed. However, the "International Version" is the full game with all bugs fixed and extra options thrown in. This is one AWESOME game! If you have any comments, questions, or suggestions, please feel free to send them to Nathan Tsui at segaholic2@yahoo.com. Also e-mail me if you find any errors and I will fix them up in the next version, plus you will get your name in the Credits! E-mail me if you have any info I don't have here and I will give you full credit! ================================================ 3. Sonic the Hedgehog ================================================ Sonic is the main character and hero of this game. He's a care-free attitude-enriched in-your-face blue supersonic hedgehog. He'll joke even in serious situations and doesn't show any fear for anything, except for water, since he can't swim. Chaos, the main enemy of the game, is the physical embodiment of water, therefore Sonic's fight to save the world is against his only fear. As the chorus from his theme, "It Doesn't Matter" says: "It Doesn't Matter now what happens, I will never give up the fight. There is no way I will run away from all of my frights. As long as the voice inside says "Go", I will always keep on running. There is no way to stop me from going to the very top." That is a really awesome heavy-duty storyline, as are all the story- lines in this game! ------------------------------ a. Chaos 0 ------------------------------ Whenever Chaos 0 is standing totally upright and you can see his pink brain, home-attack him. After two hits he will jump onto the light poles. Run around in circles to avoid his arm attacks. When he jumps back down, hit him again quickly to end the fight. Three hits total. ------------------------------ b. Egg Hornet ------------------------------ Run like crazy while Dr. Robotnik shoots missiles at you. When he dashes into the ground, move away, then attack him. He'll repeat the procedure again, this time shooting more missiles. The third time he will launch three volleys of missiles, then charge the ground. Hit him for the last time. Three hits total. ------------------------------ c. Knuckles ------------------------------ Not really a boss, but you will encounter the other characters in a fight occasionally. Run around and hit him when he's standing still. Don't get too close or he'll punch you good! Keep your distance and avoid his gliding attacks. By the way, who else can't stand the way Knuckles says, "Oh no!"? Three strikes and he's...OUTTA THERE! ------------------------------ d. Chaos 4 ------------------------------ Jump from lily-pad to lily-pad. But it really doesn't matter since you take a while to sink into the water, so just keep on jumping. Stay away from Chaos 4 and hit him when he surfaces and sits still in the water. Watch out for his tail whip, since he throws a heat wave at you! Five hits will sink Chaos 4. ------------------------------ e. Egg Carrier's Main Gun ------------------------------ Point the Tornado's target at the Gun and repeatedly shoot the gun. This one's really easy. It doesn't matter if you get hit if you have lots of health left. ------------------------------ f. E-102 'y' ------------------------------ Another character fight! Just run around like crazy and hit him in the back to be safe. Don't stand still or he'll blast you! At the beginning of the fight, E-102 will stand and target you. After the first hit, he'll jump, glide, and target. Lastly he'll roll around and shoot you. One thing I noticed is that E-102's targeting system actually reads Sonic as three to four enemies at the same time! Guess Sonic is faster than (even) I thought. Three hits and it's over. ------------------------------ g. Chaos 6 ------------------------------ Hit the hovering ice-bots Robotnik drops to knock them onto the ground. Pick them up and throw them at Chaos 6 to freeze him. Now run up and hit him. TRICK: To get more distance into your throws, jump and then press (Y). TRICK: Immediately after Chaos 6 gets frozen, charge up a Light-Speed Dash. Run up to Chaos 6 and perform the Light-Speed Attack for double damage! He'll chase you around a lot, and sometimes tail-whip attack. Watch out when he tries to entangle you with his multiple arms! Four regular jump-attacks, or two Light-Speed Attacks will crush this ice-cube. ------------------------------ h. Egg Viper ------------------------------ Keep running to avoid the lasers Dr. Robotnik shoots at you. After that he'll gloat at you. Home-Attack him now. He'll repeat his laser attack, but now he'll shoot a big explosive bomb at you after that sequence. Now you have to hit all three sections of his tail to reach him. Home- Attack all three sections, then jump again to hit his pod. You'll land on the opposite platform. Run from the lasers and bomb again. Hit the three tail lights and Eggman's pod again. After landing on the platform you started on, he'll shoot the lasers and bomb and then chase you across the platform. It's easier to run TOWARDS Robotnik and dodge left and right so he'll go past you and stop shooting. Hit the lights and Eggman again. After the laser attack he'll throw a spinning blade disc at you. Jump long and straight up to land on it. Ride it back to Eggman and hit him. Now Robotnik will totally take out the other platform and an end block. He'll throw the disc again. Ride it back and hit him again. He'll go to the other end and do the same. Ride the disc and hit Eggman for the last time. Don't put the controller down and start rejoicing just yet! Robotnik has one last trick up his sleeve. He'll try to crash into the platform you're standing on, so get ready to move. Seven hits makes this the longest boss in Sonic Adventure. ================================================ 4. Miles "Tails" Prower ================================================ Tails is Sonic's best buddy and wants to be just like his hero. He tags along all the time, trying his best to keep up with Sonic, most of the time not succeeding. He is kinda Sonic's "side-kick", although he has had a couple games to himself. Now he's back to join Sonic on his greatest quest, at the same time learning to believe in himself. ------------------------------ a. (exactly the same as Sonic's version) ------------------------------ b. Knuckles ------------------------------ Run around and hit him when he's standing still. Don't get too close or he'll punch you good! Keep your distance and avoid his gliding attacks. Three strikes and he's...OUTTA THERE! (exactly the same as Sonic's version) ------------------------------ c. Chaos 4 ------------------------------ Stay away from Chaos 4 and hit him when he surfaces and sits still in the water. Watch out for his tail whip, since he throws a heat wave at you! Four hits to end the fight. (exactly the same as Sonic's version) ------------------------------ d. Egg Carrier's Main Gun ------------------------------ Point the Tornado's target at the Gun and repeatedly shoot the gun. (exactly the same as Sonic's version) ------------------------------ e. E-102 'y' ------------------------------ Just hold down (X) or (B) if you have the Rhythm Badge and navigate yourself onto Gamma. At the beginning of the fight, E-102 will stand and target you. After the first hit, he'll jump, glide, and target. Lastly he'll roll around and (try to) shoot you. Three hits total. (exactly the same as Sonic's version) ------------------------------ f. Egg Walker ------------------------------ Be careful at the beginning of the fight. Avoid the missiles (they do not home in on you) as you run directly towards the Egg Walker. Stay underneath it and wait for one of the legs to stomp the ground. Jump over the shock-wave and hit the light on the "foot". Robotnik's pod will fall down; attack Eggman now. He'll jump over to the other side of the alley and launch a bunch of missiles or bombs. Run underneath him again and hit the foot that stomps. The pod will drop, and Eggman should get whacked. Get underneath the Walker every time Eggman switches ends of the alley. Hit the two feet that are lit. Repeat again for two legs. For the last hit, you'll have to hit three lights very quickly. The "stomp sequence" is 1 foot, 1 foot, 2 feet, 2 feet, and lastly 3 feet for a total of five hits to victory. ================================================ 5. Knuckles the Echidna ================================================ Knuckles is the guardian of the Master Emerald, the powerful gem that gives the Floating Island its ability to float. He's a loner, not want- ing anything to do with Sonic. He prefers to go his own way. When a mysterious being destroys the Emerald, he vows to get revenge and sets off on his mission to restore the Master Emerald...at all costs! ------------------------------ a. Chaos 2 ------------------------------ When Chaos 2 bounces around in a ball, attack him (gliding into him is the easiest way) to make him stop bouncing. Avoid him as he walks at you. When Chaos gets into a weird pose, charging up his arm attack, hit him quick. He'll get back into his ball form. Repeat the process. When Chaos melts into a puddle, stay away and then glide over to avoid get- ting hit. Sometimes Chaos 2 will scatter himself around the room, leaving his brain hovering in the air. You can not hit it, so keep your distance while Chaos 2...regroups. Four hits will finish Chaos 2 off. ------------------------------ b. Sonic ------------------------------ Run away from Sonic as he jumps at you. Once he lands, punch him. After this he'll Spin-Dash at you. Jump and glide around to avoid the rolling spin-ball. Once he stops rolling, try to drop on him and punch. Lastly he'll Home Attack you. Jump away, then land and punch him as he stands still. As with all character fights, three hits and it's over. ------------------------------ c. Five hits total. (exactly the same as Sonic's version) ------------------------------ d. Chaos 6 ------------------------------ Hit the hovering ice-bots to knock them onto the ground. Pick them up and throw them at Chaos 6 to freeze him. Now run up and hit him. Be careful when he tries to suck you up. Keep running and jumping away. However, sucking is sometimes good since he'll suck up any of the ice- bots that you've broken. He'll chase you around a lot, and sometimes tail-whip attack. Watch out when he tries to entangle you with his multiple arms! Four normal attacks, or two Maximum Heat Knuckles Attacks will finish Chaos 6. (There is a difference between Sonic and Knuckles' versions of the Chaos 6 fight! Knuckles has to fight Chaos 6 with two holes in the platform, while Sonic's platform is whole! Heh...little pun there...) ================================================ 6. Amy Rose ================================================ Amy is Sonic's admirer and would LOVE to be his girlfriend. However, Sonic is too uncomfortable to stay around Amy for long, although when- ever she needs rescuing, he's ready to go! She finds a Flicky bird and decides to protect it from a giant robot that chases her all the time as she flees throughout the whole game...until that robot goes too far. Girl power! ------------------------------ a. Zero ------------------------------ Hammer Zero into the electric fence. When his lid pops off, hit the blue button. When Zero jumps up and creates electrical shock-waves, stay away and jump over them, or you can be aggressive and stay right next to him and hammer him whenever he comes down. Knock him into the fence again and hit him once more. Now Zero will hop into the center and throw his arms out. As he spins around, run the same way he spins and jump whenever one comes near. Do NOT change direction in mid-air. Once he stops run over and smack him into the fence, and the last hit is yours! Three hits total. ================================================ 7. Big the Cat ================================================ Poor Big. He was living a happy care-free life in the rain-forest with his best friend Froggy. He didn't want to get involved in this at all! But when Froggy suddenly and mysteriously disappears, it's up to Big to save his best friend, and become involved in thwarting Dr. Robotnik's biggest plot of all! ------------------------------ a. Chaos 6 ------------------------------ This is Big's only boss in the game, and it is the easiest boss in the game. All you have to do is cast your line into the target in Chaos 6's body to fish Froggy out. Wait for Chaos 6 to come near, then aim your lure through the red target. ================================================ 8. E-102 'y' ================================================ E-102 started life as a creation of Dr. Robotnik, the enemy! As a loyal servant to its master, "Gamma" (the 'y' in its name is the Greek alpha- bet "Gamma") was determined to prove its worth. It completed its first missions admirably. However, unknown to Robotnik, Gamma was given not only a mind but a conscience and feelings it was not supposed to have. Disobeying its master and betraying its brothers, it freed Amy and escaped to freedom. It realized that it had to free its "brothers" from their robotic prisons, at the same time revealing a surprising ending! ------------------------------ a. E-101 Beta ------------------------------ Run around quickly and pick up rings. Then target Beta and his missiles to make sure you won't get hit. Fire repeatedly to finish him. Three hits total. ------------------------------ b. Sonic ------------------------------ As the fight begins, stand still and rotate as you mash (X) or (B). Move if he comes running at you. However, if you can keep hitting him, Sonic won't be able to get near you. Three hits as usual. ------------------------------ c. E-103 Delta ------------------------------ Strangely enough, E-102 is the only character to actually fight bosses in Action Stages. At the end of Windy Valley you will meet Delta. E-103 is a little faster than Beta, so keep moving and shooting down Delta's missiles. Don't let him get on top of you and you'll do fine. Five hits for Delta's "demise". ------------------------------ d. E-104 Epsilon ------------------------------ Epsilon has taken control of Red Mountain. Since he shoots even faster than previous bosses, you must get close to Epsilon to get the advantage. Run up close and shoot him. As he shakes, target and fire again and again and again and again... One hit and four agains will end the fight. ------------------------------ e. E-105 Zeta ------------------------------ Hot Shelter's master has seemingly put on some...ahem...weight since you last saw him aboard the Egg Carrier. Run around in the direction the platform is turning and send your laser into the midst of the robotic stuff. You'll need to hit the missile turrets on the sides of E-105. Once all seven of the turrets are gone, Zeta is bye-bye. ------------------------------ f. E-101 Mark II ------------------------------ Grab a ring and target E-101 over and over to stop the barrages of mis- siles he sends at you. The white-ish thing he gets around him is a sig- nal that he's gonna charge-attack you. Run left or right as he charges, turn around, and shoot him. He is vulnerable to your attacks ONLY at this moment (with his back turned to you). When he hovers far above the ring shooting big balls of exploding things at you, keep running around in a wide circle to avoid them. Keep going even when he pauses to charge a mega-bomb. You'll have to repeat this sequence to shoot Mark II in the back 4 times to win the fight. ================================================ 9. Super Sonic ================================================ Before Super Sonic becomes available, you must complete all six of the individual character quests. You start with a WHOLE bunch of movies. Finally you will get to control your speedy blue self. Head through the Ice Cave towards the Floating Island's resting place to find Knux and Eggman. You will have another vision with Tikal. Run up to the temple. After a couple more movies, head to where Tikal is. Follow her. After some more movies, head back to the Mystic Ruin's Rain Forest. A lot more movies, including a nice FMV, and Tikal will appear...in the flesh! After some MORE movies (one of which includes a cameo of every single one of the other five characters) Sonic takes the 7 Emeralds and morphs into the ultimate Super Sonic! Finally you get to the fight! There are only a couple things to remem- ber: you start with 50 rings. 1 ring is drained every second. When you reach 0 rings Super Sonic will revert back to regular Sonic and die. While fighting Perfect Chaos, avoid the blasts as best you can. Gain as much speed as you can and run into Chaos' base to spiral up and hit his brain. If you don't have enough speed your attack will fail. Don't go out of your way to get rings; this slows you down too much. You will have to hit Perfect Chaos 3 times to defeat his first form, then anoth- er 3 times to finish him off for good. Here are some tips to help you. All of the turns in the city are right turns, except for one quick left-right turn. If you do NOT pick up any rings, you will only have time for one unsuccessful run. Good luck! ================================================ 10.
